I'll blame it on... Hormones... Or something.
I've been eating nice and clean, so I'm sure I'll see a drop soon.

I'll have egg and sausage again today, not sure what tonight will bring at DBF's house. I'm planning on getting a salad on my way there as a means to prevent overindulgence of on-plan foods. Lack of planning has meant that I overeat on LC goodies every weekend - and I gain. That self-inflicted cycle has to stop right now.

Mini goals for this weekend:
Buy batteries for my kitchen scale
Weigh and measure everything I eat
No soda

I can do this. I will see results.

Monday morning... I've managed to maintain my pre-weekend weight
Pretty happy not to see a gain!

Today I will:
Drink a litre of water at the office
Track and measure every bite and every drop
Start exercising again, even if it's only for 15 minutes

Not in the mood for a lot of talk today - more action!

I had such a hungry day yesterday!
I ate bacon and eggs, lamb chop, cucumber, avocado and steak.
Still drinking too much coffee and too little water.

I have given it some thought and my goal for December will be to reach and maintain at 180 (what I should have reached in November, ahrg).

More water today!

I feel like I should celebrate - but I also feel that I should have reached this two weeks ago!

Mmmm I love the festive season.
I baked cinnamon rolls last night. The smell of yeast dough baking with butter, sugar and cinnamon was intoxicating. When they were golden brown and done, I drowned them in vanilla coffee glaze.
Before discovering my wheat intolerance, I would not have been able to resist falling face-first into a freshly baked batch with my mouth open.
My life is actually much better - and healthier - gluten free.

More baking tonight! Two more birthdays coming up. I love baking Always have. What I love even more, is the fact than I can enjoy and appreciate my baked goodies now without "needing" to eat them, or feeling deprived that I "can't have them.

Food yesteday: 1380 cals and 28.8 carbs
Hungry day again!
B: bacon, eggs, cheddar
L: steak, avocado
D: cauliflower pizza with bacon and edam
S: fat bomb, 4 coffees

Hello new decade!

This week I have been hungry all the time. Maybe I wasn't really hungry, but I felt hungry.

Granddad's mini birthday dinner tonight! He's turning 88 on Friday.
I have oxtail simmering away in the slow cooker with broth, spices and tomato paste. 10 hours on the low setting - it's going to be fall-of-the-bone tender and melty. Is melty even a word? Ha!
I also made one of his favourite sweet treats: glazed custard slices.

Yesterday I ate the following: 1614 cals, 17.5 carbs
B: coffee, eggs
L: lamb chop, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, emmental cheese
D: mussels and shrimp
S: fat bombs, 3 more coffees

Have a great Thursday

Happy 88th birthday Granddad. I love you.

This weekend we're having a family gathering at a resort. I am looking forward to it immensely, but I am also a bit worried about gaining.

Yesterday's food: 1071 cals, 14.2 carbs
B: eggs, coffee
L: cucumber, emmental
D: grilled bacon wrapped chicken thigh topped with emmental cheese, prawns
S: fat bombs, 4 coffees

Fingers crossed for the weekend...

179.3 after a long weekend food fest
I'm happy and I think I did pretty well.
I might try a kind of fasting day today to balance the excesses of the past weekend.

It's weird how I struggle more with my body image now that I have lost some weight. I feel horrible when I look in the mirror. How did it not bother me as much 20 lbs ago? Things will even out in the end.

I love bushveld holidays. Would have loved to stay longer.
I really thought I would gain more over the weekend. My servings/plates were too big, did not count calories, ate fruit and drank alcohol.
Friday we had cold meat (eland roast) with marinated veggies.
Saturday: Leftovers, nuts, fruit (watermelon, plum), slow roasted leg of lamb, gem squash
Sunday: Leftovers, nuts, beef shin potjiekos
Monday: Leftovers, cheese, olives, cherries, pork sosaties, eland steak, roast veggies
I avoided the potatoes, corn, rice, carrots, pastries, and many other side dishes. Also tried to skip the chips, cookies, ice cream etc. It did not detract from enjoying the food or the weekend!
I have to admit that I did miss having a rusk with my morning coffee.

Would rather go on another game drive than go to work right now...
Hah!

Did not weigh this morning, spent some time at DBF's house I think the same thing will happen tonight.

Yesterday's food: 1178 cals and 27 carbs
B: coffee with cream, fat bombs
L: lots of coffee, emmental cheese
D: chicken salad with bacon, avo and feta
S: even more coffee

Got to get motivated!

Did not weigh this morning as predicted.

I ate a LOT yesterday. 1700 cals and 19.57 carbs.
I devoured bacon, fat bombs, biltong, cheese and several coffees.
High fat and high sodium. I have a feeling I'll see another gain but I won't panic.

Today's tallies may also be higher than I would like - I'm visiting my grandparents tonight for dinner. I'll just have to calculate as I go along. Planning green bean curry for lunch, wich will also push up carbs.
Oxtail tonight will send calories soaring again.
And yet... I plan on enjoying every bite, and every minute spent with my grandparents. Life is short

So... We should report the good, the bad and the ugly, right?
For yesterday...
The good: Everything I ate was low-carb, and I got a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
The bad: I still haven't weighed myself and I suspect there's a lot of damage piling on.
The ugly: The sheer amount of calories I consumed yesterday.

Totals were 1866 calories and 17.06 carbs.
I ate more than 120 grams of fat alone. Insane.
B: 2 fat bombs, coffee
L: green bean masala curry with coconut milk and cottage cheese, black rooibos tea
D: oxtail, half a gem squash, coffee
S: another fat bomb 30g cheddar, 3 more coffees

I was unstoppable.

So I'll just carry that unrelenting attitude over to exercising more willpower and control with regards to the food choices and eating decisions I make (and exercising more in general, hehe).

For today:
1. Drink a litre of water at work.
2. Take my vitamins.
3. Fast during the daylight hours - only liquids.

It's not a race

I've had happy holidays.

I'm getting back on track right now.
Actually, I didn't stray too far... All in all (since I last journalled) I had half a cup of home-made vanilla ice cream and four chocolate truffle praline thingies.
All our main meals were standard low carb goodies.
I've started counting and tracking my food again this morning, and I feel happy and confident.

This morning I got back on the scale...
177.5
I might burst into song and a happy dance.

Yesterday's food: 1298 cals and 13.17 carbs
Spread throughout the day I had the following:
Boerewors, lamb shin, at least 5 coffees, fat bombs, chamomile tea, sprite zero.

I want to try and replace most of those coffees with water, or perhaps tea at the very least.
I haven't been very organised lately and I have absolutely no food planned for today. I was in a hurry this morning and so far all I've had was a fat bomb that I grabbed from the fridge. There are no good options at the office cafeteria for lunch. I'll cross that bridge when I get there...

Low carb overindulgence... Today is a correction day!
Considering getting an Atkins book so that I have a structured plan and not just pottering about on my own.

Starting this new year at 176.6

I got the new Atkins book on my kindle! Time for some relaxed reading.
Now I'll have a very structured plan to follow. I'll start with induction once I've read what I need to do. I'll have to do a grocery run tomorrow!

Looking forward to this new year

I did some closet shopping this morning, and fit in a pretty dress for work
I now seem to be a size 14 (I think we use UK sizing here in South Africa). I started as size 18. It's good to see progress.

We spent New Year's day at my sister's place. She served chicken, cheesy cauliflower bake, caprese salad, and fried zucchini-tomato. She made full cream sugar free ice-cream for dessert. We also indulged in vanilla vodka with sprite zero. I'll have to wait and see if this comes back to haunt me.

I'm still reading my Atkins book and I think I'll try starting induction tonight. Giving up my caffeine might be difficult, but ultimately it wil be worth it. I need to establish healthy eating habits.

Things will return to normal now that all the holidays are over. Yay!

Inexplicably, my mood turned sour today.
I am in such a bad mood and very irritable!
I have a slab of Lindt 85 percent chocolate in my desk drawer calling my name...
But I am NOT hungry and so I will NOT eat even ONE block.
End of story.

Hope it sticks. Well, it should... Because I'm starting induction today!

Yesterday I ate 1409 cals and 5.7 carbs.
I had a lot of chicken throughout the day, snacked on cheese and coffee.
I'm aiming to up my intake of leafy greens.

Today is DBF's youngest son's birthday. I baked a cake last night (I still need to finish it today). It's a Bar One Chocolate cake with caramel and whipped cream filling, very rich. I'm not even tempted.

Hoping today will be a good day.

Followed an induction menu yesterday.
Cream in decaf coffee, carbs under 20 kind-of-thing.

Breakfast was bacon and eggs.
Lunch was chicken with tomato.
Dinner was pork neck steaks with cheese and olives.
I had coffee with cream, and black rooibos tea.

Maybe I absorbed some of the cake I served to my guests by osmosis?
I'm still happy with my losses thus far.
I think my January goal may be a bit lofty - but I'll try my best!
Happy Friday to everyone

175.9 this morning after weekend festivities which included me drinking a whole bottle of sweet white wine yesterday
I am sure the scale will go up a bit before coming back down after the off-plan weekend. I know it will go down again, I am not worried.
I must have eaten in excess of 2000 cals yesterday... I'm not sure what came over me!
I'm right back on plan today, and I woke up feeling pretty good.

Today I am craving fat. I had a quarter cup of cream in my morning coffee alone... I'll pack slow-cooked pork belly for lunch. I won't count cals today, but I will make an effort to focus on satiety. I'll try to increase my water intake as well.

I wasn't really hungry yesterday. I had 920 cals and 18 carbs.
I had a morning dentist appointment, so I really only had one late afternoon main meal. I snacked on coffee and a dill pickle.
Dinner was frittata with ham, zuchinni and cheddar. I also munched a strip of pork belly when I switched off my slow cooker.

A colleague at work asked me what I'm doing to have lost so much weight. I said I don't eat sugar and starches like flour and potato

175.0 this morning.

I ate my fill of fatty pork belly yesterday morning and afternoon. Dinner was creamy bolognaise.
DBF's youngest son just started MMA classes and he wants me to run with him in the afternoons when I'm there.
I'll leave a pair of running shoes at the house... We'll see how it goes.

I've signed up for a relay walk for CANSA in March as well

Slow and steady!

I am still amazed at this transformation that is taking place.

Yesterday's food was bacon and eggs for breakfast and lunch. Dinner was rump steak with cheddar stuffed zucchini. I also chugged a lot of water.

I've got the hiccups today

Yesterday's food was 1646 cals and 62.7 carbs.
Yes, that's right 67.2 carbs in total. They were sneaky little salad carbs!
B: coffee with cream, slice of ham
L: rump steak with green salad and cherry tomatoes
D: cheesy mini vienna sausages and greek salad from Woolworths with a whopping 51.4 carbs.

I have learned two things...
1. Don't check the nutritional label AFTER you've hoovered down the whole thing.
2. Even salad needs to be portion controlled. I must have eaten more than 400g of salad yesterday. It all adds up.

Before I started this journal, I lurked here on these boards for ages. I read so many journals and that's what got me really inspired. Stories of real people in real life who have achieved amazing success. People who shared victories, setbacks, and above all, slow and steady progress.
I thought to myself... If they can do it... Who says I can't?
So I set off - and I haven't looked back since.
I guess what I'm trying to say is:
If I can do it (and I'm still doing it, I'm a work in progress dontchaknow )... YOU definitely can!

Ohhhh yeeeaaaahhhhh!

Yesterday's eats were a little bit over-carby.
I had coffee with cream, picnic ham, macadamia nuts and halloumi cheese.
All in all about 25.5 carbs and 1286 cals.

My energy levels are a bit low lately.
I get home after work with the best intentions to do housework and exercise... And then I end up napping. Oh woe.
I know that exercise will actually boost my energy levels!

Lucky 777! Or 77.7kg, anyway. That's 171.3lbs. Ka-ching!

Getting close to a new decade. Very happy with the progress I'm making.

Yesterday's munchies clocked in at 1173 cals and 22 carbs.
B: coffee with cream, macadamia nuts
L: zucchini-tomato bake with cheddar cheese on top
D: lemon-and-herb roast chicken

Kinda mad at myself and disappointed.
I was "too polite" to decline a bowl of fruit salad at Bible study group.
Bad to worse, I'm sure there was added sugar.
WHO sprinkles extra sugar over a bowl of perfectly sweet fruit?!
Bible study ended at 21:00. Got home at 21:15 and did half an hour on my exercise bike.
Need to bath and go to bed.
Harrumph.
