203.8, and I still feel puffy. Part of it is the pulled pork from last night. Yum yum yum.

We have a going-away party today for an employee, so I'll have to be good. Mexican food. I won't eat the dessert.

Really amazing how hard to get it off it is, but how easily it pops back. What is the quote? Don't think of it as three steps forward, two steps back - just call it the cha cha.

203.8. And that's after I ate too much last night, so I'm good.

I had a strange post-snack experience yesterday. Now, I'll preface this with a confession of staying up past 1 am Monday night chatting with a friend. But yesterday I was hungry and had a few ounces of sharp cheddar cheese microwave crackers topped with sour cream. Afterwards I fell asleep in my chair. It wasn't like a sugar-crash sleep that I would experience with carbs, but it was still unexpected.

I never officially found out where I was on the diabetic trail, but I had my suspicions. Not having reactions like that was a prime consideration for going low carb and sticking to it.

Today I have a full day with kiddo in tow to work. Then tonight I teach a canvas painting class. That will keep me out somewhat late, but I have leftover Mexican at work. It's just so high in salt that I puff up.

203.0 so back to the baseline and now maybe to lose? I'd like to be down to 200 before I leave for NYC next Wednesday. That trip will be a test, for sure, but the sheer amount I'd walking might counter-act any food sins that occur.

I am all out of sorts as to what day it is. Normally I teach on Thursdays but we taught last night. Small group - huge storm kept a few folks away. But it was fun. Today we have a camp and I have some errands to run. I have to find a cocktail dress for the wedding. I may hit up a consignment store. I don't want to spend much money.

Tonight for dinner I had a bowl with broccoli, butter, sour cream, and about three ounces of smoked pork.

There is a picture of a t-shirt online that says "I like pig butts and I cannot lie". I need this tattooed on my shoulder. I could eat smoked pork for every meal and be happy. Well, smoked chicken has to be a part of the rotation.

Amazing.

I think that keeping what I'm doing simple has been the key. I eat the same thing just about every day, I don't try to recreate high-carb things in low-carb form. And I'm restricting calories, too. Is it a fat fast? Maybe, but I have a pretty good carb load with the broccoli.

I swear, I think the key is that orange drink from Walmart. When I'm drinking that at night, I'm not going in search of something to eat.

Up a tich... TOM, at lunch at a restaurant yesterday and then last night had a few spoons of peanut butter. Not really surprised.

Cha cha cha!

The salt and vinegar almonds have to leave my house. I'm up another tich to 202 and I feel a wee bit puffy, and I'm guessing from the blasted almonds that I could eat and eat and eat.

Two days before I leave for NYC. Sooooo much to do and freaking out a bit. This time next week I hope I still weigh less than 205, just being honest. I'm going to a wedding with a sit-down meal that I have no control over, plus several other family-events. I just found out that the "brunch" we are invited to Sunday is bagels. Great. The good news is that I will walk my legs off so that should help.

201.8 again, but still feeling puffy. Stil TOM and I'm over that. Last day before vacation.

I'm indulging on an omelet for breakfast and I sort of cant wait. It's my friend's restaurant and I love his ham and cheese omelets even if I will puff up. But the rest ofmthenday will be clean eating.

Leaving for five days in NYC and this morning I'm at 201.8. I'll come home and hit induction hard but I know these next few days will be a challenge.

I kept meaning to mention this:

We are flying, and have to check one bag because we have hair goop and other liquids. The bag limit is 50 pounds and when I was checking the weight last night, I could barely pick up the bag. Considering I've lost 75 pounds, I wasn't expecting to struggle with 50 like I did.

We are waiting at the Charlotte airport right now and so far I'm really glad for Starbucks and I have some almonds in my carry-on, because there is nothing else so far for me to eat.

I have been doing really well eating in NYC until dinner tonight, where I had a wedge of bread at the Italian restaurant. It was small - half the size of my palm - and I had the salumi plate instead of pasta or pizza for dinner. Lunch today was in Chinatown and I'm sure the sauce was bad (twice fried pork) but no rice or other obvious carbs.

Tomorrow is the wedding, and I know it is a sit-down meal but no idea what is being served. I'm going to have some cake, but otherwise I'm going to do my best.

I have also walked all over the world in the last three days. Women in NYC have amazing legs for a reason.

I've really enjoyed this trip. We are staying in the room tonight because we are tired and I want us to enjoy the metropolitan museum of art tomorrow. We probably overdid it yesterday and this morning my son wasn't at his best. We still did a ton today, but not as much as we had planned. That's okay.

My only real regret is we are not seeing any shows. But they are so pricy! We will do it another trip.

The best thing about this is I know what a difference my weight loss has meant to how I can enjoy myself. I'm able to walk through exhibits that before would have been hard. I may not have fit into the ride at the empire stare building. I would have felt so self conscious the entire trip. Now, when I see my reflection in windows I feel like I look "normal" and pictures with me in them don't make me cringe. I even changed my profile pic on fb to one of the three of us in front of the Statue of Liberty. I never would allow pictures of me to be out there before.

I've tried to not think about my "diet" either. But that bread just looked amazing - I wanted to try it but I didn't feel like I had to finish it, either.

I will say that after dinner I wanted a cappuccino but I didn't trust I'd get decaf. There are, of course, Starbucks everywhere - but I'm pretty sure it would have been the most glorious treat. Too bad my dining companions were anxious to go. Tis is the trip for my son and husband, not me - I just have to remind myself of that.

I stepped on the scale when I got home and that was not a good idea. I will be on strict induction for a week and then I'll think about it.

But, seriously, I thought I did pretty well, and I walked for miles. But the scale was pretty brutal.

I did NOT do well yesterday, as we did our back-in-town and day-before-school running around. Today will be better.

I started couch-to-5k this morning and did the whole thing (except I was back at the house a few minutes before the cool down was finished so I stopped early). And 10 minutes later I can still feel it in my chest. I'm sure it's easier at 205-ish like I am now than it would have been even 15 pounds heavier, but it was killing me.

I need to be at work at 10 and I may or may not make it sooner than that.

This community has been so important to me in my success in losing weight. In the last few days I've seen several people for the first time in months, and the reaction has been so gratifying. I know I would have long ago given up and been back on the carb-wagon and probably fatter than ever.

I'm thinking about this, because I think we all end up "knowing" some regulars on this site. I know that I followed several people on personal blog threads, and when they stop updating, I wonder how they are doing. Even of they didn't have a blog thread, I got to know people as they posted around the main lobby, and I'm always sad when I realize they haven't contributed in a while.

Sigh. My weight is still up. It is such a struggle - work so hard and then it can be undone in such easy order.

This morning I did 30 minutes of Wii fit. Between now and convention (sept 10) I plan to alternate days of C25K and Wii fit. I've lost almost 40 pounds since last year's convention, and I want to do some last-minute toning, too. Vain, yes, but these are my professional peers and I want to look good.

I also need to pick which 5k I am running. I think it's going to be Komen, but I'm still looking. October 12. Then straight into more training.

I ate way too much last night, but today will be better.

Under 200 by Labor Day is my goal.

I am awake and have had one cup of coffee and need to go do day 2 of c25k. What I want to do is climb back in bed.

Why do I feel like I'm just going to be some degree of sore for the next 6 months?

The soreness will go away. You will get used to it! And you WILL be under 200 by Labor Day! So excited for you that you are running a race -- that is GREAT!

I did my "run" and it was really hard. I will do this, and I'm still sore, but I am not sure how much I will love it.

Julia, maybe you will grow to love it. I think you will. Give it time. I used to be a runner in my skinny days and I liked it. It is hard but you feel great afterwards.

Thank you! I want to. Back in the day I did long walks but I never was a runner. Hoping to start. My goal is a half marathon in February before I turn 45 in march. Hello, mid-life crisis.

My legs are still so sore. Henry climbing all over me last night didn't help. Yikes.

This morning I have a bind on when I can exercise. Logistics of meeting someone at 8 then coming home blah blah blah.

Still not losing, but I can feel my muscles getting firmer. Next week I will focus on losing.

Last night I went to a casual party at a neighbor's house and everyone was so complimentary about how I looked. Made me feel great. Ate a bit too much cheese and olives but not pizza and sandwiches, so go me.

Going to out clothes on for a run. Here I go!

Week one of c25k is in the books! And I did it!

About to make the grocery list for the week. School night dinners are tough, and this week we have events two nights. Sigh. Jump right in!

My weight has actually gone up this week. I'm going to not stress about it, too much, but assume tht it has something to do with how sore I am.

You might have gained a little muscle with is a good thing. If you can, stop obsessing over the scale -- you are going in the right direction. You are eating properly and getting vigorous exercise. You will be at goal in no time.

Lately I've hopped on the scale and come back off with a "whatever, I feel great" attitude. I can fluctuate 7 pounds in a few days time. I try not to stress, but it took me a LONG time to get to this point!

I'm not stressing over the scale right now. I'm ravenous and eating a bit more, but really feel like I'm retaining water with the soreness and gaining some muscle. I can see a change in my body shape and my legs LOOK more muscular.

I need to quit giving myself goals and deadlines that are scale-related. They are never good ideas.

I didn't sleep well last night, and I was giving myself every possible excuse no opportunity to skip exercising this morning, but my day is beyond hectic and I have literally no other time except high noon to exercise, and that's not a good idea. So I dragged my sorry butt outside and did it. Turns out, with 2 minute breaks in between I CAN jog for 90 seconds. Who knew!?!?

Now I need to go get in the shower, except I haven't stopped sweating yet. One more minute.
