Day 301

Hi Abby and RCookie!

Thanks for the votes of confidence! At this point, there is no question that I will make it to day 365. I remember being 6 months in and still questioning whether I had the ability to continue on. Doing it really is the PROOF.

This weekend (Saturday) Hubby and I are going to the CNE (Canadian National Exhibition). If you're interested you can look it up online. It's a huge yearly fair/festival held in Toronto every August.

At first I was a bit worried about the food choices, but there are food trucks this year and there's usually really good food from around the world (Greek, Asian, Indian, Middle Eastern) that can be modified to fit my plan.

It should be a great day--we plan to go from 10 am until 5.00 ...lots of walking!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf coffee

Lunch:
Crockpot pot roast
1 diet soda
Some peanuts (have them on my desk; was snacky yesterday)

Dinner:
Hamburgers
Caprese salad (Tomatoes, basil (both from our garden) and mozzarella cheese)

Went swimming for 1 hour. Walked 2 hours on the waterfront in 30f+ weather.

Now I have a splitting headache..

Day 304

Back to work and reality!

So, my weekend---let's see....Husband woke me up at 9 am on Saturday to go to the CNE and unfortunately, he didn't leave me time for my regular bacon and eggs. We jumped on the train and figured we'd eat something at the CNE. That something turned out to be chicken wings for me. They were good--not sweet but not really a satisfying portion. There were about 8 really tiny ones.

At some point during our day (5 hours of walking) I had a deep fried Mars bar. YES, folks....I ate the ultimate low carb no-no....but, I enjoyed it and ate clean for the rest of the day. I even checked the carb count for a Mars bar--36 carbs plus whatever the fritter batter was worth.....meh...considering that I could easily down a 12 pack of cupcakes in a day, that was really small potatoes.

I did a lot of exercise yesterday and I think that my body burned most of the carbohydrates that I had in that Mars bar. Cognitively, I know that the deep fried Mars bar wasn't good for me, but it was nostalgic. THis isn't something I'd eat once a day, once a week or even once a year....

SO, back to healthy eating.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf coffee
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
Pot roast w/onions
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Grilled chicken breasts
Caprese Salad made with fresh tomatoes from my garden, basil, (also from my garden) and buffalo mozzarella cheese.

Sounds like a really fun weekend!
Good for you on keeping your head on straight about the Mars bar. This is a WOE for life. So occasionally something special comes up. No big deal.

Sounds amazing - I've never had one. My fave fair food is elephant ears. I know I'll have one again at some point.

Have a good Monday!

RCookie--to be honest, there's wasn't anything really special about that Mars bar. I probably won't have another one. It's was just ok.

I'm not crazy about Elephant Ears, either (we call them "Beaver Tails")...I guess fair food, although nostalgic, just doesn't taste great!

Tonight I'm having one of my favourite winter dishes---Dutch sausages with Sauerkraut! YUMMY!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
Pot roast w/onions
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Rookswurst w/sauerkraut and bacon
Caprese salad (I'm LOVING my garden veg this year!)

Day 306

Weighed in at 297.2 this morning.

Blah--I'm not going to attribute this to the Mars bar, but it very well may be why I'm up 4 lbs. I'm thinking that I'm retaining a lot of water right now--I'm ovulating, it's SUPER humid and hot outside AND I ate a very salty dinner last night. Not to mention--I'm under stress at work and I'm not sleeping very well. All week my body has been gearing up for a wicked migraine.....

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
2 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Potroast w/roasted red pepper sauce
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Flattened chicken
Tomato salad
Sparkling water

Hi Melle's Sweetheart, just poppin' in to say hi! Sounds like you had a great time at the fair! You're making me want to visit Canada!
I'm sure the scale will be back down in no time - I wouldn't worry about the Mars bar, since it didn't give you cravings. The important thing is you're still dedicated to your WOE, no doubt the scale will fall in line soon! Cheers!

Alex-true about the cravings. I just don't seem to get them anymore. I suspect that even with a few higher carb items *ahem* Mars Bar *ahem* my body doesn't jump into "cravings" mode. I suspect it's because I exercised the extra carbs away before I could act on any cravings.

This Time---hi! Still reading, eh? Hehe...

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
2 cups of decaf coffee

Lunch:
Pot roast w/onions
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Zuchinni, onions, tomato and cheese casserole
CHicken breast

I should be ecstatic that today is the last day before a long weekend, but I'm not. I think it's because I haven't cleaned my house in so long. My husband has been doing it, but for some reason, I'm not getting that feeling of satisfaction that I usually do from cleaning so I feel like I'm missing something.

ARGH...stupid brain.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf
Handful of salt free cashews

Lunch:
Potroast w/onions
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 filet of trout on the BBQ

Went to the fair today.

There wasn't anything decent to eat there so I nabbed some of my husband's onion rings. I haven't had anything else yet except a cup of coffee.

The weekend has been good so far--lots of reading.

Tomorrow is the last day of our state fair here in Oregon. I so wanted to go but my 2 year old has a cold, and I don't want to make it worse or get anyone else sick...oh well!
Hope it was fun, lots of reading sounds good, too! What do you like to read?

Day 311

Hi alex!

There are so many county fairs here that I could probably visit two per week from now until Thanksgiving! We don't have the equivalent of "state" fairs...I can't imagine a "provincial" fair. Hehe...our county fairs are the same as your state fairs, though...I've seen then on TV.

I have very wide reading taste--I like reading non-fiction and my favorite subjects are theoretical physics and psychology (I lump weight loss into this and marriage advice) but I also like true crime and the odd biography. I just read Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain and I LOVED it!

Today I'm going to visit my niece for her birthday. We're having dinner there.

Breakfast:
3 egg omellette w/onions, cheese and tomato
1 cup decaf coffee

Lunch:
1 Ryvita cracker with brie
1 bottle sparkling water

Dinner:
Don't know yet!

Back to work and back to school! I don't have kids but this day always makes me feel sad...weird! I guess it's the whole "end of summer" feeling that gets me.

Birthday party was nice yesterday--I ate a couple of chicken kabobs and a big spinach salad.

Today is back to the ol' grind....

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
2 cups of decaf coffee

Lunch:
Pot roast w/onions
Peanuts in the shell
I diet soda

Dinner:
Filet of trout

ARGH--I weighed in this morning at 298.7! WHAT THE HECK?

This is my wake up call--no more cheats. YIKES. Gary Taubes is right--this has NOTHING to do with calories and everything to do with the way a person's body stores sugar. Good gawd...I didn't do all this work to start gaining it all back before my first anniversary!!!

TIME TO RECHARGE MY RIGHTEOUS ANGER!

No more peaches, no more "compromising" with onion rings and certainly no more deep fried candy bars. What the heck was I thinking????

I'm not even posting what I ate today...what's the point? I always eat the same things...except when I make these poor decisions.

NO MORE POOR FOOD CHOICES! WHO'S WITH ME?

I feel more like myself today.

I have so much garbage to sift through at work. If there's ONE thing I hate about my job, it's fixing the errors that careless co-workers make. What steams me more than anything is that they don't care.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf coffee

Lunch:
Roast beef
Diet Soda

So, I broke my law of not weighing in after weigh-in day and I was annoyed to find that I've gained another pound. I know this can't be possible, so I'm just going to ride it out.

My plan is to do a meat and egg fast beginning Monday in order to get back on track. That'll get my body back into deep ketosis and flush out whatever toxins I've introduced into my system (CARBS!)

I can't finish the year on an upward trend--that's just wrong.

On a frustrating note--my husband's application for short term disability was denied. He isn't ready to go back to work so I have NO IDEA what we're going to do now.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf coffee

LUnch:
Roast beef w/onions
1 diet soda

DInner:
Flattened chicken

Day 316

So, I'm going back to basics, starting Monday. This morning, I ate some low carb yogurt with a small peach (last of the season) and I had Japanese food with my parents for dinner. I ate all legal at the restaurant, but I'm really preparing myself mentally for my "back to Kamikaze Atkin's" on Monday.

I'm really proud of myself for not binging this past (almost) year. If all the problems that have happened in 2013 had happened in the past, I probably would have added another 40 lbs to that 355 lbs that I weighed in at last October.

My sister is going to get married in August, so I'm hoping that a year from now, I can go to that wedding having lost more than 100 lbs.

Here's to a fab weekend, all!

I must have PMS because I'm snacking like crazy.

Today I ate:

5 strips of bacon
1 handfull of cashews
2 Ryvita crackers with almond butter
2 chicken breasts
Several bottles of sparkling water

I don't know what's gotten into me.

Tomorrow I start back to basics. Wish me luck.

Today is official "Back on Track" day...which is my fancy way of saying "back to induction".....

I'm home from work because I have to see the doctor with my husband, so I'm making my roast for the week this morning. I'm making it with shallots as I did in the beginning and I'm not going to eat them.

I'm not going to eat any dark chocolate (I'm already off that), no fruit, no nuts and no more Ryvita.

We'll see how successful my "end of the run" experiment is!

Breakfast:
2 eggs
1 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Cured meats
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Fish

Hi there, happy Monday! Are you eating any leafy veggies such as spinach, lettuce or other nearly zero calorie fillers? I find green leafy veggies really help. Can you appeal the denied request for short term disability? I sure hope so. Good luck!

I plan to eat veggies on the weekends, although I did have couple of slices of tomato with my fish yesterday.

We are appealing the decision on the STD. It seems like the smartest way to go. The only issue is that he won't be paid while he's appealing....blah.

I weighed in this morning at 295. Evidently, my carb counts were too high. Cutting back made an almost immediate difference. Hopefully, I'll break through my lowest weight next week!

OH--I thought I'd add that the skate fish I ate last night was fabulous! It's really cheap and really good!

Today's menu is as follows:

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
2 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Roast beef
1 sparkling water

Dinner:
Grilled chicken breasts
1 diet soda

Day 321

I broke the rule again and weighed myself this morning: 292.2!!!! All time low for this year!

I hope it sticks so I can change my stats next week!

My gosh, it's so great to know I'm FINALLY under 300lbs. I know that I look and feel great at about 230, so if I stick to it, I could be there by this time next year. According to the gym I used to go to, I shouldn't be less than 190lbs because I have a lot of muscle mass. (I hope this is true and it might be---people often tell me I don't LOOK as heavy as I actually am).

Anyways---despite all the baloney in my personal life with my hubby, I'm a happy camper!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
2 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Roast Beef
Sparkling water

Dinner:
Filet of trout
Caprese Salad (going to limit this to 3 slices of tomato)
1 Diet soda
