Sunday weigh-in day and I FINALLY got off that stinkin' 210! Saw 209 today, so I'm praying that number doesn't move up with this week's TOM. Last couple rotations were perfect, so I need to stick to it and set a realistic goal to see 209 or 208 by next Sunday!

Oh, another thing I've started the past couple days is fill up a 1/2 gallon water bottle (yeah, it's huge..lol) with diluted Crystal Light and drink 2 of them throughout the day. My kidneys are wondering what the heck is going on..... haha

Lisa, congratulations! You're in a new decade!

Good job on drinking all that water. Gosh darnit, I keep saying I'm going to drink more (iced tea) and then I just don't get it done. Gotta work on that.

Well, the celebrating didn't last long--back up to 211 for today's weigh-in. I have to stop sabotaging myself--I know I'm doing it, but for some reason I'm letting myself indulge and comfort myself with food that I should NOT be eating--and even more importantly, I'm eating to the point of being so stuffed that I feel horrible the rest of the day. I feel sick to my stomach that all this time I've been bouncing around the same 2 pounds when I could have been making real progress and been UNDER 200 by now. I have a Dr. appt this week, and I don't know if she can prescribe something...anything....but I'm going to ask for help. I need to break the cycle.

Morning, Lisa. I hear you on the "sabotage" aspect...I have been wondering the same thing myself lately. I seem to go up & down within the same 5 lb range, and it's almost like I get "scared" once I approach a new lower weight. I have also eaten several times to the point of being uncomfortably full...did it yesterday, as a matter of fact.

I am wishing you good things this week, lady!

Good luck getting through this struggling period, Lisa. We all go through it, and I'm coming to believe that the only way is to just push through it until somehow it gets easier again. Why do our bodies fight us so? Wahhhhh!

I hope the Dr. can provide some help. Let us know!

I forgot to report in for Sunday weigh-day. Still stuck at 211. Doctor appt went alright, except that my high blood pressure is "higher" than it usually is, even though I take meds to regulate it. Losing weight is probably the only thing that will work for that now. My doc wants to put me on Qsymia, which is a combination of Phentermine and Topiramate, but she can't do that until my BP is controlled at a safe level. Was going to give Orlistat a try but found that Alli had a recall a couple weeks ago and pulled it from the shelves. So....I need to see how long I can stick to 1200 calories a day, and 30 minutes exercise every other day. Doesn't look that difficult in black and white, but if I know myself, I will have every excuse in the book to NOT succeed. It's horrible to think that way, I know, but it's how I feel. If I can just take it day by day, step by step I can do it. I put a post-it note on the fridge "Day by Day!". Can a little piece of paper keep me motivated? We shall see.

Sorry to hear about the BP results, Lisa, and all the other "complications" going along with that. I'm sure losing the weight will resolve it, but getting there can be so tricky. You can do it!

Wow, it's been over a month since I've been here....I guess it's just as well, because nothing has changed as far as the weight loss goes, but I'm starting to be consistent in getting 30 minutes of exercise a day. Today I discovered a new bike path from my house that I can complete in about 20 minutes, so I did that today--hopefully with the weather getting warmer, it will help me get out of the house to exercise, and learn to love it. Right now, it just feels like a "chore".

I'm really struggling with the eating--I really want to try low-carb again, but my willpower falls flat on its face when I think about all the bread and pasta I'd be missing. Why is it so hard now? I've done it so many times, and had good success....just couldn't stick it out for long. I think I really need some sort of pill, or something to either cut my appetite in half, or scare me into eating healthy. Gee, you'd think with my high blood pressure that would scare me enough, but so far it's not doing much. The only thing I've done differently the past month is exercise, and cut out the coffee--the headaches are not fun.

I guess the first step is coming back, brushing the cobwebs off my journal, and telling myself that I'm going to keep trying.

Dust off the cobwebs and get back in here girl! Whatever plan you choose, just own it and go with it. Challenge yourself to 7 days at first, move forward from there.

I was just wondering about you, Lisa, so was really glad to see your post. I know how you're feeling about not quite being up to starting anything. You really do have to be mentally ready for whatever plan you choose. I hate that we all have to spend so much time thinking about it and feeling these things!

I always wished for a pill too. One that doesn't do other bad stuff. Let us know what you decide and we'll be here to cheer you on!

Thanks Monica and Carol....You've always been sooooo supportive of me, through all the stumbles! I think my first goal is to tackle the exercise to make it a regular part of the day, then worry about the eating. If I can get the exercise to become a habit, I think it will be easier for me to clean up my eating.

Probably very smart plan. Trying to incorporate too many things at one time can be a total train wreck. Good luck!

Hey, Lisa...I hope that you're having a good Thursday. I can totally relate to some of the feelings you're experiencing. I "know" what to do, but it seems like I fight myself along the way at times.

One day at a time!

Yes, one day at a time is what I need to drive into my head, over and over! So far I'm doing well with exercise--I'm enjoying getting outside and biking my customized route outside of town. My sweetie went with me yesterday and tracked it at 4.5 miles--not much for distance, but it's keeping my heart rate up with the hills and wind!

Today, I'm trying a new way of eating that will hopefully tackle my portion control issues--using the frozen "TV Dinner" type meals. I know it's probably not the healthiest way to do it, but I have to try anyways. My plan is to eat something hearty for breakfast, like oatmeal or eggs, have a frozen meal for lunch and one for dinner, supplemented with extra veggies. All of the dinners I'm using are under 400 calories, so this will really help me when calculating my intake, and hitting the goal of 1200 calories per day.

I worry about how long I can do it until I get bored, or break into binge mode....Just need to take it one day at a time, I guess.

Good luck with this new plan. There is something to be said for not having to think about what to prepare, or what to have. Just grab a box and eat!

Well, a couple weeks in with the TV dinner diet...haha I'm down 2 pounds and have consistently been at 212; however, the weekends are bad--I was up to 215 on Sunday most likely due to my eating on Fri/Sat. It's hard to diet when your counterpart works out of town during the week and all you can think of doing together on the weekends is enjoying a nice meal at our favorite place. It's weekend sabotage at its finest. I'm working on it though--this weekend I'm going to try the JUDDD approach just on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - Friday have my indulgent fish fry, Saturday keep it to under 500 cals, then Sunday enjoy some luxuries and get right back to the TV Dinners by Monday. Surely I can handle one Fast day on Saturday!

Oh, we went thrift saling last weekend and I picked up an unopened box of this Ecodrink Energy--I love this stuff so far. It came with a bottle that you mix a packet into with water, but I put the packet in a larger water bottle and sip it throughout the day. I'm really getting my water in now! Past couple days I've been over 100 ounces, which is amazing for me....lol...a plus is that it's full of vitamins.

Will report back in another week or so--Don't think I'm not reading up on everyone! I do come here often, just don't post all that much. Maybe if I had some spectacular things to say, but lately it's been same ol' same ol'....

I use the TV dinners as portion control--it's easy for me to do it during the week, when I don't have to worry about feeding someone else. I've been able to stick to 1200-1500 calories a day during the week, but I blow it out of the water on weekends, tracking over 3000 calories sometimes.

I'm hoping to stick to it long enough to see if it's truly helping--the sodium in those meals is NOT good for my high blood pressure, but if I can lose 20 pounds, my BP will be lower. So it's a catch-22.

Sunday weigh-in holding steady at 212.....I guess that's an achievement, since TOM is here. I did alright with eating on the weekend, but wasn't able to stick to 500 on Saturday. I'm going to give it another shot this weekend.

Wish it would stop raining so I can get my bike ride in tonight! I'm starting to miss it when I can't do it!

I bet things will get so much better once TOM has cleared out. It just changes everything. Blech!

I keep asking everyone who's getting all this rain to send some my way. Seems like it doesn't work that way.

The ground here is so saturated that we have water in our basement. A lot of our wooden shelves are ruined, and we just can't keep up with the vacuuming. I'm getting some good exercise going up and down the stairs.

Just out of curiousity, I peeked at the scale--I'm at 213 now, so Carol, I hope you're right when you bet that things will get better once TOM is gone!

Great mini-weigh-in! I just have the feeling it's only going to get better and better!

The flooding in your basement sounds awful. I really miss having the extra storage of a basement, but that's the kind of thing I don't miss having to deal with.

Last night I made a huge batch of "crack slaw"--just hamburger, cabbage, coconut oil and Lawry's ... so freakin' good! I brought some for lunch today in place of my TV dinner, and as I ate it, thought back on my low-carb days and how much it helped me (if only I could have stuck with it...)

I'd like to try Atkins again, but I'm so afraid of failing yet again. I don't know HOW I fail, because I absolutely love eggs, meat, and veggies. I guess it's just that I love bread, potatoes, and ice cream more.... I think I'm going to try taking away ONE carby delight and see how I do for the next 2 weeks.

POTATOES....you are the weakest link. Goodbye.
