Really motivating to see people better themselves, a massive well done to you! I want to start JUDDD, but not sure if I should do it low carb on both days, or just one, or neither. Just been looking at different threads and looking at everyone's ways of doing it but still struggle to find my own plan. I'm only 20, 21 in March and would love to be healthier and better about myself by then. Can I ask how you did yours? LC or low fat or just counting calories?

I started low carb, but I need carbs in my life so after the first month just counted calories. I truly can't imagine that there is a more pleasurable way to lose weight than getting to eat what you want every other day. It is also totally sustainable. I'm doing EOD since the new year and still love this WOE almost 2 years into it.

Thanks so much for the quick reply I think I may start off LC and see how it goes since eating LC for me isn't too hard. Sorry I'm a newbie, what does EOD mean?

Every Other Day- On JUDDD we have a high calorie day followed by a low calorie day and we just rotate.

I still love everything about it. I maintained for 7 mos with 5:2, but have been doing EOD since the new year since DW has started JUDDDing, too.

I still get fantastic energy on DDs, but am overall much more energetic at all times. I no longer have diabetes- period! No more injections or meds for that. My self confidence has improved 10 fold and because of that I received a great promotion in May and a fabulous evaluation in mid-January. I get to enjoy all my size 4Ps that I kept during the time I was heavy and have actually had some fun shopping trips. Something I use to absolutely dread. This 5'2" chica didn't look cute in size 20.

So far 2014 has been the year to get physically more active and get this body into better shape.

I've been working out 5-7x per week since late December and feel really good about it.

I'm feeling thinner at 125 than I ordinarily would- that is a good thing

I was really noticing in the shower tonight that I feel thinner and tighter. The scale holds at 125, but even DW said I looked quite thin the other day and she usually doesn't comment one way or the other.

I'm thoroughly enjoying my workouts and really wish I had more time to invest in them. I feel a great pay-off on many levels.

So for Thanksgiving Week DW and I are going on a cruise. We will be sailing to Belize , Cosamuel, Honduras and a couple other places.

I want to look slamming in my tankinis. Maybe even get a couple new ones.

I meet with the personal trainer at the gym tomorrow.

I should mention that the scale has been holding 122 even and last night DW said "you are getting tiny!"

Sounds like a fun Thanksgiving week, Carly. You guys deserve a nice getaway like that.

I read over on the threads about your session with the trainer. Very interesting! I hope you'll continue updating us on what you learn in your sessions. If you're holding firm at 122, and working out like you have been, you've most certainly gained muscle and lost fat. Fantastic! Just when you thought you had leveled out at maintenance, you continue to inspire!

I haven't bought any recently. The ones I have are from before I gained. I think I got those a TJ Maxx or Marshal's, but that was 2007.

Hope they aren't a thing of the past...

I made another session date for Saturday. I feel like I'm getting tighter and smaller. My skinny clothes are getting loose. I'm not complaining... Not one bit.

The trainer taught me a great HIIT workout on the treadmill. I did it on my own today. He also taught me a routine with resistance tubes. Those were killer. He showed me some of the leg machines that should be OK for my back. He said do the arm/ leg weights as heavy as I can go. Try 3 sets of 8-12 reps. He showed me some core stuff on the big ball.

I'll keep you all posted on the sessions with the trainer.

This was the general outline he gave me for the treadmill HIIT.

The HIIT he taught me for the treadmill was- 2 minutes walking at 3 miles per hour, 20 seconds jogging 4 miles per hour. Walk again for a minute at 3 mph. Jog 30 seconds 5 miles per hour. Walk 1 minute. Run 45 seconds 5mph. Walk 2 minutes and repeat going up to running for spurts at 6 mph.

I did the walking at 3.4 mph and did several 45 second spurts running at 5 miles per hour. I didn't bump up to 6 mph today. I'm still sore and don't fully trust my balance yet at the faster speeds.

It felt great to run, even though I didn't actually clear it with my surgeon who said 5 years ago that running would not be something I could do, due to the impact. I think 45 second spurts are alright (like I have MD after my name or something )

I tried that today. I'm wondering how it would be on the elliptical so there's no impact? It worked fine on the treadmill, but I just prefer on the road because I don't have to fiddle with the buttons. Just slow down and speed up. But I know that's SO much harder impact so hopefully my joints hold up when I do it. But then again I like the variety, too, of running on TM or pavement and then lifting and maybe a class here or there. I can't do the same thing over and over again and esp. not cardio for 90 minutes. I think that's overkill.

I have an elliptical at home and I'm sure it will work fine on the elliptical. I already go gang busters on the elliptical since there is no impact. I prefer to walk/ run outside as well, but today was a high of 23* so that takes a lot of the fun out of it.

This was posted in another thread, but I felt like it also belonged here:

On February 20th, 2012 I looked at my reflection and despised what I saw. I was obese and my health was terrible. I was tired and in pain All. The. Time.

At that very moment I knew I would do absolutely anything- go to any length to lose weight, feel better and get my life back.

I started that day. Every day for the next 5 weeks I ate celery for lunch and for dinner lettuce with 3oz of grilled chicken. Every day for 5 weeks. I lost 10 pounds, but I was miserable.

I had been visiting LCF and had stumbled upon JUDDD. I read and read and read.

I said I can do that. I started JUDDDing on 3/28/12. I lost almost 70 pounds with what felt like less effort than I lost the first 10.

DDs were hard in the beginning- definitely. I didn't feel too well for the first 4 weeks on DDs, but all of a sudden that changed and I started feeling amazing on DDs. I got to goal in February on 2013.

I'm below goal a year later. I love JUDDD or 5:2, which ever I'm doing at the moment. I wanted to lose weight and feel better, but I got SO MUCH MORE!!!!

I became self-confident instead of self-conscious. I became energetic instead of fatigued. My pain is less, I workout most days of the week and I received a promotion at work in May 2013.

I learned that food is not the enemy. Food is not a weapon. Food is not a punishment. I know that it is something that can be enjoyed in moderation while at the same time I know that hunger is not an emergency.
