Woke up with a headache this morning . Drunk some black coffee (which I detest) and it surmised, thank God for caffeine!

Most of our office decided to do some type of diet or change their WOE for the year. We're going to follow each others progress, cheer them on and police their food intake. This is going to be great motivation, can hardly wait when we start on Monday.

Don't know why, but today I'm unusually hungry. I'm not experiencing hungry pains, or anything like that, I just want something to eat. So after thinking about this, and looking at what I've been eating, I think it's because my food intake has been low.

In the evening when I had 3 chicken wings, it just dawned on me that wings don't have very much meat. So, although it looked like I was consuming a lot of food, I really wasn't. Note to self: stick with meaty part of chicken if I expect to stay full. Especially if I'm not eating carbs!

I hope I don't overeat today

Other than my headache experienced this morning, not a bad day. Still hungry but managed to wait until window to eat.

L - cornbeef & cabbage
D - double whopper (bunless, no ketchup), w/cheese
S - 1/2 chocolate minute muffin
Liquids - ice tea, crystal lite lemonade, black coffee, water

For some reason I couldn't get very much water down, don't know why. I managed 16 oz for today and I'm now trying to get another 20oz down.

After eating the chocolate minute muffin got kind of light headed, got to watch that and see if it continues. I do remember reading on FB where someone experienced heart palpitations during Fast5 after eating chocolate. I have another 1/2 in the office for tomorrow, if the same thing happens I know I can't eat anything with coco when breaking my fast.

Although I didn't have any hunger pains today, I did stay hungry most of the day. I'm really thinking it might be the chicken wings, but I'm also going to experiment with the cabbage it might be triggering my appetite. Now that I'm thinking about it, around 4pm today I started getting hungry again. Maybe it is the cabbage??? I just know last week, I ate practically all beef and I stayed stuffed. I had the whooper patties for dinner tonight I'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Keeping this food log is important because I need to know what I should and shouldn't eat if I want to eliminate stages of hunger...

Had another hungry day!

It was another hungry day for me today. This is unusual because last week I experienced hardly any hunger at all. I was dwelling on my food last week and I think it's because my steak had fat on it that I was eating. But still I'm kind of baffled, because my chicken wings were fried in fat... yesterday and today I had corn beef and still I was hungry, so I'm going to assume it's because it was can corn beef that I used and I know Atkins endorsed "whole food" not canned/processed meat, another lesson learned.

- corn beef doesn't keep me full
- chicken wings don't keep me full
- need fat, fat, fat

I also know from previous LC diets

- fried eggs will increase my appetite
- scrambled eggs keep me satisfied
- omelettes are very filling
- egg/sausage muffins are filling plus decreases my appetite
- bean soup drives me crazy for sweets
- okra soup is filling
- when I eat slim jims I'm almost guaranteed to drink more water

Although I managed to keep my window I was hungry practically all day today. even after eating lunch I did more snacking than usual, although, the snacks are permissible, I don't want to get into "binge" snacking.

I bought a Rotisserie Chicken today and for dinner I did a mock "KFC Double Down" I was surprise at how good it actually tasted plus it was filling. Plan to have again for lunch tomorrow!

L - cabbage, corn beef
D - sliced Rotisserie Chicken (1/3) topped with 4 bacon; pepper jack cheese & sliced cheese
S - 1/2 chocolate minute muffin; slim jim; nuts
Liquids - hot herbal tea; essence of peppermint tea; crystal lite lemonade; water

I'm stuffed right now, lets pray it last until tomorrow

Held up pretty well today, although I was a bit hungry for a while. Dranked some black coffee with splenda and that cured the hungries.

Scared to step on the scale this weekend Maybe I will, maybe I won't

Although I opened my window at 2:30 I'll still close it at 7pm unless I reach home late. I don't want to have to stretch my window unless I absolutely have to. I'm really beginning to enjoy Fast5/LC and I definitely want to stick with it for life, it's just a matter of staying focused. Sometimes I just want to stick something in my mouth out of habit. Let's hope that doesn't happen tomorrow. The weekends are the real test...

I'm beginning to feel some bag-gi-ness in my clothes, so I'm sure that's a sure sign that I'm losing some inches. Gotta keep my fingers crossed. Oh, how I wish this was my 4th or 6th month, I'm sure there would be a noticeable difference in my clothes.

How I hate that I got myself in such terrible shape.

Broke my fast around 2:30 this afternoon.

L - slices of rotisserie chicken topped with bacon & pepper jack & american cheese; chocolate minute muffin
D - corn beef & cabbage
Liquids - water, ice tea, crystal lite lemonade

My window closed at 7pm and it's now 9pm and I'm feeling stuffed. So, I guess I needed more protein in my diet. It's good feeling feeling stuffed, let's hope the hungries don't settle in tomorrow.

Whoopie! Today is 24 days of LC & 15 days Fast5/LC. I wonder if its going to get any easier? Probably not.

I might have a busy day today, BF coming by to help get some work done in house, I'm hoping he doesn't come by before 12noon. He usually like to go out to grab a bite to eat and I don't want to move my window. Also, when he's here I get the nibbles, even when not hungry, creature of habit I guess. So I gotta make sure I have some crystal lite or ice tea w/splenda at hand.

It's Saturday and I'm up at 5am, sounds like a long day....

I got to figure out what to cook for tomorrow (Sunday) so I can grab stuff at the grocery store. Sunday's are the only days I really cook with hopes of the food lasting for at least 2 - 3 days. Right now I'm battling between chicken salad or okra soup. I don't have all of the ingredients for chicken salad which means I got to spend more $$$ at grocery store. I have most of the ingredients for okra soup but I have to use flour to thicken up the soup a bit since I won't be using dumplings . Should I play with the carbs?

Okay, I just checked on line, a tbs of flour has 6 carbs. I'll probably need to use 2 tbs of flour that's 14 carbs. I generally make a large pot of soup (about 15 cups), that works out to be about 1 carb per cup, although my serving of soup is about 2 cups. I'm not a mathematician but I'm thinking with other LC ingredients 7-10 carbs per serving max.

Ingredients for soup are okra (of course), tons of ham & chicken, tomato paste, green beans, onions, cabbage, pumpkin & 2 tbs flour as thickener. No potatoes, no plantain, no carrots and definitely no dumplings.

I guess that rules out the chicken salad. Maybe next week.

confession I'm so afraid of being tempted to eat before my window I decided to pop a appetite suppressant I still have like a whole bottle sitting in my cabinet. Probably not the wisest thing, but there are days I have no confidence in myself, and I'm determined not to mess up.

Ummm, I've been focusing so much on tomorrow's dinner, I haven't a clue as to what to eat today. Maybe BF and I can go for a late lunch, I'm sure I won't be hungry before 2pm.

Today I opened my window @ 3:20 (a 20 hour fast from yesterday @ 7pm). Although I was up around 4:00 this morning, after browsing the internet I decided to hit my bed again. I dozed for a while and got back up around 10:30.

My BF got to the house around 11:00 and from there it was work, work, work. I made several attempts to eat at 2:00 (my window), but I was happy to see I was able to do 20 hours vs 19 hours. Of course, I can't forget the appetite suppressants did help.

L - KFC Double Down
D - 2 scrambled eggs w/chopped ham topped with sandwich cheese
Drinks - water, herbal tea, coke zero

My window closed at 7:30. I could have closed it after the 1 meal because I really wasn't that hungry, but I kept thinking I might get hungry earlier tomorrow At some point I think I would like to try just 1 meal, but I'm such a chicken....

One thing that I'm now noticing is that my body is now beginning to feel empty, or maybe the right word is rested. I wonder if it will be wrong to say my body feels as if it is at peace with itself???

I was reading on another lowcarb forum that IF/LC doesn't always give the best results in weight loss but inches appear to melt off of you. I can definitely go with that. I keep eyeing my size 12 suits just hanging in my closet. Let's pray I meet my goal by April.

Opened my window at 1pm and closed it at 4:30. i was surprise i couldn't eat so much. there was a part of me that wanted to keep eating, and the other part that said whoa you're stuffed you can't hold any more.

L- okra soup
S- brazil nuts, homemade lc icecream
Drinks - coke zero, crystal lite lemonade, water (not much)

My okra soup turned out much better than I had hoped plus I decided not to use flour as a thickener instead I added additional pumpkin and cooked it down. Soup contained ham, chicken, pumpkin, tomato paste, onions, celery green beans & 1/4c corn. Not sure about carbs maybe maybe 10, and about 20 servings (yep it was a big pot) put some in freezer for later.

Hi SL - geat going! hope you don't mind I popped in once I realised it was your journal.

that okra soup sounds great. Can you post the recipe as I don't think I saw it in your journal- can you put in your flour sub as I don't do flour. Tx.

Lola the recipe for okra is below, keep in mind I hate cooking, so I'm always looking for short cuts, but still my soup usually turns out pretty good Also I don't measure anything I just play it by ear, or should that be sight???

Okra Soup

2-3 cups of frozen okra (thawed)
olive oil
tomato paste (small can)
large onion (chopped)
1 stalk celery (chopped)
can green beans, corn (your preference on veggies)
pumpkin (chopped in large chunks)
ham, chicken (whatever meat preferred - approx 4 lbs)
bay leaves
salt & goat pepper to taste

Add some olive oil to pot and then add okra and let cook, occasionally stirring. What you want to to do is dry out the okra so your soup won't be slimy, but if you like slimy okra, don't worry about cooking too much. I usually cook on medium heat for about 20-25 minutes.

Once the okra is cooked to your liking, add tomato paste and chopped onions & celery. Continue to cook, until onions and celery are sauteed, stirring occasionally to prevent scorching.

Add meat to tomato paste mixture and stir. Cover and let cook on low flame for approx 20-30 minutes. This usually helps to release juices from your meat and keeps you from adding too much water to your soup.

Uncover and add desired amount of water. Add bay leaves and chopped pumpkin. Cover and let come to boil. Once soup comes to a boil, remove lid and let soup continue cooking on medium heat. If you like thick soup (stew consistency) let pumpkin cook completely down, this generally takes a few hours of cooking with the cover off, as the water evaporates the soup will thicken. Add salt & goat pepper to taste. (Note: if you're not familiar with goat pepper it's a very hot pepper similar to chili pepper or jalapeno pepper )

I'm not too sure how much pumpkin I use, maybe 1-2lbs, also because I'm LC I add lots & lots of meat, which makes the soup very filling.

This is the best example I can give, I'm not keen on cooking, so I try to keep everything simple. If you give it a shot I'm sure you'll enjoy it. When I go home to visit I always make it for sister & her children, but of course they prefer it with dumplings.

Had a busy day yesterday so I didn't get a chance to post my food intake.

L - Okra soup, 1/2 chocolate mini muffin
D - scramble eggs w/cheese & chopped ham
Drinks - ice tea, herbal tea, crystal lite lemonade, water

I'm noticing I get full extremely fast now, which kills my appetite for snacks, I know that should be a good thing but it's sometimes frustrating, because although I'm full I still want to snack probably just a mind thing where I'm so accustom to having something in my mouth after eating. I believe what's happening is my body is making some serious changes, it's all new to me but if I want to see some serious losses (weight or inches) I'm going to have to adapt.

hi SL
Ooh - that soup sounds really delish. I thought the goat pepper was a typo but glad that I read your posts that follow. MMm- I love hot food so the pepper would be great.
the great thing about LC is that it reduces your appetite so you dont need to eat so much. I enjoy the process of eating and socialising while eating so I generally fall off the wagon when social events crop up. I guess we need to find an alternative to eating to socialise.
anyway you are doing so great.

Hope you get to make the soup. It's really very easy, I hope I didn't make it sound complicated.

You're right, my appetite has been reduced to almost half, but my mentality hasn't I still look at food wondering why I can't eat more, and then I sit there and debate with myself wondering if I can get a spoonful more down. I guess that means, for me, I have to learn to change my way of thinking about food, and I need to understand when I'm full, even if I didn't eat much, it's a good thing.

I have a friend who under went stomach reduction surgery (don't know correct name). She said the hardest thing for her was eating a small amount of food, being full, but still wanting to eat more. I never understood what she meant by that until recently.

I get full so easily now, no I'm actually stuffed, but I find myself grieving over food I can't eat. Weird feeling, but I have to learn to embrace it, if it's to be my WOL forever.

Yesterday and today I broke my fast at 2:30. I'm realizing I'm generally hungry in the mornings and then it tapers off. Then it might occur again and tapers off. Most of the time it's a mind thing, like I know I didn't have anything to eat so I should eat something, nothing I can't deal with. I opened my window with okra soup and a chocolate minute muffin and I'm stuffed, not full stuffed! It's now 5pm, I'm hoping I'll have an appetite by the time I get home, so I can eat before my window close. My biggest fear is that I won't be hungry when I get home and have my window close on me.

Good news, my colleagues are beginning to notice a difference in the way my clothes hang on me .

Note to self: Losing weight takes lots and lots of patience.

How do you make your chocolate muffin? I assume it's like the MM using flax meal but with maybe coco? It sounds really good and need to give it a go. Exciting that the colleagues notice your physical changes, always a good sign.

You're right, I generally use half coco & half flax meal (or sometimes a combination of coconut flour, flax meal, almond flour & coco). I find it helps to curve my craving for sweets, while filling me at the same time. I have to be careful though, sometimes I go overboard with minute muffins and then find myself craving carbs. So, rather than making them in a mug (and eating the whole muffin in one sitting), I use the silicone muffin pans; I manage to get 4 small cupcake size muffins. So far it's working for me. I'm realizing LC is a "learn as you go" process. One shoe can't fit everybody

Thanks for visiting.

Thanks Lola, now if I can keep it up. Sometimes when we notice these small changes we become overconfident, get off track, then right back where we started. I'm just hoping I can stay focus.

Food intake yesterday
L - Okra soup; chocolate MM; water
D - 2 scramble eggs w/cheese; 4 bacon; hot tea w/splenda
Other - black coffee w/splenda

Decided to change my mini goal and include it in my 'signature'. Originally my mini goal was to reach size 10 by December. But my BIL called to say he wants to give my DS a b'day bash in Nov. Well it was last year when everybody saw me and I was a 14W, border line 16, (still am). It would really shock my family seeing the "new" me. I haven't confided in my family that I'm dieting, I'm just keeping it to myself for now. I know having my mini goals as a part of my 'signature' will help to keep me on track!

Foods I can't eat because they make me hungry.

I had a glass of crystal lite lemonade this morning and my appetite was off the chain. All I could think about was food, even after I drank black coffee I was craving food. Decided I better copy this from my previous post and include crystal lite.

- can corn beef doesn't keep me full
- chicken wings don't keep me full
- I'm always hungry after eating fried eggs
- scrambled eggs keep me satisfied
- omelettes are very filling
- spinach omelettes filling and diminishes my appetite
- egg/sausage muffins are filling plus they kill my appetite
- bean soup drives me crazy for sweets
- okra soup is filling
- when I eat slim jims I'm almost guaranteed to drink more water
- crystal lite makes me hungry if I drink it in the mornings; it's okay at night, stay away from it in the mornings!
- a cup of hot tea w/hwc & splenda, dranked along with my dinner, keeps me full at night

Awful day today!

I forgot to take my vitamin c last night so I decided to gulp it down this morning (crystal lite w/vit c tablet), biggest mistake for fasting. Not too long after I was finished drinking I got hungry. I decided to drink some black coffee, it worked I wasn't hungry any longer, but all I could think about was food non stop! Every 30 min I found myself looking at the clock to see if it was time to eat, dang, 2pm took long to come today. I've been doing Fast 5/LC for about 20 days and today was the worse. I think what saved me was when I looked at my before pictures that I have on my desk, these pictures were taken when I use to be size 9/10. I kept telling myself that's what I want to look like again and that I couldn't give in. It was hard, but I did it! Instead of 2pm I opened my window at 2:15. There's always a lesson to learn in life, and I learned mine today.

L - rotisserie chicken, broccoli, chocolate MM
D - scrambled eggs w/cheese; 4 bacon, hot tea
Snack - nuts (about 7-10)
Drinks - 1/2 c black coffee; 1/2 c chicken broth; crystal lite lemonade; water (not enough)

Just came back from my doctor's visit and everything seems to be doing fine. I should be able to get back into my exercises soon, although he did state I should still take it easy with the arms. I decided I'm going to give it 2 weeks to be safe and then get back into some simple exercises (push-ups & crunches). I'll still stick with my faux treadmill for now buy I'm thinking by March I'll be able to get back into boxing.

I'm sitting here stuffed to the brim I had a great dinner and feel so satisfied I was hungry off & on today, but it was nothing unmanageable. Although I opened my window at 2pm today, I couldn't manage to eat all of my lunch, did lots of nibbling, but that was it. On my way home after work, I stopped at the restaurant and got some good ole fried Bahamian chicken and coleslaw. It was delicious The chicken had the forbidden ketchup on it along with hot sauce, but I have no regrets. Now it's going to be a wait and see thing. I'm hoping the ketchup doesn't set off my cravings

L - chicken rotisserie, brocolli, chocolate MM
D - fried chicken w/ketchup & hot sauce, coleslaw, ice tea
Snack - nuts (10)

Tomorrow is my BF birthday and I promised to treat for dinner. Don't know how that's going to turn out but I'm optimistic. So far, I haven't had a desire to cheat and I'm hoping it stays like that. I promised him a key lime pie, so I'm thinking I should make some mini LC cheesecakes for myself at the same time to stay on plan.

Bahamian chicken sounds good, what are the ingredients if I may ask? Key lime cheesecake sounds yummy as well, I hope you find a good recipe that is LC for you as well.

How are you arms doing, from your other posts it seemed as if they are healing good. Good to hear that you will be able to exercise again. Wow, you box? Boxing has got to be the best workout from what I hear and have seen.

Have a nice weekend!

Hi Maggie,

In December I had surgery on my back to remove a huge lipoma. To restrict lots of fluid from filling the cavity I had to restrict arm movement. My last dr. visit on Friday showed everything to be progressing fine. I'm pondering getting back into boxing in March. It's a lot of intense exercising and sweating, I'm just going to have to figure out how I'm going to manage boxing with IF. Right now my window for eating is 2 - 7. If I do boxing, after work, I probably won't get home until 7pm. So it means either moving my eating window or expanding it. I'll worry about that later.

Bahamian fried chicken is just naked chicken. But Bahamians season their chicken with lots of lime, etc. and no matter how I try I can never get mine to taste like theirs. I guess there's a secret that I don't know about. When my DS comes home for spring/winter break he feast on their chicken almost every day. Although I like KFC nothing beats good Bahamian fried chicken!

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
