J's Journal
Hi all. I'm an on-again off-again low-carber. I've frequented this forum for years - mostly lurking and have finally decided to journal.
I've topped as high as 245 and as low as 155. 235-245: http://i.imgur.com/c2tV3.jpg http://i.imgur.com/BRwVh.jpg 155-170: http://i.imgur.com/ihLRZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/P9PL6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/LsFFM.jpg Sorry, I know I look like a jerk in that first picture - it was jokingly taken but shows a full-shot of how much weight I did lose then. I've struggled with:
Well, those are the big ones. All of those are still pretty prevalent except for the purging. Done with that. Tired of the rest. I'd love to fit in my "skinny" clothes again. More importantly I'd love to be healthy again. So, here we go: Male, 231.2lbs as of 7ish this morning. Central time. Looking to get down to 135. (I stand at a whopping 5'4" so don't be alarmed!) I'm hoping this is the last time I ride this roller coaster. I don't think my body can take much more of it - and I'm scared to death of getting so sick I can't take care of myself... the last thing I want is to be a burden on anyone. I'll post again later tonight after my day's through. Feels good to be back. |

JJJ, welcome back to LC! I have been a re-tread back to LC several times myself. Keep up with the good menus and drinking your water and you'll be in great shape.
I am glad you are not purging any longer. Eating LC can help with so many medical issues but the binging and purging is something we have to deal with on an emotional level although not eating carbs can decrease the urge to binge. After many years of emotional/stress eating I am learning to identify my triggers and deal with them. Your headaches could be from carb withdrawal or if you have decreased your caffeine. Hopefully they will subside soon. |

I'm glad too. That was back in the day (the purging). The binging never stopped unfortunately. Five or so years ago I was seeing a therapist for it - but after 6 months we parted ways... she wanted to put me on depressants and I really wanted none of that. It's a lot better than it has been but it definitely needs to stop completely. It's nice being on here because I can relate with a lot of people about it... and you're right... cutting out carbs definitely puts a halt (or at least a major roadblock) on the binging... but a small carby snack is all it takes for me to bring it back... and that's what I'd love to control one day - being able to make mistakes and not having it end in a binge by the end of the night. Thanks again! :hiya: |

JJ, congrats on the week down and the over 6 lbs lost! Looking at your menus you seem to like the same foods over and over. I do the same thing. I won't tire of a food for weeks and weeks and then all of a sudden I need something new and eat that for a while. Looks like you are staying pretty consistent with your carb levels which is great if you are enjoying what you are eating because then you'll be able to stick to your plan. Keep up the good work.

How are you feeling about food? Do you feel right now that LC is going to be doable long term in your life? |
Quote:
I do feel it is. I mean, I've done it on and off for the last five or so years... the longest running for almost two years solid...
