Middlest is safely dropped off at school, but now I have a house-guest for a while, so I may not be able to post very much. But...I am having a Down Day today, and enjoying it.

A good Down Day on Monday. A not so good Up Day yesterday (stress). Trying my best to have a good Down Day today. Looking forward to my kombucha, that's for sure.

Looking forward to having my regular life back in three days. It is hard being out of your normal routine.

I survived Middlest going off to college okay, though. I miss her, but not unbearably. I guess it is easier since I've been through it once before.

Having a houseguest has made my Down Days a challenge. But I'm getting through it, and now that I am back on rotations, the weight is going back where it should. I'm feeling good.

Thanks for your encouragement, All!

Getting back to it is the KEY! I am sure it is tough sending off any child to college....I can only imagine. I will be there in a few years though.

I am so looking forward to some normal rotations.

I 'had' to eat a few meals on my Down Days to keep my mother-in-law company. She said it was fine if I didn't eat, but we noticed a definite difference in her attitude if we were sitting there drinking water, or sitting there with food. so, yes...I caved. But it was a short(ish) visit, and it was what I chose to do.

I also had some emotional eating.

I like my mother-in-law, but there are always stresses, and I did not deal with them as well as I would have liked. My pains skyrocketed as well, which I am sure was due to the stress.

So...today!

I'm relaxing, having some protein shakes, kombucha, and a green smoothie.

Then a nice, normal Up Day tomorrow (fondue with root vegetables instead of bread is on the menu), and so on.

Feels so good to have some time to sit at the computer and post, as well! Really post, not just jump in for a quick look around.

Great to have you back with us Sirtain! I'm sorry it was stressful. I don't know why the attitude would change whether you were eating or not. People are really something, aren't they? At any rate, I'm sure you'll feel happier in your rotations. Back to real life!

You know, I can't say I blame your MIL for that either. If my DH doesn't partake with me, I get an attitude about it. Right or wrong. With families there is always STRESS! Today is an up day for me too! I am restricting the first 1/2 so I can indulge the 2nd 1/2

No phone or internet for over a week now. I am not a happy camper. Getting to the library today to log in, but no time for a good chat.

Well, still at the library. This is SEVERELY hampering my internet enjoyment time!

A good Down Day yesterday, of water only. Today I am looking forward to a splendid lunch of sushi and sashimi.

I'm feeling thinner lately, and I really like it. I think my mental image is catching up with the weight I have released.

I see that Dr. Johnson's book is available for pre-order. I'm going to get one. I like to support the people who are putting out this great information. Speaking of which, there are a couple of things I have been meaning to get from the lcf store. Need to get on it.

I did NOT make my Labor Day goal of 170, but I don't feel too bad about it. My August was VERY stressful, getting Middlest off to college, and then having a houseguest. But I'm back on track now, and looking forward to hitting the 160s again. 171.5 this morning.

Thanks for the well wishes, LowCarbGal and Zipp. I miss being on here every day, and now my time at the library is so limited, that I can't catch up with everything I want to. Soon, though, soon!

Another all-water Down Day yesterday. I'm enjoying the gentle up and downs again, looking forward to getting to 170 soon. Maybe by the end of the month.

Back online

Well, they finally fixed our phone/internet. I am having a good time today, catching up with all my computer stuff.

I had some stress eating last week, but I am hoping I am through that. Had a good Down Day yesterday, and am looking forward to enjoying a nice, normal Up Day today.

I am getting into a new routine for my Down Days, taking the dogs for a LONG walk at the start of it, and planning plenty of activities. Not all hustle and bustle: one of them is a long warm bath, but just to keep me from heading to my default position of 'I'm bored, let's eat!'

About that stress...

Dealing with the phone/internet situation almost drove me to tears at one point, I got so frustrated being stuck inside an automated phone loop. I used the EFT/tapping technique on it, and it really worked.

Since then, I have been trying it on other issues(my pains, emotional eating, etc) and I think it is well worth trying. Although, I DO think part of my stress eating last week was because I was exploring some tender emotional issues and had a bit of blowback. But considering that I seem to have worked through that, it wasn't much of a setback.

You can google it(There is a lot of free information about it on the net, and I have to say, I think the open sharing of this technique is a big point in its favor. Most of the practitioners seem to be saying, 'hey, try this, it might work for you, here's how you do it' and NOT 'hey, try this, just send me twenty bucks first'.) but here's the basic idea:

By tapping with your fingertips on certain points on your body, while thinking about painful(emotionally or physically) situations, you break your brain's automatic limbic stress response to that situation, allowing your brain and your body to now react normally to the situation when it arises again. (I think this is right, but it might just be my understanding of the explanation.)

It has some things in common with accupressure, although when I took a look into some accupressure books yesterday out of curiosity, I was astounded by their complexity. EFT/tapping is NOT complex. You can be an expert in the physical technique in about three minutes.

Okay, that's enough for now. I have some stuff to do, but the lure of the computer is strong.

I'm so glad you got the phone/internet thing worked out! I don't know how you lasted all that time. The EFT/tapping sounds very interesting. I need to explore that.

A normal Up Day yesterday, with three good meals and some moderate snacking. The highlight was mashed cauliflower with cheese. I LOVE that stuff! With only three of us at home now, I usually only cook half a cauliflower at a time, so no leftovers. I guess that is good: I don't need them waving at me during a Down Day.

My kombucha yesterday had no fizz, so I might need to rebottle my last batch and try again. But that means no kombucha today for my Down Day. Bummer.

I found I woke up this morning really looking forward to fasting. It is interesting how after you have done it for a while, it becomes enjoyable, not just endurable. I wonder if it is just a trick our mind plays on us, once it realizes we are serious and ARE going to be doing this. Does it figure it may as well make the best of it, and throws some endorphins at us to get through it?

Or are there pleasurable aspects to it that are masked when we have overloaded our bodies, and once the bad stuff gets cleared out, it is easier to experience the good?

Just musing.

Score!

One of the bottles of kombucha was fizzy. I rebottled the others, though, and am hoping for the best. I've decided to save them only for Down Days, as a special treat, until my production is up.

I REALLY need some new pants. Already! Which is funny, since I am only four pounds down from where I was when I bought these new ones. But everything is TOO baggy. Though I am by no means slim, I guess I am feeling thin enough that I WANT to wear fitting clothes, and not be hiding under baggy stuff. Now the bagginess makes me feel LARGER, not safe and invisible.

Whoa! Is this an ego developing?

This is great to hear Sirtain! That was a weird transition for me to want my clothes to fit better and not to hide. Go get you some new pants! It also seems like the smaller we get, the more often we need smaller clothes. This is going to be an extremely fun, but possibly expensive leg of the journey!

Thank goodness for thrift stores! I love my neighborhood thrift store, and there are three other pretty good ones within spitting distance, so I am blessed with plenty of options.

Made a warm ganache sauce for our ice cream last night. So good! But I feel ready for a good Down Day today. I'm going to be doing lots of cooking, for food for an event tomorrow, but no eating. Just sipping my kombucha and keeping busy.

Unfortunately, the first step in all this is doing the dishes. Ah, well.
