I'm thinking about experimenting...

I'm thinking of doing a 2 hour eating window, but eating every day.
I'm pretty close to the 2 hour eating window right now. Probably 13 out of 14 days I only eat between 8:30pm and 10pm. I do have coffee throughout the day. Sometimes with half and half, sometimes with skim milk and sometimes with SF creamer.

The last 2-3 weeks on DDs I have felt really, really, hungry after eating my 200-250 calorie bedtime snack. In theory I should maintain by eating a reasonable dinner each night, but I'm scared to gain.

What do my JUDDD buds think? I don't know if my body is just getting tired of these low DDs and maybe I just need to bring my DDs up to 600-700 calories. There are luckily so many great options with IF.

I'm open to suggestions. I need some time to catch up on all the HDE/IE threads for confidence that I can eat every day and not gain.

When you said you've been feeling very hungry, my gut reaction is that your body is telling you something. It may very well need more fuel, and you have been increasing your activity level in recent months. You may very well need more now.

If you're afraid of gaining (which evidently often does happen, a little bit, in the beginning of HDE/IE) maybe try adding 100 calories or so, see what happens, and then add another 100, etc. That way you can track what really is happening. Just a suggestion. Good luck figuring it out! It's kinda scary, but fun mixing things up a bit, I think.

I'm amazed you can go so long without eating every day. I know what you mean about being scared to gain. I maintained spot on for 2 months of strictly HDE. I started at 125.6 on April 8th and was 125.6 on June 8th. It was surprising, and I was very nervous when I first started. Have you read Josie Spinardi's book?

I haven't read it, but from what I understand I'm already pretty much an intuitive eater. I never eat unless I'm truly hungry and I stop as soon as I'm satisfied. My fear is about the sleepwalk eating. I don't always know when it happens and have figured my 2 DDs balanced out any sleep eating that occurred during the week

I haven't decided yet what to. I may just raise up my DDs to 600 calories or so. That should be alright in maintenance.

So, I discussed the plan with DW this morning and I had decided to do 3 weeks of fasting till dinner/ bedtime snack, but not restricting 2 of the days to DD calories. I felt great about it until this evening when I felt like I had tons to eat at a graduation party BBQ. Now I feel like I should have a DD tomorrow.

Ugh... I liked the plan and probably should just stick to it, but I'm doubting myself

Well, I've decided to start today with 3 weeks of eating Dinner/ Bedtime snack everyday, but fasting until then beside coffee.

Here it goes!

You'll never know until you try it, Carly, so I'm glad you're giving it a whirl. It's just a learning experiment anyway. If you put on any pounds, it's easy enough to get them off again quickly. And you may just find it makes maintenance easier and more fun! Good luck!

It will probably work really well for maintenance, and you may even lose a little. Here's one man's blog who found the method very effective.

How I Lost Weight Eating One Meal A Day: I lost 30lbs over 5 months eating 1 meal in the evening. This is my experience…

I had a platter of appetizers. It has become one of my favorite go-to dinners. I keep a big assortment in the freezer and then pop the amount I want in the oven. They are baked in 12 minutes. Can't get easier than that on a work night.

I'll check the link out later. I doubt I will lose. My maintenance number is about 1,500-1,600. I probably will eat less than this most nights, but just 2 nights going over will probably off-set any potential losses.

You will not hear me complain if I should happen to shed 5-6 pounds, though.

You might be surprised, Carly. I hope you are! A plateful of appetizers sounds really good - what a great idea! Do you have any specific ones you recommend?

Some of the Stop and Shop ones are actually really good. I usually don't like the store brand, but their mini quiches are really good. They also have Spanakopata that I like. I like several brands of toquitos and mini tacos. I like the Farmrich appetizers and Tostino's pizza rolls.

There are so many choices and the fact that they are frozen rule out sleep eating so I can keep a bunch in the freezer and not worry.

I also found Enlightened Ice Cream pops. They are only 70 calories. They are delicious and pretty big.

Great recommendations - thanks. I've been really into the frozen fruit bars lately too. They are a decent substitute for ice cream most of the time.

I am in love with the Enlightened ice cream bars. Even if I eat 2 it's only 140 calories and tons of yum.

I've been doing dinner every night since Monday. Last week I had my regular DD on Monday and Wednesday and started this dinner every night thing on Monday. I like it but my weight has creeped up a touch. Of course TOM should arrive tomorrow or Saturday, so I really can't say the 2-3 pound bounce isn't just TOM.

More shall be revealed! It's 8:12pm and I can't wait to have dinner SOON!

Oh, I could live off appetizers LOL I'm coming to your house for dinner!! I am known for my appetizers anytime we have a family gathering since since I love them so much (I'd rather skip the main meal and just eat those). I love the S&S frozen ones but also make my own sometimes. My favorite day of the year is New Years Eve because we just snack on appetizers from about 6pm til midnight

I'm the same way. I could pass on any entrée for good appetizers. I haven't had the time or energy to make my own recently, but feel free to post your favorite recipes right here.

I'm feeling but still on crutches. I am able to walk but they want to be sure I'm healed and stay on crutches for a few more weeks.

The appetizers I make are pretty simple. For family gatherings I'll use those little phyllo cups you get in the freezer section and fill them either with a "fajita" type mixture topped with cheese or a spanikopita mixture (spinach, feta). They don't need to bake that long so they are quick. I always try to have a tray of veggies and dip to to make me feel like I'm eating healthy

Carly, I had to search for Enlighten ice cream bars. I hadn't seen them; but, will look for them now.

I don't know that I could eat just 1 meal a day. It's ok on DD's; but, for UD's, I don't know. I will be looking to see how you do! Surely, I will lose this weight and need to be on maintenance again at some point!! You are doing so good!!

Thanks Shari! I like it so far. Today we had a work get together at 5:30pm I had some snacks, came home and walked for an hour and just had dinner. That's probably overdoing it, but that doesn't happen often.

I'll see how my weigh is as soon as TOM gets here and goes

Okay Carly girl...I've spent the last 2 hours devouring this thread and all I can say is: Way to GOOOOOOOO!!!

And just so you know I'm starting JUDDDD tomorrow because of your awesome posts!!!

I do have one question I'd like to ask you tho if you don't mind: Did you have an issue with saggy skin and if so, what were you able to do about it...(I'm 52 years old and scared to death I'll end up with sagging skin)

Thanks for your commitment Carly, it just goes to show what a class act you truly are

Hi Patty! I hope you will love JUDDD! I do, sadly, have a lot of saggy skin on my stomach, upper thighs and upper arms.

The arms really bother me. I'm not in the way of showing my stomach or upper thighs off so I cope with that. I will hopefully be able to have plastic surgery on my arms at some point.

Obviously, I'd rather have saggy skin than be obese, but I'd like my arm sag gone!
