Bad news to report: I fell face first into chocolate and nuts on Friday. I blame my period, sneaking up on me like that . Of course, my weight rocketed upwards, and I also have a stuffy nose. This could be from hanging drywall yesterday, but it might also be from too many new ingredients all at once.

Oh, well.

I had a 'Recovery Day' yesterday. Neither Up, eating everything I wanted, or Down. Some bratwurst and sauerkraut for a late lunch. Liver, onions, and mushrooms in ghee for a late dinner. And half a banana(dope!) as a late night snack. Shoot! Just as I was typing this I remembered I wanted to stay off bananas for a while. I ate it when I was half asleep, and not thinking. I just needed something to soothe my throat.

Not the best choices.

But not the worst. Onward! I will NOT consider this license to go whole hog, since I fell out of the Virgin elimination protocol. So I had too much sugar, and some soy lecithin. NOT the end of the world. Or maybe even the end of the plan. I might not be reactive to those. (Let the stuffy nose be from drywall. Or maybe I am even coming down with something. Not that I am HOPING to be sick. But I was just thinking last week that it is amazing that I haven't been sick this winter.) I will stick to my Super Bowl plan, and then have regular Down and Up Days next week. I get to have eggs on Tuesday.

The liver was good. Even Littlest ate it up, and said she wouldn't mind having it once per month. I was very careful not to overcook it. Just a minute's sear on each side, then smothered it in sauteed onions and mushrooms. Yum, yum. The dogs were very happy with their portions, too.

Just thinking, I wonder if there was an element of I-made-it-through-the-month to my chocolate binge? Something to consider.

My runny nose is not food reaction, allergies, or wallboard dust. It is a cold. I am resting and drinking lots of water, tea, and broth. Back later.

Whoa. I feel wiped out this morning. I may spend another day resting on the couch. Don't know if I will eat or not. I feel like my body is having enough to do, with fighting off this cold, and trying to breathe, without adding digestion to the mix. I may have another water-tea-broth day.

Hope you are feeling better soon, Sirtain! I know the flu is going around something fierce here. Even people who got the shot are getting it.

Take care of yourself! It can be exhausting just getting enough oxygen when you're all clogged and stuffed up, not to mention fighting off a bug. Big !

Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone. Luckily, it is only a cold, not the flu. I am feeling more energetic than I was this morning, so I think it is already passing off. I think I will stick to water, tea, and broth today, though.

Shoot. This means my rotation is switching again.

I'm going to post my weights again. It worked so well for January, I want to keep it up.

The jump at the beginning is from a crazy chocolate day, and then some Super Bowl feasting. It does not worry me.

158.0 2/1
157.0 2/2
160.0 2/3
156.0 2/4
155.0 2/5

Feeling better this morning. I only have a little stuffiness left. Not exhausted, like I was yesterday. Only now, poor Littlest seems to have caught it. She's miserable.

I am having eggs today, for the first time in over three weeks. Very excited.

The eggs were delicious. I had a stomach cramp 4 1/2 hours after eating them. I don't know if it was related or not. I will be having eggs again on Saturday, and I'll be alert.

Had too many nuts/seeds/sugar yesterday. Feel angry with myself, but what can you do? Sometimes the emotional eating gets you. I had to enforce a rule in a social group, and I felt very uncomfortable about it. Bam. Next thing I knew, I was eating cashew clusters!

Aw, that sounds uncomfortable. Both the social group thing and the cramps! But at least it's not certain that eggs were the culprit. I'm keeping a good thought for you that eggs don't have to go bye-bye.

Thanks, LoCarbGal. I would be VERY sad to have to give up eggs. Really, I don't know if I WOULD. Which is a little scary. I mean, it is for my health, right? But eggs!

I am taking the rest of the cashew clusters to my group tonight, and giving them away. They are too good for me to have in the house.

Something else happened yesterday (different group, luckily) and now I am having some emotions over that. But coming so soon after the other, I realized what was happening, and instead, talked it out. Hopefully, it will head off any emotional eating. Though I still feel apprehensive about it. At least I am aware of the feelings, and realizing it won't kill me to FEEL them. I don't HAVE to eat to suppress them.

Mercy, I am whiny. Enough of that!

Kept to my plan yesterday, of water until dinner, and then a normal dinner. I had zoodles with ghee, lemon, and coconut cream. And scallops and mushrooms. My weight stayed the same this morning, which is a good lead-in for my Down Day today. I will be doing water and tea. For dinner I am taking along some vegetable soup (broth, carrot, and cabbage) so that I will have something in front of me when the gang is eating. And it's so cold lately, that soup sounds pretty nice!

Then, tomorrow will be a regular Up Day, with a focus on Russian foods as we watch the Olympic opening ceremony(taped). I am making borscht, devilled eggs with caviar, lamb plov, and pampushki(potato dumplings with curd cheese). I might even buy a vodka mini, so that we can each enjoy a shot. Prost!(Okay, that's a German toast. But I don't know any Russian ones.)

...quick google...

Boo-deem-zda-ro-vye!

Being aware of your feelings and talking them out....GREAT PLAN! Eating never solved any emotional problem. I should know, I have tried that millions of times!

OH Themed eating. FUN!

I'm so happy for you that you were able to see what was happening via your emotions and deal with them so effectively. That is major. I need to work on that!

I love the idea of Russian food for the Olympics! My Russian repertoire is pretty much beef stroganoff and vodka. Both of which sound pretty yummy! You've got me thinking...

I have had a shock

Eggs mess with me.

I've been doing this elimination diet, to test for food sensitivities. No wheat, corn, soy, sugar/artificial sweeteners, peanuts, dairy, or eggs. Those are apparently the seven most common things that people have issues with. I was pretty sure I had no issues with the last three, but I dropped them, too, because I might as well follow the plan, right?

I decided to add eggs in first, because I love eggs, and they are so versatile, it would really make my cooking and eating life easier to have them again.

I had some on Tuesday for breakfast. 4 hours and 40 minutes later I had some stomach cramps. It was just as I was going in for a sushi lunch. I thought it might be related to my period. Right after the lunch, there was an urgent bathroom issue. This happens occasionally after sushi- I just figure it is my body doing its job, having sighted something that shouldn't be there in the fish.

Both incidents (cramps and evacuation) could be explained by other things. But I noted them down in my symptoms journal, as well as the 'normal' midriff pains.

Yesterday I had eggs again. Being mindful of making them an isolated test, I planned my day to eat nothing else for quite a while. I was sure it would be fine, though, and was looking forward to having another portion of eggs in the afternoon.

Um, no.

4 hours and 45 minutes after eating the eggs, I was struck by cramps. Real doozies. And had to run for a bathroom (thank you, Dollar General, for letting me use the employee's bathroom!). It was awful.

I am very upset. I love eggs. And they are in so many things. I cried about it yesterday, that's what a blow it was.

But I think I am getting over it.

I will continue testing other items (after this, dairy BETTER BE fine!) and maybe after a month or so, I will try eggs again. Maybe my gut just needs to heal more.(I guess I am not really getting over it. Still looking for a way out.)

I just can't believe it.

On the eggs...it may be that you can not eat them say scrambled, but you may be able to tolerate them in something else. Hopefully you will be able to add them back in!
