Frozen yogurt is SO dangerous to me. It just makes me want more and more. I have no restraint. I think because of the yogurt 'halo'. I like the Original Tart flavor, but I don't kid myself that it is still not way too much sugar for me!

I told my Honey about my concerns regarding his mom coming to visit and what she might think (and say) about ADF. He thinks I am blowing it out of proportion, but he is very good at shrugging off others' opinions. I am not.

I looked at the calendar, and I will have 5 Down Days while she is here. I'm going to plan out deceptively large(visually) dinners for those days. I know I can do taco salad once, and a chicken salad. I'm thinking fish will be another good meal. 200K of fish can cover a plate, and I won't take rice. Maybe kebabs another night, and I will make mine mostly veg, and not take sauce. Well, look now, that's already four ideas! I can do this!

Oh, and jellos for dessert! And maybe meringues.

It sounds like you've got this handled, Sirtain. I know how stressful it is to try and stay on plan and be good, while not making it into an issue. I hope if the subject comes up that she will be open minded and accepting. If not, just try and change the subject and avoid it altogether! It's not her business!

My weight shot up from holding onto water to deal with those cookies, but one Down Day, and I shot back down. Whee! This is the only kind of rollercoaster I can enjoy. (But not too often!)

I've got a hankering for a nice piece of fried fish, so I'm going to make a quick grocery store run. Then I've got to get going on some tasks, but I wanted to just post, so y'all wouldn't think I was still head-down in the cookie dough!

I started my first batch of kombucha yesterday. Very excited! I hope it turns out well, but of course, if it does, I'm going to have to have a series of jars lined up on the top of my fridge, since one batch will only last me a week, and it takes 2-3 weeks to ferment!

I had a 'good' Up Day yesterday. Ate what I wanted, but not more, and only good things.

Greens, an egg, and a bratwurst for breakfast. It held me for six hours.

We went to see RED2, and stopped at the new location of a favorite restaurant for lunch afterwards. I knew I was going to have some of their frozen custard, but didn't want that to be the only thing I ate, for fear of setting off some blood sugar issues. So I brought along a hard-boiled egg, and ate that right before. Worked like a charm. I got hungry again an appropriate amount of time later, and it was real hunger, not 'give me some sugar' hunger. Satisfied it with a snack of pork in green sauce topped with sour cream. Yum!

Then dinner was salsibury steak, sauteed zucchini, and some scallops in a wine-cheese sauce. I COULD have eaten more, it tasted so good, but I refrained, and just enjoyed the reasonable amount I had. Plus two squares of dark chocolate for dessert.

I'm planning kombucha and protein shakes for my Down Day today. I'm feeling like I want to make sure I am getting enough protein lately. Somewhat concerned about losing muscle mass as I lose weight, and I want to nip any of that in the bud. Luckily, my Honey always has protein powder on hand, so it's an easy thing for me to do. Of course, it tastes much better if I can mix it with milk, not water. Oh, well!

Did my weekend weigh-in, and I am down 5 pounds for the month of July. Feeling very pleased.

Honestly, depending on the weather and ambient temperature, in Summer, I think kombucha can be ready in <48hrs (but then, I don't like it vinegary).

Good thinking on strategies to preserve your muscle mass - it really is very important.

You're doing well so KUTGW

Moderate Day...was not

I planned on a Moderate Day yesterday, as a Down Day was scheduled, but I was meeting with a friend that I wanted to treat to lunch.

Well, as previously shown, I am just not good at MODERATION. Once I started, I did not stop. Strangely, my weight was down this morning.

I don't like switching my rotations around, so today is still an Up Day, but I am experimenting with an Egg Up Day.

On the other forum I read, someone is posting their experiences with an egg diet. Just eggs, usually a dozen, sometimes a few more, every day, as a way to break her sugar binges before she begins a primal-type of diet. She's been going for about three weeks. It seems to be working very well for her.

I am NOT interested in a diet like that for me, I am happy with JUDDD, but I don't think you can diet in America for any time at all, and not be intrigued when you hear about someone's successful experiences. So, I thought it would be fun to try it FOR A DAY.

I am making my Up Day a mostly-egg one. Still no counting of calories, but having mostly eggs will of necessity, keep me to a high-fat/moderate-protein/low-carb combination. This morning I had three poached eggs with one slice of Canadian bacon, and some hollandaise sauce. I'm planning egg salad for lunch, hard-boiled eggs for a snack, and scrambled eggs with cheese for dinner. I suppose if I got cooking, I could even make some egg custard now to have for dessert. No, think I'll skip that. (Too much ice cream lately!)

I keep seeing people mention those egg days/fasts. I'm sure they work very well for those for whom they work.

I develop an allergy/anaphylaxis to a mono-source of protein with surprising rapidity so I have to keep them mixed. (I know an egg is mixed but I'm still wary. I stayed with a friend who was putting soy protein isolate into everything. In retrospect, I was flushing and having problems after my 2nd dose of it - not that I knew I was having it - but 3 days in, and having just started to eat my 5th lot of it, I swelled, my airway started to close etc. So, although I know they work for people, I could never contemplate a single source of food that contains a lot of protein.)

Good luck with your day Yours sounds quite mixed and imaginative

Apparently, neither can I! I fell face down into some zucchini pesto with scallops.

Today I am doing probiotic drinks and protein shakes. I still feel very FULL from yesterday, and just liquids is more appealing. I will say, my three-egg breakfast kept me full for about five hours! The eating was purely emotional (doing a difficult task was causing me anxiety) and sadly, hard-boiled eggs do not seem to answer any emotional cravings!

Dong yard work this morning, in short five-minute spurts. It is very hot outside, plus the pollens are making my nose run. But it means I can check internet pages between bouts.

Yesterday was a good Down Day. No hunger until the evening, and even then, quite managable. I ended up only having probiotic drinks and a green smoothie just before bed. Just no good time for the protein.

It's always strange when you go down after an Up Day. I had three Up Days in a row (not planned, just giving in to cravings on a Down Day) and my weight went down after the second and third. I know the vagaries of the scale. My weights may be completely unrelated, but still, it makes you wonder what the heck is going on. But I'll take it! Even not caring so such about the up and down motion, I like seeing the smaller numbers.

Of special note this morning, is that I was only one pound heavier than my Honey! Soon I'll be catching him up! Dare I say, zipping past him?! I know he is planning to go down a little more once I am at 170, but I don't think he is in the right mood for losing right now. Well, for working at it. He has been enjoying the 'cheating' that maintaining allows him. But who knows, he might change his mind. We all know how suddenly one day you can be sick of a situation and ACT.

He's 5'7" and maintaining at 170ish. I'm not that up on men's weights, but I think he is looking pretty good now. He could MAYBE get another ten pounds off, but then he'd have to be almost fat-free! He's very heavily muscled.

My Up Day when just as planned yesterday, lots of protein, a little veg, and a dinner out with my friends where I stuck to what I brought and enjoyed one taste of their dinner. Was NOT tempted by their dessert, and had my own delicious custard.

It sure feels good when you do what you planned and actually enjoy it. My weight this morning was 174. I'm looking forward to when I've been there long enough that I will 'claim it' in my stats. Right now, I am halfway between start and goal, which is nice...I've never gotten that far before. But there will be a different kind of thrill when I have release MORE THAN HALF.

For a while I was really looking forward to my practice maintenance that I am planning at 168. That feeling seems to have passed for now. I am still planning to do it, but I'm not on fire for it, like I was a little bit ago. Don't know why. Realized that I still have a couple months until I get there, perhaps? In any case, I am enjoying where I am right now, very much.

Except...some of my new clothes is already a little roomy. I guess the fat and water on my body is shifting around even more than the numbers are going down. It's a good thing I shop at the thrift store, and the monetary investment isn't that high. But those fish capris are very cute! I want to be wearing them for longer than a month. I might take them in a bit.

Well, your DH is a bit on the shorter side for a guy. I'm 5'8, if he has much muscle, I can't imagine he would want to be too much smaller!

I thought of you on Friday night. I was watching the Loser Make over show with Chris on ABC. The girl was working her video diary and she did a post of her in a new outfit. She said, this victory has nothing to do with size/food, this has to do with my new outfit that was only $6 at the thrift store! I thought that was great and immediately thought of you!
