The Journey Begins

Hello

My name is Rachel. My story is not unlike anyone else. I just am at the point in my life where I have finally found the nerve to make it about me. I have been a wife and mother for twenty-five plus years and I am not getting any younger. I am not sure what I am doing or how I am going to make it work but I know that if I do not start then where I begin is where I will end and that is not a good place to be.

I have beed married for 26 years this coming July, Me and DH have 9 children ages 25 to 1, We have 3 boys and 6 girls and our 1st grandbaby is due this summer. I am so excited and blessed.

For the past 20 years I have been following DH around in the Army and that has been my mission. Now that things have slowed down I have gotten my AS in Business, BA in Early Childhood Education and am scheduled to graduate with my MAed in Family and Community services in October.

Life is funny sometimes it throws you all kinds of things you don't expect. My DD Jane is going to be 8 this year she was to be my last baby but when I get big in my britches as my momma use to say God will sit you down and that he did. I had a baby in May 2010 and another in November 2011. They are a joy, and they keep me busy if you can imagine being me not being busy.

I have been on Induction since Feb 1 and so far down 5 lbs. It was a little difficult at first. I think that I am starting to get the hang of it. I welcome all input and suggestions.

I suffer from type 2 diabetes which came about with the birth of last baby. With my dr. blessing and 30 pounds gone that issue will resolve itself we both agree. My final weight goal is 140. So here the Journey begins.

Okay 10 days in and I am doing well I think. It has been challenging to say the least. I think the hardest things for me is finding what works. I know they say that journaling will help if you know how to use the tool to make you more efficient. Well I can honestly say that makings this a priority in your weight loss walk is essential for success. I have really been paying attention to what I am eating all of my carbs and thinking twice about the food choices I need to make for you weight loss to continue and for my overall health to continue to improve. I know that works for one may not work for another so you really have to take the time to find what works for you.

Few things I have incorporated:
1. When in doubt measure it. I have learned that my eyes are not as good as I thing and what I think is a portion was not really a portion at all.
2. Feeding my body to be healthy and eating when I am hungry.
3. I ask my self how bad do you want it.

I have four days left on induction and this week I am going to work on journaling everyday even if it is something little. Till tomorrow.

Hey Paula
I have no idea I have been doing so good on induction I am afraid to go forward. Do you know how long you can stay on the induction phase? I think I will stay on it for a minute until I learn what is next. I have one more week of before I go back to school so I am trying to tweak that plan now. What about you how did you transition?

I stayed on induction for quite a few months. It was just easier for me and I didn't mind it.

I am back . Encouraged and ready to start the day. I pray that I am to stay on track. Yesterday was a good day and I had a one pound loss. MY fasting blood sugar was 88. That is so awesome so proud of myself that I am finally starting to see the fruits of my labor in normal blood sugars. Even though I am not on insulin I have to test five time a day so I can show my doctor that they are improving daily. I am on a challenge today 25000 steps. Well I pray that everyone has a on plan day and I will be back.

Well I am a little down this morning working on pulling myself back up. I gained .06 pounds not a big gain still one I am concerned with. I have been back over my eating plan and I did nothing wrong I stayed on plan. I did my normal Tuesday walk challenge which was no more than usual. But I am sure these things happen. Prayfully tomorrow I will recover what I did not lose today and then some. My blood sugars are good as well so I am going to let it go. I know that we are own worst enemies. Better days ahead.

Okay so I am truly not sure how I did. I stayed on plan but after yesterday I am unsure if what is did was wrong or not. I guess I will see tomorrow since my weight gain was so little I will have to see.

I so desired to go back to bed after walking my little ones to school this morning but not today. My other DD who is 1 will not wake up till 9:30 I do not care what is going on, she not a morning person at all. Well I will be back later to give an account I pray that everyone has a blessed on plan day.

I am still in keotsis so that is encouraging tha I did not to much damage. Thank God for grace, mercy and new beginings. I am praying just to be the same 197. I love my babies they did it big for there mom and dad this Valentine's day. Well I will see how it goes in the morning. Holding myself responsibe for my choices.

I am so excited. I did not gain not even an ounce. I guess I did better then I thought. Since yesterday was Valentine's Day I did not eat on plan kinda of hard when someone else is maiking preparing what your eating all day. Having growning kids has it's advantages my DS took me out for breakfast, my DD took me out for lunch gave me roses and my DH did dinner and gift basket big enough for me and the seven little children at home. So to say I had a busy day yesterday is an understatment. Well I am encouraged today will be my best day ever.

Tired is about all I can say about today. My two dd ran me into a brick wall today. I just wanted to crash burn and blow away. I was able to stay on plan I was a little grouchie and I wanted candy so bad that is was not even funny. I kept trying to reason in my head how much I could have and not feel deprived. While it did not work. How bad I wanted it won. I challanged myself to drink 100 oz of water today and I drank 104 oz. Well I am off to bed I am watching my georgous Godson early in the morning. Good night and God bless us all.

Well I am a little tired as you can tell it is afternoon. I did have a loss so excited not a huge one but .8 is a loss. A loss is a loss and I will take it because it is a step toward my goal. Well so far I am encouraged that next week will be awesome. I go back to class on the 19th yeah. I am a little nervous about my GPA I need to get all A's to maintain my 3.8 I can't believe that one B set me back that bad. I know I am to hard on myself but I have a high standard that even my children are expected to advance to so it is the same for me. Don't get me wrong as long as you are giving your all then that is good enough for me. Well I am off to continue the day.

Well I am tired as all outdoors. Six kids up running thru the house like it is a jungle. There is no school for them tomorrow, they have to many holidays. So I am down from my last weight in very excited. Well I am working on my 24 yo dd car today she was in an accident at the begining of the month. Thank God she is okay and the driver of the the other vehicle is okay. All the damage was cosmetic so me and the hubby will fix it and she can get it painted at Maaco. I know I can do a little bit of everything. It is so true that when God blesses the assignment the gift comes naturally. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Tired I had major tooth work done this morning and I am still in pain. I did not eat what I should have because I had to have the procedure and needed to have a good solid meal on my tummy before my procedure. My mouth hurts bad prayfully it will get better soon. Kids are out of school so I have not got as much down time as I need. I am going to pray for the best. I have lost .4 pounds and what I have learned thus far is that a loss is a loss and .2 loss everyday means almost a pound evey week and that is something to be proud of.My new challenge last eight weeks. 1. 8 8ounces of glasses of water everyday. 2. Check in once a day with journal, question, and motivation. 3. 20 net grams of carbs per day and 4. Record everything that I eat so that I can see how what I eat effects my weight as well as my bloodsugar. Well I will check in later thanks everyone for your stories. They sure help a girl like me PUSH.
