I got in 3 miles this morning and felt good; 5 miles to go before reaching Rockfish Gap! Vacation is coming up in July so I know I have to stay focused. Sometimes I become too confident and start eating way too much and regaining. Hopefully I'll be able to do another 5 miles this evening, I just want to make sure I meet my goal of 50 miles this week.

This is what my walks looked like for March; I had this posted on another site.

I'm now a mile away from Rockfish Gap, VA. I'm walking a beautiful path so I think I'm gonna bed down here for tonight. There's one or two buildings in site so I'm thinking it's safe.

I'll trod on forward tomorrow.

Wow, I made it to Rockfish Gap this morning It's a beautiful quiet trail, there appears to be a lake on my right. I have to assume this because I can't see through the trees. Or maybe I'm on a ridge and it appears to be a drop

Got home early this afternoon so I was able to put in 5 miles. I always feel energetic afterwards. I'm about 24 miles from Nelson County, VA so I have a long, lonely journey ahead of me.

April is around the corner and I need to start looking into some type of toning exercises. The problem is I know it's going to be difficult for me to do cardio and toning, so whatever I do it has to be something super easy, okay maybe not easy but simple. Hopefully I'll come up with something by Monday. Also, I have some studies that I have to get out of the way, so between studying, work, and exercising I'm going to have a full agenda. I definitely don't want to over exhaust myself... got to give it lots of thought.

Did 5 miles this morning. I'll probably give my legs a break this evening and get back at it again tomorrow. I have about 20 miles to go before arriving in Nelson County, VA. I'm walking a very secluded road, a little uncomfortable being by myself, but I'll keep my cell phone in my hand just in case....

Food intake yesterday
L - grouper fingers; coleslaw; mixed veggies; sweet potato
Snack - 2 miniature dark chocolates

Today, Good Friday it's traditional for Bahamians to eat fish & hot cross buns. I love hot cross buns and yes I was tempted but I decided to go with fish & grits instead. Yeah, we're still looking at carbs but I think grits are a little bit healthier plus I can't overeat on grits like I can on bread. My food intake was still carby, but I'm just happy I didn't give in to bread today.

Food intake today
L - fried fish, grits w/cheese, broccoli, plantain, diet coke

Although today is a holiday things went a little berserk - my electricity went off this morning for maybe an hour or two; then we had problems with the server at the office and because our IT person is off the island I had to report to work; and then when I went to dry my clothes my dryer died on me So of course the best remedy for a 'screwed up holiday" is walking . I got 11 miles today - 5 this morning; 6 this evening.

Oh, I almost forgot, one of my LC friends pointed me to callanetics when I mentioned I was looking for an exercise for toning. I did a bit of research and found something on youtube. I'm going to give it a try for perhaps 2 weeks if I see positive results I'll order the dvd. I did it for 30 minutes last night and another 30 minutes today. It's not easy, but everything is done at a slow pace which is to my liking. I'm hopeful

Magie, thanks for the invite to the walking forum. Because I'm doing the walk across America I have several walking buddies on another site where I post I'm just going to leave it at that for now. I post in my journal because I feel some years from now I might need to shake up my memory and my journal would be a good place to start.

Food intake yesterday

L - fish, brocolli; diet coke
D - hotdog (at movies); diet coke
Snack - nuts (at movies)

Food intake today
L - Okra soup
Snack - 3 chocolates (finally finished valentine chocolates)

Put in 6 miles walking today, but I fell short my weekly goal of 50 miles by 1 mile; hoping for better luck this week. I'm still doing callanetics, trying for 1 hr a day, today makes day 4. I did 30 min Thursday & Friday; 1 hour Saturday and today. I want to do it for a straight 7 days and then see if I can detect any changes. Let's because my body is so out of wack right now, any noticeable change will be considered a miracle.

238 miles walked for March!

After getting a good snooze in this afternoon, I decided to get my butt up and get some more miles in I did 5 miles this afternoon and I'm really feeling energized, with the exception of a tummy ache . I'm drinking some mint tea now to settle my tummy. Not sure what happened but I'm hoping it doesn't last all night.

I'm 10 miles from Lexington VA, and I'm hoping I can make it there tomorrow. We'll see. I appear to be walking pass a ranch - it's peaceful and quiet here.

I guess I'll just find a quiet spot and relax until tomorrow.

I met my mini goal today!

I am so elated today! I am now officially a size 12! I can't stop from dancing! I also weighed myself and I'm now down from 172.2 to 171.6. it's not much but it's not a gain Today I will be spending most of my time in my closet trying on my 'skinny' clothes!

Will post more later.

Today was a holiday so I tried to stay active with my walking. Me and BF went to McDonalds for ice cream, so what we decided to do was park the car at the beach and walk the 1 mile back & forth. Of course the walking helped me to enjoy my ice cream much better

L - Okra Soup; 2 chicken wings; ginger ale (had a small tummy ache)
Snack - McDonald's ice cream

I managed to get my 5 mile walk in this evening and 1 hr callanetics; because I want to work my chest I decided to throw in 25 wall pushups per day. Not sure how I'm gonna keep all this up, but we'll see.

I'm gonna be extremely busy for the next few days, so I'll be MIA until the weekend. I'll try to keep a log of everything I do, so when I post again I can log it.

Food intake today
L - Okra soup; 2 chicken wings
I'll probably eat some SF jello with whip cream later

LOL - believe me my okra soup is quite filling. It was loaded with ham, turkey, chicken wings & pork chops along with pumpkin & dumplings (I know dumplings are considered a no, no but I couldn't resist)

Other Exercises
Callanethics - I've been putting in 1 hour a day (with the exception of Sunday)
Wall Push ups - I decided to take on the challenge of doing 50 wall pushups a day for the month; I'm hoping that will help to build up my chest.

I have studies to complete plus I committed myself to doing some decorative painting for a client. So, I'm still going to be tied up for a while.

I did manage to get 50 miles walking in last week, I'm hoping to be able to do the same this week (will keep fingers crossed). I'm also enjoying the callanethics but I've been experiencing some back spasms, I'm sure that means I'm not doing something right. I gave it a break for Sunday and will attempt again today.

I still haven't decided whether or not I should weigh myself every 2 weeks or once a month I guess I'll know for sure by the weekend. I didn't take any measurements before starting callanethics but my clothes are fitting me much better so we'll see how it goes. I already placed an order for the 10 years n 10 hours dvd so we'll see what happens when I get it; right now I'm doing the South African Callanethics mini workouts.

That's it, I'll be back on Monday.

Hey missing you already. You are doing so great with all the walking and exercise and I know those clothes are but baggy rags on you. Keep up all your hard work, it is paying off. Happy Monday!

I'm down 2.2 lbs!

I had a great week! For one I surpassed my goal of 50 miles and walked 51 miles (well actually 1 mile was on the bike, I had therapy today and I had to do a mile on the stationary bike) plus I managed to wiggle off 2.2 lbs I'm now down to 169.4.

Initially I hadn't planned on weighing myself but once I received my 10 x 10 callanetics dvd I decided to take measurements and check the scale. I read that it's something you should do so once you get into the exercises because although the scale might go up I should see a difference in my measurements. To demonstrate on one of the other threads the question was asked "if callanetics slows down weight loss" The below picture was posted. As you can see all though the person became heavier, due to muscle toning, she was much slimmer. So, this is what I'm aiming for (fingers crossed)

I'm still on my virtual tour across America. Total miles walked for the month 90! I'm still trodding across Virginia and one of my partners someone posted I need to walk 750 +/- miles to get across Virginia. That's a little disheartening because I was thinking 500 miles, but I'm going to keep with it, I have lots of fat to shake off of me

This is where I got to this morning.

Isn't it lovely? I'm going to park my weary behind right here for the day, play in the grass and glaze at the stars. Tomorrow I will track on.

Other challenges
Wall push-ups - 50 per day (let's hope that helps with the sagging chest) however, I do skip weekends.

Callanetics - 1 hours per day (started with the 10 x 10 dvd on Wednesday)

FOOD INTAKE
Sunday – Thursday
Lunch - Steak; stir fried cabbage; sweet potato; green beans; watermelon, peaches

Friday -
Lunch - fried grouper, coleslaw, broccoli_cauliflower_carrots, fried plantain
Saturday -
Lunch - fried grouper, lettuce w/tomatoes, diet coke, ice cream (bad choice, I know)

I ate peaches during lunch and watermelon in the evenings while studying. I know it's not the best thing to eat while LCing, but it's better than snacking on chips, etc. Besides, it's sooooo hot right now and watermelon really, really helps to keep me cooled down. I'm sorry but I have got to have my watermelon The peaches are only 5 carbs so I'm content with that.

My studies are coming along okay, I'm hoping to have everything completed before June or the first week in June. Let's hope I stay on track - no studying on the weekend

HI sldeal
I came to visit as you did to me.
Yes I know the excuses when I eat something what I did not want. But do not cry, I am wiping your face and today is a new day. I do not know a magic it is a hard work but you are worthy.
Btw, I like green tea and it is said that it helps to lower the temperature
of body.

I'm down .6 lbs

First - I'm down .6 lbs; when I weighed in this morning I was 168.8. I'm getting closer and closer to my goal of 150, but I'm also optimistic. With the implementation of Callanetics, I know there's going to be some gain, so I won't be weighing myself again until end of the month.

More good news - Callanetics must be working because I lost a few inches after 10 hours of Callanetics. I lost 1/2" in my upper hip, lower hip and right thigh. I lost 1" in my waist and chest. Some might think 1/2" isn't much, but it's a big difference when you're wearing shorts that use to be snug but are now loose I'll give Callanetics another 10 hours and then take my measurements again.

My walking is coming along I'm short 1 mile of reaching my goal of 50 for the week. I'm hoping I can get that 1 mile in before retiring for tonight, if not, I'll settle for 49 miles. Did I mention I've walked 400+ miles since starting February 23rd???? I'm now in New River, VA which appears to be a residential area.

Other exercise challenges:
50 wall push-ups a day (except weekends), hmm not sure if I completed 50 on Friday - I remember doing 25, just don't remember finishing ther other half.
1 hr callanetics daily

FOOD INTAKE
Sunday - chef salad, TI dressing, watermelon
Monday - Wednesday - chef salad, TI dressing fried or b/bq KFC chicken; watermelon
Thursday - fried grouper;fried plaintain; lettuce w/tomatoes; TI dressing
Friday - fried grouper; broccoli w/cauliflower, coleslaw

I couldn't figure out why my salad kept tasting a bit salty and then it dawned on me I used the sliced ham & turkey for my salad, lot of sodium, which means I definitely can't have that every week.
