I'm technically in P4 but eating mostly P3 to maintain. I am doing well so far, maintaining about 2lbs over LIW. I'm happy with my weight but gearing up to start an exercise regimen to get in shape and try and tame my tummy pouch.

(Was really asked if I'm pregnant even though I'm 15lbs lighter than I was when I got pregnant and generally speaking, pretty slim, but my belly is potruding)

My last round went well, I lost about 11lbs in 18 days which was good, I did great at first and then TOM came around and stalled me so that was that.

I don't plan to do another Round until after my next pregnancy but that may change because right now I am reconsidering when to try for Number 2. Originally we were going to start trying around May or June but I'm just not sure I'm ready. So may push it off to September right after my son turns 2. If I push it off that far, then perhaps I could sneak in one more round before that time. I'm just not sure yet.

I would KILL for 11 pounds in 18 days!! (never gonna happen... grrrrrr).

How was your hunger, because I know we both struggled with that in the past? Did you stay on 150iu's?

Hunger was much more manageable this time around.

I stayed at 30 instead of 25 and upped y protein a bit that worked for me.

I also found a few new recipes that made it better.

I turned my strawberries into sorbet. I would freeze them and then put Ito my mini cuisinart with some milk and stevia and it was so good.

I also made asparagus soup which was sooo good!

Hello Buttah, I just read your entire blog... I was on VLCD1 after loading and having a bad day and was looking for inspiration and came across your blog. It was great reading your success until..boom..the last few posts where you are having difficulty. I hope it's only a minor bump.

I'm on my last round. I have done rx all times but sublingual and nasal. I was so hungry on the nasal... I tried to tweak with dosage - I was told to up it, told to lower it etc nothing worked. It became manageable but it was a horrible round. I also ended up with binging issues after that round and I wonder whether that hunger was from abnormal fat and I was starving, and it may have set off the binging

Anyway this round I've got the injections and today is VLCD2 and I'm feeling terrific, no hunger; this is how I want to feel all the time and am looking forward to this round but not the food I normally do follow POP but I so hate chicken breast and fish now. I was toying with the idea of going rogue and substituting a meat dish with 1% greek yoghurt which has a whopping 17g of protein in it and very low fat. Dr S allowed cottage cheese and the eggs once in a while if people couldn't stomach the meat all the time. If I get to a point where I can't stand the meat anymore I might try this but I don't know - I'm too chicken to go rogue.

Also I wanted to say I tried JUDDD and loved it. I lost initially on it but then the binging monster jumped out on UD's and was doing my head in. I would like to return to JUDDD for maintenance because it's something I could do forever and I love the science behind it.

Anyway, I hope you keep posting and get over what is hopefully just a bump. Now I think I read somewhere that HCG works particularly well with menopausal and post-menopausal women, not sure where I read it, was it Robyn's book?

Hi Mojocat!!!

Thanks for your support. So far, fingers crossed, this is my best experience with hunger. All my round (aside from tweaking gone bad) have been 150 iu's because that's just how my clinic does it. Maybe at this size, this version of me, it's finally the right dose? I don't know. We'll see around days 5-6. It's now the morning of day 4 (I still have weigh - coffee and bathroom always come first for me..

You don't look like you have an ounce to lose in your profile pic!

I think I was headed for the binge monster on UD's as well doing JUDDD, but the real truth is that the DDs were just too hard for me to live that way. I would do it again to lose, but not to maintain. At least I say that now.

I truly believe maintaining is way harder than losing, and that's why I've put so much thinking and philosophizing into it.

Reddy, I WOULD LOVE that asparagus soup recipe. A few standbys have made HCG doable for me, but I'm getting tired of them. I found it really saved me to do a veggie soup a few hours before dinner (but mine was "french onion"), then doing just my protein (or maybe even some more veggies - I'm pretty lenient with veggies as is since I don't do melba/grissini) for dinner.

Stay with me, guys. I need you.

And Reddy, how fun to be considering a pregnancy. I miss when my boys were little so much. As you know, it goes so dang fast. You know what? I don't say dang in real life, so why say it in my journal. Damn damn damn fast. So there.

Pre-load weight: was 147, but day before loading was 148 and change.
03/30 VLCD1 149.9 (gained about 2 - 3 lbs during loading; I'll call it 2.5)
03/31 VLCD2 148.1 (-1.8)
04/01 VLCD3 147.8 (-.3)
04/02 VLCD4 147.5 (-.2) I think. I forgot to write it down, and I'm clearly losing my mind because I also forgot my shot until 11am.

REALLY? My first week is this slow?

My first week is also slow for some reason. Morning of VLCD3 and still haven't lost my loading weight. I'm really not even going to count my weight loss until I lose that load weight.

I agree maintenance is dang hard. P3 is a breeze and then P4 is the problem and I don't even add the starches and sugars then. I think hunger/leptin/ghrelin comes in play around that time, well something happens I'm not sure what but hunger rebounds. So this time I'm going straight into JUDDD for P4 maintenance with higher calories and just hope the feast/fast doesn't awaken that monster. This time I'm armed with some Pterostilbene for JUDDD.

I keep reading Jack Kruse's site to see what the latest is on leptin but he's gone all woo woo lately with EMF's; I want Jack back! So Buttah anything you find out about cracking this maintenance nut would be greatly appreciated.

Buttah I lost a lot of weight last year, spent the whole year in some form of diet so I'm determined to keep this off and I can't really afford a new wardrobe...bought too many new clothes.

Well, until the week before this round (literally), I think I was maintaining fabulously. Eating low carb, following the Hunger Scale, and not over-induling ever. If I want desert, I share it. And only if I'm hungry. I've posted all this ad infinitum, but maybe not in here. At some point, I'll try.

But then the hot flashes all day and night and whatever, or maybe just TOM coming and suddenly the scale started climbing the last week before I loaded, for seemingly no reason.

But other than that, I maintained fabulously for 10 weeks between rounds one and two, and 9 weeks between two and three. And I had a maintenance period before I started JUDDD. I used to have a graph of my entire journey in my signature. Maybe I'll put it back. It was down, flat, down, flat, down... etc. I really do believe that menopause notwithstanding, I had mastered the "flats." By giving up overeating.

What are EMF's?

And btw, I started my journey a year ago February. That's the 189 weight. STarted HCG end of August.

Electromagnetic frequencies; all the electricity, cell phone radiation, wireless radiation around us affecting our health and circadium rhythms, and he's jumped onto the fluoride issue. Yes I agree with all that but been there done that, nothing new, not much can be done about the radiation it's part of our modern living now, unless I want to go and live in a cave which I don't.
Jack has always been at the forefront of new ideas with his leptin reset so I'm not sure if this is a new road for him?

Don't worry Buttah, HCG and JUDDD seem to work really well on all ages and you have some mighty determination from what I have read on your blog. This is a battle, but worth it, what's the choice - moo moo kaftans in the wardrobe no thanks. I have no photos of myself from the last 7 years and now you can't keep my mug out of them.

Also I love love what you say about never ever ever using birthdays/celebrations etc as an excuse to pig out. I did that for our wedding anniversary a few weeks back, it was my UD and I literally had my snout in the trough for the whole day and night. Never again!!

PS: Hungry last night so made a huge bottle of lemon water/stevia and sipped it. I rely a lot of herbal teas and lemon water to get me though. I cannot stomach black coffee Sorry for errors I'm a horribly lazy typist.

Edit: Asparagus soup sounds delish.

Just popping in to 'Hi' Buttah, and I am delighted to see how well you have done.

It appears your early difficulties this time around are now behind you. Nice!

I am now maintaining on 5:2 or even sometimes 6:1 and having a ball. So much easier that straight JUDDD. But you seem happy eating LC, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Wait, what's 5:2 or 6:1?!!!!!!!!

Here are my numbers for today. So far, my 1/4 egg whites for breakfast (when hungry enough that I feel not eating them will start my day off badly, which is usually) and 4 oz protein L and D, but under 535 calories a day... seems to be working just fine. No worse than other rounds, anyway. I don't think.

Pre-load weight: was 147, but day before loading was 148 and change.
03/30 VLCD1 149.9 (gained about 2 - 3 lbs during loading; I'll call it 2.5)

04/03 VLCD6 145.5 (-1.0)
04/03 VLCD7 144.7 (-0.8)

Not bad for my third (and goal) round, I guess! One more day of week one.

Might be time to update my ticker with my "somewhere in the 30's) goal.

5:2 is 2 nonconsecutive days of under 500 cals, the rest up to 2000. 6:1, the same but only one day.

Some people even lose on the first one. I maintain with 5:2.

Nice numbers there, hope you are feeling better.

Hmmmm. I may have to try that when I reach goal. Just for kicks. But yeah, overall, eating mostly low carb every day and going by hunger has worked for me. The old JUDDD DD's were really really hard. But maybe in maintenance and less often, they'll be doable.

Well, not so happy this morning.

Note: checked my records and made some corrections; plus my dates weren't right

Pre-load weight: previously stabilized at 147, but official pre-loading was 148ish
03/30 VLCD1 149.9
03/31 VLCD2 148.1 (-1.8)
04/01 VLCD3 147.8 (-.3)
04/02 VLCD4 147.5 (-.2) I think.
04/03 VLCD5 146.5 (-1.0) bettah!!!
04/04 VLCD6 145.5 (-1.0)
04/05 VLCD7 144.7 (-0.8)
04/06 VLCD8 145.0 (+0.3)

Total loss for week 1: Approx 5 lbs including load weight, approx 3 lbs not including loading

I hate ending a first week with a "gain." Puts a damper on the whole week. I know it's not a true gain. Water, blah blah, whatever. But still. And it's a natural part of a downward trend. For the record I had 99% FF ground turkey for lunch (some say you shouldn't, Robin W gives it the okay), beef for dinner, but I skipped my evening (second) apple altogether. But I don't believe one day's food is necessarily a direct determinant of the next morning's weigh in (pig outs notwithstanding)... and I never will. I also did some heavy lifting yesterday.

Still... still haven't lost any "virgin" pounds. Those start below 143. Jeez I hope that happens next week. Big sigh.

I'm getting kind of bored with this. I expected a bigger number after going up yesterday. Had under 500 calories again yesterday due to never eating second apple. This is not fast enough, people.

04/04 VLCD6 145.5 (-1.0)
04/05 VLCD7 144.7 (-0.8)
04/06 VLCD8 145.0 (+0.3)

Total loss for week 1: Approx 5 lbs including load weight, approx 3 lbs not including loading (WAY lower than rounds one and two)

04/07 VLCD9 144.6 I THINK, might have been 144.7 (-0.3 or -0.4)
04/08 VLCD10 143.5 -1.1

Happy. Please let's not go back up tomorrow? Spent 10 days getting to R2's LIW (and I was never THAT far above it). I'm a pound away from virgin losses.

Did you wait in between rounds?

Yup. 10 weeks between R1 and R2, 9.5 weeks between 3 and 4. I'm very strict about this stuff! But if you go back a page or so and look at all my records, you'l see I'm not a very fast loser even on HCG.

STS. BORING. I cannot wait to cross into virgin loss territory (below 142.7, which I saw for ten seconds in R2). At this rate, that will be in a week.

...better next week than not at all, Buttah! I totally sympathize with the slooooow/STS pattern - my third round (42days) dragged from Week 2 onwards, with avg loss of about 1.5 each week until the end. I stuck to it though, figuring that it was all heading, however slowly, in the right direction.

Maybe it's also a stubborn sticking point thing? If you've carried a lot more for so long and this is a range of numbers you haven't seen in years, to drop as much as you have in less than six months is a shock regardless of the stabilising and breaks! You're doing a great job, and the one thing that will carry you to goal is that unique determination and ability you have to look behind the numbers for the other reasons you're doing this.

Cheering you on from the wings - and fingers crossed for a loss tomorrow!

Well, my 189 number was from Feb '12, over a year ago. I started losing with LC/Low Cal, not HCG, and my total journey is now over a year old. So I have not dropped that quickly, really. HCG has only been since 169ish. "Only" around 25 lbs since late August.

And I am close to goal. I don't think this is a set point, but it would be so long ago, I don't know.

Thanks for the encouragement!
