I've finally completed my move to Tucson.

Which means I've finally got a scale. 277 this morning. It was 280 yesterday morning. I have no interest in knowing what it was before that.

I've been rock solid on plan for at least a month. I'm not where I was, in terms of weight loss -- but I'm also a far cry from where I started. My life has stabilized, and I am now able to fully commit to weight loss as a primary goal again.

Even during the long drive from Seattle to Tucson via Reno in a 12 foot moving truck, I was able to stay completely on plan.

How committed can I be, you ask?

106 degrees. 40% humidity. Dew point above 65. And I drive right past that Dairy Queen every day without considering stopping for a chocolate dipped soft serve cone. It might be refreshing in the short term, but nothing is going to cool me down like burning off some of this insulation I'm carting around.

That's when I know I'm in the right headspace: it's when no reward is greater than a smaller number on the scale.

First day back to work. Only got an hour of sleep, so there wasn't time to weigh in. Just finished Tuesday's 18-hour pork shoulder, so now the whole pork sirloin is going in. It's a big chunk of meat, but I'll have to carve it more like a roast - rather than pulling, so I don't expect it to last as long.

I was wise enough to wait until Saturday to return to work. First day back is always difficult, but a high volume Friday would have killed me.

So I'm somewhere in the upper 270s. What a drag. but I'm also starting to see consistent improvement in the days I do weigh in. I'm in the "butter zone" for weight loss right now. I might get a month or two of solid losses before I start to level out. Maybe I can get back under 250 before 2015.

That would be enough to put me at a net result of nothing for the entire year.

But something is accomplished, even when you can't see it on the scale. Successfully recovering from rebound is part of the journey. It's a vital tool in the quest for reclaiming the ability to wear clothes that don't involve the word, 'extra'.

If I ever get back into a 0XL situation, I think I'll celebrate with a collection of flashy zoot suits.

You'll get there! Glad to "see" you back on the boards.

There is a thread called Hard Core Atkins 72. You might enjoy that. The weight loss is phenomenal for some of the posters.

Just don't wear a red one, (I will admit to watching a springer episode once), where 3 women called a guy in a red zoot suit "kool-aid"!!

Went out storm chasing last night. I was able to catch up with the thunderstorm about an hour west of Tucson, over by Kitt Peak observatory.

It was a great show. Constant lightning, in all directions, as far as the eye could see.

I have weird hobbies.

Storm chasing! You got guts! I don't think it's weird at all. We've all got our thing...I've started collecting books on Victorian funeral customs and superstitions...see, ya don't think the whole storm chasing thing is weird now, do ya?.......LOL!!!

Right on! And may you always have a button to hold in the event you encounter a funeral cortege coming toward you.....
