Just Talking To Myself

If I put thought to paper (or computer screen), I will be more aware of my attempts to get to my goal weight and make "it" happen. 12/12/12 marks my one year anniversary of losing weight. Ditching the carbs and dropping the weight has been slow. Started at 176 and today sit at 154 because of not caring what I put in my mouth these last two weeks. I did see 145 briefly in early September, but alas, it wasn't meant to stick at the time. Boo Hoo! My intent is to be at 145 by Christmas. So.....today I will begin again to stop eating bad carbs, count some calories, log my food intake and hopefully make some progress towards my goal.

Hey Laura! How have you been? Your GD is adorable and growing up so fast!
I've been having ups and downs with the scale! Would love to get the last few off and maintain. So far today I've had a cup of fried egg whites and some 80 calorie greek yogurt.

Yep, I snacked.....but it was 17 nuked turkey pepperoni slices, one 14 calorie sugar free popsicle and a small bowl of chopped lettuce with a smidge of ranch dressing. At least I got to chew something and I think I'll be pleased when I step on the scale in the AM! (Note to self: get some dill pickles).

Down 2 pounds overnight! Yipee! I'll keep logging my food so I don't over stuff my face. Who knows what tomorrow will bring! Now it's coffee time with a splash of almond milk .

My efforts have paid off so far! Weight at 149.8 ! Incredible ! Newsflash ...... If I just don't put the "extra" things in my mouth, I can reduce my size !!!
My snacking in the evenings is the reason for any weight gain I experience. I know this, but still I do it. It's like such an urge that takes over me and I give in to it. Like an addict or something. I will continue to fight this little evening devil as I have done this week and pat myself on the back and smile because of it! Gotta conquer the devil !!!

!

Hey, girls! I missed you this summer!

Laura - your grandbaby is a cutie!

Garden - congrats on the loss! Hang in there and you'll be back where you were before you know it.

I let a few lbs. creep back on this summer too. DH is a BAD influence in the eating/drinking department and being with him every day took its toll. We had a lot of fun though. I went from 121 in June to 127.5 on October 20th, when I got back to New Hampshire, and knew I had to STOP. I just bought a whole new wardrobe! And not at thrift stores this time! I'll be sick if I outgrow it so soon.

So I clawed my way back up onto the lc/low cal wagon before it turned into a 30 lb. gain (again). Weighed in at 121 this morning, after a 2 1/2 lb. water gain on the weekend. DH was home and we didn't eat too badly, but had salty stuff and neglected to drink our water.

Good luck, ladies. Keep fighting the good fight! We might need a cushion for the holidays.

NH - nice to see you back! I fell off the wagon in September and really needed to come back. Thought that journaling might be a better way to go rather than a challenge. So far, I'm really pleased with my progress!

No change in weight either way and although I would have liked to see the number on the scale go DOWN a bit today, I'll be happy that it did not go up.
I have been doing very well in the late night snacking. I want to snack, but I make myself stop, think about the need versus the want of the snack and it makes me make a better choice. Like cottage cheese over a cookie! Hopefully, the numbers will move tomorrow - DOWN that is !!! It is my personal encouragement to keep me motivated.

Your body probably just needs a rest for a day or two. When I lose 1 1/2 or 2 lbs. overnight, I usually get 1/2 lb. of it back the next day. It will stay for a day or two, even if I eat the same low calories and drink all of my water. It's been that way since I first started losing, with the exception of a couple of weeks when I was working really hard.

I'm still at 121, though I drank extra water and didn't eat much yesterday. I should exercise, but I'm thinking about pulling out the Christmas decorations early. I'm actually looking forward to the holidays this year because I'm not 30 lbs. over weight anymore! Hope we get some snow!

I'll never be as thin as you! But I know I'll drop a few more pounds before too long! You are certainly energetic with Christmas! We usually do the outside the day after Thanksgiving (porch, gazebo). It's so cold here already!

I'm really not thin yet. I'm only 5'2" and still have 20" thighs and 13 1/2" calves (on a 29" inseam). My legs look like drumsticks. And my knees have a gross fat bulge on the insides! I don't wear dresses or capris because they look so awful. Wish I could just get some lipo and reshape them. Do they do knee lipo?

So I had to go and measure my legs ..Thighs 21" Calves 14" Inseam 31"
@ 5'4 / 148.4 lbs today (only had approx. 700 calories and 16 net carbs yesterday)

This tells me that if your legs look like drumsticks, they must be SMALL drumsticks ! I'm only 2 inches taller than you and weigh ALOT more .

This also tells me that in order to lose more poundage, I really have to try to keep my calories/carbs low. I'll try !!!

I would say they look bigger than yours. The 2" of height you have on me is all in your legs! Don't make me take a picture.

I should not have eaten so many carbs !!! Will try to make better choices today - maybe an egg day? But I want to make a NO Pasta Lasagna for dinner......Portabellos and spinach will be used instead of pasta noodles. My mouth is watering just thinkin' about it !

Your water weight is probably gone now. If so, 2 or 3 lbs. a week is all you'll likely lose. Our bodies just aren't capable of losing more fat than that, unless you have a massive amount of it. But even at 2 lbs. a week, there's still enough time to lose 10 1/2 lbs. before Christmas.

I've been at 121 for 4 days now. Waiting patiently for my whoosh.

ETA: today would probably be a good time to eat your lasagna, after yesterday's super low calories (as long as you can control the portions. hehe).

Weekend over - back to the business of staying on track. I didn't over do it this weekend, but I didn't log my food either and I'm up a pound as a result. I don't think that's too awfully bad. I do better during the week. So the weight today is 149.4. Over the weekend I actually noticed how much thinner my face looks in the mirror! There is still weight to lose - mostly from my torso - I could really kiss my boobs goodbye - hate 'em!

I really had good intentions this week to be good.........it has not been good.
Eating alot of carbs. By noon yesterday, I logged 70 carbs !!!! 70 carbs !!!!
WTH is wrong with my brain these days? If I don't get myself back on track, I'm a goner.......I don't want to go through this so-called "wonderful season" of food and gift giving and end up on January 1st kicking myself in the butt for grazing my way through the madness. Not looking forward to the crazy madness of the holidays ............. already ready for Spring

Don't beat yourself up..... I have been eating carbs too. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this time of year and decided to just bake and cook and keep an eye on the scale, but not gonna LC through it --- I just made the decision not to --- I did last year and I didn't lose anything.

Good luck !

There's nothing wrong with your brain, you're just impatient to get the weight off. All of us are. But too much deprivation almost always leads to loss of control. I know if I ate under 700 calories for a couple of days, I'd be eating everything in sight for a week after. It's hard enough sticking to 1200 calories!

I know I probably come off like a know-it-all when I say this stuff, but I don't intend to. It's just that I wasted 3 years in that vicious "deprivation = over eating = more deprivation" cycle before I finally realized that it didn't even make me lose any faster in the end. It's hard to watch other people going through that now. You really don't need to deprive yourself so much to get there.

Thanks girls! NH - you are not a know it all - I appreciate your straight forward remarks! I know part of my problem is anxiety .... the prep for the Thanksgiving meal that will be consumed in 20 minutes but it took all day to prepare (and some of it was done the day before). Not to mention cleaning the house a bit. DH loves Thanksgiving with all it's smells and yumminess coming from the kitchen - best holiday of the year he says! No gifts to buy!
All he does is cut the meat off the bird (and not very well at that). Bah Humbug already from me ! Pardon my rant....no one else wants to hear it!
I'll be better come Friday !

Garden, you are entitled to a rant. It is hard work to clean the house, cook Thanksgiving dinner and be a good hostess all right in a row with very little help. Entertaining/cooking big meals for others always stresses me out (even though sometimes I like doing it) and it is ALOT of work. You should treat yourself to something nice for you on Friday -- nice lunch, shopping for yourself or even just reading a good book or magazine in a bubble bath with a glass of wine. That always works for me.

The day of Thanksgiving has finally arrived!

That big bird will be stuffed and in the oven as the minutes tick by.

Southern Maryland Stuffed Ham is on a platter.

So why do the carbs matter!?!

Mashed potatoes, seasoned green beans, fried oysters while the turkey is roasting!

Pies are ready. Wine for toasting.

And gravy - don't forget the gravy! It's driving me CRAZY!

Cranberry sauce, olives and wine OH MY!

Rolls and Butter flying by!

I'll be cursing the scale for sure tomorrow!

But will start counting again those bothersome carbos !!!!
