I must admit, I'm very impressed with the challenges you've sailed through! That's a lot of toughies in a very short time! The good news is that the next time they come up, you'll already know you can stay strong. (Knowing makes it easier.)

You're doing great! Keep it up!
Thanks!

I've been reading your posts around the site and I have to say that I love your passion for this WOE!!!

Feel free to come back and check up anytime!

Wow! I'm so proud of you! If you can do it, so can I! I lost 4lbs in my first 3 days. My weigh ins are Wednesdays when I visit my doctor. I started on full effect 10/22/12 so today at noon is my weigh in after a week so I'm excited to see how much I've lost in this entire week and half.

But seriously girl, you are my inspiration! I know it you can do this, and so many others on here, then so can I! I lost so much and did so good on this WOE years back, I am determined to stay with this woe for the rest of my life.

LETS DO THIS!

I have to admit I took last Saturday off (I was on day 5 and in full ketosis) but I spent the day at Six Flags with my 15 yr old so I decided to take the day off. Too much tempting food and I had one high carb lunch and dinner.

Good news is that I started right back up on Sunday morning so I've been testing pink on the keto strips since yesterday. Today I'm in the dark pink (large - 80ml) region. YAY!

Weigh in is today...I'm excited!

DAY FIFTEEN!

Weigh in day....and I'm at 342 on the nose....so, 13lbs.

Aunt Flo is expected in a few days and I know I'm retaining water, so next weigh in should show more dramatic results.. I'm not complaining about 13 lbs in 15 days...no sirree!

Keep up the good work, both of you!

Mayimba, you may have fallen off the wagon, but you caught it again before it rolled off! That's the way to make this WORK!

Melle, yeah, I love the post-TOM weight-checks! lol It's always so satisfying to see those numbers drop. It may not be fat-loss, but... I've still been accounting for those pounds on the scale for over a week, by then. It's kinda like then is when I get to see how much I've REALLY lost!

That is great! If you feel like telling us about your weigh in- we are all ears. If not so much, we get it and will look forward to next week (sans Six Flags carbo load!).

LOL. Thank you ladies and yes, I'll share my weigh in. I had my numbers off a bit so I have to change my signature, but here goes:

On 10/17 I weighed in at 270
On 10/25 (3 days after I officially started low carbing) weight was 266.4
Today 10/31 I weighed in at 264.1

That's a total of 5.9 lbs since 10/22 so 9 days in (I REALLY wish I hadn't cheated last Saturday) lol

Either way, I'm happy with the loss and I know that I won't fall victim to six flags again because I want to see the scale go down and down and down!

Thanks for the support everyone! I'm so determined to get this done right this time.

Oh and to explain the discrepancy in weight, I also use my scale at home an its different than the doctors scale so I'm only going to post the weigh ins on Wednesdays when I go see her. That will help me keep my numbers straight.

Ohhhh and I've lost 9 inches all over, mostly belly and hips. Yay!!!

You're doing great! Broths are best for being under the weather anyway low carb or not. So have some brothy soup sans the carbs and be well.

DAY SEVENTEEN!

Thanks for the advice about broths....I wasn't able to have any yesterday but I had forgotten broth as an option.

Good news---I stepped on the scale today and even though I'm expecting Aunt Flo in the next two days, I'm down nearly a pound!!

I am truly loving this. I have the WORST breath, but my gosh, do I love it that I'm doing something to get rid of the extra weight....

Happy low carb weekend to all!!!

I just read this article---it mentions the author of Wheat Belly....

“Modern wheat' hurting health, adding pounds, Dr. William Davis says | Ocala.com

Very interesting!

It's an excellent book about how carbohydrates are a problem.

I have to admit, I haven't read it yet but I'm going to.

Wheat Belly is awesome!

It's written pretty sarcastically so is an easy, funny read.
I think the science is less rigorous than the Taubes and Phonney/Volek books.
But he gets his point across very well.

Just getting back on track after switching WOEs and now switching back. I've been reading all the posts here to glean all the ideas and encouragement I can.

I read today on a Wheat Belly blog that one of my medications might be hindering my weight loss. Note to self: make appt. with doc when I get home to discuss this... IF he will listen.

Thanks, Mayimba. Dh isn't too happy about the change of WOE... I got rid of cookbooks before we left on vacation and bought lots of new foods and appliances. So it was a spendy switch to go back- but I have to figure out what is right for my body.

I won't be able to weigh for awhile, but I'll know if I'm feeling better and hopefully my clothes will show if I'm losing.

DAY EIGHTEEN!!

Ugh...I'm definitely sick. My head aches, my sinuses hurt and I'm still pukey. No sign of Aunt Flo, though....

I'm cleaning the house right now, but I thought I'd take a break to reflect on something that was hindering my re-start on low carb.

The first time I lost weight low carbing, I used forums and the friends I met there to help me on my journey. When I'd fall off the wagon, there was always someone who would cheer me on. Finally, after falling off SO many times and gaining back so much weight, I simply felt that coming back here would be too painful. I just didn't want to see the old timers and have them say "we told you so".

What I'm thankful for is a new bunch of low carbers here a LCF who see me as a new face. That has given me so much enthusiasm and motivation to stay on plan....so, thanks everyone for being so welcoming to this old lady.

Have a wonderful weekend!

PS--I'm taking my Husband to a nice restaurant for his birthday tonight. I checked the menu online and I have already picked out my dinner for tonight. Because it's the weekend, I'm having vegetables () and I just can't wait to sink my teeth into a nice caesar salad. Isn't it amazing how you crave things like salad when you haven't had it in a while???

I'm glad you're getting a new start on your WOE. I can't imagine any of the "old" group saying "I told you so" but one thing that was said to me hurt a lot and I haven't been able to forget. When I had lost something like 65 pounds and then had a really long stall, one fellow said that maybe that's all I was meant to lose and something about being old and I should just learn to be happy at that weight. Like my age had anything to do with not deserving to be fit and healthy!!!??? (And I was a lot younger then!) I never did lose any more weight and then actually gained it all back.

I do know that the first time I did low carb that I didn't cheat. Never. Not even on a cruise we took with friends. But our friends cheated, and that's when they started gaining back. And later, once I did start to cheat "just a little" it was a slippery slope and I couldn't get back on track. So now here I am on an extended vacation and faced with lots of dining out and tempting situations. I wanna say I can't cheat- won't cheat - but I can only pray that I can stay strong enough to stick with it.

As for you, great job on checking out the menu ahead of time and choosing your meal! I think that's a fantastic way to plan ahead and makes for a much better chance of staying on plan. I wish you and your dh a lovely evening. Tell him Happy Birthday from all of us here!
