I have decided I'm finally ready to donate all my 2x and 3x clothes. I have maintained longer than a year and the closet space needs to be freed up.

Wish me luck!

Good luck! I’m not sure how long it will take me to be brave enough to do that! I’m thinking of getting rid of most of my bigger clothes, but just keeping a couple of basics.

Good for you, Carly! You're going to feel so good when they're gone. What a lot of space that will free up, and you know someone will be able to get some real good out of those items.

The College and Career Program where I work is collecting gently used items for the Seniors that got internships and jobs. So, yes, I know the clothes will go to good use and that makes me feel good.

I've been at my new position at work for almost 1 year. It will be a year on May 13th, 2014.

I remain convinced that I never would have sought out that promotion if I had not lost the weight.

The sharp rise in my self confidence still amazes me. Sometimes I step back and say, "Who is that out going, outspoken, woman?"

I've had great opportunities in this position and I'm taking on a few more career related ventures.

I finally have the drive, energy and desire to do it.

I still love fasting and truly feel that I will do this for the rest of my life.

The below is from a great thread Hunger is not an emergency

Dr. J. Berardi wrote this in his e-book and every now and then I re-read it for perspective. Thought someone else might want to read it today. He wrote this when he was experimenting with Intermittent Fasting.

Google: artofmanliness Intermittent Fasting: A Beginner’s Guide

Hunger is not an emergency
Many people think hunger is an emergency and panic when it kicks in. But hunger
is just a feeling. Commit an entire day to fasting, and you’ll realize that hunger
really isn’t something to panic over. Nothing really bad happens if you miss a meal
or two. After all, our prehistoric ancestors didn’t have a Taco Bell on every corner.
We evolved to deal well with hunger. Allow yourself to get hungry. Then sit with the
feeling rather than trying to make it go away immediately.
Physical vs. psychological hunger
Often when people think they’re hungry, they’re not experiencing true physiological
(body) hunger, but rather psychological (head) hunger. The better you know the
difference between the two, the better you understand your body’s signals. By
the end of the day, you’ll feel real body hunger. In the future, use that feeling as a
reference point to interpret your appetite correctly.
Eating as a privilege
I’m the Director for a non-profit called The Healthy Food Bank. We raise funds and
food for food banks throughout North America. Most of that goes to families who
are “food-insecure.” They’re not people sleeping on sewer grates. They’re people
who are barely scraping by. They have food, just not enough to feed their kids
every meal, every day. Taking a day to fast reminds us that there are people out
there who fast regularly - not voluntarily - but because they don’t have food. We’re
reminded that eating is a privilege.
Eating as a responsibility
Eating is also a responsibility. When we cram our bodies full of fast, processed, lowquality
food, we’re not taking that responsibility very seriously. A day without food
resets our perspective. We can remember to not take eating for granted.
Food marketing
Food advertising and marketing often flies under our radar when we’re fed. But
that’s exactly what makes it so effective: It works on our subconscious. When
fasting, everything changes. Food marketing jumps out at us. We’re aware of the
manipulation. With awareness comes power. No more mindless junk food runs
prompted by billboards or radio commercials. Now you’re in control.

Knowing that hunger is not an emergency has been super freeing.
I never really had that panicky feeling like I must eat, but knowing that I can go 36 hours with little food (200 calories) has shifted my mindset about eating.

Particularly, eating only when I'm physically hungry. Never eating just because it's lunch time or because it's a social gathering.

Thanks for sharing, Carly. I think JUDDD has been great in helping us understand that hunger is not always an emergency. We have been thriving with out eating all of the time.

It's a good reminder, Carly. Our bodies are amazing machines that can deal pretty expertly with all kinds of different situations. Learning to trust it to do what it needs to is tough, but definitely worth the effort.

Have a fun time!

The last few days I've been batting the idea around about losing a few more pounds. As of last night I was 120.0.

I feel pudgier and I know part of it is that I haven't been doing weights at the gym, but I also feel like I'd just like to be more in the 115lb range.

The other part of me says "Really???? Do you think 5 pounds will make that much difference?"

I know part of it is my "fat head" talking. I'm not sure why it's loud right now, since overall things are fairly good.

In fact, I've eased up on DDs by not counting as closely and by increasing what I eat from about 200 calories to around 500 or so (not weighing everything so it's a ballpark guess.)

I also found out today, that after July 4th, I will be granted an interview for a promotion I'm interested in, but my "fat head" is still telling me I need to be thinner.

I'm not rushing into it and I really want to figure out why all of a sudden I feel the need to go lower.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I think you're smart to wait to make that decision until your "fat head" shuts up. And it will. Could it be that you're undergoing some post weightloss body recompositioning that Nancy/gotsomeold talks about, and it's making you feel like you are getting bigger or softer in some areas?

You do NOT need to be thinner to go for that new position!!! You are capable, competent, and attractive just the way you are.

I'm sure doing some resistance training would make you feel firmer, but it might make you gain some marginal weight too. As long as that won't bug you. I'm simply amazed at how much firmer I am all over now. I'm sure I've gained at least a little poundage due to the muscle, but have no idea since I'm not weighing. Still way more fat over the muscle I want to lose, but I'm able to see and feel my muscle shape. At your weight, you'll just start seeing firm, defined muscle tone, and I think you would love it.

I don't know if you've looked into YAYOG, but there are so many different variations to the moves, I'll bet you could find a way to make it work for you without aggravating your back and other conditions.

I think that getting back to resistence work is part of what I need to do. Maybe it's the whole thing. I liked the workout I was doing at the gym, but my pain level has not been the best and I'm just not wanting to hurt anything any worse than it already is.

I have three 30 minute sessions paid for with the trainer already, so maybe I just need to make that happen.

I hope the "fat head" talk is not related to the upcoming interview... I don't think it is...

I didn't even know I was going to apply untill the end of last week and I think the "fat head" had already started.

The part that is kind of sick is that I know I shouldn't say anything to friends or co-workers about wanting to lose a few more pounds because they will look at me like I'm nuts. That is really

Carly I just stopped in to get caught up. If this helps you any I ask my doctor where I should stop at. I am 5'2 like you. They don't have charts any more like they use to so I was not for sure if I was wanting too much to be little. So here was his answer. If you are 5'2 135 is low enough. That will put you a a 25 bmi which is right where you should be. So that being said you are all ready 15 under that so be careful. You don't want to get too low.

That job has nothing to do with you being skinner. You already have all it takes to do it. You are a very smart person. Walk in there and own the place. You can do it at the size you are. If you don't think so relook at the picture of you chothes you gave away. You are past that. Way past that size and you do not want to get too low like Karen Carpenter did. She thought she had to be smaller for us to listen to her. Now we can only listen to her on old records or golden oldies stations. She was a very beautiful girl like you who thought she had to be smaller for her fans. Sadly her body took over when she got to low and it contorled her. Please rethink this. My coworkers are saying the same thing about me at 136 to 140 area. You and I b0th know that they are just trying to stop me so I will not make them look bad. I am know where near being to low. You are a very beautiful young lady. Be happy where you are and enjoy life. If you start to go up then yes by all means bring it back to 120. Its time to enjoy life beautiful one!
