My ticker is from lily something. It says on the top of the ticker. I couldn't get any of the ones from ticker factory to load so I looked elsewhere.
I have about 20 mins left of work now. I am WORN out. I did weigh a few minutes ago and in back down to my lowest so hopefully my hormones won't be playing any games making me gain water the next few days ![]() |

Hey girls.
Breakfast 4 small pieces of bacon 3 TBSP HWC in coffee 1 TBSP coffee creamer Snack 4 clouds Lunch 1 avocado 2 TBSP peanut butter Total: 1270 calories My fat grams say 85 but it didn't load the bacon nutritional info so it's got to be way more than that. Protein is only at 11 without the bacon. My carbs are a bit high due to the avocado but I overestimated the size of it so I would err on the side of caution. Calories feel a bit high for only being 2:45pm but I'm burning so much energy at work today running around like a nutcase. I've already done 3 sets of gel nails and ran up and down the stairs like 8 times. GAH! Even after just eating that avocado and peanut butter, I feel like my blood sugar is quite low ![]() Check back in in about 2 hrs!

your protein should be higher than that if you had 3 eggs and 4 pieces of bacon.
EDIT: oh, are you writing out the numerical version of your percentages? so you had 86.1% fat, 10.4% protein and 3.1% carbs? Last edited by manders; 09-05-2012 at 02:03 PM.. |

here is an interesting read about protein percentages and how to figure them out by Rebecca Latham:
"Well, I'll tell you how I got to my grams of protein, and then you can decide if it is a system you want to use or not. The first thing I did was to figure out my ideal weight based on my height. I used Dr. Jan Kwasniewski's method for figuring out my ideal weight. The basic premise is this: First, you figure out how many grams of protein you should be eating based on Dr. Kwasniewski's formula. Then you use these ratios to figure out how many grams of fat and grams of carbs you should be eating: For every gram of protein you eat, you should be laso eating 2.5 to 3.5 grams of fat and 0.5 grams of carbs. PROTEIN : FAT : CARBS 1 : 2.5 - 3.5 : 0.5 I'll use myself as an example and show you how I came up with my numbers. I am 5'3" tall, which is the same as 160 cm. To arrive at my "due body weight", I subtract 100 cm from my 160 cm, and I get 60 cm. The number 60 is now the amount of kilograms I should weigh. I decided a while back that I wanted to weigh 132 pounds with 25% body fat. And guess what! My goal weight of 132 pounds equals 60 kg, which is exactly what Dr. Kwasniewski's says I should weigh! Interesting... He says that you should eat that same number of grams of protein each day, give or take 10%. I tried it with adding 10%, making my grams of protein 66, but I did not lose weight doing that, so now I am trying it the other way - 60g of protein minus 10%, which is 54. I am now eating 54 grams of protein per day. Another method is to use Phinney and Volek's calculator - eat 0.6 to 1.0 gram of protein per pound of goal lean body mass. Using me again as an example, with a goal weight of 132 and a desired body fat percentage of 25, I would be 99 pounds of lean mass and 33 pounds of body fat. So I should eat between 59 and 99 grams of protein per day. As I mentioned before, eating more protein did not work for me, so I am staying at the low end. Just for fun, I also looked up the RDA for protein for a woman. Interestingly, they do not go by height and the RDA for a woman is 46 grams of protein per day. Keep in mind that the RDA is based on the amount you need to avoid disease, not for optimal health. I think that number is pretty low, especially for a taller woman. The chart in the new Atkins book says a woman my height should eat between 71 and 149g of protein per day. That's a pretty large range, and I can't imagine that 149g of protein per day for a little woman like me would be the right thing to do! Summary: 54-66g - Kwasniewski 59-99g - Phinney/Volek 46g - RDA 71-149g - Atkins I chose the first one, because I've tried eating more, and I did not lose weight. Going on the premise that I may have been eating too much protein, I'm trying the lower end."

That's really interesting! I don't quite understand the calculations but I think her referring to pounds and kilograms was what threw me off. I get the gist of it. The ont thing for me is I don't know how much body fat I will have at 145. I don't really have a percent goal. I just want to be skinny LOL. The protein for Atkins is insanely high to me. I could see eating up to 90 grams when you are maintaining but that's it. I float around 50 on days I eat lots of fiber and about 60 grams on other days when I am not Doing lots of fiber. I would be afraid to even change anything now since it works so well ![]()

Ja, I figured mine out....an american lbs is 2.2 to a kilogram.....
according to them my goal weight should be 143lbs which is 65kg with about 25% lbm I think 25% is a good look for women, not boney. So my protein in the one is 65gr and the other 64.75 on the low end 107.25gr on the high Fat is 146.25gr - 204.75 gr Carbs is 29.25gr (I almost never go over 20) LBM was 120 in one and 107.25 on the other.....bit diff I found that very interesting.....some stuff I am dead on and others I am off, but not going to up my carbs. Haven't had meat yet so my protein I think is going to end up being dead on. Well, I just checked and I am at 50gr for protein after dinner. So I am on the low end but that is also fine with me... |

Junkn=
158cm with 25%BF 158 * .25= 39.5 158 - 39.5 = 118.5 Goal BM (u already weigh less then this!!!! so I wil luse ur weight) 114* .6 = 68.4gr low range protein 114* 1 = 114gr high range protein 68.4gr protein * 2.5 = 171 gr fat low range 68.4gr protein * 3.5 = 239.4gr fat high range 68.4gr protein * 0.5 = 34.2 gr of carbs (not net carbs just carbs __________________________________________________ ____________________ Last edited by Flavia; 09-05-2012 at 04:08 PM.. |

My you all are chatty!! Love it!!
If you can figure out your lean mass that is the upper limit in protein that is recommended in 'the art and science..'book. so .06-1gram per lb of lbm. for me, I can have 81-135 grams of protein. (according to the book) I'm ok with going a little lower if need be. I need to focus on diet more than ever. Got some not so good news at the doc today but it's ok. Because now I have a more definitive diagnosis and I can go from here. It's my back. And I have to get tested for RA amongst other things. Coupled with two bad knees I am limited by what I can do in the gym lately..but maybe someday I can work my back up to the level I'm used to working in with some modifications of course. ok, here are my foods! 6 slices of bacon 2oz cream cheese mixed with 1 laughing cow(cinammon kind!) 10 black olives 1oz mixed nuts 1 cup cauli w/2tbsp ranch *none of this makes sense,, But I spent all morning in an urgent care clinic then came home to cram food before rushing out the door again to my appt., lol 1.5oz mixed nuts 7oz beef cubes 1 tbsp ccn oil 2oz cream cheese 1tbsp almond butter Calories-1680 Protein- 61 Fat- 143 Carbs-35 Fiber- 10 |

Junkn, its just a general guideline from diff Dr. like phinney and volek etc...
it mostly doesn't apply to you anyways because u already weigh less then they recommend... I will keep doing what I am doing, but I thought it was good to know where we stand and what I will eventually aim for as I go toward maintenance.... |
