I have a great appreciation for you and your fellow ER nurses! Spent half of today in the ER with my DH. He woke up yesterday with the room spinning around him, nausea and vomiting. I wanted him to go to the ER yesterday - but he would have no parts of it. But when he didn't feel any better today, he was ready to go! Treating him for Vertigo. On meds - feels better. He had a CAT Scan that came back fine, but they want him to have an MRI also. So....THANK YOU ER NURSES & DR's !

Busy day today. Guys here trying to finish 2nd bathroom tile job ( will be here in am to seal it )

Did laundry and swept. Folded clothes. Cooked lots of fresh veggies ~ sweet corn, sliced tomatoes, fried okra and made a homemade pizza for supper .

Earlier in the day I made a banana bread and cranberry/orange muffins.

So bored with them here all the time. !!

Shelby has a dance recital tomorrow night, think we'll leave early and run some errands

hope you all are doing well ! I haven't been on plan at all, but feeling good and enjoying the fresh veggies a lot !

You sure are busy! I know you will be glad to get YOUR house back!
Do you have a "finish" date? I sure it will be worth the mess and wait and the $$$.

Don't have one yet, not sure if we will let them do a few more projects now or take a break for a few weeks and then do more...... my sanity is slipping ~~~

Shelby's dance recital tonight, taking Tom's (dh's) Mom to lunch 1st and taking her some fresh tomatoes.
40 miles in one direction to his mom's ~ then one hour in the other direction for recital ~~~ I really hate that we live in the middle of nowhere.

Sorry I've been MIA !!

Shelby's recital went good..... 3 hrs long !! She was in about 2 minutes of it ! lol !

Workers are finally through with BOTH bathrooms ! Yea ! Trying to decide whether to spend the money having the popcorn ceiling (ugh) removed ...... gonna be expensive and messy. But I know we need to do it. Honestly, wish DH was handy .... haha !

Working this week. Started back yesterday - extra shift - so gonna be a looong week for me. 7 12's !!

DS2 is moving back here today.... to this town, to a rent house, very cute with fenced backyard. They are so glad to get out of that apt !!

DS1 is still staying here a few nights a week with new job and then going home to wife and Shelby on days off. Kinda hectic with everyone in and out. We had just gotten used to being "empty nesters" and not worrying about how "dressed" we were, and now they all came back ! Temporarily of course

Have a great day !

Home alone ! Yea !!

Busy week at work ~~ made appt to see my Dr tomorrow ( if ER is not nuts and I can run over there ) about my back. It has really been aggravated a lot recently and I wonder if he can recommend someone. I think it's lots of scar tissue from my surgeries, but if there is something they can do....... I would love to ski, ride a horse, white water raft.... so many things. Just want to see what/who he recommends

Hope you are all having a great week

Washing down woodwork in bathroom - so dusty - with orange glo cleaner. Smells so good ! Need to do the kitchen cabinets later......

Gonna have a bowl of taco soup and take a break .

Thanks for checking in Debby ! WTG on keeping lbs off .... that's amazing !

Headed to Houston this morning to pick Tom's (DH's) Mom at airport. She has been in Okla. for over a week visiting with family.
DH felt bad yesterday so we haven't started painting the house. I did paint the bathroom the other day. Hopefully we can paint tomorrow and I can get Shelby Sat and Sun.

We'll see. Running over in tomatoes !! Still have fresh okra too and cucumbers

Have a wonderful day everyone. It's super hot here of course. DS2 and GF took off to Frio river to tube the river for 4 days... Wish it was me.......

Not much sleep last night. Shelby went to sleep early ( wore her out ) I went to bed at 11 ~~ she tossed and turned and kicked ~~ up this morning. " Nana it's morning ! "

Oh boy, I'm tired. but I have really enjoyed having her. Such a blessing !

Taking her home after while, and if it's not too terribly hot, gonna do some shopping.
DS1 will be coming over tonight. He works days the next few days so he has to be there at 4:45 am ! he will get to play with Shelby this afternoon before he heads this way though.

Shelby wants breakfast ~ ttyl !

Hoodia definitely helps to control cravings
I do some work with unique hoodia, so anyone interested in trying a real hoodia at a discounted price should give it a try: www.wheretogethoodia.com

Ice cream... sugar is so habit-forming... I know if I have a bite of it one night, I will want a bite the next night... used to happen to me all the time while serving it. Takes 2-3 days to get rid of sugar cravings (I think). Last couple times I had to get off sugar I used Hoodia for those 2-3 days to break it, works good for me. Its hard to find though, I think the FDA has disapproved of it. Hard on the liver for long-term use in the obese.

I totally agree with you about Texas having the best Mexican food in the states. I do prefer the real thing in Mexico (Senora mostly), but we had some excellent meals in Texas last time we were down there to get our teeth fixed in Mexico... stayed in Eagle Pass, Texas. Crossed over into Piedras Negras, Mexico daily to get our teeth fixed... it was awesome!

Thanks for the info virtuousgirl ~ interesting.

Took Shelby home and then did some shopping by myself ! DH and I are together ALL the time now with our new schedule and it was kind of nice to go where I wanted and stay as long as I wanted.

DIL found the CD with Shelby's most recent pics. I went to Walgreens and made copies of my fav's and then I bought lots of new picture frames !

Just made wings and jalapeno poppers for supper. yummy It was so good !

Tomorrow I will do my marathon cooking for the week. And all the laundry . DH cleaned up some and vacuumed etc.....while I was gone.

Hope you all had a wonderful Sunday !

Shelby is so adorable! I bet you really enjoyed her cuddles! Chia seeds are awesome and weird at the same time! So many recipes out there for them.

Glad you got some alone time shopping! It's good to take some time for yourself!

Just posted in a thread about grandmothers..... thought y'all might enjoy !
Both of my grandmothers just passed away last year. I was 87 and the other was 96 !!

I grew up 4 hours from them both ( they lived in the same town ) and for the majority of my childhood we went to Waco every other weekend like clockwork. We stayed Fri night with one and Sat night with the other. And the next time we switched the nights !

Mom's Mom was extremely fun. Didn't work outside the house, but her large house was very warm, welcoming, and you could eat off her floors. She chased us, played outside with us, cooked ALL of our favorite foods....... every time we came. She hugged and kissed us all ( my brother and our 2 cousins ) all the time. We made forts by taking the mattresses off the beds and putting chairs on them and draping sheets over the chairs. Her immaculate house was destroyed in 30 min usually ! My Grandfather died of Emphysema ( she took care of him at home ) So she was widowed at around 55. She had a HUGE table that sat 8-10 people and she covered it with all homemade food - each person's favorites were there ------usually 3 meats, 7-8 veggies and several different desserts. She ALWAYS had celery with pimento cheese, pepper rings, olives, etc.... sitting out in small dishes. All food was in bowls and platters on table. NO DISHWASHER !! Guess what ? We ate breakfast and did dishes. An hour or so later we started lunch and did dishes. Rinse -- repeat ..........haha ! Great memories.

Dad's Mom - Called Granny - worked a full time job . Granddad was disabled and sat in recliner by door and fished occas. She never had much money - cooked very small amts of food and we all knew to only get a little bit. That's how my Dad grew up. She was more serious. Very gentle and quiet - never said a cross word about anyone. Hot kitchen. No playing and running in the house. Granddad would get his meal on a tray that she brought him in the living room in his chair. Then, when he was done, she would go get it from him. I didn't know until I was an adult that he had cheated on her and never realized they slept in separate rooms. She moved to Arizona after he passed and she LOVED it . My aunt was there and she blossomed and we became so close...... Flew out there from Texas 1-2 times every year to visit and play cards and take her out to eat. Loved her so much. Knowing how hard a life she had and that she was so sweet and loving made me love her even more........ Amazing woman <3

sorry for rambling........ 2 of my favorite subjects !

kind of bummed out.. The person that wants to teach us scuba lessons sent me a message . Over $600 -- I know we can't afford it right now with all the home reno's --insurance due etc....

I'm embarrassed - I texted him and told him sorry we really can't right now. I know he spent time getting everything together cause I told him last week we would still take class. So embarrassed. :/ Ugh...... we both work full time and it seems every time we get ahead financially something else comes up.

Boooo.......

Ugh. Terrible shift today !! Headache all day , despite taking migraine med twice
Super busy and then had to stay over 40 minutes after my 12 hrs were up.
I'm beat. Took my hot shower, drinking something cold ( was burning up all day ) and fixing to hit the bed and pray I can fall asleep quickly.

Hope you all had a better day than I did. New dr tomorrow ....... oh goody ;/

Stayed on plan though........ too tired to eat much.

Laura, so sorry you had a rough shift -- that is the worst, especially with a migraine in the heat. Good for you for staying on plan too. Can you relax over the July 4th holiday? Don't be embarrassed about the scuba lessons -- that stuff happens all the time. Plus you made a financially prudent decision by showing some restraint. Maybe you can take the lessons after the home repairs are done.

Loved your memory about your grandmothers -- they sound like terrific ladies who were great role models to you. Women have always been strong but especially the women of previous generations who did not have the advantages that we have today.

Hope you have a really good day today -- you are due for one!
