I have backed off on the coconut oil a little, just to see what difference it makes for me.
So far, I am hungrier today. ![]() I think I will have some tonight! |

Ya that head hunger is a nightmare sometimes. When its true head hunger not mixed with real hunger (cos that combo is pretty impossible to stave off), I tend to drink a big thing of water with lemon in it and go DO something (clean the bathroom, put away laundry and other really fun stuff). The combo of something pressing on the vagus nerve in my tummy (water), with the distraction seems to do the trick.
Glad the hear the scale is dropping for you and you are enjoying being full! |

Thanks Tig!
I am enjoying this. Last night to quell the head hunger I took two tablespoons of heavy cream and mixed in a little SF Suisse Mocha coffee mix. Tasted like melted ice cream and satisfied my hungries. I'll have to remember this one. |

Ohh good idea! Sounds yummy! I like cream mixed with cocoa and stevia (or whatever sweetener) - super rich and yum. Although it just makes me more hungry soooo not good for me really. Its weird, but if I start snacking, it leads to more snacking. Damn you insulin response

Woke up early today with a headache. Wanted to sleep in because today is my day to sleep in but that didn't happen. It's so dry and hot here and we have storm fronts moving through - hence the headache - but no rain. My year looks like a pitiful brown pile of straw. My landlord, bless him, loves to cut the grass whether it need it or not and I am not convinced it is dead. We desperately need rain!

Today I am still doing well with my eating. Surprised myself a little with that and both K and P have made comments about my eating habits. Nothing mean, just that I am eating less in general and not snacking which is a big thing for me. I have kept strictly on plan for almost two weeks now and feel great.
I still have the head hunger and I don't know if that will ever go away. Staying LC helps me to deal with that as well as the high fat diet. Adding coconut oil has been super beneficial as well. I take a tablesppon in the morning and at night. I don't get hungry like I used to and feel great. Even though the scale is not moving like I would like it to - I am focusing on the feeling great. |

Tini
no fat whoosh. The scale is NOT MOVING Stoopid scale.Danielle, that's awesome the your body is changing even though the scale is not. Maybe that's what is happening to me too ... I hope so anyway. I honestly do feel better eating this way and love adding the coconut oil to my diet. My daily calories average about 1700 and my fat averages about 70% of that. Theoretically, I should be losing weight. I'm not. I've tried lowering the calories, but with the higher fat, it is hard to do. |

Well, it's becoming obvious to me after hanging out a little on the EFGT threads that I need to reduce my caloric intake. 1700 is too much for someone my height (5'2").
I am going to start by trying to work this at 1500 and go from there. Wish me luck! |

JanetI remember once upon a time when I was tracking calories that you can eat a fair bit of food that is high fat for 1500 cals. Also, if you are eating high fat, often you may find that your appetite isn't huge, so your portions become fairly small because they are calorie dense. Wishing you luck on the new experiment! |

Thanks Tig!
Yesterday I kept my calories to 1400. Yay, that's a big deal for me! Unfortunately most of what I ate was loaded with sodium, so my scale is up today. No matter, I now know that I can eat less than 1700 calores a day and not feel deprived or starved. And get my coconut oil in too. Yesterday I ate: B - Coffee w/ HWC L - Omelette w/ bacon and american cheese D - bratwurst, hotdogs, saurkraut and fried cheese OMG - fried cheese!!! I was looking for Hollumi cheese but my regular store doesn't have it. I will probably have to look in a specialty store. I did get a nice block of queso fresco and fried it all up in slices. Heaven. That's all I can say. Of course with all the bacon, hotdogs, bratwurst, and cheese I think I ate triple the amount of salt you are supposed to eat in a day but it was SO GOOD! |

Fried cheese is delish! Did you know you can use it to make your own salad bowls for tacos, tuna, etc? Sprinkle shredded cheese lightly in your pan so it has a lacy effect and then lift it out and drape it over a small bowl sprayed with PAM. Wait a few minutes, lift it off gently and instant cheese bowl! It works great with shredded cheddar but you can use just about anything.

Mmmmm fried cheese! One of our absolute favorites. We love to flame it with 151 Rum, too!
Also try Raclette cheese. Equally delish! I make a couple of diced up string cheeses last night breaded and oven fried and they turned out so good. I served them with some of the roasted grape tomatoes hangin' out in the fridge. We had hot dogs and snausages too last nite. No worries mon. It's definitely the sodium from your delicious and fantastic sounded salt fest yesterday!!! |

Tini, I skip breakfast. So about 200 for my cream and coconut oil for breakfast.
That leaves me about 600 for each meal. The more fat I eat, the less hungry I really am and the less it takes to fill me up. That's been a learning experience for sure. I am used to just piling food on the plate - it's low carb, I should be able to have seconds and thirds. Unfortunately that's not working out so good. Great for maintenance, not great for weight loss. I really want to stick to the lower calorie/high fat for a while. JUDDD worked great for me for a short time until the carbs sucked me under and I started binging. With this, I'm still low carb, so hopefully I will see results. Fingers crossed. |

Well, what do you know?
I am down to 177 today ![]() I started the week at 179, saw a bounce to 180 from all the salt I ate and now the scale is down. Makes me very happy! I think this way of eating is working for me. However TOM is a week late. I have no symptoms though and wonder if I am going to get it at all this month. If not, that's ok by me! |
