This Maria Emmerich book has so much information!(Healthy Metabolism). I need to take notes as I'm reading! I wish I had the regular book so I could flip through easier instead of on my Kindle.

I've gotten some newsletters from Your Lighter Side. And "pinned" lots of recipes! Do you explore Pinterest? I'm addicted to it!

I'm hanging in there and trying to drink more water with lots of lemon juice to enhance my liver function as recommended by M. Emmerich! Thanks-my avi is a corner of my porch. It's all decked out for the holiday season. I'm a country/junk market kinda a girl with a little victorian thrown in!

I will do that! And I love the corner of your porch -- it is so pretty. When do you drink the water with lemon juice? All day? Is it hot water with lemon or cold?

Recommended to drink throughout the day. Colder the better because it takes more calories to burn colder water. I don't like anything extremely cold though. 2 tablespoons of unsweetened lemon juice to 16 oz of water.
I've had 48 oz so far today. I need to look up how much is recommended.

80 oz of water yesterday.....recommended at least 60 oz for women a day to aid in weight loss. 150 still....

Had an eye incident yesterday afternoon. Getting up from floor, saw wavy, smoke-like floaters in my right eye. They subsided, but now I have spot floaters. I have a history with this eye....age six BB bounced my eye [(no, I didn't do it to myself (brother did)]...as a result of the eye injury, I developed a cataract at age 50. It was removed 5 years ago. So, I'll call my opthomalogist today. Could be my lense is detaching!

Always something !

Oh Susan, I hope you are okay! Having something go wrong with an eye or both eyes can feel very scary. I hope you get to see your doctor soon. Keep us posted on your condition. So great that you drank 8 oz of water --that is 10 glasses a day!!!

I'm not concerned with the number on the scale right now. The senseless tragedy that happened yesterday in CT makes me realize how much more important it is to be thankful for so many other things in your life. Hold your family close and pray for those that have lost their precious angels. So sad and unexplainable for something like this to happen. You never know if this day that you are experiencing is your last day.................................

Thanks Gail - vitreous degeneration (the fluid in the eye breaks down/leaks, can cause retina detachment) Now I need to see a retina specialist because of my ocular history. Fun stuff!

Oh dear, Susan. I hope you are not in pain. Glad you are getting it taken care of quickly. Either way, I hope you have a great weekend. It is actually sunny and around 40 degrees in Boston -- not bad for December -- so I hope it is nice in Maryland!

No pain with the eye thing, just floaters traveling across my field of vision in the right eye. Annoying! Forgot to take all of my medications yesterday and I'm up a pound. I hope it's water weight (I take HCTZ to reduce fluid for blood pressure issues). But It could be cookie weight . Still thinking about the shooting in CT. I just need to stop watching the news! Did some Christmas shopping yesterday and last night had fun at a local horse farm with DH, DD, DSIL and twins that hosts Santa and Christmas activities for the community every year. They put on a very extravagant light show every Christmas, train displays, gift shops, pony rides, Santa, petting zoo, and more!

That sounds like so much fun, Susan. I am glad that you did some fun holiday activities with your family. The CT shooting is just so awful -- I really feel for the poor families that lost their kids as well as those who lost the adults (the teachers and principal killed at the school too). So very tragic, especially at this time of the year.

I think your small gain is just water weight. Try to keep busy and enjoy the grandkids during this fun time -- the weight will come off before you know it.

Yes Gail, we had a great time and I am appreciating my family and the grandkids more and more !

Well, my small gain has turned into a larger one thanks to my own weakness and my lovely SIL. She sent us a box of goodies - nuts, rum cake and chocolate covered butter toffee! I wasn't going to open it. But as soon as DH came home from work, it was broken into faster than you could blink your eyes! And one taste of toffee led to many more !!! It is so good !!!
And now I'm up 3 pounds - 153! Oh well! Gotta be good for the rest of the week I guess !!!

So today I woke with a more positive attitude. I realized there are only 12 days left until New Year's Day! So I am personally challenging myself to focus and track my eating until New Year's Day to see if I can drop some weight. I have been dropping and re-gaining the same pounds since September. I need to get it off and keep it off to meet my goal! I am tracking weight, calories, carbs, fiber, fat and protein. I also want to drink at least 90 oz of water each day and stop the night time snack attacks! I will post my totals for the day each evening.

Maybe I'll look long and lean at the annual New Year's Eve Party my sister throws !!!

Sounds like a plan !!!

Thanks Gail! Tracking my food and increasing my water has really helped!
I'll have a little wiggle room for Christmas Day Dinner. We always have lasagne (DH's italian heritage). I'll have a small portion and lots of salad!

How are you doing with all the temptations?

149 this AM

Had a snack attack last night..........fell asleep on the couch, woke up and the monster took over....I mindlessly went into the kitchen, ate a handful of mixed nuts, 3 small butter cookies and 1 piece of chocolate covered toffee. Then I thought - I'm gonna pay for this in the morning! If I had not snacked, I probably would have been 148.something after a day of low calories/carbs, etc. But, whats done is done and I will continue to try to be good today and no snacking tonight - I HOPE !!! OH Goodness, my stomach just growled at me - Bacon and Eggs here I come !!!!
