Well, Friday was fine for making it a DD, but I think I went a little wild on Sat and Sun. Which of course resulted in no change on the scale, even though I exercised like mad. To remind myself, here are my planned rotations:

Sun: Up Day
Mon: Down Day
Tue: Up Day
Wed: Down Day
Thur: Up Day
Fri: Medium Day (We don't want to give up Friday fish fry!)
Sat: Medium Day

I've decided to do the shakes on my DDs and see if this helps keep me on track. So, a bit of HWC in my coffee this morning should keep me going until my late lunch, a whey protein shake. Planning on skipping dinner, if I can drink my shake late enough in the afternoon.

Let me know how the shake situation goes! but no change in the scale after a holiday weekend, that is a WIN in my book!

I was soooo hungry all day yesterday....I did break down and have a little turkey breast meat with some mayo last night for dinner, but all in all, I stayed below 300 calories. Dropped .2 lbs only, but at least it was a drop. Today looks like 1600 calories if I go by what I planned on my tracker. really apprehensive about going all the way up to 1900.

what are your thoughts about this potato experiment that's a hot topic of discussion? I'd like to try it--maybe for 5-7 days and see what happens. I'm traveling for work this week and next, so I might give it a go in a few weeks.

Lisa - just my opinion is, drastic is never good for me. Back in 2002 when I lost 45 pounds following LC, I never did the Fat Fast or the Egg Fast! I think the extremes are what do me in with any eating plan. But, that's me! I think too much of anything is insane and not a doable plan for me. That's why JUDDD works so well for me. I can literally eat anything as long as I count the calories.

Girl, on your range, if your calculator indicates 1900c for an up day, you should really eat up to that. Mind the numbers, follow the plan, it does work! Heck, I am always at the very top range of my numbers, UP and Down days! 1600 seems pretty low for an up day! Hey look , we are on the same rotation! I think we will be for December. I plan to do dd's on MWF and then up days for either Saturday or Sunday with one of them being more of a mid day! Way too much going on all the weekends in December!

I value your opinion, Monica. And I know you've told me about minding the numbers before, so I'll add a bit more to today's menu.

Yeah, the potato deal seems a bit extreme, doesn't it? I think my main interest is the fact that potatoes are so filling and satisfying to me, and it would probably be a calories in/calories out thing for me. I'm going to keep tabs on it and look at results...I may end up trying it, just to satisfy my curiousity.

OH I see no reason not to eat potatoes, I just don't think I could do an entire week of nothing BUT potatoes. But I felt the same way about the Egg fast and such. I love eggs, just about any way you can make them, but not all day, every day for 7 days.

Let me know how it goes!

I made the mistake of telling Joe about this whole potato deal, and he's all for giving it a try! So we're going to start it on Monday. I think he will have an easier time with it, but I'm going to try my best to do it clean, with just spices and vinegar!

But....until Monday, I'm keeping up my rotations. Last night's UD was pretty close to my goal, and today I'm ready with my whey protein shake and coffee!

Sounds like a plan girl! Let me know how it goes. I can't live on potatoes, unless they are slathered with BUTTER and SOUR CREAM!

Enjoy your DD! I'ts only 8:00 a.m. and I am already starving!!!!! GRRRRR

Yesterday's DD was good.....pretty close to 400 calories. I did a bit of weight training yesterday, and I was up on the scale this morning. Grr. I'm not going to fret though--today is an up day and I had turkey and gravy on toast for breakfast. ha

I'm working in the Twin Cities today, so I'm going to make a stop at Trader Joe's on the way home and see what they have for vinegar and spices for our potato experiment next week.

It was! And so was lunch. I ate so many calories at lunch that I actually skipped dinner, and the scale showed a gain of a pound. Oh well.....was expecting it anyways.

We're going potato and vinegar shopping this weekend in preparation for Monday. I'm thinking that Saturday and Sunday will both be up days since we'll have to try to eat all the leftovers in the fridge...otherwise, we'll just toss it all and go out to eat. haha

Yeah, we're pretty pumped about it....got 50 pounds of big reds and a 5 pound sack of russets, and 5 different vinegars, so I think we're all set!

The only thing is, we're thinking about all the stuff we want to eat before doing this week-long potato hack, and it's all stuff that will surely tip the scales! I guess I'll just see what happens Monday morning, at my official weigh-in for this experiment.

Alright, here we go! Potato Day #1! Enjoyed a cold potato, sliced into wedges and dipped in malt vinegar. Really enjoyed it! Only thing I didn't enjoy was sipping coffee with nothing in it. Ugh. It's definitely going to be a tea kind of week--I can take that plain.

I'm bringing 4 potatoes to work today.....I'm planning on eating 8-10 potatoes a day, to stay between 1200-1500 calories.

Oh, and my starting weight this morning--204.6

Nope! Going to try this without the rotations--I can't imagine eating 1900 calories worth of potatoes and vinegar. I just had another small potato for a snack.....I'm really liking the taste of vinegar.

Yeah, 1900 would be super easy if I could have butter, sour cream, and bacon on them!

I had lunch an hour ago and I'm still stuffed.....So far, it looks like about 500 calories. I don't think I can do another potato today. I have to say though, baking them and eating them cold the next day gives them a luscious, silky kind of texture that I'm kinda diggin'. Too bad I can't mix in a little mayo to jazz it up a bit. Salt, vinegar, and mustard are going to be my best friends for the next few days.

Not feeling too well today--headache and super-bloat. I could hardly get my ring on my finger this morning. I know I had a LOT of salt and vinegar yesterday, so I'm going to try to cut that down today. Weight actually went up today to 205.1 which I find strange because I held my calories at less than 500. I'm chalking it up as water....maybe TOM, as that is this week too. Going to keep pushing on though--have a cold baked potato ready w/mustard, and a smear of mashed w/malt vinegar to hold me untl dinner tonight, which I'm sure will be......potatoes.

I hope so too, Monica....I'd like to at least get down to 200 so it gives me a fresh start on trying my rotations again. I'm still freakin' bloated like you wouldn't believe! I had some mint tea this morning, and a 1/2 cup of mashed potatoes in chicken broth and my pants are tiiiiiiiigggghhhhttt!! I really hope this goes away soon. If it's the potatoes doing this, I'll be sad.

Boo on the bloat! I've had it hangin around me too for a couple days and I can't figure out why. Feels almost like my skin is too small? Everything just feels tight and big.. meh!

Crossing fingers that the potatoes do their thing and the scale moves in the right direction for you!

Woke up with the bloat again.....scale was at 203.8 though, so hopefully this thing is working.

Had 2 small russets for breakfast. I had to force them down though, because I'm simply not hungry.....which is very, very strange for me! Monday was under 500 calories, and yesterday I barely hit 400, so I need to keep an eye on this so I don't fall into starvation mode. I fried my potatoes in a teaspoon of butter, so I hope that added fat helps a bit, but doesn't ruin my progress on this experiment.

Protein....the potatoes have a bit of it, but not much. I know there are others that have been successful with eating nothing but potatoes, but not sure if I will be one of them--My 3rd day and I feel ok, not hungry or anything but the bloaty feeling sucks. Joe texted me at lunch and said he was wanting to start eating "regular food" again, so maybe we'll stop at 4 days.

I think if anything, I may incorporate "just potatoes" for my down days--it keeps me full and within my calories. I really like the plan, but maybe doing it during the TOM wasn't the best timing.

I weighed in at 201.6 this morning! And that's with me still having the bloat. I know I told Joe this is our last potato day, but depending on how the scale looks tomorrow, I just may want to continue! I soooooo want to see the 100's again.

But....I know it's not healthy to do this potato hack longer than 14 days, so I think what I might do is take off and eat regularly on the weekend, then doing it again next week for a couple days. I really, really hope I don't gain it all back.....need to be mindful of my eating this weekend!

Well, tonight we decided to close our potato experiment with a taco pizza. But, before I ate, I stepped on the scale and saw 200.8. I'll take it!!

So, 4 pounds appear to be gone, although I'm still feeling like a big water balloon..... We indulged tonight for dinner, and I think this weekend I should be able to keep it low-key. I'm too close to Onederland that I don't want to mess this up!

I'm with Monica I could never do days of just potatoes...especially plain...I'm a cheese, and sour cream, and bacon, and salsa...and.... you name it, I prolly put it on a potato.

GREAT JOB tho..you're so close to Onederland!
