When we got home, I had a hand-made greeting card and some roses to take to a friend that just had cancer surgery, and we ended up visiting for 2 hours. (We were just going to hand over the flowers and run! LOL)

Breakfast was veggie juic, lunch was wok food at a Chinese restaurant, and dinner was home made chicken soup that a sweet lady sent over.

Busy day tomorrow- Bible study and lots of juicing to be done. Dinner will be salad, salmon and broccoli. Yum!!!
Hope you got some sleep last night and the pain is all gone

Hi guys.

Well it's interesting how life is . . . I went to the store last night on my way back from Lisa's house and bought me some ketone strips. Yes folks, (I'm starting low carbing again). I was amazed at how inexpensive those strips are now! I started thinking about how much they were when I first started my low carb journey waaaaay back when and I was shocked to find that I first found this site in October 2000 - ALMOST 13 YEARS AGO! I was shocked and appalled . . . I have been down to goal weight once during that time and now . . . I'm 100 pounds over the starting weight I posted in 2000 and which is 187 pounds more than my goal weight I hit back in 2002. Good grief . . . am I really almost 200 pound heavier? How does a person do that? It's baffling to me that you never really pay much attention . . . you know you are battling weight . . . you know you are trying to find a way to lose the weight, but you (or at least I) never really understood what I was doing to myself.

So, Lisa has been low carbing for a bit now . . . she's got all this energy and is doing fabulous! This has made me rethink things since i have not been getting serious with my weight loss endeavor. Her example has me planning on starting lowcarbing tomorrow.

i STILL forgot to thaw out the chicken in the freezer, but I think I have a good supply of meat already made. I'm just going to have to fix up some vegetables. And I think that is going to be the trick for me this time around. Usually I am very grouchy when I'm lowcarbing but I think upping my vegi intake will help with that.

We shall see . . . okay . . . I'm off of here. I have some crocheting to do. TTFN

Apparently it is time for ALL of us to get serious. I recently found journals from my first round of Atkins and realized it was working for me because I was working for it! Along with my food journals, I was keeping a log of my exercise... and I was exercising about 45 minutes a day.

Sadly, I doubt I'll be able to do Atkins anymore. My kidneys apparently can't handle all the protein. I haven't spoken with the nephrologist yet, and I can certainly ask his opinion when I see him. Meanwhile, I'm eating healthy raw (mostly) veggies and a little bit of fruit and a little bit of meat. I think the most important change for me is I am not using artificial sweeteners- not even Splenda. I do use a small amount of stevia, and my gum has xylitol in it. But I do need to get back to the exercise!

Get back on that horse, D; and let me know if it needs a swat on the rump!

I just had to post in here! I REALLY noticed that keto strips were SO cheap! I ALSO noticed that I've been on and off her for a decade! WOO! I've never hit my goal, but I did balloon up to 286 lbs! As of right now I'm at my original starting weight. I'm in a different place in my life and feel ready for a healthier life (and onederland!) Good luck to everyone!

Hi Back atcha!

Heading to bed... long day in "America." Went to the bank and NINE stores! Count 'em- NINE!!! No wonder I'm exhausted!

One really expensive health food store has a big bowl that they put marked-down produce in sometimes. I hit the jackpot today- 2 bags of organic romaine lettuce (3 heads each) for $1 a bag, lots of zucchini and cucumbers for 79 cents a pound, leeks for 79 cents a pound and kumquats, also 79 cents a pound. All of these things except the kumquats were on my list, and they all looked fresh and nice No idea why they were marked down, but I'll take 'em!

Nighty-night all!

Awesome that you are seeing success Rebecca! Keep on keepin' on!

Raini, you wear me out just reading about your day . . .

Lisa, I'm sure gonna miss watching biggest loser with you on Monday nights.

Does Biggest Loser do another season this year? Like in the summer or something?

I was telling dh that I counted and we went to 9 places yesterday; but when I started going over the list with him, he remembered 6 more places we went! No wonder we were totally exhausted! We try not to get too many places on our list, but I forgot that we went to some extra places trying to find tie-dyed shirts for- get this - a memorial service next week. We didn't find anything, but I have a blouse I was going to dye anyway, so I might tie-dye it; and we did buy a T-shirt for dh that I ight try to tie-dye as well.

Still waiting for an appointment with the nephrologist. It's a little unnerving having to wait for someone to call me. They said "a week to ten days" and today is day 9. Last time someone was supposed to make an "urgent" appointment for me I had to call three times and they took nearly a week.

Food so far today:

lemon juice in water (first thing)

"green" juice with carrots, zucchini, cucumber, yellow pepper, lemon and apple

At Bible study: raw carrot cupcake (made with healthy vegetable pulp!)

After Bible study- 7 "Mary's Gone Crackers" with some raw almond butter, plus about 8 raw cashews

I'll have more juice between now and dinner, and then dinner will be a big green salad and a small entree' of "something." I was going to make a big pot of soup for dh and myself, but his sister sent over soup and he's going to have that. It tasted kind of sweet and I think it might have sugar-sweetened tomato sauce in it, so I'm not eating it.

Lisa- Have a happy Date Night!

D - Today IS the day! You can do it! (I understand well about "preparing." That's the hardest part, but totally worth it.

Carry on Ladies!

i found some jennie'o breakfast turkey sausage that doesn't have any carbs in it! All the other sausages i saw had carbs and sugars. Not jennie'o! Making scotch eggs for breakfast . . . I think it was cookie who posted this . . . not sure though . . .

preheat oven to 350

12 hb eggs, peeled and layed a paper towel so they dry off a bit.
2 rolls of jimmy dean sausage

divide each roll of sausage into 6 equal lumps

place a lump in the palm of your hand and flatten it out a bit from the center.
place 1 egg into the "well" and bring the sausage up around it forming a solid looking "ball"

bake for 30 -35 min. great out of the oven! great cold! you can even slice them in 1/2, pop out the yolk and make deviled eggs.

here's the other thing i made . . . "on the go muffins"

6 eggs
1/2 cup heavy cream
12 slices bacon, cooked

6 oz cheese (any type of hard cheese or american is good)
salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350

1.In a bowl, scramble the eggs with the cream and salt and pepper.
2. pour into pam sprayed muffing tins, regular or jumbo sized works best. Fill the cups 1/3 to 1/2 full only.
3. Add 1 slice crumbled bacon to each muffin and then 1/2 oz cheese on top of that.
4. Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes or until slightly browned.
5. store in an airtight container in frig for up to 4 day

1 carb per muffin

These smell awesome! I used baby swiss cheese, but I think the next tme I am going to use regular swiss cheese.

OH! And after cooking 6 strips of bacon I remember hearing or reading somewhere a tip about cutting your bacon up before you cook it . . . so the next batch I tried slicing it with a knife. Yeah, right! It basically tore all apart, but then I remembered my chicken scissors! I got those puppies out and started cutting the bacon into small pieces and then fried them up. I gotta tell you, for some reason, the bacon actually tastes BETTER doing it this way. No kidding! I was like . . . "huh?" So I tried a strip and then I tried some cut and yep, the bacon actually tasted better. Go figure.

(note to self - spray pam more generously around the top of the muffin pan . . . hard to get out of tins)
