Still chugging along.

Doing an extended fast has messed up the beautiful up and down pattern of my weight chart. Yes, the slide down to the right is nice, but I know once I can start eating again, it will bounce back up, so I don't feel it is really 'real'. Any time I think of my weight, I feel I have to qualify it with 'but only because of this weird fast'. Even to myself.

Sure hope this works. I keep telling myself that I am not an exception, that my body will likely work like every one else's, but after so many years of FAILING on low-fat, low-calorie, it is easy to think that you DON'T work like everyone else. Heaven forbid that the advice might be wrong!

Just hoping that this doctor's advice is the right one for me and these stupid pains!

Okay, enough moping.

Here's some good stuff:

I am slowly finishing up the floors.
Got started on making Christmas presents.
Honey is being hired on permanently!! Woot!
Dogs and human family members are in good health.
All kids home next week.
The beautiful heron at the local pond.
JUDDD has given me skills to make this medical fast not too hard.
Spent a fun day with a friend.
Was responsible yesterday, in one of my weak areas- making it stronger!
There might be a Snow Day tomorrow.

Here are the Christmas presents:
Knit boot-toppers for Littlest.
A knitting needle case (with a full set of needles) made from denim and a dyed doily for Middlest.
Floss-wrapped earbuds for all.
Decoupaged organizers for all(made from pie crust dough boxes- they are adorable!).
Dice rolling boxes lined with fun foam for Eldest and Honey.
Bags made from my dad's old kimono for all the kids.

I'm really pleased with my ideas.

The Snow Day is likely to be for icy roads. But I'll take it!

Th eice storm turned into an ICE STORM.
Our power was knocked out, and so were some of our trees. (Posting form the library.) It is 45 degrees inside our house, and we are NOT enjoyingit. Praying for it to come back on SOON!
I was planning to break my fast, but the storm/power situation has made it difficult to have the things I want easily. So, I'm still going. As soon as we get power back I will be having watermelon and lightly cooked fish.

We have electricity again! Very happy! It was out for four days and three nights. Very cold days and nights!

Doing a regular Down Day today. Also very happy about that, as I have Christmas shopping to fill my day, and even enough money(sort of) to do it with!

I have broken my long (medical-reason) fast. It wasn't that difficult. I think ADF helped a lot with it. I had three days of moderate eating after it, but am now getting back to regular rotations, and looking forward to it.

Picked Middlest up from college yesterday. She is here for a month. Eldest arrives next week. Then we'll have them all for the holidays.

Had a regular Down Day yesterday, and it felt good.

On Sunday I had my first experience of someone telling me I 'don't need to lose anymore weight'. I am still six+ pounds out from my first goal, and maybe another 14 pounds from my final goal, and have PLENTY of energy storage. But it was interesting to hear.

It was from a lady who is very attuned to other people's weight loss. I will be interested to see when(if) any of my close friends start making similar comments. We are meeting this Friday, and I am planning on wearing form-fitting jeans! I am now thinner than any of them have known me before. Wow, what a strange thought. I have known some of these ladies for 20 years!

Well, I was disappointed.

The particular person was not there, so she couldn't make any comment.

Another lady did say I was 'getting so skinny' which was nice, but since it wasn't THE LADY, I still didn't get what I wanted to out of the situation. Just goes to show I shouldn't build myself up like that.

Well, maybe she will be there next month. (And here I go again!)

Musing

As I posted in the Weekly Weigh-in thread this morning, it struck me that soon it will be New Year's. The traditional time to say, 'this year I am going to lose weight!'

And yes, I will still be saying some form of that this year.

But the differences from other years are astounding.

I don't have far to go. I am no longer looking at 40 - 60 pounds of extra fat. I have fewer than 10 pounds to my first goal, and just another 16 to the 'I would love to weigh it, but could never REALLY weigh it' goal.

I have found something that works. And it has been working so well, and for so long, that I don't feel it is a fluke. I KNOW I can get to where I am heading using JUDDD.

I am even starting to question how far I will go. And not in the bad way, of giving up hope that I could ever be normal weight, and 'settling' for just being a little overweight.

For the first time I am wondering if I might actually want to be THIN. Not svelte, or normal, or just right. Thin, actually thin.

I don't know. I will have to live with average and normal for a while. But I realize it is a possibility. That's so different for me.

Numbers-wise: I am at 163 right now. My first goal is 154. I planned on maintaining that for at least three months, then deciding if I want to go for 140. I am feeling more confident in knowing that I will want to go for 140. And maybe even, maintaining there for a while before deciding if I want to go lower. I have NEVER BEFORE thought about going below 140. 140 was always the fantasy weight. And I may be just right at 140.

But I have given up the lie that I am 'big-boned'. Maybe 135 is where I really want to be.

It is now a possibility. And not a scary one.

How exciting, Sirtain! To be so close to your first goal. To be anticipating maybe wanting to go further. To go into a new year feeling good about where you are and confident that where you want to be is attainable. Really good stuff!

Yes, I am loving these feelings, Carol. it is a good place to be.

In other exciting news, today my waist measurement is half of my height. (34" and 68"). Another 'normal' standard hit!

Yesterday I was walking to the library, and enjoying how thin my legs looked and felt in my jeans.

I know plenty of people would still consider me fat, (and I am still overweight) but I am loving, loving, LOVING how I look right now. It makes me so happy to be feeling like I am a 'normal' size.

I like it socially, feeling like I am average, and not standing out because of a negative.

I like it physically. My thighs aren't always rubbing together, I fit into spaces better.

I like it visually. I look smaller. I look in proportion.

I like it while shopping. There are so many more pairs of size 12s available than size 18s!

I like it sexually. Some things are just easier. And I don't feel self-conscious. Nothing puts a damper on romance than only being able to think about some bit of fat.

I like it in a different way socially. I have always been one of the 'fat ones', in my social groups. People respond to you in a different way when you are 'normal' sized. I think my personality is changing/revealing a different facet, as people treat me differently.

I like it for my ego. I feel good that I am accomplishing this! It may be just the luck of finding the right method, but it is still an incredible boost. I feel confident and competent.

I like it!

OH girl, one of my favorite saying is at any given time:

Some people would kill themselves at my weight AND some people would kill to be my weight!

It's all relative girl! Average is NICE, isn't it??? I am so happy for you!
