Ladies, I am so sorry but I have been sick for over a week with a terrible cold and then a stomach flu. Argggh! It did help me lose a few pounds so I can't complain but lets just say I am eager to be back among the living (and not the living dead)! I am excited to catch up with you guys. Laura and Susan, you two seem to be making great progress!

Come on Gail, we have all been there, you can do it girl!!!!!! It is all in your head! I keep thinking about all the summer clothes I am not going to be porking into if I dont get this off!!!! I refuse to keep buying bigger stuff, and one thing I wore my tailored work pants on Fri and they were so loose I was like geez this works! And dont weigh everyday that is the biggest relief to me I know I am weighing Mondays it helps me over the weekend and doesnt make me ruin my day every morning if I dont like what I see! I am posting everything I eat but not counting anything, I figure I know if it is low carb or if I am kidding myself!

Guys, I am so sorry but I am finally back for real! I have been low carbing and exercising since last week and it is going well. I was embarrassed that I fell off the wagon -- but this time I am back on!

Thanks ladies! I truly am back at it. I have been walking for 6-8 miles per day and started working with free weights. My eating has been good -- trying to stay within 20-30 grams of carbs per day. It seems to be working so far. It feels good to be back.

I should tell you guys that I have fallen in love with Guy's low carb BBQ sauce that you can buy at Netrition. It is delicious and does not even taste low carb or low sugar. We love to grill during this time of year and Guy's makes everything taste that much better!

Susan, your avatar is so lovely -- and don't you look so SKINNY in your lovely garden too! Seriously, you look fabulous!

I am feeling very good these days ladies! Each weekday, I wake up early and walk 6 miles and then do a workout with free weights before I go to work. On the weekends, I do an 8-10 mile walk around the coast. This really jump starts my weight loss and makes me feel great. Now that we have nice weather here in Boston, it really lifts my spirits to walk around the ocean on a sunny day and even on a cloudy or misty rainy day!

Eating has been good so far -- trying to stay under 20-30 carbs. I still have my very bad habit of not eating much during the day. But honestly, the ketosis keeps me from getting hungry. I am usually hungry by dinner time though but I try not to eat too much.

Typical day has been looking like this:

Wake up at 5:30 AM and have a cup of hot water with lemon (supposed to be a good detox device to help jump start weight loss)
Go for long walk, do weight workout
Get to work at 9:00 AM and have coffee with a splash of cream and splenda
Drink sparkling water, still water, iced tea all day long. May have an occasional diet soda (I know, I'm a bad dog!)
Snack on a piece of Laughing Cow cheese (2 carbs) and celery stalk (0 carbs)
Get home by 6:30 and have a protein for dinner (either burgers, turkey burgers, grilled chicken, steak tips or grilled shrimp), green vegetable (either asparagus, broccoli, spinach) and a green salad tossed with olive oil and lemon juice. Drink sparking water with dinner.
As my one indulgence, I let myself have one glass of champagne or a cocktail (usually vodka and soda with a splash of sugar free cranberry juice) and a handful of cashews when I watch TV.

So far, so good. I am really feeling it this time and I hope I will STICK to it. My goal is to get off 40 to 50 pounds by my birthday in September!

Thanks Susan and Laura! For dinner tonight, we made low-carb ground pork enchiladas (with low carb tortillas of course). That was the only thing I ate today and the calories came in at 1,100. So that is it for my carbs and calories. Carbs came in at 19 for dinner and 22 total for the day. I will try to keep the carb count lower moving forward but, man, it can be tough to say under 20 carbs per day -- day in and day out. However, I must keep going and have faith that it works. Good Job! It is very hard to keep the carbs on the low end. It amazes me that those nasty carbs are everywhere! Tracking my food keeps me in control!

I had another great morning -- did a 6 mile walk around the coast followed by a weight workout. For dinner, we are having low carb pizzas using the Carlo LowCarb pizza crusts that you can buy at Netrition. They are pretty good and only like 11 carbs. I usually make a BBQ chicken pizza (like they have at California Pizza Kitchen) with low carb BBQ sauce, red onion and smoked gouda cheese.

Yum! Love BBQ Chicken Pizza! Love BBQ Chicken too! How many carbs in Guy's BBQ sauce. I found Weber's Original BBQ sauce at the store - it has 8 carbs for 2 tblsp and 35 calories. Not too bad.
