Day 266

Hi Mina and Jessica! Thanks for taking the time to post-I really appreciate it! Keep up the great work because you inspire me.

Today I went shopping in the US. I always buy my clothes in the US because the selection of plus sizes is much better.

Here's my good news--last time I shopped in June 2012, I was into a 30/32 at Avenue. Today I bought 22/24 capri pants!

I also went to David's Bridal for an evening gown (my cousin is getting married in August) I got a great deal AND it was a size 26 and too big! I have to take in the bodice 1 inch on each side.

Today I ate:
1 philly cheese steak omelette (Denny's)
2 zucchini boats (tomato, pepperoni and mozzarella)

I have a migraine now and there are tornado warnings. Forgive me for the typing errors--I'm using my phone to update.

Day 267

I'm about to read my newspaper and eat breakfast so I thought I'd proactively update my blog.

Not much to report for today, since I just woke up.

I WILL be eating some farm-fresh eggs and bacon as soon as I get downstairs--I'm actually craving a nice home-cooked breakfast this morning. I love the novelty of going to Denny's when we cross the border (it always seems better in the US) but I get tired of all that overly salty food after a while.

We had a BIG thunderstorm complete with tornado warnings all last night (until midnight). It was pretty scary. I had to take some pretty strong meds to deal with my migraine so I was half out of it.

Have a great low carb day, everyone!

Day 268

You said it, Jessica! I LOVE the idea of not having to wear the BIGGEST size that a certain store carries! BLISS!

Tomorrow we embark on a four day long road trip to the Canadian north. We're going so far north that some of these places don't have road access past October because the weather is too bad.

In total, we're staying at 4 different "hotels". I put it in quotations because only ONE is actually a hotel. The other three are a mixture of cabins, inns and just plain podunk places. LOL...I'm not an adventure girl. My idea of a vacation is a really swank hotel. It's my anniversary to Tuesday and THIS is our special anniversary trip. LOL...it's going to be interesting. (My husband has never been to the north, so this was really for his benefit...)

I'm not sure how my diet is going to fare, but as usual, I will do my best with the options I'm given. (I already have purchased some dried sausages for the trip).

Today I ate:
3 fried eggs
4 strips bacon
2 cups of decaf

...and I have no idea what we're eating for the rest of the day!

Greetings from Tobermory!

Today I ate:
3 fried eggs
1 dried pork sausage
1 cup decaf coffee
1 whitefish filet
1 caesar salad
1 plate of fried calamari

I went on a 2 hour boat tour in the sun. I'm red.

Google "flowerpot island" to see a bit of what I saw today!

Day 270

Today is my 8th wedding anniversary!

As I type this I am on a ferry from Tobermory to Manitoulin Island.

Things I've learned:
Small towns in the middle of nowhere have crappy food
People in small podunk towns are friendly.
I get seasick (10 years ago, I thought it was a fluke)

Things I've eaten today:
1 dried sausage
1 cup decaf
1 cup tea

No clue whats happening after this.

First off, Jossy--Manitoulin is a beautiful place! Reminds me of where I lived before I was married.

is starting.

Today I ate:

1 decaf coffee
1 dried sausage

On the way home from a pretty nice vacation where we explored Northern Ontario. It was fun experiencing my own province with someone who is seeing it for the first time.

Right now we're eating lunch and then visiting a Catholic Shrine.

Today I ate:
4 squares Lindt dark chocolate (continental breakfast was all carbs)
10 chicken wings

Today is our annual family picnic. I'm bringing two spaghetti squash dishes: one is ricotta spinach and the the other is bacon pesto. Hope they turn out well.

There will be a lot of low carb options there today so I'm not worried, but tomorrow I'm back to work, so I'm not sure what is awaiting me when I return.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Day 276

Back at work! Holidays are officially over!

I'm glad to be back at the old grind--I'm worried about what is going to happen when everyone else begins rolling in and I get the "scoop" on what happened while I was off. I'm sure it'll be dramatic.

The picnic went well yesterday, but I was really stressed out due to something that happened with my Dad and I found myself eating burger WITH a bun. I ate about 1/4 and thought "what the heck am I doing???" I gave the rest of the bun to the dog. Here's the kicker: I'm pretty sure that's ALL I ate yesterday. Waking up, preparing everything, being stressed and pulled in 100 different directions just put me in a position where I only ate that hamburger. Weird. We got home at 9.30 and were in bed by 10.

SO, back to my regular menus:

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf with 5% cream

Lunch:
A slice of ricotta spinach spaghetti squash
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Pesto spaghetti squash (hey, I didn't eat any at the picnic, so I brought the leftovers home!)

Hi Abby and This time!

Abby--I find my recipes online but a lot of them I make up myself! I like creating new dishes.

Spaghetti squash isn't a spaghetti substitute for me. It's just another interesting vegetable.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf coffee

Lunch:
Slice of ricotta spinach spaghetti squash
1 oz fruilano cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
2 knackwurst sausage on the BBQ

Weigh in day!

Well, I haven't quite reached the number in my stats, but I'm CLOSE. I weighed in at 298.2 this morning, so I'm on my way! This is in light of the fact that I ate Indian food during my holidays and I was forced to make some not-so-good choices.

I'm still ridiculously busy at work--thank goodness it's a long weekend this week!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf coffee

Lunch:
1 slice spaghetti squash, ricotta, spinach casserole
1 oz friulano cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
2 burger patties
1 diet soda

Still busy at work today! Argh! Last night I worked until almost 9 and I still didn't get everything done as I should have.

The weekend can't come soon enough!

Breakfast:

Another cup of decaf

Lunch:
Spaghetti Squash casserole
1 oz cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:

Day 280

Good Friday to everyone!

IT's been a busy but very productive week. Last evening, I brought my dress to be altered for the wedding I'm attending on August 17th. I also have officially cleared up the backlog that was created by me taking two weeks off from work. It seems like a holy crapstorm hit here and all the paperwork and issues ended up on MY desk!

What I find absolutely astounding is that after a whole week of evenings, I still haven't watched the two shows I taped last Sunday (I watch Sister Wives and Breaking Amish--don't judge me! ) Hopefully, tonight will be my lucky night and I'll be able to fit them in (even if I have to stay up late).

Oh--interesting that the dress I bought was a 24, but the seamstress took it in 2 inches on the sides of the bust and another inch on the straps. Last year at this time, I would have been searching for the biggest 28-30 they had in stock and hoping that they could let it out a bit.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 decaf coffee
1 Starbucks Cappuccino made with half and half (hey, it's Friday of a long weekend!)

Lunch:
Still eating that ricotta, spaghetti squash casserole, but it's finished today.
1 oz cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Chicken breast on the BBQ

Day 282 & 283

Yesterday I had friends over for dinner and I was so busy preparing, I forgot to blog for the day. Nice thing is, I barely ate.

Today is a holiday but I woke up early to do some work on my side jobs. I haven't eaten yet but I I've had a couple cups of coffee.

I feel a whopper of a headache coming on. Blah.

Another decaf at work

Lunch:
Roast beef made in my crockpot with onions

Weigh in day!

Well, I'm back to my stats weight--296.8. I'm very happy because that tells me that my body has decided to start losing again. I think I was stalled due to all the hormones that I had during my IVF treatments.

All is well.

My husband and I are trying to save a bit of money by not eating dinner out on the weekend. This past weekend was the first one where we ate in all weekend and I think that made the difference. There's something very bad about restaurant food. Even the first time I was successful on low carb, I used to notice that my weight loss was very sluggish after if I'd spent a lot of time eating out.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf
1 cup tea

Lunch:
Beef pot roast
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Knackwurst with fried onions

Day 286

I'm beginning to feel like my blogging is serving another purpose, aside from weight loss. I'm really happy that I've been so successful with my weight loss. In truth, this is the most successful I've been with my weight loss in 12 years. The last time I lost this much, I was over the moon.

Here's the problem--my husband is in a really bad place right now. Mentally, he's overworked, stressed, crying all the time and unable to take time off to see the doctor. We saw the doctor while we were on holidays, but for some reason, when my husband isn't immersed in his bad work situation, he tends to not show how negatively it's affecting him.

This morning he worked from home, but first he cried for two hours and told me how weak and inadequate he felt. I'm a pretty good cheerleader, so I told him that he wasn't inadequate or weak and that his mind was focusing on these issues because he's overworked and stressed. Unfortunately, when I left, it wasn't much better than when it started. I had to call our doctor on the way to work, but I don't see much of a light at the end of the tunnel. My husband works much too early and too late to see a psychologist during weekdays. If he doesn't go to work and meet his deadlines, he'll be fired. He has the option of taking a 17 week leave of absence, but that makes him feel even MORE in adequate and weak.

I'm at my wits end because my husband is intensely private. This means I can't share this information with family or friends. I have told my family (I had to tell SOMEONE, I was worried for him) and my husband was really upset that I did. I don't want to make this worse so I can't tell anyone else.

*SIGH*

I feel like I've been backed into a corner. I come to work to forget his issues and although I love him, I lived almost 35 years with a mother who has mental illness and it broke ME down mentally. I don't want the same thing to happen with my husband.

I'm coasting right now....at my wit's end, really.

My food intake doesn't seem to matter.....I'm sticking to my plan, although I don't have much appetite.

I was so proud of myself for having dealt with my IVF failure so well, but I realized this morning that I just immersed myself into my husband's issue, without really giving my own issues any thought. It's difficult to turn to a husband for support when you know that he's suffering far more than you are.

I'm afraid that I won't be able to keep up my strong facade much longer.
