Day 205

I'm home sick from work today. Not exactly home sick because I went in this morning to do the payroll (lest my co-workers hate me). I'm having wicked stomach issues....everything I eat goes right through me. I'm not looking forward to eating lunch....

I weighed myself this morning and I'm at 308.6. *SIGH*

I think I'm retaining water because I'm ovulating AND it's warm outside...being sick isn't helping. Although I can't keep my food IN, I feel bloated.

Blah.

I'm going to make myself a soup for lunch.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Some kind of soup

Dinner:
Fish

Day 206

I'm feeling a bit better today after a mega dose of Immodium so I would be able to come into work today. So far, so good....I brought some scrambled eggs into work for breakfast, so I didn't have to eat and then drive in. I ate them at 8.30 and so far, no mad streaks to the bathroom, so that's good

I weighed myself this morning and I'm down about 4oz. LOL...I think I'm sick and my body is just holding onto fluid or something. I'm not going to sweat this.

I was thinking of either linking or migrating my old blog posts over here. I wrote them in 2009 and although some are inspiring, most are pitiful because I actually talk about eating pounds of M&Ms.....

I should do that....hmmm

Breakfast:
2 eggs, scrambled
1 decaf coffee
1 decaf coffee

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
3 mozzarella balls
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 veal chop

Day 207

Hi Abby! It's great to see you again...things get lonely around here!

I'm drinking Chamomile tea right now because my tummy still hurts. The diarrhea is easing up, though.

On Saturday, I'm having a Mother's Day dinner for my mom and my siblings. We're going to have bbq steak (sirloin, yum), a greek salad and a caponata. If I have time, I'm going to make meringue nests and fill them with berries and whipped cream.

It's going to be a busy weekend, I know it!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 decaf coffee
1 chamomile tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
3 mozzerella cheese balls
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 filet of trout

Today I'm having dinner at my house for Mother's Day.

This is a busy day and right now Hubby and I are having breakfast. Afterwards, we're going home to clean the house and prepare the mise en place for dinner.

Day 209

My dinner went well. The usual baloney of my SIL not showing up, but what the hell....I was expecting that.

The menu was low carb, except for some garlic bread that I made.

To start, we had a plate of Manchego cheese, buffalo mozzerella and dried sausage (I included crackers for the carbies).

Main was

Sirloin Steak BBQ'd
Caponata (turned out great)
Greek salad
Garlic bread

Dessert was:
Strawberries and blueberries with a yocheese topping

Everyone was pleased, so that's good.

Today is a resting day, so again--no clue what I'm making to eat.

Quick edit to say that I weighed myself yesterday and I had lost 2 lbs....I'm not calling it in my stats until Wednesday!

Day 210

Not much to say about today. Had to wake up at 5.00 am to get to the city by 7.00 am to have a semen analysis for my husband. Lucky for him, we were steps from his office so he got to work early. Unfortunately, due to traffic, I was 20 minutes late for work. Not a huge deal--the boss understood.

Yesterday my hubby and I planted some seeds and discussed his plans for the future. He hates his job and he is unable to find another job at the moment. He has a couple of the horizon, but they're really dragging their behinds. Lots for me to think about it.

I'm trying to stay optimistic.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 chai tea

Lunch:
Chicken salad
leftover snap peas
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Leftover steak

Wishing your husband luck with the job and with the count for his little swimmers. You're doing great! The mother's day menu sounds delicious. You're going to be in the 200s in no time!

Day 211

Thanks, Abby! We haven't heard anything from the clinic about my husband's swimmers. He also has to have his testosterone checked this week. He's having so much trouble at work, that I have to make my entry short today because I need to prepare something for him.

Stress is getting to me lately. Don't get me wrong--still haven't binged. In fact, I've probably cut back on a lot of my eating. For some reason, yesterday I gained 6 lbs out of the blue. I'm down 3lbs this morning, but after (god, 7 months?) I'm only down 47lbs. SAD.

I'm thinking the gain is due to cortisol. I'm REALLY feeling terrible and there's no one I can talk to about it. Tried my parents--that's pretty much a lost cause. They don't understand how my husband's issues affect me.

Anyways......

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Egg salad (2 eggs)
3 small slices of Manchego cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Leftover something or other (stirfry)

My God, 47lbs is HUGE. Let's round out to 50 because I bet you're due for a big whoosh soon and you'll be past 50. That's an incredible accomplishment! Good luck today! Keep at it but go easy on yourself. Sorry you're not feeling so well. Just think... In another 7 months, that will be 100!!!!

Day 212

Thanks Abby and Bacon Bit!

I feel a bit better today because I woke up at a new board low--306.6. I'm as low as I was in 2009, which is a good thing.

There's so much negativity when a person eats poorly. I remember last year, going out for lunch everyday and bringing back homemade pierogies from the market across the street or a big sandwich from the panini shop and a woman I work with would aways say things like "you're going to gain 100 MORE lbs if you keep eating like that". I didn't argue--she was right.

When I finally decided to change my lifestyle (212 days ago--) I felt I was making a positive change and I also thought I would get away from the negative commentary about my food choices. WELL, even though this co-worker has noticed my almost 50lb weight loss, she STILL comments that I shouldn't drink diet coke (I shouldn't, I know ) and that I should drink water.

I think I've mentioned this before--she has high blood pressure and she eats processed food every, single day and hasn't been back to her doctor for meds.

Here's the kicker, I don't hound her about what she eats. It's HER choice. She knows that stuff is bad for her......but somehow, the same courtesy isn't extended to me. I just don't understand people.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
2 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Egg salad made w/3 eggs
1 oz scamortza cheese
2 small pepperettes
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Steak stir fry
Diet soda

Just pity her really. Anyone who can be so rude and inconsiderate deserves your pity. If you feel comfortable enough, tell her that you wish to keep diet & food off limits in terms of conversation …but I understand how that can create a tense environment at work so let it roll off your back if you're not up to telling her that. I'm happy you had some weight drop. YAY!

Busy day at work...leading up to a long weekend (Victoria Day in Canada)....

Thanks, Abby...you're right....there's not much I can do about others commenting on my food choices. She's a nice person is most aspects, but sometimes the office can be a dicey place. LOL

Tonight I'm taking my husband for a blood test and we may have dinner out (I forgot to defrost something for dinner).

I guess there's no point in recording my menu--it's the same as every other day, except I might be having something different for dinner tonight.

Day 217

Happy Victoria Day to my fellow Canadians!

Today hubby and I were up bright and early at 7.00 am to go the the garden centre and pick up our bedding plants. By 9.30 am, I had already started preparing my flowerbed and by 2.00 pm, all the plants were in the ground. I planted Sunshine Impatiens (Red), Petunias (black), Zinnias (Red), Vinca (red) and a whole load of red, orange and yellow Marigolds (not the double ones, the single flower)....that was a LOT of work. After planting, I stained my Muskoka chair (this time, I did the top part). I think sometime this week I'm going to sand the drips and do the final coat.

Next Saturday, I'm going to my parent's house to plant all their annuals. Busy, busy, busy!

Breakfast:
2 sausage and egg McMuffins (no muffins)

Lunch:
Nothing

Dinner:
Trout filet

Back to work tomorrow!

Day 218

I know I have PMS, so I'm probably a bit more irritable than usual, but this woman in my office is really driving me crazy (and it's only 8.30 am).

I've started to wear clothes that she's never seen before (because I "grew" out of them before she started), so every time she comes into work and sees me in an outfit that she hasn't seen before, she uses this super high voice (like a big prissy) and says "oh, look at YOU". It's not her usual way of talking, it's pretty apparent that she's being condescending (sarcastic?) ...I don't know, but it doesn't sound "right".

If someone is dressed nicely, I say "you look great" or "is that a new outfit, I love it".....her fake "look at you" is really annoying. It's like she's attempting to make a spectacle of me. For the life of me, I can't understand why she just can't say, "you look good"...but whatever....

Breakfast:
2 eggs, boiled
1 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Egg salad w/2 eggs (1 tbsp mayo and 1 tsp dijon mustard)
4 mini boconcini cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Spaghetti Squash w/bacon
1 diet soda

I'm sorry your office mate is such a jerk. You are absolutely right on her intentions... if it was a genuine complement, you would have felt it. But don't let it take away from your amazing accomplishment of getting back into clothes you put away long ago. That's a victory right there. She's the one who has to live with her patronizing, flawed character.

Thanks, Abby....

Sometimes I really wish someone at work would notice my weight loss but no one does. When she is a jerk it really stings because she knows I'm losing..

She implemented a measurement thing last year when she was working out. As long as I didn't lose any inches all was fine and she'd gloat about losing weight. Now that I've lost inches and she's gained, she never mentions taking measurements and weight loss is never mentioned. ....

Day 219

Great news! I'm down! Weight was 304 this morning!

Here's the second part of my good news: Today is day one of my period which means tomorrow I am officially beginning my IVF journey. I'm taking this step by step, as I may not have enough eggs to go through with the procedure.

We shall see....I just will need support to keep on track and NOT eat off plan for ANY REASON. I know these meds are going to put a lot of fluid weight on me, but I will stay the course.

Day 219 of my weight loss journey; Day 1 of my journey to be a mother.

Breakfast:
2 eggs boiled
1 decaf coffee
1 Earl Grey Tea

Lunch:
8 oz (probably won't eat it all) Guacamole
3 Wasa crackers (7 Carbs, net)
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 Trout filet

That's excellent news! 51 Pounds! Truly amazing! Sending good thoughts regarding the IVF! They are going to give you powerful hormones so please don't be discouraged if there's a bit of gain-- like you said, its water. Also, my good friend recently went through the process (she's having twins on the 29th of this month!) and she felt blue and had spells of moods that were uncharacteristic for her during IVF and early in her pregnancy when they continued to give her drugs to help the baby take hold. If you feel that way, remember it's the drugs and it will pass. Have you started prenatal vitamins?

Day 220

Thanks, Abby!

I have been taking prenatal vitamins plus folid acid for four years. This isn't my first kick at the can. I got pregnant the "regular" way in March 2010, but it was ectopic. I tried for another 6 months after that, then tried two rounds of IUI with hormones. I know that my dosage is much higher for IVF (300!!!!) so I'm expecting some weight gain, some moodiness, some rage...whatever. I'll get through.

I found out today that my husband has low testosterone. The fertility doctor prescribed him testosterone and some other drugs. Interesting to see how these drugs may help him....

..and so the expenses begin. I doled out $1200 for meds today (I SURE HOPE our insurance will cover them this time) and I'm looking at at least another $5500 if all goes well....

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 decaf coffee

Lunch:
Egg Salad made with 2 eggs
1 oz cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Filet of trout
Diet soda

We're going to my mother's for dinner tomorrow night and I'm planting her flowers when I get there. Sunday morning, my husband is having target practice with some friends of his.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 decaf coffee
Another decaf (at work)

Lunch:
Egg salad w/2 eggs
1 oz cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
chicken wings (!!)
(300 units of my hormones.....praying they won't make me balloon)

Busy, busy Saturday!

I'm in the middle of cleaning the house--when I'm done, I'm off to my mother's house to plant her annuals.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Day 224

Yesterday turned out a bit different than what I'd planned. I did water my houseplants, then I trimmed my hedge and my husband left for his target practice. Since his friends arrived late, he didn't come home until 5.00 pm, so I ended up having brunch with my parents and then my Dad helped me fix the cracks in my chair (wood filler, who would have known??) I'm still not finished, but I WILL paint it for the last time this week AND now I want to put some whimsical designs (or our names) at the top of the chairs.

Today I'm feeling ovulation twinges (probably because I'm growing 7 eggs in there). Tonight is my last injection and I'm going to be monitored again tomorrow morning. Oh joy!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 cup decaf
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
Egg salad (2 eggs, 2 oz diced ham, spring onions)
5 Gherkins
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Leftover chicken wings
Roasted veggies

Day 225

Today is my cycle day 7 so I had to wake up at 5.00 am to get to the clinic on time. I have 8 follicles and 4 really nice size eggs right now

On the car ride back to work, I reflected on my mindset this time. I'm really taking this process one step at a time. It looks like we're going to move forward with the retrieval which is one more step toward the goal. After retrieval, I'll wait for implantation and after implantation, it's a waiting game to see if the eggs are viable (ie: no miscarriage).

So, what if this process fails? It's my last try. If that happens, my plan is to continue working on my weight and I'll live my life the way I have to this point--I'm going to travel, have fun and just enjoy myself. I did want a child, but if it doesn't happen, I'm satisfied that I've done everything possible to make it happen. I'm going to the best fertility doctor in Canada. Other than looking into traveling to the US or Europe for the procedure, I can't really do better than what I'm doing. I've made peace with the outcome, whether it's positive or negative.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs
1 decaf coffee
1 black tea

Lunch:
Egg salad (2 eggs, 2 oz ham, spring onions)
1 diet soda
1 oz cheese

Dinner:
Chicken break on the grill
Tzaziki
diet soda
