Look at you- getting the job done!
Day two- do just what you did on day one. You've already proven you can do it. |

Awesome!
You made it through Day 1. Drink as much as you can; it'll help the swelling. (Prop your feet up, too!) Keep it nice and high-fat today. Cream cheese on anything that'll take it. Lots of butter, coconut oil, etc. That, and some nice chicken broth... Fight that hunger, and help fight the "induction flu". You can do this! |

Well done - you sound very motivated. One thing that might also help encourage you is to create a chart, estimating reasonable how much you can lose each week. So, if you're targeting #3 per week until you lose your 70#, you can see week to week what you'd weigh. It's also a good way of noting upcoming holidays, etc. so you can think about how you'll address them.
Not wishing luck since it's hard work, but wishing you much success. |

I can identify with virtually everything you've written.
For me, it was 1999 when I first lost significant weight on low carb. 13 years later, up and down, back to virtually where I started. I traveled for many years for business. You're right, it sucks when you don't really fit on a plane seat (imagine 20+ hours each way, going to/from Australia and China!). Mostly, though, I wanted to respond about the "binges". I could easily eat an entire box of cereal with extra sugar in less than a day, followed by a box of malted milk balls (or some other crazy thing). I recently read "Brain over Binge". It was an eye-opener for me. I would strongly recommend that anyone struggling with binge eating read this book. In combination with the techniques in the book, for me, low-carb has really helped with the binges. I've been binge-free for over 3 weeks now. Every day is a gift. Fran |

Happy Saturday, Lramirez and everyone else!
So far so good! Woke up, did some reading, drank a couple of cups of decaf and had a nice plate of eggs and bacon. Honestly, this wasn't difficult. I'll eat eggs again for dinner and then I'll have to decide what I want to eat from Sunday, onward. Phurst_gal: Quote:
In my mind, I think "at least cereal is considered a real food to most people". I'd pick up pounds of candy and finish it in a day. If I purchased a four pack of chocolate bars, I'd eat them inside of 8 hours. I could go on and on.... The book you recommended sounds great. I'll try it. |

I just wanna say, bingers like us do not binge because we are crazy. We binge because all that fat/sugar/salt hits areas in our brain that calms us. Just like heroin. I mean- it really works! At least for a short while. (Unfortunately it has the side effect of making us feel bloated and uncomfortable and overweight.) And if we have been "using" fat/sugar/salt for a while we need a certain amount just to feel comfortable. Just like heroin. So up until now you have been doing what you needed to do to get through the day. That's what we all do. Until we decide to try something else. You are trying something else now. And so far so good! Back a few years ago when the concept of sugar addition was just coming up. I finally understood what made me eat spoonfuls of sugar straight out of the sugarbowl as a child. I remember just feeling like I'd go crazy if I couldn't have candy when I was about 10. I'm so glad I'm among people who understand.... |

Day Three---done!!!
We went shopping today and I treated myself to a nail polish, a fresh sugar soap from Sephora and a container of Crabtree and Evelyn dusting powder. Hurray for non-food rewards! |

I loved reading through this thread! WTG on your 3rd day! That's amazing! Get this first week over and out of that carb fog and once you feel that energy, remind yourself how good it feels! That's what I have to do. I don't ever want to feel that sluggish and tired again! Keep rocking it!!

DAY FIVE! I'm in ketosis. The smell of my crock pot roast cooking last night made me feel so nauseous that I had to open my bedroom window! (That's a good thing!) ![]() |
