Yes Carol...you MUST try the crack slaw!

Well, the weekend was ok....I did manage to stay fairly low in calories on Saturday (around 800) and weighed in at 211 Sunday. I'm not sure if that number is going to stick so I'm not going to claim it until I see it again NEXT Sunday.

Okay, you guys have convinced me. I'll put it in the "to try soon" rotation.

Lisa, sounds like you're getting some good traction. WTG!

My fiancé is an enabler. While he's usually out of town during the week for work, he's home on vacation all week, which means my meal plan is going to be tough to stick to. I did go out to eat with him last night, and I overdid it by at least 400 calories. BUT....today I told him I don't want to go out again--at least until my doctor's appt on the 11th. That's going to suck, because we are used to going out for meals at least 3 times a week! We're going to the fair on the 11th, after my dr. appointment, so I guess I can use that as my treat....dangling the carrot, so to speak.

I didn't want to step on the scale this morning because I knew it would be bad--but I felt like I had to, in order to show myself the consequences of going off plan, even for just one day. Yep....I was at 214 this morning. Now I have to work extra hard....damn *kicking myself for not making better choices*

Oh well...looking forward and moving onward!

It must be a double edged sword. It's wonderful that he loves you no matter what your weight is. But when he makes it tough to stick to plan...ugh! Well, enjoy your week together, and you can get back on plan next week.

It is a tough battle indeed. I know I have struggled lately due to DH's lack of focus on the plan. He has put on probably 20 of the 40 pounds he has lost. Is it his fault I am not able to stick with it...NO, but watching him enjoy a DD with food, makes it hard for me to stick to my guns! Still my issue, So I completely understand. Does your Fiance need to lose weight? I know if he doesn't, that makes it even more difficult!

Funny thing is, we both started our weight loss goals around the same time. He lost 90 pounds in the past 2 years and is at goal (by doing a "loose" version of Atkins). He actually wants to lose a few more pounds for good measure! So here I am, losing and gaining the same stupid 5 pounds, wondering when things are going to "kick in". I've been counting my calories and sticking to 1500 and under (except for the times that Joe and I go out to eat) plus exercising. I'm going in on Tuesday for fasting labs - which will include thyroid testing. We'll see...I just might have no other option than to do Atkins again, and risk failure--it seems like I'm failing on a weekly basis anyways!

Today's weigh-in is at 211. Will that number stick around? We'll see.

You know, I thought about switching to low carb again. I just seem to be struggling with it all lately. Shooting for a good DD today, if not, then I will switch to LC! See where that takes me

I'm waiting to go to my lab appointment at 3, and I've had nothing but water since 6pm last night....and ya know what? It's been a breeze so far. My self control is so out of whack--I can only fast when my DOCTOR tells me I NEED to, but when I'm trying to do it for ME, I fail. hmmph.

I've been thinking about what I want to gorge on when I can finally eat--funny thing is, all I can think of is a big salad. haha....it's been a weird day.

(Still, I'm hoping that my cravings don't change once I walk out of the doc's office, and I actually *do* fill up on a big salad. It would be a good step in the right direction).

Finally, some good news--my blood work is almost perfect, which is surprising to me (especially cholesterol) My blood pressure was 121/80 and my doc gave me permission to go off my meds for 2 months to see if I can maintain it! What's even better than everything is...we went to the fair last night--I was good with eating (only had a few cheese curds and zucchini sticks) and today I'm at 209! Gotta keep going, and my sweetie is going to help me with getting back to low carb, starting tomorrow!

Wonderful results, Lisa. Especially being off the BP meds! I'll bet having some concerted support with LC will really help. Good luck!

I'm slowly weaning myself off the carbs--I have a few TV dinners to clean out, so I'll have one for my lunches this week, and I think that's just about it for "bad carbs" in the house. I can't look at the scale this week and get discourged--TOM is coming and I feel like a water balloon...lol

I'm "egg"cited to start eating loads of eggs again for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I want! Love eggs!

My doc warned me of this, but I was still shocked.....I gained 11 pounds in a matter of 4 days after getting off my BP med. Good news is that 10 of those pounds disappeared, and I'm teetering between 209 and 210 today. I guess my body had to adjust a little, and boy did it adjust! LOL

Yep, I'm happy to be off it--hopefully at my next appt, my blood pressure will still be good! I think now I am ready to go back to low-carb. I actually had the best meal last night from our garden--cherry tomatoes, kohlrabi and green beans dipped in creamy italian dressing, and swiss chard scrambled with 3 eggs! I thoroughly enjoyed that meal, so that's going to be my "go-to" meal for a while!

For the most part, I've started low-carb...however, I encountered an issue last night at dinner--baby red potatoes came with our "date night" dinner. I'm so proud of myself--I filled up on salad, had two bites of my steak, one baby red, and took the rest to go. THEN, this morning, I had one bite of steak, 2 baby reds, and brought the rest to work for lunch. I just ate the rest, which was 6 bites of steak, 2 baby reds, and a few sauteed pea pods. I've never made a steak dinner last for 3 meals! And I'm not feeling deprived at all.

Tonight we're meeting friends for dinner at a british pub--I'm fully expecting to give in to "fish n' chips", but let's see if I can split that meal up too!

As I mentioned before, it's much tougher for me to stick to plan when my sweetie is home...we eat meals out quite a bit. I'd hate to see what we spend a year on going out to eat.....Come Monday though, it's going to be my eggs and veggies staple!

Hope you all have a nice weekend!

Look up the menu at the PUB and see what LC options they have. Go in with a plan then Fish/Chips don't have to be what you eat!!! Just a thought!

Splitting the meal is such a great idea. None of us would likely need to even think about LC if we ate much smaller portions of everything. As long as you're feeling satisfied and non-deprived, this could really work!

Whew...been a while, but the wait has been worth it! I've been holding steady at 209 for the past week, so I'm claiming it!

I've been doing ok with eating....actually been sticking to it, and enjoying what I'm eating. My staples are fresh veggies from the garden, smoked string cheese from one of our great Wisconsin dairies, eggs, and cauliflower mashed w/cream cheese. Oh, and homemade brats and meat sticks that my sweetie smoked!

Been busy with "work" things, but I need to try to make time (or not forget) to visit here, because every time I do, I get a burst of confidence that I CAN DO THIS.

Still Pluggin' away! Today the scale says 207, but I'll believe it when I see it again on Sunday! I didn't get to drink much water yesterday, so that's probably why....that darn water weighs a lot! LOL

Fighting the urge to grab a package of Ho-Hos from the vending machine.....

Nooooooooo! Step away from the HoHos! If you're going to have something sugary, have something really good, like a See's truffle (or whatever brand you love). Make it really worth the splurge!
