Hi Buttah!

I just want you to know that I am reading your journal through and you are truly inspiring me! Your first week was very difficult on you but you stuck with it! I am also thankful that you had the friends available to help you out with your questions and concerns!

Blessings to you!

Hi Shelle!!! Yes, it was tough that first week or so. I'm not gonna lie. But then it wasn't. Honestly, I think my neurotic nature made it harder than it had to be. I'm very controlling and like to understand what's going on in my body. I ain't no dummy, either (she said, using "ain't!) Anyway, it got easier. And my entire life has changed. I'm sorry I've been so absent on the forum (life gets in the way), but glad to hear from you. How is it going?

I'm going to start my last round in about a week and half, so I'll be back more then.

I BELIEVE in HCG. It has helped me accomplish things I NEVER would have been able to before. I am 55. I only wish I'd found it sooner. Lucky for you, you have, right?!

Hi Buttah! I was wondering what happened to you. I know about life being in the way. I am committed to reading clear through your journal. I also have linked onto verbqueen, and a couple other youtube blogs that was mentioned during your first week.

Please feel free to stop by my journal. I would like to keep as much about my journey there so that I reference it when needed! Again congrats on such wonderful results!

Thanks Buttah. I watched one of her videos today at work and you are right. She really inspired me. I actually believed that I could be a size 2, which I have never been in my life!

My bottom half is a size 6. I'm buying "young" jeans in 27's and 28's. If someone had told me that was possible a year ago, I would have laughed in their face. My body really DID reshape, in such great ways. Now if I could only get that tummy tuck, I'll be a whole new woman (although truthfully, I already am). But I think a short round first!

Hi again! I feel like a pest. I am on post 190 of yours and I have to ask.... what do you think contributed to your extremely hunger the first two weeks and what would you do differently?

No worries. I think I have told you the answer to that. I had just come from JUDDD, intermittent fasting. We all think that's what it was (everyone here, my doctor, Robin Woodall). I had been dieting for months prior to that as well (had already lost a bunch, but very slowly). But the JUDDD diet should not be done right before loading. I fit into Dr. S's "depleted" category, which meant two days of loading was not enough.

I really did "settle in" and from then on, it was fine. I think I posted more in the P2 forums eventually, but I tried to keep up in here as well. It was just in the beginning, when I was really falling apart emotionally, that I posted in here every day. But you'll see... IT'S A HAPPY ENDING, twice!

C'Marie!! How are you? I've been SO BUSY. I will be starting my last round soon (hopefully my last, but watch me lose just 5 lbs) and be back much more. All's good. I have changed everything about how I deal with food. Forever!

How's it going?!!!

I am doing pretty good. This has been much more complicated and in depth of a journey for me than I anticipated. It is mind-boggling that others don't seem to have as many issues. One thing I have learned is that my eating choices are more emotional than physical. Maybe that is why others can just do it when it comes to hcg and I fumbled, fumbled, fumbled.

LOL! But you wouldn't believe the self-help books I have accumulated since starting this and the prayers I have prayed. So I am looking at this for the long haul and trying to avoid the first two weeks results. There are very troublesome to me.

No I didn't see that thread. I saw you on Emma's Diet thread asking questions. I am very weary of her. First I think her prices are outrageous and when she came on Dr Oz I visited her site getting pretty excited that there was "alternatives". But when I saw all of the products that she had waiting for me with her name all over them, it was a bit of a turn off. Only one year studying this and I could get tablespoons with Dr. Emma written on them? LOL! I know, this has nothing to do with whether her plan works or not.

I know you preach "by the book". Out of pure curiosity, why are you looking into other plans now? I am learning to and have already learned so much from you. So please do tell what you are discovering.

I am only considering it because I'm really curious if higher calories - which is just 3 egg whites in the morning and a bit more protein for the lunch and dinner - will help me get through the horrible days, and possible lose more. Her only other changes are a lettuce-type salad in addition to the regular veggies, and I kind of already nibbled cukes and radishes even if they weren't my meal vegetable. She allows a third fruit if you need it as well. That is the extent of the 800 calorie plan. It's not radical at all.

I'm considering this because I've already done it by the book (with the exception of adding some egg whites and a bit more protein!). I downloaded the e-book for the 800 calorie protocol (Sonia Russell's - it's really not 800, though - more like 500-800, averaging around 650-700) because I was SO CURIOUS what it was. And because Sleepy and someone else here had success with it. The first part of the book is full of people like me who've already done the 500 calorie protocol and most had the same or better losses with slightly more calories.

So I'm curious if that could happen to me, because my losses were definitely lower than average. I did not even average .5 a day, and I was so careful! I know I will be JUST AS STRICT on that version as I was on Simeon's, and I will only use that extra protein (and egg whites) IF I am too hungry.

Also, SR's plan also has no melba/grissini (duh - empty calories - what on earth is the point?), which I never had anyway, and she makes those calories up with a bit more protein. I was already making it up with veggies. I really think the extra protein will help me. Her plan allows no "fake" foods like SF jello and crap like that, and I really believe in that. She does not allow any fats, and that seems very Simeon's-esque to me. In fact her plan just seems like his w/ a bit more protein. (I probably will not have the extra fruit she allows, if you need it. I just don't think I'll need it.) It just seems very sensible. And I KNOW I'LL BE OCD about it. If I'm not losing, I'll go back down to 500.

I don't recommend re-inventing the wheel, believe me. But I've done a 45 day round and a 28 day round very strictly. I'm not scared to try a bit more protein.

Well, tomorrow is the day. I will do my first injection of round 3 tomorrow. I hope I've knocked off the Passover wine gain of Monday night, so I'm starting where I'd stabilized from last round... but if not, so be it.

Tomorrow morning I inject and begin loading (no carb, though, like last time - no reason to gain!)

I might have picked the worst time to start a round.

First off, I'm 55 (but I look 45!) and period is erratic, usually every 5-6 weeks, but sometimes more or less. So I wasn't going to bother trying to wait until it was over. The last one was during my last round, early January. On top of that, in the past couple weeks, I've had tons of hot flashes. In the past, I had them once a week or so. It was no big deal. Now they're non-stop. I think perimenopause is finally here. Oh well, I figured - HCG shots will probably stop the hot flashes. I didn't get any while injecting before.

Anyway, I had stabilized at 147 (LIW was 143) for weeks and was VERY happy with that. But the last few days, even before loading, the scale climbed to 148-149.5 for seemingly no reason other than wine at Passover. Okay, I thought, I can deal with that. Maybe my period is finally coming again. I wondered if I should wait until it did, but since I can't really ever know for sure at this age, I didn't want to. I was bummed I was starting "higher" than I should have, but ready to go.

Yesterday was my first loading day. I did high fat again, no carbs and no sugar. Last time I loaded that way I only gained .9 in the two days. Well, this time I wasn't able to eat even HALF what I did any previous round's loading day. I tried, I really did. But over-eating is just not something I can do anymore. I had about 1900 - 2000 calories of mostly fat and protein. I figured I'd make it up today.

Hot flashes all night, and I woke up this morning having already gained 3 lbs!!! What? I didn't even have a "fun" loading day. And when I loaded my brains out in my first round, I only gained 3.3 total in the two days. So... I could gain 3 more after today, even if I don't load well (like yesterday)? That will put me near where I started round two (I only lost around 12 lbs in four weeks - I don't lose like some of you)! I'm so bummed. I haven't even started, and I feel like I'm doing a re-lose old weight kind of round. I CAN'T BELIEVE that!

I guess all I can do is hope that HCG stops the hot flashes, know that I can deal with those once I'm done (time for bioidential hormones?) and pray menopause isn't going to mess with my stabilization (if it wasn't doing so already), hope I don't gain too much today, pray that I lose the loading weight quickly and that whatever's now going on with my 55-year-old body doesn't mean that HCG isn't going to work as well as the last two rounds.

Any menopausal ladies out there have any words of comfort?

I wish I could give you words of comfort. I am perimenopausal I think. (age 44). I also ws doing the bio-identical hormones. I stopped them during this round however bc I was fighting the late night snacks so badly and didn't know what to blame. (Believe it was the Xanax). So anyhow, I have heard that hcg does eliminate the hot flashes. So there is hope on that one.

And I know what you mean about re-losing! Urghhh!!! HATE THAT! So not worth it!

I like what you wrote about the 600-800 calories. I have to admit that I thought the "extra" portion of protein that we are allowed was a full serving (3.5 oz) so I did that for many days when I was feeling very weak with willpower or whatever, and those days yielding the greatest losses. So I am paying attention to what you are discovering here.

Please keep me informed! So Easter is not a loading day for you? You are a brave lady!!!

Hugs!
Michelle

Yeah, re-losing weight when I've been ridiculously militant is what kills me.

What extra serving are you talking about? Allowed by whom? The 800 calorie plan allows 4 oz for lunch and dinner AND 1/4 cup egg whites for breakfast (I think it's 1/4 cup - have to check). I will only eat any of that "extra" if I need to.

Easter is meaningless to me. Number one, I'm Jewish. Number two, if you've read my journal and posts, you've probably seen that I NEVER EVER EVER let holidays or special events undo me. Ever. That is how people gain back. I eat small amounts and I don't gain.

Until this week and whatever the hell is going on!

I'm so hoping today's load will not give me a gain. Then I'll be starting at 150. Which still kills me, since I had stabilized for 9 weeks at 147 (AND if I really want to torture myself, my LIW was 143, but Robin W. told me I stabilized at a totally normal place, 4 lbs higher than that.)

Thanks for staying with me. How are YOU doing? What have you lost so far?

12/17 - VLCD1 155.9 (gained .9 from load)
12/18 - VLCD2 154 (lost 1.9 total, -1 lb from pre-load)
12/19 - VLCD3 152.5 -1.5 (down 2.5 from pre-load)
12/20 - VLCD4 151.9 -.6 (down 3.1 lb from pre-load)
12/21 - VLCD5 152.5 +.5
12/22 - VLCD6 151.1 -1.4 (better!)
12/23 - VLCD7 150.6 -.5 (down 5.3 from pre-load)
12/24 - VLCD8 150.9 +.3
12/25 - VLCD9 150.7 -.2
12/26 - VLCD10 149.9 -.8
12/27 - VLCD11 149.1 -.8 (down about 5.9 from pre-load)
12/28 - VLCD12 148.5 -.6 (-6.5 from pre-load, but I think pre-load was more like 155.5!)
12/29 - VLCD13 147.5 -1.0
12/30 - VLCD14 148 +.5
12/31 - VLCD15 146.6 -1.4
1/1 - VLCD16 STS
1/2 - VLCD17 STS
1/3 - VLCD18 146.1 -.4
1/4 - VLCD19 STS
1/5 - VLCD20 145.6 -.5 and a whoopdee BFD doo.!
1/6 - VLCD21 145.8
1/7 - VLCD22 145.5 TOM!
1/8 - VLCD23 144.6 -.9
1/9 - VLCD24 144.0 -.6
1/10 - VLCD25 143.3 -.7
1/11 - VLCD26 142.2 -.1.1
1/12 - VLCD27 143 +.8
1/13 - VLCD28 142.8 -.2 (LAST INJECTION)
Rounded my LDW to 143. Just an easier number and kind of an average of the last few days.

Weekly totals:

week one -4.1 lbs (not including LOAD weight, which was only about .9)
week two -4.3!
week three -1.1 (TOM)
week four -2.5

Total pounds lost in R2: 12
According to my rough calculations, 9 lbs of that was FAT.

Stabilized: Around 147

Round 3:

Okay here goes.

Pre-load weight: was 147, but day before loading was 148 and change.
05/30 VLCD1 149.9 (gained about 2 - 3 lbs during loading; I'll call it 2.5)
05/31 VLCD2 148.1 (-1.8)

Not much for a first day compared with my past rounds, (and an amount I could easily lose in P3/P4 after eating healthy for just one day after not eating so healthy for two days), so I'm going to remain nervous that HCG may not be "working" as well for me in this NEW and clearly perimenopause condition I've just entered into... until I see some steady movement downward. Given that I'm not a big loser on HCG in the first place (compared with most of you), I'm not jumping up and down yet. But remaining optimistic. Or trying to.

Love your detailed stat!!! I am keeping up with mine the same way. Will be so interesting to look at when I'm done! Hope tomorrow the scale is nice to us both. I am a compulsive weigher and if my pattern hold true tomorrow should be a good one for me. We shall see!!!

Do you take a magnesium supplement? Thinking I may have to start. I am up to 2 smooth move teas a week now.

Yes, I take Natural Calm. I think I recommended it to you. Smooth Move can be addicting to the system. But two a week isn't bad!

Hi Buttah!

How are you doing? I am just stopping in to say hi! I am not doing very well and very at wit's end over it. I truly have eating issues and am finding out that the smallest deviations ALWAYS end in a binge, especially with high stress situations which is all I had this week.

I will be writing it out more in my journal as to not duplicate. I know you have an amazing resolve and wish I did. I don't know what my issues are at this point. Anyhow, enough about me in your journal.

I will be looking forward to seeing how you unfold your protocol this time.

Hugs
Shelle

Please feel free to write about yourself in my journal!!! And know that you will get through it. It honestly just took me getting so fed up, literally, that ALL I cared about was changing my habits. And it's never over.

I'm not having a stellar beginning to round three, but I'll take it. Let me do the math and I'll my numbers in the next post!

Okay here goes.
