Restarting ATKINS 72... with no exercise possible...

Long ago, in a previous life... some switch was thrown & I began gaining weight like crazy & uncontroled. Too much going on then & in the intervening years to go into here.
I had failed at other attempts at weight control & was discouraged. About that time I saw Dr Atkins on morning TV & soon after found his book (1972 hardcover) in a yard sale. (An omen?) I found I could stay on it... but could not go off induction... I got stuck at -84.
Then I suddenly had mysterious symptoms & found out I have Multiple Sclerosis. (Again too much to discuss here) That was the Spring 2001... I remain on a boatload of meds.
I drifted away from LC or bent the rules when I knew the result... It's not like I didn't know it would not work.
12 years later, have gained most of the weight back. Even worse my lack of activity has shifted weight from muscles to belly... Thanks to the MS, I can barely make a couple of steps & should use a cane or walker to prevent more falls & injuries (had some).

Older & wiser, I am restarting. I am still burning the carbs out of my system... bad cravings right now... I can feel the saliva in my mouth looking for the sugars/carbs. Right now, I need to stay out of the carbs. Knowing how this works is not the same as living it... again...

I am uncomfortable at this weight. It's unhealthy. I need to make this work.

2.22.13 BEFORE: 241# (morning BVDs before eating/drinking) A long way to go...

I miss the old me, before MS... was an athletic outdoorsman, horseman, scuba diver. A previous life.
I am extremely fortunate that more than 12 years since my Dx I can still stand, walk a few steps with support, get out on my own.
The carb craving has pretty much abated... looking forward to the pounds coming off.

Thankyou for the Welcome. I am still in week 1. I am testing & keeping a food/hunger/craving journal. The purpose is to see how much of what, I need to get to my next meal. WHEN I get hungry. IF I get any cravings (there must be too many carbs/hidden sugars). I will use the results to plan next week's food shopping.
I didn't initially eat enough (fat?) yesterday, (turkey buger cooked in butter for lunch) also got hungry, ended up needing & eating a snack though stayed on program. I Increased breakfast today & did not get hungry before lunch. Had beef burger & feel better satisfied.

I was -7 in a little more than a week. I wanted to add a bit more fat & variety & have been using an oz or less of baking type walnuts... last night, I snacked on them. Probably 2-3 oz.
Good side is I was throughly cleaned out this morning... bad part is I gave back that last pound. I know I have trouble with carb cravings & clearly I can not trust myself. This is a problem.
So I'm back to INDUCTION... with no additions...

I put the walnuts into a closed tuperware container, only taking out 1/2 walnut at a time. Total ~ 1.5 walnuts during the day.
Tuesday AM weigh in. 233# had trouble getting the needle to stop bouncing (232-3). I was hungry this morning. I think I successfully got back on track by recognizing my mistake.

I've had a few carb slip ups but picked myself right back up. (Fed a half bag of salted sunflower seeds to the birds!!) Mr No Control!! Wife had some I could handle a spoonful a day... not the ones I bought.
I haven't strayed far but avoided the scale for 2 weeks. Today, 224 -17 (-2 more). So that's really on track, 1 a week.
THe slip ups may not have set me back on the scale but each is an emotional trial... better avoided. ONWARD!!

I've been sticking to plan... mostly perfect with a very few minor boo-boos, which I recognized, corrected & now on my personal 'no fly list'! I've been stuck at -17 for a bit but yesterday I was 221/-20 (got off & reweighed) and confirmed today -20.
A little "happy dance" but I'm still obese so no time to slack off. The last 3 have not showed up on my waist band or clothes fit. So be it. As I stated, significant exercise is not possible but it is working, slowly with no hunger & no real issues. I'm sticking.
