middle aged kiwi.
I am here because of my midlife crisis.
Compared to some I don't have a lot to loose.About 20kg(44lb). It is enough with my body type(apple/athletic)even on my 6 foot frame to make me look 10 years older, frumpy and pregnant. I am depressed.I have always had a leaning to depression,an artistic temperament. All the times I have been happy I have been skinny enough to feel bold enough to stand out,be a human work of art,dye my hair unnatural colours,be outrageous. At 204 odd pounds(93 kgs)I am not outrageous.I don't even like my boring tshirts without a boring over shirt to hide the muffin top, sorry three tiered cake top, oozing over the biggest pair of jeans I own. Enough.Time is precious.I am 40 in June.I want my happiness back.I don't want to feel old any more. Back to Atkins 2002.The only way I know that works. 3.2 kg(7lb) down in 16 days.It would have been more but for self sabotage. |

Yes but it doesn't kill your hair. Because that's already dead. :-D One of my most favorite quotes is: Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death.
I'd say that goes for many of us! |

The amount of bleach I put on my hair would have killed it if it were live

Well I took the punishment for eating a few biscuits(cookies) out of an over developed sense of manners.I gained about half a pound(200gm) instead of losing any overnight.
It could have been a lot worse. I will try and get back on track do some heavy housework, some exercises and eat to plan today. My mouth says I am in ketosis but as the ketosticks have gone up to NZ$26 a pack I can't tell for sure. Breakfast was a cold sausage, 2 eggs cooked in butter and coffee with HWC. Snack was a strip of cheese(1oz maybe?) Don't know what lunch will be,something involving chicken breast. Dinner is a low carb pot roast simmering in the slow cooker. |

I have busy.I made tuna and egg muffins and oopsies(but to Atkins 72 recipe so revolution rolls really.)
I am currently trying to understand why the minute Dr Atkins died they changed his diet making it just as hard and slow to lose on as any other diet? Calorie counting?bah.never. I am doing Atkins 1972 as best I can as I have all the books for 2002 and the internet.I will be keeping my eyes open for a cheap copy of the original book... |

Had a bad patch, back on track but thinking I might hack off my hair.I damaged it bleaching it before reading up on how.I can hardly brush it dry and can hardly comb it wet.If I hack it off about 1 or 2 inches long I can start again.

Chop! Always helps with a fresh start.
I wondered about how much hair weighs and was shocked to learn it's only a few ounces. My hair is mid to lower back and there's a ton of it. Still...a few ounces? I was hoping ten pounds or so? Why does it feel so much lighter to have it cut then? I don't get it. |

Maybe because at the hairdressers when we feel the difference we go from long and wet to shorter and dry?Water is 1kg/2.2lb for 1 lt/1quart.

No, its not. I wondered the same - my hair is past my waist. So I got DH to hold it up while i weighed myself. It removed a measly 100gms. 100 g = 3.527 oz according to Google.

Ha! Love it! I should have specified. What I read was between .5-2 ounces. I figured it was more for someone with more hair. So that sounds right on. Actually, I wonder if I could weigh it on my food scale. Too bad I'm so lazy right now!

Mine isn't long/healthy enough to even show up on my scale at all I think. It went really light and fluffy after I overbleached it.
I just hate how reality TV trash it looks |

I am trying to get brave enough to get the chop.My twenty year old daughter said she would be happy to cut it and I have talked someone through the haircut before but I am a little nervous.
I gave in and ate a couple of marshmallow eggs(they come in pineapple lump flavour).Oh well it is done now. |

I was on steroids for a medical issue. It totally fried my already short hair (at the time). I used hemp seed oil and had my stylist cut it off. It was her advice to chop it. I felt so much better, and moved forward with healthy locks. I get so attached to my hair, so I know it's hard.

Dh is the reason my hair is so long. He just cant bear for me to cut it
Ive been reading on the forum that the high protein in the LC diet improves hair quality and growth, so it might not take long to have hair you can play with again kiwistars |

I take Biotin and it helps, and I took prenatal vitamins to help in that area as well (now I just take a regular women's multi-vitamin and it does OK but not as good as prenatals for hair and nails). I'm very good to my hair after those years of steroid frying it. Actually, CO works wonders on hair. Most oils do, really. Macadamia and Avocado oils are some that I put in my hair products.

I use CO for everything.Moisturiser, food, appetite suppression and I slather it on before any bleach or chemical dye until it is dripping.
I leave it on for a few hours then put the dye or bleach straight over it.It seems like it would get in the way but it actually prevents excessive damage to the proteins in the hair, protects the scalp as well as helping it to dye or bleach faster and more evenly.Great stuff. |

Well I did it!!I handed some scissors and a rough idea to my 20 year old autistic daughter and let her cut my hair!It sounds like "hold my beer and watch this.." but she did an amazing job and it looks like a sort of punk Mia Farrow from 'Rosemary's baby'.
Now some dye.I was going to wait until 190lb but it was just too much to handle. |
