Awww, you guys are the best. I did have a good time. My hairdresser did a great job with my hair -- very full blowout with hot rollers, so it looked nice and voluminous. I went and got very good slip from Spanx (it was surprisingly comfortable) and it made the dress look better. I also reacquainted myself with my love for Chanel No. 5. Usually I wear lighter perfumes like Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue or Viktor & Rolf Flower Bomb, but I went old school with Chanel No. 5 and really liked it.

Now for the bad news. Tony threw his back out yesterday (Friday) and could not go to the party because he also had to get at work at 4:30 AM with a bad back so I went alone. I was pretty bummed but then I had a great time at the party. It freed me to socialize with everyone and I ended up having a blast. No joke. It really does prove the point that you have to suck it up and make the best of any bad situation -- no matter what.

Now for the really bad news. I went to the party on an empty stomach -- and I mean totally empty except for one coffee with splenda/half & half, water and diet ginger age. And oops, I had three cosmopolitans on that -- and did not eat. There was a buffet in the back of the room and I just ended up getting so into socializing that I did not eat. I got to the party at 7:30 and before you know it, it was 12:30 PM and time for me to go home. Three drinks on an empty stomach did not get me drunk but I woke up this morning feeling horrible -- dehydrated and tired.

Tony got home from work at around 2:00 PM and was tired and grumpy but at least his back is okay. We decided to have a little cheat day. I know it is wrong but we ordered our favorite sandwiches for this fabulous gourmet deli place and had those on low carb bread (he got Italian and I got grilled chicken) and split a small bag of Lay's potato chips. I know -- I'm a bad dog! But our food intake stopped there and we both vowed to hop back on low carb immediately tomorrow.

Sorry guys -- I know I should do better. But I gotta be honest with my beloved low carb peeps on this board when I screw up. Tomorrow will be a better day!

Okay, so you had 3 Cosmos (love cosmos!) in 5 hours and did not eat anything and you call yourself "bad"!? OMG, honey you were a LC Angel! I would certainly have had more cosmos and would have attacked the buffet table!

Shame about Tony's back and he couldn't join you. Gotta say though.. as much as we love our guys, it's really nice not to worry about whether they are having fun, etc.. It is freeing - you are right. Other than our casino fun days and vacations, I have so much more fun with my girlfriends.. But, we've been together almost 30 yrs, and I don't think you have..

Tomorrow is another day!! Hugs!

I love you guys! I really did have a great time socializing. Tony and I socialize with other couples and friends occasionally -- like once a month -- but we really enjoy each others company so much. Consequently, we stay home a lot together, make low carb feasts and watch movies -- all of which I love. But every now and then, it is really great to get all dressed up and go to a fun party. Plus, I really like my co-workers so it made the party that much more fun.

We are back to the low carb grind today! We will have grilled chicken and green salad today so undue the damage done. It is unseasonably warm here today -- like 57 degrees -- and it is melting the snow. Yay! Hope everyone has a good day today!

Dani, you kept your promise and sent some of your gorgeous warm weather our way. 57 degrees may not sound like much but we will take it because it is melting the snow and ice! Boston is pretty decent now but Northern Maine is still a mess -- and that is where we are going on Tuesday. Oh well -- it is only for three days...

Laura and Julia, I hope you lovely ladies have a very Merry Christmas. Thank you so much for your wonderful support and sage advice this year. You guys are very important to me!

I am here in Northern Maine and it is a frosty 7 degrees out with snow and ice everywhere. The sun is shining though. We are having a very nice meal of roast pork, fresh green beans, brussel sprouts and salad -- but also rolls, potatoes and pies. Hopefully I can stick to the low carb offerings.

Last night we had Christmas Even dinner at Tony's brother's house. They served fish chowder, lobster rolls, calamari, big fat shrimp cocktail, etc. I stuck to shrimp and split a small lobster roll with Tony and had two glasses of white wine -- all I had to eat in the entire day. So while that isn't 100% low carb, I don't think I will gain weight - probably just maintain. The holidays are hard! I did not give in to the desserts though so that is a small victory.

We won't be going home until Friday but I will keep trying to check in!

Missy Dee, you look so pretty in your avatar! Amber, great to hear from you as always. Well, it is Thursday morning and the snow is coming down hard here in Maine. We are supposed to get another five inches. Power is out in other regions in Northern Maine. Tony's dad owns a bunch of property so we need to go check in on those this morning to make sure the pipes did not freeze, the power is okay, etc.

I did okay food-wise yesterday, Christmas Day. I skipped breakfast (except for coffee) and felt hungry at 2:00 PM. So I splurged and had 8 tortilla chips. We had our main meal at 3:00 PM and I had 2 ounces of roast pork, two tablespoons of green beans, 1 tablespoon of brussel sprouts and a bit of salad. To add to that, I had two small glasses of red wine but skipped dessert. I used a calorie/carb counter to determine the damage and it came to about 1100 calories and 35 carbs. Not great but not a disaster either.

I know I sound like a lunatic but I need to pace myself. See, I will be up in Maine until tomorrow and then we go back to Boston and will do a big family dinner tomorrow night at a nice Oceanside inn near our place. And then Saturday we have the big lunch at our place and then another family dinner that night at Morton's. So Tony and I won't have our life get back to "normal" -- meaning without family and just the two of us -- until Sunday. I gain weight really easily and I know I will trip up again between now and Sunday.

Today should be interesting. After we help Tony's dad, I think we will go to the movies (it is too cold and snowy to do anything else -- it is 6 degrees right now!). I think we will see either "American Hustle" or "The Wolf of Wall Street." And then Tony wants to get dinner from his favorite pizza place, Tri City Pizza (I can eat the toppings off the pizza). Being the crazy Virgo that I am, I cannot wait to get home and get back to our routine. I am expecting a nice care package from Netrition and already have this interesting low carb stuffing mix too.

I hope everyone has a great day today xo xo xo

You are So Busy! I hope you get some down time. You are doing very well eating, Amazingly Well! KUTGW!

I failed horribly and am already up almost a 1.5 lbs today. I did it to myself - no one pushed or even suggested non-lc food. I just ate it because I was stupid and just did. Back to it today though, so we shall see how much I can re-lose.

Gail, considering how much you are on the run this week, you are doing pretty good on carbs! 1100 calories and 35 carbs is not bad at all!! I consider less than 20 carbs (what I normally aim for) to be Very low. If I hit 35 carbs on a holiday when I had not very good choices to make, I would be ecstatic!!! I think less than 50 is still quite low.

I agree with you. I can't wait for things to get back to normal here. My house looks crazy this morning. Dishes, wrapping reminants, extra blankets and chairs everywhere. BUT, in the end it is all worth it. Who knows how long we will be blessed with these hectic holiday plans? Might as well love it while we have it <3

Thanks everyone! We had fun yesterday. It was COLD and it snowed 6 inches. We ended up seeing The Wolf of Wall Street and it was great but very long -- three hours! If I had known that, I would have waited for it to come on cable but it was still good. Then we went to Tony's brother's house for another holiday celebration. We did not stay late -- we left at 8:00 PM because the snow was falling so heavily and the roads were not plowed. It was pretty but a little scary driving back.

I did not stay low carb (it is hard when you are a guest at someone's house) but I ate very little and counted calories/watched carb intake instead. This is what I had:

Breakfast: coffee with splenda/half & half
Lunch: water at the movies
Dinner: we got to Tony's brother's place at 4:00 PM and they were eating early in a very informal party atmosphere. They had pizza, sandwiches and boneless wings from their favorite pizza place (which is great). I had one piece of cheese pizza, two boneless wings, four tortilla chips, one glass of white wine and 2 glasses of sugar-free Crystal Light. I estimated this to be about 1370 calories and 45 carbs -- not great but not a disaster. I skipped sweets and drank alcohol only sparingly so I think that helps.

We are on our way back to Boston this morning after shoveling. Wish us luck -- we will need it! Later today we are planning that early dinner at the Oceanside inn with Tony's dad, sister, brother in law and the brother in law's dad (who are arriving in Boston from London). I think if I stick to grilled chicken and salad I should be okay.

Thanks for listening. Knowing that I have to confess my eating here prevents me from cheating too badly and going off the rails -- LOL! I hope everyone has a great day! xo

Judy and Laura, I love your new avatars! You guys look so beautiful. Laura, your hair is gorgeous! Susan, good to see you.

We are home at last with Tony's dad staying with us until Sunday morning. We had a nice dinner last night and planning for the big lunch today and then dinner at Morton's tonight. It will be nice to see Tony's brother, sister in law and two little nieces -- at ages 4 and 7, they are so adorable!

I will check in later. There isn't much snow here in Boston (thank God) but we are supposed to get a torrential rain storm later on Sunday. The winter fun never ends!

Hi Gail! It sounds like you're having a busy, wonderful holiday, and your the menus sound so good! It sounds like you're staying on track very well, to me, despite the holidays. Very disciplined. Holidays and eating at other's get togethers can be so hard.

We've had rain and warm weather in VA this whole holiday! Glad things are peaceful for you this weekend!
