Good for you, Sirtain!

I must admit, I'm looking forward to being able to shop in "normal" sizes, because the do seem to be so plentiful!

I've been enjoyably busy the last days, with Eldest and Middlest both home from their respective colleges, and Littlest finishing up her finals. Yesterday we went out together for Christmas gift shopping. It was really fun. Tomorrow we are going to do the special grocery shopping(lots of lovely treats) and then bake and decorate cookies.

Last night Honey, Littlest, Eldest, and I sat around in the evening, playing a board game (Tigris and Euphrates). It has been years since Honey played it, and was my and Littlest's first time. Lots of fun. We are going to do another round today if time allows. Eldest might be having friends over. I'll be tidying the house in between football. Last night I made our Christmas Eve potato salad(it tastes better if it sits for a couple of days).

It is funny how much I enjoy cooking and doing food prep on Down Days. You would think it would be the opposite. But smelling and touching the food offers its own pleasures.

On one of my recent thrift store trips, I bought a pair of 'aspirational' size 10 jeans. Just for fun, I tried them on a couple of days ago. Tight, but they FIT! As in, I could zip them up without straps or duct tape, and there was minimal muffin top action. I don't think I could wear them for long, but the fact that I can even get INTO size 10s blows me away! Size 12 was always my fantasy size.

Here I am, living the fantasy and building another one!

Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to everyone!

That all sounds so nice! Very enjoyable times, and memories being made. I'm always amazed looking back that some of the most memorable and special moments weren't during anything dramatic, like a vacation, or doing something really spectacular. They were simple moments shared at home, with loved ones, on normal days.

Oh, and size 10s??? I hate you! (NOT! But I hate your jeans. ) Congratulations on this well-earned shrinkage!

Merry Christmas, All!

Just a quick check-in before our holiday festivities begin.

I am flirting with the 150s again, this morning. I love seeing those numbers, even after a Down Day. I have come to feel that seeing the lower numbers after my Down Days is good preparation for hitting them after Up Days. It gets me used to the idea. I think at first, I couldn't 'own' the lower numbers, and it caused some mental stalling. Now, I psyche myself up for being at a new low, by touching the numbers and backing away, then coming in for another touch.

Very flirty, indeed!

That was a great Christmas! I enjoyed myself immensely.

And I plan on enjoying my Down Day today, as well. I am chock full of energy units, from the last two days of eating, so I should be able to get all the dishes DONE! (A girl can dream, can't she?)

I started off with an epsom salt bath, and I am drinking plenty of water. My weight went up 10 pounds! Seven pounds the first day, three the second. I know it is mostly water weight, because that first day, I didn't even eat that much, calorie-wise. Darned carbs!

I will be interested to see how quickly it falls off. I have three Down Days before the end of the year. And, I have a special treat planned for the 30th, which may also affect things. I am getting a detox body wrap. I have always wanted to try one.

I almost wish I had scheduled it for later, though, as I would like to see how long regular rotations take to remove water weight. I don't think just two would do it. But maybe three.

But now that I have this treatment to look forward to, I'm not delaying it, even for the sake of science.

I think it very funny that my craving today (first Down Day after Christmas feasting) is for the leftover salad in the fridge, and not any of the treats still littering the house.

Just got my first Netrition order(slight delay due to the holiday). I want to try out some of the shiritaki noodles when I make turkey tetrazini. But I'll need to hold off on trying the chocolate-hazelnut thing. Too many treats over Christmas- I don't need to start up again. Maybe I will make it a New Year's treat.

Still want that salad, but I'm holding off.

Salad's Siren Song

Went to bed, thinking of that salad.

Woke up at 3am, and yes, one of my thoughts was, 'I could get up and have the salad!'

I stayed in bed, instead, and got another 3 hours of sleep.

But I DID have the salad as soon as I was up this morning.

And it was delicious!

Now I am planning on a restrained Up Day. Not so much in calories, but in varieties of food. ONE treat (blueberry ricotta pie) instead of ALL of them.

This has been my weight over the past few days:

159.0 12/24
166.0 12/25
169.0 12/26
164.0 12/27

Up ten pounds of mostly water weight from two days of feasting.

Down five pounds from one Down Day.

Usually I go up one to two and a half pounds after an Up Day. I am hoping it will be closer to one pound today, and then another good drop after my next Down Day.

Oh, and my detox wrap and massage got moved to the 31st, so I WILL have three Down Days to judge by.

By-the-by, WHO keeps moving the Kleenex away from the computer? Must go search!

...

Recovered. When I say Kleenex, of course, I MEAN a roll of toilet tissue. That's the kind of classy establishment I'm running here.

The appointment got moved because Monday is now going to be taken up with an immense amount of tree trimming. We are hiring a cherry-picker, and trimming all the big limbs that are too tricky to tackle with a ladder. We're also taking down a whole tree which has been leaning more and more towards the house. This last ice storm beat it up to where it is resting on our fence. And the fence is complaining. Mightily.

Once all the limbs are down, Honey will spend the next weeks cutting them into logs. A friend is getting lots of firewood. And then we will start a Hugelkulture garden.

It was just a green salad with meats and cheeses in it, and a viniagrette. Nothing fancy, but it was what I wanted.

Food info from yesterday:

Gave in to more treats. It was an up Day, so I don't feel bad calorie-wise, but I was trying to let the carbs clear out from my system, so I do feel kind of bad about that.

And what do we do when we feel bad?

Look for more snacks to cram in our face.

Sigh.

There was also some stress eating. Just a lot going on, and some emotions connected with it that I reflexively tried to bury in food. Potato salad, which led to cookies, which led to chocolate, which led to stollen.

Such is life.

Looking to do a reasonable Down Day today, but aware that I might dive into snacks. There are still so many in the house.

Not going to beat myself up about it.

My nose is running ferociously this morning. I suspect the eggnog and stollen.

The family is going out for a sushi lunch this afternoon. I expect to enjoy myself.

I did NOT really enjoy myself with most of the food yesterday. There was an element of eating because it was there, not because I wanted it. And yet I did it anyhow. We humans are a strange breed.

Called Barnes and Noble to see if Dr. Johnson's ADF book was in. Turns out I had the release date wrong; it is not coming out until Dec. 31st. Poor planning, I think! Even diet books should come out a few days before the end of the year, so you can get psyched. Not that I don't know what is in it, but still!!

Feeling impatient. I want to read it.

Sirtain, I hear you about the food. I got a chocolate bar in my stocking and ended up eating the whole thing over the course of the day. Just because it was there. Ugh.

SlowSure posted this in the JUDDD Daily Chat. I want to remember it.

"One of my favourite Anglo-Saxon poems has the phrase, longsumne lof. It was the aspiration of Anglo-Saxon heroes to be 'longsumne lof', your deeds earned you lasting and eternal praise and your memory continued because love for you was carried in the hearts of those who knew and loved you and told stories about you to their descendants."

That's the kind of person I'd like to be, too.

I had a very good Down Day yesterday. We were busy from dawn to dusk, chopping down trees, and breaking them down into piles. There were unpleasantly thrilling moments when wood fell on wires, but we made it through the day with no damage, and no injuries! Always a plus! I drank water all day, but didn't have the time or appetite to eat. Then I made dinner for the kids, took a bath, and fell into bed. Perfect!

This afternoon, I am having my little taste of luxury: a body wrap and massage. I have never had a body wrap before. I hope I enjoy it. There is supposed to be some weight reduction, so maybe I will enter the New Year at 162 again. (I am 164.5 this morning.) There is also supposed to be some toxin release, so I was instructed to drink LOTS of water yesterday and today. Managed 14 glasses of water yesterday. I am hoping for 12 today by the time I get there. Tomorrow is all supposed to be consumed by lots of water drinking. I will plan on staying close to the bathroom.

Feeling pretty good. I am really enjoying fitting into size 12 jeans. I think I look good in them. (Honey agrees.) I have even started TUCKING IN my shirts! Must be careful that as my body shrinks my head doesn't swell.

Happy New Year!

Hello all!

Thank you for your interest and support last year. It was a great time for me in so many ways, and y'all helped make it so.

Here's to a New Year even better!

We had our traditional ice cream sundae last night, just before midnight. I went all out, really enjoyed it, but by the time we went to bed, was regretting it. It was not sitting happily in my tummy. Nothing too severe, but enough so that I wished I hadn't done it.

Fine this morning, though.

I weighed in at 166.0. This is the lightest I have been at New Year's in over 24 years! Happy, happy dance!

Hey, just thought of it, I should go take my measurements. Back in a minute...

...and I'm back. Here they are, for reference:

38.75 upper chest
36.00 ribs
35.00 waist
40.00 belly
40.50 hips
22.50 thighs
15.25 calves
11.75 arms

I know these are down quite a bit(except for belly and waist, those are up a little after Christmas ) from when I started, but I don't want to go dig up the old numbers right now.

I feel good about where I am after the holidays. Such a change from previous years. But I still want to do a 'fresh start' for January. A month of being careful, and just doing the rotations WITHOUT FAIL. I'd like to be at 160 or lower by the end of the month.

Starting off with a Down Day, and I am planning on water and turkey broth. I made some after Christmas, and it boiled down to a beautiful, golden brown. It is radiating goodness, and I really want some!
