Thanks for asking... Thanksgiving or "slave for the day" went fine. Lots of cooking, but it all turned out good. I was lucky in that we slept in till 8 am this morning, I walked & ran Molly in the morning also. Good thing, no time for exercise the rest of the day. Although standing in the kitchen, running up & down the stairs for ingredients in the storage & freezer I'm sure made up for the shorter walk.
DIL & kiddo's came around 2:30. The kiddo's played outside with Grampa burning a brush pile, quadding, swinging on the rope-swing. Molly did real well, didn't jump on them or herd them, so yeah! DIL helped me with some prep & we talked diet, exercise, & computers. And of course the clean-up. While Grampa took everybody outside & tried to create a hot-air balloon out of a grocery bag
Our colds didn't hinder us, for which I'm thankful. And they went home at 8 pm. School tomorrow. that's it.
Eating went well today. Started out with an omelet. Had my usual veggie-beef w/olive-oil-mayo. Nuts for snack. Turkey, Brussels, small yam, a bit of green salad. Still just 1263 calories. Mainly because I stuck to the almond milk for my coffee. Pretty cool.
Its going to be hard to get up early tomorrow! We've slept in 3 mornings in a row!

"Slave for a day." That is more like it. Sounds like everyone had a great time, though. I love bon fires. We used to have them at our home when we were kids, much to the dismay of the neighbors. We lived in a residential neighborhood but we had double the lot size that the other people had. I wonder how that happened. Our house was the dumpiest but the property was the largest.

Way to keep on your plan on a holiday! I hope your colds end soon.

one of the reasons I love the holidays I don't mind being slave for a day. I love catering to my family. We do bonfires too The only bad part about the holidays for me is the cleanup afterwards lol. I don't let anyone help because I want them to enjoy themselves, and then I kick myself in the pants for it later!

I know, shouldn't say that... but since I'm not into the "feasting" anymore, its just obligation that makes me keep up the traditions. Although they have 'shrunk' considerably! DH is fine with me not making 'sweets'
I don't tell them its slave day
I'm glad you enjoy cooking still Lisa. I used to... Food & goodies just didn't love me back... so I don't love it any more! (that's my story & I'm sticking to it).
Beautiful day here today. almost 50 degrees!

We were almost 70! It was actually warmer than I would have liked. I hear ya about not wanting to make all that food when you eat so little of it. Do you send the lion's share of the leftovers home with family?

No, just "half"- turkey, gravy, potatoes, dressing, yams. Gotta have some leftovers so I don't have to cook! Besides, my dil throws food away... one thing I never do! (younger generation)...
We enjoyed artichokes & moose steak tonight.
We're both getting over the cold fast.
Exercise went really well. 30 minutes on the elliptical & 17 walking in the sun with my sleeves rolled up. Vitamin D baby!

Moose steak? Does that mean your hubby got lucky? We want all the details, if he did.

I'm glad your colds are evaporating.

Good morning,
Hi Lisa, actually, no. moose is very lean. When you eat regular beef you can really taste all the fat in it. Have you ever had any wild meat? Or buffalo? Its more similar to that.

Sleepy... gotta get moving. Have a good day!

Deer is almost the same taste as moose. If the hunter is skilled at cleaning, there will be no "gamey" taste. When my DH gets both deer & moose sometimes we can't tell what we're eating. Its open hunting season next week. So he'll be hunting all next week. Sure hope he gets one.

Work was fine, once I got moving. Then short trip to town... tired, so took a nap when I got home & woke up with that same "heavy-sleepy" feeling again. Finally got through my exercise & quadding Molly. Ended up fixing dinner after 6:30. Oh well... We enjoyed turkey left-overs.

How do they clean the game that makes it taste "not gamey"? I know nothing about hunting but I do love the idea of eating an animal that has lived a free and good life, eating nothing that wasn't natural for its diet. How can you beat that?

Sorry you're feeling tired today. May you wake refreshed and renewed in the morning.

Thanks Cheryl back at you!

"How do they clean the game that makes it taste "not gamey"?"
Its in the cleaning... right after the animal expires, gutting it, and removing the scent glands without letting said glands "touch" any part of the meat... kind of a no-brainer, but for some reason many hunters fail in that.

Sounds like a good way to do it. I wouldn't know a scent gland if I tripped over one.

morning Debby !

We eat deer sometimes too. I grew up eating it a lot, DH doesn't like it too much, but he loves to hunt !

Didn't know about the gland either. But I guess DH does.... ?

Beautiful here. Hope you have a great day !

Yeah! Nice we both had beautiful days!
I worked extra 'again' today. Seems with the long week-ends there's just not enough time to get everything done. But I 'think' i did! Had several trouble-shooting things to fix today, with eventual success. Gotta love that.

Wow, without the creamer, I sure got my carbs down today... Decided to go for turkey & turkey-skin for my afternoon snack (cleaned the meat off the carcass to freeze), so I didn't have fruit or GY today either. I sure felt full! Calories - 1211; Carbs 23; Fat 72; Protein 90

Oh, Molly broke her own speed record today... passed me going 40 km. (20mph) but I had to slow for a corner, so I'm not sure how fast she actually went. Think it was just over that. She's beautiful to watch running...

Ah... looking forward to my 3 day week-end.

Make that THREE of us who had beautiful days! I've been so tempted to go out and have a fire tonight in my fire pit but I've resisted the urge cause I don't want to be up all night again, but it's a full moon and in the 60's and absolutely dreamy.

I love poultry skin when it's cooked just right. Nothing better on a LC plan! WTG, Molly!

You have a long weekend ahead? What's the occasion? Delayed Thanksgiving Day day off? Whatever the reason, enjoy it.

Great Cheryl! So happy you're in the sun too!
Nah, I guess I mislead you... I'm still taking Fridays off... so every week-end is 3 days for me. Except last week-end was Thanksgiving, so it was FOUR day! So blessed.

Well, I went for higher calories today.
Here's what it ended up at: 1,374 cals 27 carbs 85 fat 102 protein

DH had today off today too. So we got to sleep in & it was a pretty lazy kind of day. Took Molly for one really long quad run, with both quads. She just keeps going & going! LOL.
Hope everyone is doing great!

Wow, Deb. That was a higher calorie day? I hope when I reach maintenance I can eat at least 1800 calories and maintain my losses. If not, I guess I'm going to have to be like Julie, killing it in the gym 5 or 6 days a week.

Molly must be so fun to exercise! I wish you could take a video and post it.

Sleep well.

Hehee... for my height, wt., age... I'm supposed to do 1,400 to maintain without exercise... but thyroid means I burn 200 less than that.
I've been maintaining between 1200-1400. Cutting back lately to get back to the 125 mark... more comfortable in the waist-line. But with ditching the creamer carbs I want to see if I can still drop lbs. on higher cals.
How tall are you Cheryl? I forget... I'm only 5'4"

We went to friend's for dinner & visit, got back late. It was a good time & dinner. (had a huge steak)
We're off early for a meeting before church & then kiddo's. Hunting season week this week too. Last chance for a moose this week.

I had low-carbs & 1300-ish cals yesterday. But I was really craving an apple & GY. Think that I'll go for that this morning for breakfast.

Hope everyone's doing great!
