So breakfast was 8 oz. of veggie juice: cabbage, spinach, cucumber, zucchini, cilantro, parlsey, jicama and carrots and ginger. Also added a wee bit of apple juice and some juice from fresh pineapple cores.

Must tell a funny about the apple and pineapple: So, the veggie juice on it's own is a bit much, and using a small apple or other fruit is recommended. I was really trying to watch the carbs today, but I had an apple already peeled from a recipe yesterday and Dave had set aside the pineapple core for me to use as well. I didn't want to waste them. So I juice them first, put just a little in with my veggie juice, and then put the larger portion of apple and pineapple juice in the 'fridge for DH. He came in for his lunch and I told him I'd made juice for him, and told him where to find it in the 'fridge. A little bit later I looked over and saw him drinking MY veggie juice and I about had a fit! But I did think it was funny that he was drinking the stuff without question or complaint.

Anyway, lunch was another cup of the veggie juice.

Dinner was 4 oz. of organic chicken breast sauteed with fresh mushrooms in garlic olive oil, and a salad made with finely chopped celery, zucchini, cilantro, carrots, some black beans and some corn salsa. (Yes, I know that corn is not low carb.) (Nor are carrots.)

I probably need to eat more, but today's menu was a knee-jerk reaction to getting on the scale and wanting to curl up and die. I did accomplish a couple of very important things: I did NOT snack on nuts or tortilla chips or gluten-free pretzels or any of the other things I've been grabbing lately. I need to focus on "conscious eating" and be aware of everything that I am eating.

Going off low-carb (doc's orders) felt like it was giving me license to eat "carp" (LOL) that I know better than to eat. Just because something is gluten-free does not mean it is good for me. I need to find a balance that will keep the doc happy (and I'm getting a new one on Friday, so we'll see what she is like) and that will be healthy for me and help me lose weight.

I also drank 8 glasses of water today. I need more, but this is way better than what I've been doing. However, I am worried about the leg cramps that are sure to come again. They always do when I'm drinking more water.

I exercised today, as well. And took all my supplements and fiber. So all in all, a pretty good day.

Hope everyone else is doing great.
well. I had to take an ice pick to the key board...lol.. its IS cold here.. freeeeeezing cold.. so send some of that island heat over here please..

what do you consider "crap" on low carb?? Just curious...

do your best!

NOT low carb - (and I said "carp" not "crap", just for the record! tee hee) When my doc said no to low carb, I used that as an excuse to eat gluten-free pretzels, gluten-free breads and other things that I don't need to be eating, no matter what WOE I'm using.

I see my cardiologist on Friday and will ask for her opinions, but I basically want to stay away from wheat products ("want to" isn't really correct- I HAVE to!),refined sugar, artificial sweeteners and processed foods. I'm good at doing parts of that at any given time, but I need to get my act together and stick with it ALL.

And also for the record, I LOVE the low-carb WOE. It seems to be the only thing I can stick with and not be hungry all the time. I want to see if I can do a modified version that will keep all the specialists happy.

Good evening ladies!

Had a pretty good day so far, except I'm not eating enough. Sounds funny, but we've all learned that our bodies won't release fat if we aren't eating. Grrrr....

I slept in.... WAY in. I read until almost 3am this morning, so I set my alarm for 11 am. Cats woke me about 6, I think, and then I tried to go back to sleep. I finally started reading for awhile and then got back to sleep maybe an hour later.

That meant that my juice was not made when I got up. Therefore, no breakfast ready! I decided to make tonight's salad first and get it over with. Then I made my juice and it was 2 pm before I had anything to eat. I had 1 and 1/2 cups of my veggie juice and I've been full til now, and now I'm hungry enough to eat just about anything. Except Durian. Look up on youtube and see about Durian. No, really. Go look it up. I'll wait.

Now you know why I'm not hungry enough for Durian. Unless you didn't follow instructions.

So, I also exercised, had some water and fiber, and did my Daily Bible study and prayer. I got a little done in my office that needed to be done. I need to drink some more veggie juice and then head down to wash my hair. We'll have dinner after that - chicken burgers AFTER we've had my big, yummy salad. Not sure if I'll have abun with that or not.

Tomorrow is my appointment with my cardiologist. Please pray for that- not even sure what to pray for. I need to know exactly how much damage my heart has and whether or not it can be repaired with nutrition and/or medication. I'm hoping she will have wisdom, knowledge and compassion. I get all stressed thinking about the appointment, but it's not the appointment itself that upsets me. It's the the last few appointments I have had for anything have each brought more bad news.

So... really liked my cardiologist. Seems to be knowledgeable and caring. She doesn't want me doing low carb. She says that portion control is the way to go, but I can't control portions when I am hungry all the time! On LC I am not hungry. : (

My blood pressure was extremely high-- as far as I know, it has only been that high two or three times before. My doc said - "Yeah - as far as you KNOW!" So I ordered a BP monitor and will have to use it every day. It should be here tomorrow, but Amazon Prime is not good at getting things here when they promise, so I'm not holding my breath.

She's ordered a lot of tests and blood work, so there will be many more appts in the near future. I will be asking for prayers when I have to do the treadmill test for sure. And PLEASE - anyone who has already had one do NOT tell me how awful it is! One consolation for that is that my doctor will actually be with me! I was amazed and very comforted to hear that. I want the Lord with me more though!

Yummers! Love the menu! I'm feeling like going back full low carb against docs wishes. I hate being hungry all the time, eating less and gaining more.

Glad you liked the card. You probably couldn't tell, but the little girl on the card is a fairy and it is all "fussy-cut" out by hand and then raised up to make it dimensional. Our families weren't close when the kids were growing up, thanks to my brother's ex-wife. But I love those kids and know that Clover is going through a rough time with sick kiddos and all, and wanted to make her a card she would love.

Their house and property are amazing. When you walk up to the front door, you can see right through the house to the back door, and you can see a waterfall coming down the mountain behind their house that ends in a pond right off the back porch. Clover and her husband wanted to make rock steps and started digging them out, and actually uncovered huge rock steps that had already been placed there years ago. Clover also built a rock wall along the front of the house, and dug out the bank in two places and built stone benches into the rock wall. She is so creative and talented!

I am reading! Yum yum yum! Have a wonderful week. You are doing great.

Tomorrow I start a program called 40 Days to Fit and Fabulous. It's being led by the creator of Praise Moves. They had a phone conference this evening, outlining just exactly what we'll be doing. It focuses on faith in Jesus and teachings in the Bible. It came just as I was giving up hope on ever being truly healthy again. I SO needed this! Every report from any of my doctors has brought so much bad news, and I still have more tests to undergo and more hoops to jump through (figuratively speaking, of course!) I am asking God to make me ready to quit whining about my health problems and trust Him to use me however He wants to use me.

I need to wrap things up and get ready for bed - one of my goals for the next 40 days will be to get to bed at a decent hour. Not sure I'll quite make it tonight, but that's ok because the program starts tomorrow! G'night all!

Monet!! Congrats on the 5lbs! Hoping they stuck for your weigh-in today. You are amazing, and such an inspiration to me!!

Can you give me some details on the protein powder you use?

Raini, I'm praying for you and your medical issues. I am also praying for you as you start your new program. Anytime, we put Jesus first, we're bound to succeed. My issue is that I never leave Him first, I try to drive ...

Well... not sure what was going on with the scales.. but.. my total for the week was only 1.4 down... 6 lost in 2 weeks... not bad , but not my normal either.. I so blame it on the fruits.. that's my story and Im' stickin to it..

meny for today

B.. 4 scrambled egg whites and a banana

L.. 4 Romaine leaves with 1 1/2 TBSP of chicken salad on each rolled up... and 1 sliced roma tomato

S.. chocolate candies Beth told me about... but I am not sure I got the right bar.. she said Lindt 85 % and it has lots of carbs.... I thought she said they were .8 each... I'm confused.. so I am gonna try something else..

Calories in Lindt - 85% Cocoa Extra Dark Excellence | Nutrition and Health Facts

Beth if you read this.. please help me understand.. .. ok I went back... so it is 15 minus 6... divided by 12 equals .75 ?? ... I truly have a comprehension problem... :/

First of all, I am so glad you took the clothes off your elliptical and not took your clothes off to DO the elliptical. Had to read that twice.

I think baby steps is definitely the best way to go. I bet you'll be surprised at how fast you will be able to increase the intensity. Good work my friend!

My official weigh-in for the beginning of my new program was one-half pound down from where I've been hovering the last few weeks. I'll take it!

Looking over my patterns for weight loss and weight gains, seems I tend to lose in the winter when I can be more focused on my health and not involved in so many other things. Summer is bad because we have tons of company. I usually start with a healthy game plan for menus, but always get caught up in fixing extra stuff that is fun when you have company but not really good for any of us. (Carmel corn comes to mind, because some of our guests pointed out how much they kind I make.) Or often our company brings a bunch of junk food to supplement whatever I'm serving, and I apparently have no will power to say no.

Holidays are bad for the same reason. I can plan and plan and plan, but I end up eating the stuff we make for guests or the stuff the guests bring that aren't healthy.

We have an anniversary celebration to go to this week-end. It's at a big fancy reception estate, so I called to find out what was being served. Looks like there will be plenty of healthy options, so I'm not going to stress out over it. Just hope I will behave myself and stay away from the junky stuff.

Hang in there everyone!!!

Ahhhh, snow days are supposed to be FUN!

I did really well yesterday meeting most of my goals. There is one called "Tummy Curfew" that means we don't eat within 3-4 hours of bedtime, and that one is tough for me. My tummy starts growling at me just before bed, and I've gotten in a nasty habit of grabbing half a sandwich or something else - never healthy, mind you. Well, one night I actually made it through the Tummy Curfew without eating anything at all. Two nights I have had a small handful of macadamia nuts. (Last night I had 4 nuts.) It stops the growling and I think I sleep a little better.

I may make Pulp Muffins today if I have time. (I also call them Muffin Lumps because they just stay in whatever position I drop them in the muffin pans - just lumps.) I didn't put any kind of sugar in mine and they were more of a savory biscuit. I made them for Bible Study once and apologized, but the ladies ate them up and asked for the recipe.

I've been exercising every day, and for longer than I have in years. I am feeling good (except for one knee that seems a little out of whack) and got GOOD news from my cardiologist for the first time! She said my lab results from last Friday were better than the ones the time before. I haven't seen them yet to compare, but I will take any good news I can get!

An now, as part of my commitment to stop wasting time, I am going to get off the computer NOW!
