Interesting story about work:

I work with a woman who just found out she has very high blood pressure. She's very short (under 5') and weighs 140lbs. Her doctor told her to cut out processed food, fast food and lower her weight. Yesterday, she came into my office and she was eating a tart from the breakroom. She was lamenting that it was "OK" for her because *I* (referring to me) am much fatter than she is and she can "afford" to eat a tart.

I had just been to the doctor and my blood pressure is excellent. I wanted to tell her that I'm losing weight and her blood pressure is very dangerous. It's probably JUST AS IMPORTANT for her to lose weight.

Ah, well...what can you do?
She said that? In those words? Oh man I would have let her have it. What a rude thing to say! Why do some people think they can say whatever they want to overweight people.

Yes, maam! She did!

This woman asked me if I had a thyroid problem her first day on the job. Nothing that comes out of her mouth shocks me anymore.

To be honest, I don't get offended when people make remarks that amount to them being ignorant. I actually feel worried for this woman due to her sheer ignorance of the gravity of her OWN situation.

Day 129

What to say about today?

It's Thursday.
It's cold outside.
I have enough work to do.
My husband is anxious about being at work this morning *sigh*

I'm glad I have control of my eating or I couldn't imagine the kind of food therapy I'd be involved in right now. I know I shouldn't take on his issues, but I just don't know what's happening at his job and it really scares me.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 cup decaf with 5% cream
1 cup of black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1 oz medium cheddar
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 chicken breast with salsa, cheese and bacon
1 diet soda

Day 130

The last day of a stressful week is finally here. I have much to do here at work, but I'm still pretty happy that I'll have two days to myself after 5.00 pm. (Well, 2 days to myself that include cleaning the house, grocery shopping and other household work, but I don't care).

I've been eating 3 squares of Lindt 85% chocolate as a snack after dinner. It's very rich and satisfying and really curbs my cravings. 3 squares are 7 carbs, if I recall correctly. For some reason, I overeat vegetables, but I manage to see chocolate as something to be careful about, so I can splurge on my 7 carbs and enjoy it. Go figure.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with sea salt
1 cup decaf with 5% cream
1 cup of black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1 oz medium cheddar cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 trout filet
1 diet soda

Snack:
Yummy Lindt chocolate (3 squares)

Day 133

Good morning, all!

I had a good weekend, despite having to do a bunch of paperwork (resumes and covering letters for my husband, preparing year end documents for a side project and completing my husband's Canadian citizenship application). Although yesterday morning started off lazy, it actually ended with a lot of work....hehe

My hubby and I ended up going to a German restaurant for dinner last night. Since he is under his target weight, he decided to have a bit more carbs than I did (he had Schnitzel) but I went with a smoked German sausage, boiled cauliflower/brocolli and a nice portion of my favorite--SAUERKRAUT!!!! YUM!

I'm hoping beyond hope that my new low weight sticks on Wednesday ()...

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 cup decaf with %5 cream
1 cup of black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1 oz mild cheddar
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 chicken breast with cheddar, bacon and salsa
1 diet soda

Day 134

Last night was weird! I was SO HUNGRY!

After dinner, I had my three squares of Equadorian chocolate, then I thought I wanted some peanut butter. I decided against the PB because it tends to kick me out of ketosis. Instead I ate a cured sausage which caused my hands to swell.

That's all I ate, but I feel like I ate too much or something. I was REALLY hungry.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 cup decaf
1 cup of black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1 oz mild cheddar
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 trout filet (I was craving this for dinner LAST night!)
1 diet soda

Day 135

Blah, I have PMS. I feel edgy and miserable BUT, I did lose weight. I'm not as low as my Sunday (?) reading was but I attribute that to possible water retention. My feet were swollen yesterday, so I know I'm retaining more water than usual.

I was hungry ALL DAY yesterday! Thankfully we went to bed early last night so I couldn't get into the peanut butter, but I was certainly thinking about it! Despite going to bed early, I didn't sleep well. I was even edgy in my sleep and the cat being near me was really annoying the heck out of me.

Officially 35lbs lost on this day 13!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 cup decaf coffee w/ 5% cream
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1 oz mild cheddar cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 trout filet (major craving for this!)
1 diet soda

Day 136

It's Thursday and I'm feeling pretty good.

I weighed myself this morning because yesterday's reading was higher than I expected AND I had three very impressive "sessions" after arriving at work yesterday. Well, lo and behold, my weight was 317.6 today! Not too shabby when I have PMS!

Let's see if this new low sticks for next Wednesday....

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 cup decaf with 5% cream
1 cup decaf with 5% cream (at work)

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1 oz mild cheddar cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 chicken breast with cheese, bacon and salsa
1 diet soda

Day 137

Well, I ended yesterday with a very bad migraine. Went to the pharmacy and the pharmacist wouldn't dispense my meds because I filled a perscription less than 6 months ago. *big sigh*....I asked them to give me 2 pills--that's all I needed to calm my migraine, but NO, because of new rules/regulations/guidelines...I'm viewed as a drug addict if I don't wait the 6 months.

Canadian health system=a bunch of morons.

Breakfast:
2 eggs boiled w/kosher salt
1 decaf coffee w/ 5% cream
1 decaf coffee w/cream

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1 ounce mild cheddar
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 chicken breast with bacon, salsa and cheese
1 diet soda

Adjunct to my "busy weekend" post.

We didn't end up eating dinner so the chicken wings will be tomorrow's dinner. Lunch was late and there's no way we're going to be hungry enough to eat dinner now.

I had a bit of an epiphany on the way home from my parent's place today.

I was thinking about tomorrow and wondering what I should prepare for my lunches at work this coming week. Suddenly, my subconscious was telling me that I should pack a bigger lunch because I usually hungry around 11.30 am. The logical side of my mind jumped in and rationalized that it's NORMAL to be hungry around lunchtime and I'm ALWAYS full immediately after lunch. In fact, I'm usually not really "hungry" again until at least 6.00 or 7.00 pm.

Why did my brain try to justify a bigger lunch? I remember having this happen back when I first went on low carb 12 years ago. I would pack lunches that were HUGE---a big tub of veggies, a piece of cheese, a couple of hard boiled eggs "in case I'm hungry". I've ALWAYS had this FEAR of being hungry and I don't know why. After almost 5 months of no bingeing and being on low carb religiously, SUDDENLY, this ridiculous fear of hunger is rearing it's ugly head.

I might be able to justify this fear if I was ever starved or was from a family that regularly went without food, but exactly the opposite is true! My mom was definitely a "feeder". She has tons of terrible faults as a Mom, but she was VERY responsible when it came to basic human needs. We always had food readily available at home. No one EVER went hungry. We were never denied anything, except things that were bad for us (mostly sweets--my mom never packed cookies or sweets in my lunch).

When I binge, it stems from this "not enough food" mentality. During my binges, I'll stop off at a supermarket before work and buy cookies, candy and baked goods until I feel I have "enough" to feed my cravings for the day. I can ingest 3000 calories and still feel as if I haven't had enough. I feel panicky and sometimes, I've even have LEFT the office to buy junk. I'm the person who says "HEY, I'm going to Starbucks, who's in?"....so I can buy myself something sweet to hold me over.

WHY, WHY, WHY does my brain do this to me?

One thing is for certain....I have not binged, I have not eaten off plan and I do not desire to do either.

Hopefully, if someone is reading my blog, he/she can comment with thoughts. Come to think of it...maybe this should be its own thread on the main board....

Day 140

I feel so good today.

I had such a lazy weekend, I thought I wouldn't get anything done, but last night I cleaned the house (thankfully) watered my plants and even prepared all my lunches for the week.

I thought I wasn't going to eat dinner because lunch was filling (we shared a fajita without the wrap) but I ended up saving the chicken wings for tonight and I ate some cold chicken leftovers that I found in the fridge. They actually hit the spot! I'd forgotten how much I enjoy cold chicken.

So, good weekend overall.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
2 cup decaf with 5% cream
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
2 oz fruilano cheese (my cheddar counts have probably been closer to 2 oz as well--I just decided to measure today)
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 lb homemade chicken wings
1 diet soda

Hi Gabby!

I'm still at it and although I haven't updated my stats, I'm looking at 38 lbs lost right now. I'm the lightest I've been in 3 years!

In May, I'm going to post before and after type shots of myself. I hope there's a difference!

Thanks for coming by to check on me!

Day 141

Yesterday I had a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound after work. It was scheduled along with a chest x-ray that my doctor ordered, but because I'm not on birth control and I haven't had my period this month, the chest x-ray was not done. I have to go back when my period starts (they won't do an x-ray if you're even suspected to be pregnant). I wonder what would have happened if I had a broken leg?

Today I'm wearing clothes that haven't fit me comfortably in about 3 years. Yesterday, I discovered that I am my lightest weight in 3 years. I had some paperwork in my desk from a diet group I attended and my weight three years ago was 328.5. Yay!

Breakfast:
2 eggs boiled with kosher salt
1 decaf with 5% cream
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
2 oz fruilano cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 veal shoulder chop
1 diet soda

Day 142

Today is weigh in day...problem is, my period started yesterday. I didn't want to weigh in because I was afraid of a colossal gain, but I was surprised to see a LOSS!!! Yay! I'm 318.6, down 2 lbs!

I have to admit that I am sad today. I know this is selfish and pretty miserable of me, but my sister in law just announced that she's pregnant and it makes me feel awful. I can't really tell anyone this because I know that everyone will say I'm jealous. I don't feel jealousy--I feel sad.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs w/kosher salt
1 cup decaf with 5% cream
1 cup decaf

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
2 oz friulano cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 trout filet
1 diet soda

Day 143

Ah, Thursday....not quite Friday, but darned close enough.

This morning I weighed myself (for shytes and giggles) and I saw another low-- (316lbs)....WOW. Just WOW. So proud.

Now, my friend invited us for dinner on Saturday night. She's making a beef tenderloin (perfect!) and I'm going to bring my yummy cheesecake. It's a good thing I copied the recipe here because I think I forgot to record it in my actual go-to recipe book.

I plugged my food into my "food tracker" yesterday and even when I enter my snacks of 85% dark Lindt chocolate, I'm still under 1500 calories a day and 20 carbs. Not too shabby. I hope I can keep this up.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 decaf coffee with 5% cream
1 decaf coffee

Lunch:
4 roasted chicken legs (I had to get rid of the extra two, so I'm splitting them over today and tomorrow)
1 oz friulano cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 lb chicken wings
1 diet soda

It's FRIDAY!!!

We have a lot planned for the weekend--dinner plans at my friend's place tomorrow and perhaps the "Cat Show" on Sunday.

I have a list of all the ingredients I need for my chocolate cheesecake so I'm going to put that together tonight.

Right now I'm wondering how hungry I'll be at 5.00 pm---I picked up the wrong lunch today. It's actually leftover wings from last night. LOL

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 cup decaf with 5% cream
1 cup decaf (at work)

Lunch:
10 leftover chicken wings
2 oz friulano cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 trout filet
1 diet soda

Day 147

It's going to be a busy week for me. My friend asked me to take care of her cats while she's on vacation until the 20th. That means I'll be stopping by her house every morning on my way to work to feed her cats and clean their litter box. It'll be particularly busy for me on Tuesday and Thursday because I also drop off my side projects to another company before I come to work.

It's Monday and already the drama has started in the office....oh joy....

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs w/kosher salt
1 cup decaf w/5% cream

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1.5 oz medium cheddar cheese
1 diet soda

Dinner:
Salmon filet
1 diet soda

Ive been lurking since you started. KUTGW! Your posts are inspiring. I stalled for about 2 months. I stopped taking many of the supplements I was taking and the scales started moving again. I hope to be under 300 by the end of the month I will continue to lurk and post occasionally.

Hi Eagle Eye!

Thanks so much for coming out of lurkdom to comment on my blog! I'm so glad that my rather boring posts can be an inspiration to others!

Please keep reading (and posting, when you have time) we can help each other get through the tough times.

Way to go on sticking through it through a 2 month stall. That hasn't happened to me yet, but I know it's on the horizon (from having done this so many times before)....

My personal goal is to be under 300 by June...not sure if I'll get there, but I'm definitely working on it!!!

Day 148

Very full day at work today.

Yesterday I received a very good raise (due in part to the promotion I was promised) so I'm feeling good today. Unfortunately, my hubby didn't sleep well last night so he was nervous, crabby and generally unenthusiastic about going to work this morning, so it brought me down a bit. I'm glad I'm at work where I can just de-stress for a while (de-stress, at work? Doesn't seem possible!)

Tomorrow is weigh in day!!!!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 decaf coffee with 5% cream
1 cup of black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1.5 oz medium cheddar
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 veal chop
1 diet soda

Day 149

Weigh in day--looks like I'm down another 2 lbs or so! I feel great about this!

I'm a little annoyed that it's been 5 months and I'm only down 39 lbs, but it's 39 lbs lighter than I was 5 months ago. That has to count for something!

I'm averaging about 6 lbs a month which isn't bad---I think it's easier to keep it off when it comes off slowly.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs with kosher salt
1 cup decaf
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1.5 oz med. cheddar
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 chicken breast rolled up w/ cheese and spinach
1 diet soda
1/2 c. string beans (maybe)

Day 150

I conducted an experiment this morning--I weighed myself on my analog scale. I thought it was broken, so I purchased a good digital scale online a year ago. As it turns out, my analog scale weighed me 2 lbs lower than I was yesterday. I jumped on my digital scale to check my "real" weight and lo and behold...I'm 2 lbs lighter than yesterday! I'm not calling it until next Wednesday, though!

At least now I know both of my scales are working properly.

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs w/kosher salt
1 cup decaf w/5% cream
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1.5 oz med. cheddar
(this might change--my mother might be coming out for lunch)

Dinner:
1 trout filet. YUMMO!
1 diet soda

Day 151

It's FRIDAY!

Nothing terribly exciting happening today except that my Husband's cousin in the US is having a baby! She's already gone into the hospital, so hopefully we'll have a new member of the family this weekend!

Earlier this week, I found a fertility clinic in Toronto that will do IVF on me, even at my present weight (the clinic I was at last year would not). I am so excited---anxiously waiting for my appointment in April (hopefully). I know I'm old, but I have to give it one more kick at the can!

Breakfast:
2 boiled eggs w/kosher salt
1 cup decaf with 5% cream
1 cup black tea

Lunch:
3 roasted chicken legs
1.5 oz medium cheddar
1 diet soda

Dinner:
1 veal chop
1 diet soda
