Boys are back in Town

I don't see (m)any men in this journal section. But I think I belong. I'm going to journal away.

1 Year ago I was a rock....I was close to my college-days weight and was exercising 3-5 times a week.

Then I fell off the wagon. Stopped the low-c-diet, starting drinking too much and made way too many runs to the Border.

I gained 60 pounds in one year!!!

So this is going to be a challenge: I'm swearing off the juice and I'm starting over. It's Day 1. Induction. Today.

Let's do this!

Thanks!

Thanks ladies!

It's worked for me in the past...so I'm a believer.

I'm 24 hours into it...with no signs of induction flu. I suspect by this evening I'll be feeling it.

Ah...yes...just down the highway a stretch from me. They are having a big air show there this weekend.

36 hours in

Weird

I've lost 4 pounds...which I'm sure is mostly water weight...but no headaches and only mild induction flu so far.

36 hours more into it... I expected to feel worse.

I hope you escape without catching the flu!

And losing water weight counts for me! I get upset if I gain water weight, so I get happy when I lose it!

Thanks!!!

I've found from the past (both doing it right and doing it wrong) that if I really do it absolutely by the book...it's easy and I feel great!

And I feel just super!!! Why was I avoiding this!? What was I thinking??!?

Induction flu never really hit. Weight: 229. 7 pounds lost...50 to go.

226. I've lost 9 pounds so far...in just 8 days. This is going faster than previous inductions (I've probably launched Atkins a dozen previous occasions). I probably should subtract 5 lbs for water weight and conclude that I'm losing .5 pound per day. That's a pace I'd be ecstatic to maintain.

And I haven't even started my exercise program yet!

I suspect what's helping me speed things up is:
-Less cheese/creamer/eggs this time
-No nuts
-More fish

I've probably averaged under 10 carbs per day, and only about 1,000 calories a day. Not ever really hungry, except the day after I indulged in vodka-based drinks. That was a stupid cheat and I paid for it the day after. I want to stay clear of the fire water.

Tomorrow I'll start to add a little broccoli and cauliflower into the diet.

Despite my weight loss I'm disappointed about 2 things.

1. I need to get back into good exercise habits and I haven't even started. In the past I can get in a groove where it easy for me to exercise 4-6 hours a week...month after month. I am far from that groove right now.

2. On 3 occasions since starting I've had 3-5 vodka drinks. Liquor effects me 3x more when I'm on this diet. ...and today I actually suffered something of a hangover because of the combined diuretic effects of the diet and last night's alcohol. At this point in my life I just am better off not drinking at all. It always seems to snowball or precipitate poor decisions.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. But I still haven't done it yet. Been under the weather...once I feel better...I WILL resume.

Today's Weight: 222.5...I've lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks.

221 today. I can't believe how fast the pounds are falling off.

I've lost 14 pounds in 16 days. And I never feel hungry.

One thing I've learned from past low-carb experiences. Cheating...even a little...just isnt' worth it. If I do the diet exactly as prescribed it's super easy and...even...pleasant. And the sooner I reach my goal the sooner I can begin maintenance...and fit back in my clothes!

Otherwise one is jumping in and out of ketosis and the body is tossed around log a rag doll, not knowing if it should or shouldn't expect some carbs.

Crazy as it sounds, I want to slow my weight loss. I've had some dizziness and weakness and am most concerned about overall health and vitality.

So I'm going to introduce more veggies and larger portions.

Today: Salmon filet, seared chicken breast, broccoli w/cheese.

Well...I did slow my weight loss as desired...but too much. I've only lost 2 pounds in the past two weeks.

221 now. 14 pounds lost in one month.

Time to look myself in the mirror. I've only lost 1 pound in 7 weeks because I've not been living right.

Weight: 220

I need 21 days to form new habits. Starting today.

The past 5 weeks have been chaotic...including a relocation.

But the good news is that my weight is now 210. So in 5 weeks I've lost 10 pounds.

I've been eating lots of salads, which is good! But I need to watch the dairy and soy...both which stall me out.

But I still want to get into a consistent exercise routine.

Long time post...but still progressing

199 LBs. The important thing is that I've started (a little) to get exercise and recreation.

I've lost 35 and have 20 more to lose. It's time to push this into overdrive!

Wow…I got away from posting. A quick review: I lost another 8 pounds between June and October. But then fell off the wagon.

I sit at 210 now. After I move into my new digs, I'll start Atkins again. I want to get down to 180-185 and then maintain.

Goal: Lose 30.

I'm thinking of using Atkins induction but then switching into Paleo after a month or two.
