I had the tiniest piece of bread I still have that new yellow bikini to wear and I will be all bloated, LOL And one drink, I had such big plans to be drunk to celebrate, Tony is like you are such a big talker LOL. That new malibu red knocked me with one drink it is coconut rum with tequila added I put it over diet sprite, low carb and yummy and 70 proof so one is good!!!

So now I can focus on the trip, today is the endo to review blood work, she will see I am fatter than in March, then hair and it better not be purple, then getting my lump drained, then I can pack! Tomorrow is nails and threading of my brows, I am liking the threading she shapes my eyebrows well.

Ok kids, I am off to see what the doc says about all those tests!

So the endo not so good, she is like I never delivered these good reports and had someone be upset, I said I wanted you to say there was a reason I cant seem to lose weight when I work out like a nut. She said everything was really good, cholesterol 129, triglycerides, HDL, LDL whatever all really good, thyroid is fine, so she said it could one of several things, she thinks it is the quitting smoking-- she said there are definitive changes to metabolism when you quit smoking hence the usual weight gain. I am eating more than I think- I am pretty careful and usual about stuff I am eating, now vacations forget it, but day to day I pretty much keep track, exercise- I think I do plenty of that, she is not a pure low carb advocate and wants me to try eating more fruit and grains, and less fat and see if that makes me lose, I said how do you account for me losing over 130 pounds eating low carb? She thinks I could have possibly just whacked my system up good. Frankly I feel better eating fruit and some grains to exercise harder so I am not in total disagreement of that. I said that it seems if I do low carb after some time I drop a bunch of weight but then it doesn't move again. She really wants me to try eating less calories and less fat, I am undecided about that. So I have no answers, she said no to metformin again since my blood sugar and all that is fine. THe PS thinks I need to be grateful for where I am and embrace that I am not going to be rail thin, he thinks I look good, and he said if you gained 10 pounds and quit smoking, who cares, the smoking is terrible and better to get that 10 off eventually than to smoke. I said it is just frustrating how I have to be so careful, like I told the endo about gaining on vacation, she said there is a slew of metabolic disorders that people have and they cant treat, she said I think you are one that is always going to struggle, yeah me!

So I guess I enjoy myself over these next 2 weeks and come home 300 pounds cause I had a drink everyday, and then worry I don't know, I am just ticked.

Hair is fine, no purple, mani/pedi done, got threaded, holy mother that threading on your lip kills, way worse than a Brazilian wax, LOL Did all my errands cause I have to seriously pack tomorrow, I am beat!!!

Oh man. Hon! So here's questions for you!!!

#1 Did they check your Reverse T3? Sometimes low carb can mess that up. Mainstream docs are resistant to checking that level.

#2 Have you ever done Stillman's style or maybe calorie cycling?

#3 A mouth swab is more telling of cortisol than urine.

Sooooo. I am working with someone as a mentor about resetting my Circadian Rhythms. The result is supposed to be less inflammation, weight loss, appetite suppression, better sleep, better blood sugar control, etc.

You have an eating window. You eat to your hunger. But you MUST stick to your eating window and sleep schedule. Every day. Day in. Day out.

Wanna do it with me?

The eating window is 11am to 7pm. Sleep at 11pm and wake the same time every day. I wake at 6am. Early days yet, but I think it's going pretty well. Zero hunger as of day 3. I'm having to force myself to eat for the first time since chemo. Seriously. The scale hasn't moved yet, but I FEEL skinnier. So I think it's gonna happen.

You can have non-caloric drinks outside of your window: water, plain tea, plain coffee, etc.

Ditto! When I stalled for 6 months and started cycling, it kick started me again. Up carbs on the weekends followed by a "zero" carb day then regular low carb the rest of the week. Also, I don't know how much you are exercising, but extreme exercising can slow the metabolism. The last time I quit smoking, I didn't gain weight. I heard the slowdown is just temporary anyway?

Congrats on passing the test!!

I had to drop my calories and fat to start losing again. Within a week I saw a difference although it has slowed again and I'm losing .4 pounds a week according to WW online. At least I'm not gaining anything back though. I definitely have metabolism issues but nothing ever comes up on the thyroid screens. I worry though because my mom had thyroid cancer and my sister has had two nodes. All three of us have weight problems that started in middle age.

Die grapefruit soda! That would be sooo good. I love diet tonic water. I'm not into the mixed drinks at all, just love my chardonnay, but sometimes I like to have the diet tonic with lime and lots of ice. So refreshing! Once in a blue moon I will add a little gin but usually just on holiday weekends. I'm so weird. I always buy gin on Memorial day and Labor day. So bizarre I know. DH teases me and says "You know you can buy it other times of the year right?" But something about summer holiday weekends says "gin" to me.

Have a fabulous vacation! I can't wait to see pictures!! Is it just you, Bobby and your mom?

Hi Amber,

Have you noticed my Kwasnewski's Optimal Diet thread has died out? I swear, I can't eat fat anymore and lose weight. I have tried every which way to make it work. I can do low carb high fat and maintain, but not lose. When I tried low protein high fat (fat fast), I could not believe how much weight I gained as soon as I went off of it. I am sure my body just ate up my muscles and dehydrated while I did that.

I am down to eating very low fat, low carb (not too unlike Dukan, BTW, except there is no way I am touching fiber), and I will carb up for endurance exercise or I will crap out if I don't.

I eat super high calcium--a lot of fat free greek yogurt, the way other people use whey shakes. I find that whey shakes are waaaaaay less satisfying than greek yogurt. It digests too fast and I'm hungry again. I eat a lot of vegetables too, and 3 eggs every other day (sometimes every day). I reserve eating regular food just for two meals per week.

Did you notice Nikki from our old daily weighers thread losing weight on weight watchers? I think maybe something changes after a lot of weight loss and maybe we do have to kick over to something else. I hate to say it, but it seems to be true. Gosh, she is in the 180s now!!!

I'm off for water exercises in the pool and then a pedicure. No doctor or therapy appts for 4 days...Yay. Hubby is really good about working the hand at home.

Sorry they didn't find any reason with the load tests. I'm with the others, what thyroid tests did they run?

It may be body resetting after not smoking...who knows....

KT- that is interesting about the fat, yeah I am debating what to do, I was doing pretty good eating healthy carbs when I was working out really hard and I did manage to lose, I was doing pretty well maintaining and now this sudden gain I am guessing it has to do with quitting smoking, but I am not happy I can feel it now and after all I have been through there is no way I am going to let this pikle back on, so when I get back I am going to get strict with something, gotta figure out what I guess. I told Bobby that he must get up and run with me on vacation or go to the gym, LOL. I am not running alone down there.
Laura- that is funny about the gun, I love icepicks, gin and diet tea!! I like all light liquor, LOL No whiskey or bourbon! Yes it is just me and Mom and Bobby Tony gets to stay home and work! But then we get home and 5 days til Cancun! I have my sisters dog the pug the week we get back, the kids wanted to watch him, I said you will get paid, but if I find crap you missed you owe me $5 per pile, this is a good lesson for them about wanting a dog!! LOL

I am getting stokked!!! I have everything packed, the greatest thing about losing weight? When your clothes are not the size of a 6 person tent, you can take a lot more stuff, LOL

Ok kids I am offically anxious to get there, and get out of dodge, poor hubby he was so lovey he is like I am going to miss you, I feel bad leaving him, but I told him we will have great fun soon in Mexico, he is such a good guy! I am trying to make things easy for him this week with having everything done before I leave.
