And then, the bottom falls out

Woke up on Sunday not feeling well. I consciously decided to go crazy with a full on binge. Interesting.... I was talking to myself as I was walking thru the grocery store choosing my poison. Suffice it to say I did not talk myself out of it

So what have I learned?
1. The monster is alive and well just waiting for me to allow it entry
2. Feeling physically unwell is definitely a trigger. "Food is love and love makes everything better"
3. I can recover from a binge and do not have to blow the entire week because I lost my mind for one day.
4. If I keep my body healthy, my mind will follow
5. I am flawed but I am ok with that

Thankfully my crazy binge did not derail me permanently. Yesterday I thought to myself "this is the way I eat". It is part of who I am now. I don't ever really think about it. I cook my meals ahead if time and grab stuff on the go. My largest meal is usually around 4pm. My wt has remained steady for a couple of months now. Would 10 lbs more be better? I'm not certain. Sometimes I think I look like an old woman- my body not my face- at 53 saggy skin is not a good look but it the look I've got

Mother's Day 2014

Saturday: celebrated with my siblings and mom. My youngest daughter surprised me at the restsurant. It was going to be a Mother's Day weekend without any of my children...what a great gift!!
I had a crab cake and sweet potatoe fries. Happy!

Sunday: celebrating with my in laws today. We were asked to brng dessert. I made a fruit salad with blueberries, blackberries and strawberries and I bought a cheesecake. I'm not sure what is on the main menu.

Approaching Memorial Day weekend. I'm heading to the jersey shore with my husband and some friends. I have stocked up on foods I can eat and enjoy. Looking forward to some R&R.

I'm noticing my belly seems less flat and maybe fat accumulating there?? Odd because my weight has been pretty steady. I feel like a shape-shifter. My diet hasn't really changed so I'm unsure what the issue is it seems more like fat than bloat...

Menopause?

My stomach is my most prone to fat area. The only thing that has ever gotten rid of most of the fat was running intervals and very low carb, neither of which I could sustain!

Yes, def menopause but that's been for years now. My husband says it doesn't look different to him but something has definitely changed. Dear God if it isn't sagging it's bulging

Celebrated my 53rd birthday on Monday. My wt remains fairly steady although I think I am over eating yogurt. Is that even possible??
I am officially finished teaching for the year. Our state exam was yesterday and we graded today. Tomorrow will tell the tale...
We are having a big birthday bash for my mom this Saturday 90 yrs old! Mostly italian food on the menu but there will be some good choices for me as well.

Getting ready to head south for the summer. Really looking forward to that

About that 90th birthday bash

Ugh...
Bread, apple pie, ice cream and, and, and...
Literally up 5 lbs the next day and my fingers were do swollen I could barely clasp my hands together

Totally not worth it and my belly hasn't felt right for 3 days now...
You would think I would have learned this lesson a long time ago
The good news is I had no problem getting back on track. My body is craving good food- and continuing to rebel after the garbage fest on Saturday.

Winding down the weekend with help from family and friend. It has been a whirlwind since I arrived here in florida. I am officially up 5 lbs since leaving NY. Will change my stats to reflect that. Back to serious business as of today.

Ugh...

Friends and family arrived and I fell off the cliff. I ate pasta, bread, pie... Really? Ridiculous I don't know what makes me think I can eat like that! A treat once in awhile, sure that's normal but this was not normal eating. The monster lives just below the surface waiting for me to let my guard down. I refuse to go back there. I will not allow it. Got my act together yesterday and remain vigilant. Funny how I feel weakened emotionally now... I have the "I'm not good enough" tape playing in my head. Mind and body both suffer when the monster comes to visit

Essentially back on track...or at least making better choices. At this point I am up 5 lbs from the end of the school year.
I've learned a few things being on the island all summer. First and foremost I need a job if I'm going to spend 3-4 months here thankfully my sister is across the bridge so I can spend some time with her each day.
Yoga on the beach is beautiful but not challenging enough. Classes in naples are great but to do that daily costs a lot of $$ in gas! I will scale that back next year.
For the most part when I'm here alone I eat on plan. Company makes for a party
My husband will be here at the end of the week. We leave on the 31st...

Hey Lisa. Hot enough for you? We took unexpected trip in July. Too hot to do anything. Went to beach I day water too hot. Lol. Couldn't wait to get back up north. Now that my house is fully furnished even going to consignment shops is not that fun anymore although I always stop in bargain basket and habitat home store at least 2x week. Mostly sat by pool or inside with ac on watching netflix.
Enjoy the rest of your trip. We will get together one of these times.

Yes, definitely hot!! I know what you mean about consignments not being as much fun. I'm in the same boat. I don't really NEED anything. I'll be back after Christmas and I'm spending presidents week in Naples since my place will be rented. One of these day we will make lunch happen
