I know (journal-less one here)! I've thought about starting one many times, but just never have done it.

LC is going great! I feel so wonderful on it, and the break has done me a lot of good. I'll be plan-less through Sunday (just trying to control portions, but not avoiding any food groups or doing any fasting). Monday back on LC, and 4/1 I think I'll be back to JUDDD.

What all are you growing in your garden this year? I would love to have a big garden, but I have to be honest, I don't want all the work!

I'm throwing myself into a four-day fast(water, tea, and broth[for electrolytes]) today. I decided rather spur of the moment, that this is a good time for a spring cleaning. Bring on the autophagy!

Wow, I am beyond impressed with that. I've never even tried one full day of total fasting. Askeered! Good luck and I hope you feel great doing it!

I have done several 3-day fasts, one 5-day fast, and one 9-day fast. I do them for cellular regeneration/autophagy. The 3-day ones have been the hardest. You would think the other way around, but no, the longer I go, the easier it is. I am not going to go over 4 days, though, because I don't want to drop too much weight. I just want my cells to tidy up any debris that is lying around.

This last weekend was my first official 4:3 weekend- fasting on MWF, and eating Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday. I liked having the whole weekend free of constraint. I am not going to weigh until I have been doing this for a month. Then I will judge to see how it is working, maintenance-wise.

Sirtain- I bow down to you for doing pure water fast. That's amazing you can do it! I just did 2-day veggie juice fast and that's all I could do. It felt great but I started getting light-headed last evening and decided to stop there.

Interesting that you would get light-headed doing a juice fast. I would think the nutrients in the juice would cover that. Our bodies are all so interesting.

I do think that being low(er) carb in general helps me with the fasting. I don't get the blood sugar swings, which I know can be very hard to deal with.

My biggest problem is habit. I really miss the eating in the sense of an activity. It feels weird to just not do this thing we usually do 3+ times per day. Of course, it does free up more time to come on the forum.

Two days down. I am expecting today to be the hardest. Not in terms of hunger, exactly, more from just wanting to eat. The habit of eating is a hard one to get over. I will try to keep busy. I need to get things moving in the front room, so I can pull up that carpet. Once that is done, I will have some real motivation to be in there as much as possible, working on it. Until then, it is too easy to put off.

I did have fun yesterday, making food for the freezer. I did paleo granola bars and lamb broth. I also prepped the sushi rice for today. I am making Littlest and Honey a nice sushi lunch and dinner. Tuna, eel, seaweed salad, and squid. Plus green tea mochi for afters. I find the food prep and smells to be very enjoyable when I am fasting. Stirring up the granola was satisfying. Textures, crunchy noises, beautiful earthy colors. Luckily, not tempting at all, taste-wise. Just fun in other ways.

Our lettuce and radishes were the first ones to pop up their head in the garden. I love seeing that hint of green.

Fell asleep on the sofa last night, about 8:15. I choose to think that was my body's way of saying, 'We have a lot of work to do in here. Now, go to sleep, so we can do it!'

Good luck getting through day 3!

Getting through pretty well. My kitchen is clean, my family room is tidy, I cleared most of the first section of front room, did errands, and now I am getting ready to sit down with some sock knitting and episodes of Chopped. Life is good.

Heading into the main stretch. I think I may FINALLY be getting hungry. It is amazing to me that it can take until the FOURTH day to kick in.

I am planning my food for tomorrow:
Pineapple and some banana to start my day. I've been thinking about pineapple lately.
Then a nice lunch of sashimi.
Afternoon snack of salmon.

Dinner is still up in the air. We might be having a friend over, in which case it will be chili. Cornbread, sour cream, cheese on the side for the others. I would probably have mine on top of a baked sweet potato.

Oh, that reminds me, I need to make a new batch of ghee. Note to self.

Did I mention (aside from this spontaneous fast), I am now doing 4:3 as my practice maintenance? Somewhere after my Palm Springs weekend, I hit 154 enough that I felt I had made it. My schedule is Down Days on MWF, and Up Days on TRSU. I'm going to give it a month, and then evaluate.

I am NOT weighing!

I am prepared that there may be a gain. Even a frightening one. But I am concerned that if I saw a little uptick while I was adjusting, I might let it freak me out. I AM paying attention to how my clothes fit. I like those new size 10 and 12s too much to give them up. I am also keeping an eye on my cheek hollows. When I gain weight, it shows up in my face pretty quickly.

Fun stuff I am doing today, to keep me busy:
Picking up a book I ordered, 'Cabinet of Earths'
Buying fabric for a quilt back
Clipping Chloe's toenails(okay, that's not fun, but it is a challenge, which counts!)
Re-watching part of season one of The Walking Dead while I knit

Normal stuff:
Dishes
Bottling kombucha
Transport duties
Groceries

2:30pm - It is certain. I am definitely hungry. I am now trying to decide if I will ride it out, or break my fast this afternoon instead of tomorrow morning. I'm going to wait at least 20 minutes, to see if the hunger subsides. I know from past experience that it often does. I also know that once I decided I am GOING to eat, I do. So, no decision yet. I am just CONSIDERING!

You're almost there! And I like the way you are making a conscious DECISION when to break the fast, and not letting emotion or cravings influence you. Smart lady.

I like the sound of your maintenance plan. How exciting to be there!

The hunger passed. That's another way I know it is True Hunger, and not Mind Hunger. True Hunger goes away, circles the block(slowly) and knocks again after a few hours. Mind Hunger keeps banging on the door, then starts rattling the windows. Sometimes even the dog door!

I sublimated my mental desire for a food activity by chopping up all the vegetables for a big batch of soup. It is simmering away on the stove now, and smells pretty good. Onions and celery sauteed in lard, with oregano. Then carrots, cabbage, and crookneck squash, with a can of diced tomatoes. Once it is boiled down, I'll throw in some stock from the freezer. Yum, yum, yum!

Thanks, LoCarbGal. (I never know whether to call you that, or Carol. Do you prefer one or the other on the forum? I tend to LowCarbGal, 'cause that's what's right over your photo.) I am excited to be IN MAINTENANCE. Completely new territory for me. I'm also excited to have both weekend days wide open. I expect I may go crazy for the first few weekends, like when I was first experiencing Up Days, and then I'll settle down.

I found a great fabric for the back of my quilt. It is a very wild pattern, almost like 70s paisley on steroids.

Ah, the head hunger. I'm glad you were able to let your grumbles pass.

You can call me whatever you like! Well.....maybe I should put SOME constraints on you. I don't mind Carol on the boards, but LCG or whatever is fine.

Very wise!

I think I am just going to wait until tomorrow to break my fast. It just doesn't feel that urgent.

I had a banana this morning, to break my fast. Planning some paleo granola with almond milk and more banana later in the morning, and sashimi for lunch.

I'm glad I went the entire four days. There's was a time yesterday afternoon when I could have said, 'I'm hungry; I'm eating.' It feels like real mental progress about my food attitudes, that I was able to plan to wait, and see how I felt a little while later. JUDDD is really teaching me restraint.

Okay, I think I am back. Life has just been out of control for a while. One of Middlest's friends died. A very sad time.

Having a regular Down Day today. Yesterday I had very good food: bacon and vegetables, shrimp and vegetables, corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes, rice chex and almond milk; so I feel fueled up to have a good non-eating day.

Trying to get on top of bills and paperwork today. Plus all the little chores that need to be done. Plus some relaxation. I need to take care of myself mentally.

So sorry to hear about the death of one so young. This must be a very rough time for your middlest.

Glad to have you back though! Are you doing a zero calorie day today?

Yes, I think so. I'm reserving the option to have some liverwurst and/or broth, if I need to take the edge off, but my plan is to just have water. I think that will be especially important to me on Mondays, now that I have two Up Days in a row over the weekend. Calorie-wise, yes, but mostly to maintain the habit of Down Days. Once I get to three eating days in a row, something ticks over in my brain, and I get a little wild(mentally). JUDDD has made it easier for me to get back on plan, but I want to keep it that way, and not push at my limits(yet).
