You will be 150 by Thanksgiving for sure. I think your cold is making you hold on to water. I bet that number on the scale goes down once you cold leaves.

It is still raining - that misty, cold, windy rain that makes you just want to sit, read and drink tea. We need the rain, but it's getting old! This is the 6th day of it! Well anyway........I need to restock the kitchen today so I can get through another week of good choices......if I can make myself get out of this chair !

Too much "Sloppy Joe Salad" I guess ! Correction "week" is needed to move the scale!

The search for the delicata squash still remains open...can't find it in my area. Darn!

It is STILL raining . I should not be complaining about the rain. We needed it so badly. I should be cleaning out closets or something...............

I must confess......baked a chicken yesterday for dinner and ate a bit of stuffing! So delightful! But look at the result! I will behave myself today and this week (I hope!) to stay on plan.

But on a better note - the sun is shining and a crisp wind is blowing !!! I will get outside today and put my face to the sun for a "pick me up" !

You are still doing really well though, Susan! Stuffing is super hard to resist especially with a good baked chicken. On Saturday night, I went out to dinner with my girlfriends and got a grilled duck breast which came with butternut squash risotto. I took a tiny bite of it and of course it was delicious. I had the waitress take my plate away early on so I could not eat anymore!

Isn't it a gorgeous day out? Perfect Fall day -- very crisp and sunny!

Yesterday evening we found out that my sister's son has a small tumor in his brain. He was in a car accident and received a CAT Scan as a result - that's how the tumor was noticed. He also has a broken collar bone and bruised ribs. We also had a call from Atlanta that our niece's FIL passed away from brain cancer. Not a good evening.............

Oh Susan, I am so so sorry. What a shame about your nephew -- your sister must be a wreck. I hope and pray to God that the doctor caught this early on so that they can take care of the tumor and you nephew will be okay. So sorry -- gosh that is just scary.

So sorry about your niece's father in law -- that is so sad. Sending prayers to your niece and her family.

Lets all send good healing energy to Susan's nephew, sister and family. We are praying for the best and know that God's love is with you.

Thank you Gail! Your kind words are always comforting. We are all praying that this will go well and he can recover without any complications. It is very worrisome when fiddling around with someone's brain! But he will get the best care in DC.

I have not been very focused on my WOE these last two days. I will put in a better effort and hopefully the scale will cooperate!

Susan, I think you can ease up on yourself a bit -- you are coping with lots of not-so-good family health stuff and that is really hard. If you give yourself a few days off, you will still reach your goals by the holidays.

Troubling times all around! Thank you Gail and Laura for your prayers. We still can't wrap our heads around this issue with our nephew. Extremely worrisome. And to top off my week, the twins have been sick with vomitting and fevers! I went to stay with DD to help her out while her hubby was on his 24 hour shift with the FD. Poor babies - they don't understand the vomit - pitiful ! My food choices are out of control. Time to reel it in and get serious.

Susan, you are doing okay -- don't worry. You are handling some major family turmoil and health issues of others so you can't expect yourself to be perfect. If you have a few days or even a week or two off plan, it won't kill you. And it certainly won't totally derail your efforts. So sorry about your nephew -- that is so scary. And the poor little twins -- your DD must be a nervous wreck. Thank God you are there to help!

Didn't weigh today.......but I've had control over my eating today. But, my big problem is eating mindlessly at night! I'm like a grazing maniac! I hope I can get some control with this issue!

I held strong last night and didn't go binge crazy with the snacking! But the scale is still the same today. 160.........

I need to have alot of willpower today. We are going to the Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Farm with the grandkids today. They offer so many yummy Fall treats! I know my DH will want to buy everything in sight!

Pray for me to just say "NO" !!!!!!!

Praying for you Susan -- you can do this! Think positive. During the evenings, can you find something to keep you busy while you watch TV so you won't snack? Like reading or knitting or needlepoint or even just fooling around on the computer? I find that if I keep myself occupied, I won't snack.

Good luck today -- the Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Farm sounds like so much fun and the grandkids will have a blast! If you husband buys treats, make him hide them from you. Tony does the diet with me but he can still lose weight at much higher carb count than me -- so he hides low carb chocolates and such because I don't want to see them!

So.................we had fun at the Apple Orchard/Pumpkin Farm and we came home with: a dozen doughnuts, a pumpkin roll, acorn squash and butternut squash.

And.............I ate a doughnut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'm not going to eat anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'm not going to weigh myself until Friday (cause I'm afraid, very afraid of what the scale will report to me!!!!!!!)

I'm ready for my 50 lashes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks girls for the pep talk! I've been good for 2 days! Let's see if it lasts.
DH's back has gone out yet again! He is the worst patient ever! So hard-headed. He will not go to a back specialist. Just keeps continuing to go to our family doctor, who just gives him a muscle relaxer. He's really miserable this time...pain shooting down his leg from his back. Shaking my head over this one!

Susan, so sorry about DH's back -- that must be really painful. Men are so stubborn about getting medical care but then they can't stand the pain either. Can your family doctor refer him to a specialist -- would he/she have any influence on your husband?

Good for you for staying on plan for two days! That is awesome.

Rainy, cold day.....BLAH!

Feeling great mentally about my eating! I started taking CLA, 5HTP, D3 and Evening Primrose Oil again. I think it may be helping with the carb cravings.

DH staying home again today with his back issues. I don't know what it's going to take for him to seek out a better doctor.

Hope he feels better soon. WTG on staying the course

I did call an orthopedic this morning! They can't see him until next Wednesday. But at least he will get the opinion of a specialist. And they will call us if they get a cancellation, so he can go in sooner. If it comes to it, his butt is going to the ER or I'm calling 911 and he can fight with the paramedics!
He is so stubborn!

Ugh, Susan, you must be really tired. Nothing worse that spending tons of hours in the ER but glad you took care of DH. You did the right thing. Glad that he is seeing an orthopedic doctor next week. You are a great wife! He is lucky to have you.

Thanks guys! DH went to work today and is doing okay with the meds, but not 100%. The ortho office called this AM to reschedule his Wed appt! SO MAD about that! They cannot see him until Nov 14th because of surgery scheduling. I called another ortho/sports medical office and he can be seen by a physician's asst on Wed. Better than nothing I guess.

I've not been focused on my food choices, but I'm trying get back into the groove. My belt has moved to a different notch and it's not in the direction I want it to go in.
