DAY NINETEEN!

Here I am at a sushi restaurant with my mom! Still on plan!

Had a wonderful dinner with my husband last night --12oz ribeye steak, a charcuterie platter and a wonderful Caesar salad. After dinner, I was stuffed!

More later!

Dh brought me breakfast in bed this a.m. Nice gesture but it was way to early to eat (for me) and almost an hour earlier than I planned to get up. (Who would have thought I'd whine about getting breakfast in bed, especially when it almost never happens anymore!!!)
Anyway, now I'm hungry and have no idea what to eat because it's earlier than I usually have lunch and nothing is ready. Guess I need to work on that.

Hello everyone.

I've been reading and keeping up; glad to see everyone posting on here and keep us all encouraged.

I've been doing well on 20gm carbs a day, haven't been testing positive on the ketostix though. That part I don't like, but I weighed myself this morning and lost 4lbs since Wednesday so I guess that's a good thing. I also took measurements again and lost some inches since I checked a week ago. I guess the testing pink/purple isn't always necessary, but I like seeing the purple that lets me know I'm doing good. I like the instant checks when I pee, instead of the occasional check of the scale and inches.

I know I'm probably being anal.

DAY TWENTY!

Good morning, everyone!!!

First of all, welcome BecBelle! Hope you continue to find this thread inspiring--I know I have!

Raini--I tend to fall off the wagon easier when food isn't readily available. On Saturday my Husband went to work and I had to fend for myself. I ended up not eating anything except a few pieces of cheese because that's what I had. I knew that would happen (I knew my H wouldn't be around to prepare my breakfast/lunch) so I made sure I had snacky foods like cheese, available.

Regarding your comment on my "I told you so" post....they wouldn't exactly say "I told you so" but you just knew/felt that they were all rolling their eyes and thinking "guess who's back"! I don't know--maybe it was just my insecurity???

Mayimba--I NEVER use Ketostix. I find that they're not all that reliable--they can degrade if you store them wrong or even if they're old when you buy them. I go by stinky breath!

Things are going great with me. I did a pre-weigh in this morning and I'm showing another 2lbs lost since last weigh in, which is GREAT...but...I was REALLY thinking that I'd be gaining water weight with TOM/Aunt Flo by now!

Thanks for the welcome.

I find my Pre-Tom bloat is almost nonexistant when I'm LCing. This is coming from someone who can turn into 300lb camel hump of water retention.

Rock on, you are shrinking!!

When I've low carbed in the past, I always had 10lb increases in weight before TOM, BUT all those other times, I was using birth control pills. I think the fact that I'm no longer using them may change that a bit.

Thanks!!!

I'm hoping to keep this thread going until Christmas when I can use it to keep me motivated. It's SO HARD being the only person who can't have "just a taste". Lucky for me, my sister always tries to make me a sugarfree something or other.....

DAY TWENTY-ONE!!!

Officially three weeks today, I decided to make my serious life change to low carb and I am SO glad that I did.

Although I expected TOM at the beginning of this week, I still have no symptoms and no water retention. I stepped on the scale this morning to check if I was retaining water, but I actually lost a pound since yesterday. Sure, it's great that I've lost that pound, but if I expect to have TOM by tomorrow, I should be retaining water today.

The great thing is that even if I'm not pregnant, at least I haven't been sidetracked by TOM and his evil cravings and water weight.

I had TRULY forgotten how much I LOVE this WOE!!!

Tomorrow is WEIGH IN DAY!!!!

We had two meals out today and I did great. The first place had a salad, chicken and pizza bar, all you can eat for $8.50. I asked if they'd cook up some chicken without breading it and they thought I was nuts. But they did it anyway and it turned out great. They seemed surprised, but now maybe they will offer it to others and get some more happy customers. As far as the pizza went, I ate the topping off two pieces and saved the crusts for the seagulls. (THEY were happy!) And the salad bar was all lovely, freshly cut-up lettuce, not that nasty bagged lettuce.

Dinner was an upscale restaurant, and I ordered poached salmon with broccoli instead of any potato choice. I asked them not to bring the garlic bread but it showed up anyway. I put it on dh's plate, but he brought it home with him so I'll have to face it again tomorrow. (Grrr.) I ate half my salmon and half the broccoli, so I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow! That salmon was as good as or better than any I've ever eaten. Not fishy smelling at all- just very mild tasting and very moist. Yum!

DAY TWENTY-TWO!

WEIGH IN DAY!!!!

I weighed in at 338.6!!!!! Much better than I expected!

I have no idea where TOM is. Today is my day 28 and I NEVER go over 28 days. In fact, I'm usually between 25 and 27 days. It could be my diet throwing me off, but that remains to be seen..

Off to change my stats!

Have a great low carb day!

DAY TWENTY-THREE!!

Good morning, fellow low carbers!

I wanted to share the awesome dinner I had last night because it was so so !!

This is what I had:

2 veal chops
1 cup button mushrooms

I cooked the mushrooms in butter for a few minutes then set them aside. Then I seasoned my veal with salt, pepper, garlic and a pinch of rosemary. I browned them, then put the heat on low, added a quarter cup of heavy cream to the pan, mixed and threw the mushrooms back in. I cooked on minimum heat for 15 minutes and voila....the result was yummy, rich, low carb goodness!!!!!

Tonight I'm making meatballs.....

Pregnancy watch:

I'm on day 29.

I NEVER have a cycle this long. I keep having these twinges of cramps, but nothing serious....and lower back pain like I'm getting TOM, but it just isn't showing up. I'm not one to get a lot of preliminary pain---usually the day before TOM I have cramps, lower back pain and headache. I've been having the cramps and lower back pain since Monday.......not even a spot, though.

The last time I successfully conceived, I had been low carbing.

I'm trying not to jinx the whole thing.....I COULD have a pregnancy test tomorrow, but I don't know....I almost don't want anything to burst my little bubble of happiness....

That veal w creamy shrooms sounds delish. Maybe that will be tonight's dinner!

I am not a prayer person but I am sending you intense good thought beams through the upper part of the fifty states and straight through to you there in Canada! Fingers crossed.

But no matter what, stay strong and committed!

Thanks, Gabby and ReadyFreddy!

I'm going to share something personal with the board....since my ectopic pregnancy in 2010, I've wanted nothing except to have a child. I only want ONE.

I've been to two fertility clinics that told me that they wouldn't do IVF because I'm too fat. I tried IUI and it failed three times. I've taken injectable hormones which I am sure put weight on me.....BUT....when I lost hope and just decided that children weren't in my future, I also decided to lose my weight.

Knowing that I'm doing something healthy for my future balances out the disappointment that I might feel if I find out I'm not pregnant...and that's ok.

I WILL NOT self medicate with food.

I WILL NOT get down on myself because of my infertility.

I WILL NOT allow this temporary set back derail my progress!

DAY TWENTY-FOUR!!

Happy Friday to all!

I'm still on track, eating all the right foods...proud to declare that I am twenty four days cheat free!

This morning I decided to take the bull by the horns and solve the riddle of my missing TOM. Instead of buying an unreliable pregnancy test, I stopped by the fertility clinic this morning and had them do a blood test.

I should know the results by noon!

Your resolve and wonderful attitude are contagious! I found this thread last night and have thought a lot about what you have said about taking responsibility, no excuses, and making good choices to follow through with your LC WOE to lose weight and be healthier.

I am so prone to making excuses and saying "just one" won't hurt but thanks to you putting it out there in black and white (as many others have, but for some reason it has really sunk in this time) I too am not going to kid myself anymore or make excuses.

Carbs are poison to me. I am at an age where I must stop eating food that will probably kill me and make healthy choices FOR ME.

I have lost 70 lbs over 2 years, but for some reason I just can't give myself much credit for it. Talk about age old emotional baggage, boy do I have some.
But we'll save all that for another time.

So right now I weight 261.6, and will work even harder now to get under 200. I won't stop there, but will reassess when I reach 199.

Melle's, you are so honest and forthcoming and full of determination and you have helped me see that I have allowed myself to make excuses not doing my best to lose all this weight, get healthy, have more energy, and truly be good to myself. I am one of those people who cannot eat things with flour and sugar. It is poison to me. Just like booze and the alcoholic and cigarettes to the smoker, carbs are my poison.

Thank you so much, and thanks to everyone for helping me see the light. I look forward to watching everyone succeed in their journey as I do right along with you!

Thanks, JayLynn....I agree, I can't touch sugar or carbs either---I feel like a junkie because I AM a junkie. The problem with people like us is that others don't realize how detrimental carbohydrates are to us.

Be strong! You will get to where you want to be---70 lbs? You've done FABULOUS already!!!!!

I know you're disappointed, but what an amazing attitude you have! I can't say that enough! It truly shines through and helps me know that my health is the most important thing and I CAN DO THIS! We all can, healthy choice by healthy choice. Stay focused, Melles, and if "it" is meant to be....well....you know.

Just to keep be accountable, so far today I have eaten:

LCGF pancake made with almond flour, flaxmeal, eggs, vanilla, spenda, HC.
2 scrambled eggs with 1 TB sharp cheddar
3 jimmydean turkey sausage
1 SF mocha espresso with HC

I love breakfast, it is the biggest meal of the day for me. Plus I wake up hungry because I no longer snack all night!

I don't really eat lunch but have some celery, cauli, radishes with dip.
Dinner will be grilled salmon, sauteed mushrooms in butter, and a few brussel sprouts.

I made cream cheese clouds for my sweet tooth, and will have one today with some green tea.

I drink LOTS of water, always have. About 10-12 oz glasses per day.

Sending happy thoughts to all you LC'rs wishing you a great, happy day!
