Melanie on a Mission!
I'm finally going to get around to starting a journal... I've been wanting to for a while, but now it's gonna happen.
Some history on me:
I've struggled with my weight most of my life. In highschool I used to watch what I ate and jog 4-5 days a week. During that time I was able to maintain myself at about 150-160. I always wanted to be 140, but never could achieve it. Now I don't think that was a realistic goal for my height and body frame.
I got married at 18 and have 2 boys now, Aaron (7) and Alex (4). Most of my 20's after having Aaron I have weighed over 200 lbs... Back in 2009 when Alex was turning 1 I did Atkins and managed to get myself down to 170. I then fell off the wagon and slowly gained it back and got myself up to 225. That's my highest weight not being pregnant. There was only one other time back in say '06 that I got myself down to 176 for about a day, lol!
January 2012 I had had enough! I was prob about 225 lbs and miserable! I started of trying a paleo kind of diet, which I lost a few lbs at, but stalled out on. I do believe that's a wonderful way to eat, especially if you're maintaining your weight. Since then I've done some low carb here and there, counted calories here and there, tried the low fat thing (NEVER AGAIN), etc...
At some point I joined lowcarbfriends and just lurked, disappeared, then came back with a vengeance! I got a new scale somewhere in there and believe I was prob about 215 or so. I've been trying pretty hardcore since mid Sep '12 and am now 193.8 on the last day of 2012!
So I didn't acheive everything I thought I would in 2012, but I'm definantly in a better place starting 2013 than I was a year ago! :cool:
Here are my daily weights since September 10, 2012. I started out originally doing just low carb.... Also this starts with my old broken scale that weighs too heavy...
9/15 --->219, I did have a couple carby things yesterday... back on track today!
9/18 --->219...oh TOM just start already....
9/20 --->217.4...could I be just a little more up and down?!
9/23 --->215...glad I held that #!
9/24 --->215.6... was at a birthday party last night and ate some gorditas that were made from corn flour. I didn't eat much though and no cake or anything...
9/25 --->217.6... time to see saw back up!
9/28 --->215.8.... not looking like I'm going to make goal...
10/6....207.4..... This is when I switched to the new scale!

11/5~UD~202 New low!
11/9~UD~201 New low!
11/10~DD~203, this DD turned into more of a MD, since I was sooo hungry and couldn't stop nibbling throughout the day...
11/14~DD~203.4, instead of this 201 to 203 bounce, can it be 200 to 202 at least...? I'm ready for some different #'s!
11/17~UD~204.6, turned into non lc MD late.... tom due to show up anytime..

11/21~DD~201.8, never weighed this low after an UD, maybe I'm in for a new low tomorrow! Fringers crossed!

12/11~DD~198.4, worked 10 hrs yesterday, than had to rush to a 2 hr meeting, didn't get to eat dinner till 9pm!
12/14~UD~196.6, feel like pre-tom bloat is hitting me...
12/15~DD~199, last night was a very naughty non low carb up day...
12/16~MD~196.8, doing MD today since I need to change rotations so Wednesday can be an UD... TOM due any day...

12/18~MD~200.4, supposed to be DD, but turned into high carb MD....
12/19~UD~201.8, very high carb UD, boo!
12/20~DD~201.2, back on the wagon, serious low carb DD!
12/21~UD~197.8, nice down day yesterday, getting all this carby crap out of my system!
12/24~DD~197.2, trying not to get my hopes up for a great weigh in tomorrow!
12/25~UD~195.2, 2nd lowest weight to date...
12/26~DD~196.8, that's amazing since I PIGGED OUT for xmas dinner and had carbs plus I nice big slice of pecan pie! Wow, that tasted sweet!
12/27~UD~194.8....New Low by a tiny bit, lol!
12/28~DD~196, new after up day low, wonder what tomorrow will bring?
12/30~DD~195.8, new after up day low again and that was after eating chinese buffet yesterday...
12/31~UD~193.8... New Low again barely!
I also wanted to put my measurements in here... Note: waist is at thinnest part on torso and stomach is the largest part around belly... Everything is in inches. Also I do my measurements in the morning on the weekend after Tom starts...

To be THIN or heck maybe even skinny by some!
To be comfortable in shorts.
To wear a bathing suit and actually enjoy going swimming with my fam.
To be able to rock some skinny jeans.
To wanna wear lingerie.
To look good naked. :sick:
To be fit.
To be able to do 10 pushups.
To be able to do a 5k in under 35 min.
To wear sundresses! :)
To be a trophy wife in looks and heart.
To prove to myself I can do it.
To prove to everyone else I can do it.
To show my fam that the way I eat really is healthy and works!
To feel good in my own skin.
To be healthy.
To weigh less than my hubby! :aprayer:
To enjoy life more!

Well today is the start of a local weightloss challenge. It's called Lighten Up 4 Life and this will be my 3rd time competing in it. It's teams of 4 people who try to lose the greatest % of weight over 16 weeks. The group I was in won the last one that ended on Dec 19th. As a 1st place prize we each won a kindle fire and a 3 month family membership to a local fitness center! :jumpjoy: Tomorrow we go in to collect our prizes. I lost 20 lbs in that challenge which was 9.3% of my own weight. I'm shooting for higher this time around! That means I need to get down to at least 175 by April 19, at the rate I'm going it'll be a long shot, but I'm gonna give it my all! Anyways, it's a cool program, all online, so theres no having to go in and weigh in in front of people...

I like your motivation! You sound like me from years ago (other than I got married at 21yo and started to have children at 28 yo). Weight was such a focus....just being healthy is much more sane! We moved here from San Diego, so I envy your ability to get outdoors yearround, I miss that. We got a couple inches of snow here yesterday and though it was pretty, at 20 degrees right now there's no way I can exercise outdoors!! You will do great!

Made it to the luncheon and got my kindle fire today! So much fun!!! Today was supposed to be a DD though and I was drawn into the shrimp and stuff at the luncheon, so turned out to be an UD... Strict DD tomorrow though, got a lot of salt to wash out of my system!
So my hubby has been out of the country since Dec 7th and he's on his way back, he'll be here tomorrow afternoon/evening... :jumpjoy: I'm soo excited! I went and got my haircuut today, which I was way overdue on. Not good when your bangs are so long their stucking out from behind your ears, lol! Anyways I cut ALOT off and it's now just slightly longer than chin length. Hubby prob won't be super excited about it, but thing is longer it gets, the less I wear it down anyway cuz it's irritating! Too bad hair didn't weigh more so the scales could be nice to me after my 2 UD's.... :D

I need a haircut..my hair is long and it's been ages since I've had a good cut. I am actually enjoying the length so may just trim it a bit and get some long layers back.. Hmmmmm :confused: I'm sure your DH will love your hair and actually probably not even care at this point! :D
If I was guaranteed to lose another 20lbs shaving my head I'd probably consider it heavily! :laugh:

I'm feeling kinda frustrated these last couple days though... progress feels solo slow. like it takes a ridiculous amount of weight for me to drop a jean size! all this work and I've dropped like 1 and a half.... and I'm tired of these love handles!
I'm thinking about trying something... the fitness center I go to has a 12 week weightloss challenge thing. the next one starts Jan 14th. I know it's expensive, but they have a free preview Tue night. I'm thinking about going... what I do know is that you train with a personal trainer twice a week, I think they have you use a fit bit, talk to you about your diet, etc... I'm a little worried they might get huffy about the kinda diet I'm doing. And I will not go on a low fat, calorie counting kinda diet.... I don't know, something to think about...

First off I wanted to say thanks to Velvet, Danielle, Fit2010, MissG and Melanie for commenting on my journal! You all are such an encouragement!
Okay so I decided not to go to the Weightloss challenge preview, I figure if I want a fitbit I can buy one fore a whole lot cheaper than the challenge is.... BUT I'm going to go workout instead. Me and a couple other girls are going to try a Fitness Boot Camp class tomorrow, depending on how we like it we might try the Cardio Boot Camp on Thursday, so finally going to really start getting that exercise in! I'm kinda scared it's gonna stall my weightloss, though I know I'll prob lose inches, I REALLY like/need to see that number on the scale drop as well...
Hubby and I are supposed to go see The Hobbit tonight and I am excited!
So I'm here to confess, I was a very bad girl yesterday.... It was an up up and away day and a high carb day too. I don't even want to count all the banana muffins I ate! I'm determined to do better from now on. First off I'm gonna start writing down what I eat. Then on Monday I have a weight loss journal I'm going to start using, it looks pretty cool! The exercising is starting today! I WILL have a loss this month, at least my normal 4-5 lbs!

So far so good with my workouts this week! I did my Fitness Boot Camp on Tuesday, which almost killed me and I'm still sore from, but it was fun. Then on Thursday I did Cardio Boot Camp, which was about as tough as the first one, ouch! Tomorrow(Sat) is Zumba, which will complete my 3 days for the week. I've never done Zumba before, but I'm ready to make a complete fool of myself... :laugh:
My weigh ins on the other hand have not been so great. Besides a horrible Monday, I feel like I've done really well, so I'm REALLY hoping it's because of the exercise, being sore and that tom should start in about 3 days. Like seriously if I don't have a big whoosh in a week I'm gonna have a hissy fit! :mad: I'm sticking with it though and will not give up! Maybe on Monday when I start that journal I should just go ahead and start counting calories. I so don't want too, it's such a pain in the butt to me!And hopefully I'll see a change in measurements next weekend when I most likely will be taking them, that would be encouraging too!
Hang in there! TOM wreaks havoc with everything so just never mind the scale for a bit..trust me I've been living it this past week! ;) You're doing fantastic with that exercise, your body is thanking you and I bet those measurments will be awesome! :high5:

Zumba class is done, so accomplished my 3 workouts for this week. I actually have 4 scheduled for next week, so we'll see how that goes!
I counted calories today, so that's a biggie for me! I will not eat another bite today, so here's my stats..
carbs:22g, 4.5 from fiber and 7.6 from sugar. darn mole... :)
calories burned: 2867, that includes from working out
Yay for working out! Zumba sounds like a lot of fun. It should be really good for you and burn a ton of calories! To bad I do not have any Zumba classes near me.

Really good day today!!! I went and worked out did the Fitness bootcamp class again and I got my hubby to go with me!!!! I'm so proud of him, he's never been to a gym or anything. It took a lot of pushing, I told him that last week there were a few guys there and that it was a tough workout, not girly in any way. Turned out it ended up being about 50% men, so he didn't feel weird and he liked it, wants to go workout more! Of course he doesn't really need to lose weight, I'm sure his bmi is in the normal range. He's in pretty good shape from roofing and soccer, but he never actually just "works out". So maybe this will be something fun to do together! Of course it will prob make my goal to weigh less than him even harder.. Oh well...
So my weight this am was a new low, which is really weird cuz tom hasn't started yet and I'm usually bloated right now. Usually a few days after I start, I have a little woosh, so fingers crossed I'll still have that!

I'm slightly worried about that defecit on my cals, but it's because calorie count claims I'm burning 700 calories during that hr long class, plus I'm full and I don't want to eat more... This logging thing is a pain in the butt too, there's so many things I feel like I'm just guessing at, so at least this gives me room for error. :dunno: Not going to quit doing it though!
I had a great weigh in this am after an upday, with a late dinner... Only up .4 from yesterdays... Thinking I might get a new low tomorrow, we'll see! Plus tom just showed up about an hour ago, so that should help me drop in the next four days or so too! No workout scheduled today, need to get some homework done on my two online classes I have... :down:
