Thanks Debby and Cheryl for checking on me

Chiro couldn't believe how messed up my back was !
I was hurting so bad while I was there, but it is somewhat better now. Can't really call in to work..... you have to take vacation days the 1st 2 days, then go to sick leave ! Ridiculous, huh ?? Plus right now they are having trouble finding people to cover shifts.

yes, lots of food made and ready in fridge for the week DH made a huge, I mean HUGE pot of stew and a pan of cornbread so he and DS will eat that for several days.
he grilled the pork chops and I made the salmon and some okra. Along with all the rest we have lots of variety

Can't believe it's time to go back to work already. Was pretty miserable the last few days (back)

i have actually been re-thinking my love of cold weather ~~ I really don't like this rainy cold mess so I feel bad for those of you that deal with this all winter ! Maybe I just love the cold b/c I only see it on vacations ?

Hope you all have a wonderful night

Glad your back is feeling a bit better. Maybe a good night sleep will get you out of the suffering zone & ready for work.

Bad backs are just plain BAD! My DH had another problem with his 2 weeks ago. And I fear he is going to aggravate it again because he is painting our bathroom. I wanted him to wait until warmer weather and also to wait because our trip is coming up.

I hope you find some relief for yourself! Must have been that hectic doggy shower that got you all twisted up! Feel better!

Wow! That hospital of yours is for the birds. You really do need a change. I think you really should look into travel nursing for you and hubby. You can be in the cold anytime you want to be and then escape to the warmth to thaw out. Think of the possibilities! And with your 5th wheel, it's a no-brainer. I'd do it in a heartbeat. If I had a spouse or even a close friend to travel with, I'd still be doing it.

I used to do an assignment and then take a month off! I'd lose the points I would have accrued for working assignments that were closer together but I didn't give a hoot. It's no wonder I lost my mind when I stopped travel nursing and settled here and had to work week after week after month after year without any real breaks. A breakdown was inevitable.

Just thinking about travel nursing gets me jazzed up inside. I remember back when I was a lot younger, looking through my sister's RN magazines she had in the house cause she was a nurse. I'd see all those glossy ads for travel nursing and I was so drawn to the notion. I think that was my plan all along with I decided nursing was for me. The only reason I stayed in one place after getting my one year of experience after school was because I fell in love and settled in Vegas. My plan was to get the experience and then travel.

I wish I could go back in time and do things differently. I guess where I am right now isn't such a bad thing, and if I really want to go back to nursing, I can take a refresher course, get my CPR renewed, see if any acute care facilities want me and then get one or two more years of experience in a given field (whatever the agency requires). Then I can hit the road again if I so choose. Good to know I have that option.

Sorry for doing all this daydreaming on your journal. Just trying to show you the possibilities! Your hospital is not a long-term option. Boo hiss.

I'm so glad you're feeling better!!!

So glad you are feeling better today. I hate days like you had yesterday. You just want to crawl under a rock. Enjoy your time in vacation mode up near Austin. 70 degrees sounds lovely. I hear ya about the 50's. I love 50's and 60's even more.

Saw this Copied and pasted from the other thread:

My version of carnitas.

Take a 4-5lb pork roast. Rub it down with salt and chipotle paste. Put it in a baking dish, top with a cup of salsa and a diced white onion. Seal it with foil or a lid and bake at 375 for 4hrs. Pull it out, leave it covered and let it cool. This can all be done the day before.

Shred the pork by hand. Leave it in all the juice it cooked in. Put the pork, in the juice, under the broiler for 15 minutes. The top will get really crispy. Stir it all up and put it back under the broiler. Repeat this process 4-5 times. All the liquid will cook out leaving behind crispy and moist pork that is amazing. It really concentrates the pork flavor.

You can use it for tacos, nachos, enchiladas, etc. It reheats wonderfully so you could do this a day or two ahead of time. It's a favorite Round our house.

You had me at 70 degrees, then I decided it wasn't so great after reading the humidity part. What a perfect temperature. What a waste! Happy that you had a nice, relaxing day at home. Read the recipe you posted. Sounds delightful.

It's 4 degrees in my back yard right now. And it's still going south. Another winter storm is coming. Yes. Another. One. Starts at dawn, ends around 6pm. I'm working tomorrow. I will text the plow guy and request that he do my driveway before I get home from work. Otherwise, I won't be able to pull in. I wonder how much there will be when I'm trying to pull out and head for work?

Just shoot me now.

Yummy pork. We had pork chops tonight. My fave!
Your weather sounds 'humid' so sorry... sounds like there's never a time to tour Texas on a motorcycle! Crazy!

That SUCKS. You need an accountant. I'll bet there are things you can claim that you have no idea about. What about all the nursing supply-related stuff? The mileage to and from your place of employment? You drive a long way to work. Are you claiming those miles or a portion of the gasoline, car upkeep, etc?

Sounds like this year is a done-deal. I hope you find a good couple of deductions for next year. I have no deductions anymore. I keep waiting for my foreclosure to finally happen so I can go Chapter 7 and be done with all things tax return. It just keeps dragging on and on and on. I moved out of the house almost 2 years ago!

We used our accountant ..... DH gets a little money off some royalties from his deceased Dad - sends most of the money to his step-mom ( per his dad's wishes ) until she passes. It's not a lot, but adds to our total gross income :/ and, we pay the taxes on that money - not his step mom.

We need to up our contributions, but also made less money this year ( remember no raises ) ~~ need to make more and put more back ! yikes !!

They won't let us deduct mileage/wear n tear on vehicle. Just scrubs and tennis shoes, etc...

Hope your foreclosure gets resolved soon .......

Well, that's a sticky situation. I'm sorry you get taxed for dispensing the money to the step mom. No raise and having to have more taken out in taxes means more hamburgers and hot dogs, my LCF! Stock up on good meat deals and buy an extra freezer if you need the room for the goods. I miss having my second freezer. It just up and died on me one winter. I miss that more than I miss the house.

The foreclosure is just in limbo. I still can go inside the house and walk around. They've done things outside as far as landscaping, if you want to call it that. And they changed one lock on the door a couple Falls ago to winterize the pipes, etc. But everything I left behind is right where I left it. Spooky in a way.

What I'm looking forward to is seeing how they revamp it and put it back on the market. I want to see if they refinish the hardwood floors and do things that I wished I had been able to do to it when it was mine. I want to see what it might have been like if I had done all that stuff. Seems it's going to take a long time for that to happen.

Anyway, enough about that. I'm off for three days now and it's time for me to slide into that mindset. Have a great night.
