Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! The feast has come and gone! I saved all my calories and carbs for the evening meal. I enjoyed a little of everything, but did not over stuff myself. The scale is up to 153. Not too bad since I've been bad all week anyway. I feel like I can easily get back on track now. Kinda feel a sense of calm - maybe it's the turkey effect. I so want to drop some real weight before Christmas and I can and will if a try hard enough!
No Black Friday shopping for me - I rather go outside and rake some leaves!

Thanks Gail! Ranting and eating over! I really don't enjoy entertaining....but it's expected! A treat for me today will be leaf raking in the sunshine!

Well, I woke up this morning to 152.2! That's awesome! I was so good yesterday because of the challenge I joined! I didn't want to disappoint myself with a bad weigh in. Thank you Jeanie! I only ate cheese, eggs, plain turkey, green beans and hard boiled eggs as a snack. It was so hard last night to not grab something carby, but I mustered the strength and determination and I made it! I'm watching the Suzanne Show right now while enjoying my coffee. She promotes this WOE and it's very encouraging to listen to her - I'm feeling much more positive today !

What is the Suzanne Show ? Is it on Direct TV ??

WTG on the weigh in. I've been bad, but back on plan today. 1 week was enough.

Aches and pains and tummy troubles all came back. But i enjoyed it while it lasted

Back on full force today ~~ Glad your Thanksgiving went ok !

I finally got below 150. Weighed in this morning at 149.4 Yesterday was a total of 8 oz of turkey meat, coffee, water, turkey soup for dinner (I picked out the noodles and didn't eat the cornbread I made!).
Snack was a cup of just turkey soup broth. I didn't really feel deprived. I guess the protein factor really kept me feeling full. I'm hopeful I will stay this committed for awhile. Really trying to meet my "journal goal" of 30 pounds lost by 12/12/12. Always get close or at goal......but it doesn't stay that way for long!

I've been bouncing back and forth from 119.5 to 120 for 9 days now. I'm really sick of being so good and getting no results. Every day I feel like eating more and every day I tell myself to just hold on and drink extra water - the scale HAS to move soon. Ugh! Makes me wish I'd just eaten what I wanted on Thanksgiving.

Go Susan! The weight is really coming off. Good for you for resisting cornbread because homemade cornbread is beyond delicious! You will get a good amount of weight off before Christmas.

NH Free: something tells me that the Whoosh Fairy is going to pay you a visit very soon - and then a good three pounds or so will be gone before you know it!

Gail - I can put the weight back on in the blink of an eye ! I looked back to the start of my journaling and see that I lost the same amount of weight just to gain it back before and during Thanksgiving! So I'm really a yo-yo dieter right now! I need to continue on the downward direction to make my goal.
I'll keep trying though !

NH - You are definitely due for a WHOOSH! It will come when you lest expect it! Hold your momentum and you will be rewarded!

148 !!! My high protein, low carb and very little calorie intake is working. But the thing I'm most happy about is the fact that I haven't snacked after dinner AT ALL since last Friday night! Conquering the night noshing has been my saving grace and I've lost 6 pounds !!!

Yay Susan! So funny: night noshing is my biggest problem too. It is hard not to want to snack when I watch TV at night. I usually make myself a cup of herb tea and curl up with a book (or I brush my teeth or take a bath) to distract myself from eating. Good for you for going down six pounds -- that is FANTASTIC

Good work, Garden! I'm too weak to give up my bedtime snack, unless I eat dinner at 8:00.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, ladies. I get too easily discouraged some days.

No scale movement today. I just realized that TOM is over a week late though, so maybe it's that. Which would also explain my wallowing in self pity yesterday.

I'll drown the b@$t@rd in water today for messing with my head!

Third day at 148. This always happens....get the weight down after a five pound gain and then just sit there and get discouraged !

What to do !!!! Jail Bird Diet - Bread and Water "Survivor" Diet - Rice/Beans/Fish Remember when wiring your mouth closed was a solution !!!

Oh Well ! One Day At A Time !!!

Just try to be patient. Drastic measures will only make you want to quit.

I'm on day 11 of Herculean effort with no results, so I feel your pain. I'm not caving in now, after all the work I put into this, but it sure gets frustrating.

Yes, it is extremely frustrating NH, but I'm trying to stay sane and calm knowing that if I make the right choices, something's gotta give eventually!
Thank goodness I can vent my frustrations here. Started Xmas shopping yesterday and feel "in the spirit" now! Re-stocked the kitchen with healthy foods - so I'm all set for the upcoming week. I'm still at 148, but feel good that I did drop the excess weight gained before and during TG. Should be a sunny day today, so I can get outside to finish putting up the greenery and bows! Ho! Ho! Hoping for a skinnier me real soon !!!

Well, my scale finally moved today, and I'm sure yours will soon.

I've been in the Christmas spirit for weeks. It'll probably wear off before Christmas! We have some pretty snow falling right now, but I know it won't stay - Monday's forecast says 57*. Hope we get some accumulation soon. It doesn't seem like Christmas to me without snow.

Have a nice day and good luck with the decorating!

Susan, have fun with the holiday decorating! That is so much fun to do every year. I think your body is just adjusting to the big loss you experienced after Thanksgiving. Give it time and you will be losing again. I think you will likely lose at least 5-7 pounds well before Christmas.

NH, you will lose a bunch of weight once TOM arrives -- that is probably what the hold up is.

Still at 148 and I think it will never change! Didn't finish all of the decorating, but still plenty of time to do so. Got sidetracked by attending an annual Country Christmas Auction with the DH on Saturday. Could have stayed all day, but the grandkids were coming over to spend the night so mom and dad could enjoy their yearly firefighters banquet/dance. So cute having them running around in their footed pajamas on a Sunday morning!

Well, you were right, Gail. TOM never did come, but the PMS symptoms are almost gone and the scale is down 3 lbs. in 4 days. I lowered my goal though. Still have 1 1/2" too much in the waist and thighs!

Hey, Garden - no weight gain on the weekend is a good thing! I bet your scale moves this week!

Well, the scale has moved....but it went UP not down! I have chubbed up by 2 pounds because I just can't behave myself. I don't know why I can be so good for 6 or 7 days and then just let it all go astray to re-gain the loss.
And then I'll be good again and repeat the gain.

I have started reading Maria Emmerich's "Secrets to A Healthy Metabolism".
I'm hoping to gain some inspiration out from it and move forward on the weight loss journey. Maybe I can drop some more during 2013!

Susan, please don't despair! This is only a small and very temporary setback. Remember: you lost 40+ pounds before so you do have a good track record of sticking to low carb. This time of year is very tough -- there is so much food around! Someone in my office brought in homemade donuts from this very fancy bakery and I can still smell them! Boo! Besides, two pounds is not that big of a gain. If you hop right back on low carb, you can flush out those two pounds in just a couple of days.

Have faith. We have faith in YOU!

Garden - Maybe low carb just isn't the best plan for you anymore. Since you're able to stand the occasional 600 or 700 calorie days, have you considered trying JUDDD? I was planning to switch to it when I got near goal, but I don't know if I can stand the low calories on the down days! It would really be nice to have some extras on the up days, though. I'm still debating... maybe a lower carb/no sugar version of it for maintenance.

Thanks guys!!! I'm still at 150 but feeling more optimistic about focusing on what needs to be done to accomplish my goal. Reading Maria Emmerich is helping. She also has a great blog too. Google her! NH - the UD/DD way of eating scares me. I feel like that would create a weight plateau - like I'm experiencing now because I seem to be doing an UP WEEK / DOWN WEEK thing that is not helping AT ALL !!! I need to eat fewer, healthier calories all the time - AS IN FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE !!! Common sense eating is my only hope.

Susan, I love Maria Emmerich and her recipes are divine! There is another great blog called Your Lighter Side that has good recipes and posts too. I really think your weight will go down, Susan. It is tough with TOM, the holidays and winter coming --and the fact that you have so little to lose. You will succeed though!

Well, I've been waiting for this day for a year now. One year ago I made up my mind to lose weight. My weight was 176 - now I'm 150. I did not make my goal of losing 30 pounds. I can't hide the fact that I am disappointed, but I am not discouraged! I will continue to make the effort to remove some of the weight that my body still wants to hold near and dear! My big issue is late night noshing. I wish I could make myself just go to bed at 9:00, but I stay up until 11:00 or later and start snacking. And not always a "good for the diet" snack! I know this is why I stay around 150 and don't go lower, but I continue to do it. Go figure! Yep, disappointed, but like I said - Not discouraged! I'll get my focus back eventually 'cause I certainly don't want to go back to 176 !!!!
