Focus's Journey From Gigantic To Plumpish....

Hi Everyone ,

Wanted to start a journal to keep track of my weightloss and my food intake. Hopefully it will help me stay on track.

A little about me. I am from UK, where the Queen lives In 2006 I was at my highest weight of 353lbs as I was struggling to breathe and could not even walk properly I somehow started on a low carb diet. I didnt really follow any plan or know much about it just generally ate meat and veg. Anyway within 2 years I somehow went down to 199lbs but I couldnt keep it up and slowly the weight piled on. I struggled every year to try to go on back on a diet and lose the weight again and I did have success a couple of times but each time i ended up failing and putting all the weight i lost and more back on.

Jan 1st this year I was at my 2nd highest of 316.5lb went right back on low carb. Lost 11lbs in my first month and then in Feb I miracliously found this site and it has totally helped me get through Feb with a 13.25lbs lost .

Anyway that's where I am now. Total lost so far this time round is 24.25lbs. Really hope this thread can keep me on track and I can use it as a guide for when I am struggling. x

Just come back from swimming I love it. I could stay in the pool the whole day. However I only went for an hour. Good enough for me. This is currently my only form of real exercise. Been going once a week for the last 3 weeks and it has definitely helped move the scales along. Hoping to up it to twice a week from next week,

Menu for today:

L - Mixed salad with 1/2 matheson sausage with italian dressing
S - sausage
D - Fish in peri peri sauce and broccoli and carrots.

Going out for friends birthday tomo night, hope the little drinking i do doesnt make me gain weight. x

Weight stayed the same this morning. Abit disappointed as I did a good hour swim last night. However I have a feeling tomorrow's will be better. Only difference in yesterday plan was that i had less to eat than normal.

Thinking tonight will involve more drinking than eating. Who knows liquid diet might be good for one day .

Goal for March 285

Current weight is 293.5. I can't wait to see the eighties, havent seen 8 in such a long time.

Had a big challenge tonight, went to a all you can eat buffet however i had plan to just stick with meat and veg and i did it!! this place i went to had a big dessert section, i love me some sweet stuff, but i resisted!! This time i really want to lose weight!!

Was planning on going swimming tomorrow but the weather is so cold here, it keeps snowing, i get ill so easily i dont want to risk going swimming and catching a cold. Might have to leave it for when the weather is abit more warmer. Disappointed as i love swimming. x

Hi MagicDen,

Yes ive always known low carbing was the way but ive always struggled to stay on plan. This time was different. I think this time because im not following no specific plan, not atkins, south beach etc. I am just low carbing in general. There have been days when i have been off plan but then i made myself 100% the next day. I always found when i ate off plan the next day i struggled majorly with carb cravings, so once i have one clean day its so much easier to get back on track.

Did actually go swimming as i really wanted to do some exercise. Whole body is achey now but worth it.

Current weight is 291lb. I really want to see 289 as havent seen a new number in ages! x

Even though ive been up and down the same 5 lbs this whole month i just measured myself and ive lost another 2.5inches from around my waist. Thats the biggest part of me and the part i obviously want to lose inches on the most. Cant remember the last time i measured but going to start keeping track more often.

So i have now lost 7.5inches from my waist since 1st Jan. So happy with that!! x

I was struggling this morning. Was thinking i wanted to go off plan. All started when i weighed this morning and i am up 1lb from yesterday! I feel like i am never going to hit the 28lbs mark. Which is one of the goals i really wanted to see.

As i thought about it more, my mind started changing. What would i eat if i went off plan.

For breakfast i could imagine having sausage or bacon toastie. (two slices of toast with either the bacon or sausage inside like a sandwich) but i thought about how it would taste. Soggy bread with the meat inside. What was the thing that made it taste nice? it was the sausage or bacon. Which i could have anyway, so why eat soggy bread which i wouldnt enjoy.

If i fancied a burger, the bun was just a carrier, something to hold the meat and lettuce together. I could easily make a big mac salad bowl. I made it the other night and it was the big thing i had eaten new in a long time. So why would i cheat on that?

Then i thought about pizza, the best thing about the pizza is the topping. The cheese, pepperonis and vegetables. The crust is normally just left untouched. Again i can eat the topping now, why cheat on that when i can actually eat it now on plan?

The last thing i thought about was fries. Now i havent found a subsitute for this yet. Although turnip fries have come close in the past, however have gone off them abit. However i remembered the last time i ate fries and remembered how they tasted to me. They tasted really potatoey, like when mcdonalds fries have gone cold and they tasted horrible. I am now seriously questioning why i even had these crazy thoughts of eating off plan. I couldnt see anything that i could gain from doing this except more lbs.

After all that I have got myself back into the right frame of mind. I talked and thought my way back to not cheating. x

Have started using a tracker to keep a note of what i eat to compare fat/protein/carb counts.

I think a reason i have been gaining weight could be due to high calorie count and carb counts. Been in the 50g group these last few days. Could explain it. Friday which is a normal day worth of eating for me was in 30g group. Just worked out todays food intake and it be in the 30g so hopefully tomo will show a loss. If so I will know 30g of carb is my go to figure. Anything more could be mean gain.

March was a bad month for me. Didnt manage to lose in March but actually gained 1.5lb this was entirely my fault. I think I spent half the month off plan and the other half on so surprised in a way i didnt gain more.

What i am happy about is that it is now April, brand new month and still doing low carbing. Been back on clean low carb for the last two days now. Current weight is 290.25lbs. Really want to see 80s.

Tonight is going to be tough as I have a friends leaving drinks to go to. Will stick with Vodka and diet coke as know thats no carbs just hope it doesnt stall me. Might be a good idea to avoid the scales for the next few days incase it shows an untrue figure but i cant control my scale addiction lol so probably will weigh myself.

This time last year I had given up on low carbing. I had as usual thought 1st Jan diet time, by 1st April it was off the diet plan 100% and meant i regained any weight i had just lost. Today 4th April and i am still low carbing small achievements for me! I keep trying to drum into my head this isnt a diet, its a lifestyle change. Hopefully this time it will finally stick in. I love the way i feel now. i do enjoy food way too much but i do love the food i eat now. I cant stop eating higher carb foods forever so when i do eat them i will make sure im 100% clean afterwards to prevent the scales from climbing. Forever is a long time got to find my way somehow. x

Today's weight 292lbs. Gained due to too much alcohol consumtion last night. Had a wicked time though and it is a total one off. Probably only drink 5 times in the year for special occasions so wont make a habit of this. Hoping this will go down by tomorrow.

March I was constantly between 290-295lbs so cant wait to finally see the eighties. Going to aim to do some exericise this weekend and distract myself from eating junk or too much carbs.

Goal for Monday to be at least 290 or less. And exercise some on both days.

At my lowest weight this year so far:

02/04-293.75
03/04-291.50
04/04-290.25
05/04-292 - alcohol weight gain
06/04-289.75
08/04-289.50
09/04-289

but i am still struggling to stay on plan. I don't know what is wrong with me sometimes I wanna see the scales go down yet i cant control that carb monster inside of me.

The lowest weight ive been in the last 2 years is 287.75 so i really want to get to my goal for this month of 285lbs because i know i havent been that number since 2011.

Today should be easier as working most of the day, then off to swimming, then by the time im home just enough time to have something for dinner. Day over! x

It looks as though you are doing something to get the scale to budge. One day at a time, one change at a time and it all adds up to something better. Keep it up!

BTW- How does one make turnip fries?

Turnip fries are so easy to make, just slice up turnips good frie sizes and deep fry. First time i ever had i was in love. Not sure why this time around it doesnt agree with me.

I am doing fine and it looks like you are doing good thus far. The turnips sound good, I have never had a turnip. Oh wait I take that back I do believe my oriental girlfriend in college made Kimchi with turnips. Maybe. I Kimchi and haven't had that in a long time. Do you think one could bake the turnips instead? Are you just not liking the taste of turnips to "have gone off them a bit?" I must say I like how people from the UK talk I think it is cute. I hope I haven't embarrassed you but I have been watching alot of the show Supersize vs. Superskinny that came out of the UK and I just adore listening to the accents. We call food that is ordered out ( carry out) and you in the UK call it (take away.) So interesting to me. Anyway have a beautiful Tuesday.
