Oh my gosh.. I hear that surgery is no fun. I hope it solves your constant problems though!!

I probably need it also, according to my ENT, but I have panic attacks when I can't breathe out of my nose, so it will most likely never happen. Have you had any problems with the packing being in there?

Thanks everyone for your get well wishes and thoughts!!! It means a lot to me

I am recovering each day. The surgery itself wasn't so bad - the next week was pretty nasty.

Deb, the packing stayed in from Wednesday til the following Tuesday, so almost a week. The packing is the worst part! You know it's in there and it causes constant pressure. Not really pain, just pressure in your nose and slight headache in your forehead. You have to sleep sitting up in a recliner because you can't breathe through your nose. The removal of the packing was by far the most painful part of the whole experience. I took 2 vicodin an hour before I went and he sprayed stuff up both nostrils to numb me. He pulls out the packing that is kind of stuck in all your scabs and wounds from surgery It didn't take super long, but it felt like forever. I just closed my eyes and tried to relax because I knew stressing/tensing up would only make it worse. It was complete relief once it was out.

Since Tuesday my headaches are getting better and my nasal pain is also. I can tell I'm still healing because I feel little tingles in my nose. I'm definitely not 100% yet but I'm better than where I started. Nausea is my biggest enemy right now because mucus/blood keep traveling down the back of my throat and makes me gag. This is normal and should last maybe a few more days.

I would definitely do it again because the pain I had was horrible. I felt like I couldn't breathe most of the time too. Apparently it was because of the bone spur and deviated septum.

Deb, if I were you, I'd do it. Your doctor may not even do the packing!

Just realized I haven't checked in here for a long time I'm doing much better since my surgery - thank God It was the best thing I've ever done to improve my health. The pain was every single day and pretty much unbearable. Crazy that a bone spur in my nose could cause such grief. I'm so grateful to my ENT doctor who found it.

I also went off of Nexium on Monday because the side effects are just plain nasty. It keeps the acid reflux away but gosh I'm not sure if the side effects are worth it. I've been good since Monday with no reflux - keeping my fingers crossed. I know there can be some rebound reflux after quitting so I'm praying I get through it. I bought some Maalox Max and Gaviscon just in case.

My diet since the surgery and vacation was less than perfect I was eating lots of processed crap and didn't really care. I weighed on Monday and was 203.6 So I decided to go back to JUDDD for a while and see how I do. I also have HCG1234 drops if I ever want to jump back on the wagon. So Monday was my first DD and it went pretty good. I've followed it all week but yesterday was an UD and I only got in 1400 calories and I need around 1900-2000. My weight this morning was 197.6 so I'm down 6.0 pounds in 4 days - not too bad. I'm sure I was holding tons of water due to carbs.

I'm also doing JUDDD with no sugar and very little starches. Sugar and starch/wheat aggravate acid reflux and make me puffy and agitated. I can already feel the difference without having sugar in my system. I'm treating it like P3. I got bloodwork done yesterday and everything came back perfect so I'm encouraged!!!!

I will try to check in more often. Today is a DD and I'm shooting for anywhere around 400-700 calories. Everyone have a great weeekend!!!!

Hi Gracie! So glad you are feeling better. WTG with losing 6 lbs in 4 days! Woo-hoo!!

That's what I shoot for on DD. I refuse to be miserable on a DD. I cannot really tell you exactly what I'm doing, but I consistently lose 2 lbs a week. I can't hope for more than that

Hi Gracie!!! I know, i cannot believe it. But, I am one of those people that sets their mind to something and does it. Lol! Not taking HHCG any longer. It definitely helped get me out of my muck, but decided to stop.

So, you are doing JUDDD? I love JUDDD - it's so forgiving I may start weighing only after DDs to keep my motivation going. Today's weight was after an UD so I'm sure tomorrow's will be better as long as I stay low enough today.

I can't really say I'm doing JUDDD...but definitely close! I eat mostly in the mid-calorie level 800-1200 with a few UD's around 1500-2200 range. I don't monitor carbs or fat really any more. However, I typically do two DD's right before Wed. which is my weigh in day. Definitely a sustainable way of living!

Gracie! Welcome back! I am so happy to hear you are feeing better after that surgery! I honestly don't think I could take one hour much less a week of not breathing out my nose though. I am not in the pain you were, so I am not at the end of my rope yet..

I have gone to the ER before because of panic attacks with a stopped up nose. I feel like I am dying when I can't breathe like that.. ugh!! So I never allow myself to get that bad again. Who knows though, I may someday have it done, we shall see the options out there..

As for dieting.. fuggetaboutit!.. hahaha. if you have not been by my journal this month you won't know what I am talking about, but I have given up all forms of diets for life.. I will most definately CHEER YOU GUYS ON THOUGH!!!

Hey Gracie, so glad to see you've recovered well and posting again. You do so well on JUDDD, wish I could do DDs again...it was so freeing and forgiving. Good luck but I already know, you got this!

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm hanging in there.. my eating has be so/so. My cravings for sugar SUCK I feel so much better when I'm eating clean and staying away from processed foods and starches. Why do I continue to want brownies I had a bad week eating wise but I've been getting exercise in. I started my HCG1234 drops and going from there. I need some motivation. These drops don't have any HCG in them but I've been reading a lot of good stories about them. It's supposedly all the ingredients of what makes up HCG in our bodies without the actual hormone - it mimics it. I could use anything that will curb my sugar obsession! I dropped 2.4 lbs. since yesterday and I can tell I'm not as hungry... Trouble is we are going to the lake for the weekend which entails food and drink! I shall do my best. My DH is making beer can chicken for dinner Best tasting chicken in the world, true story!!!!

Everyone have great weekend!!!!

Take this with a grain of salt, but with good intentions..

We have to find a way to be able to LIVE our lives and work in the weight loss.. exercise is the best way to keep things going when you really want to enjoy your life! and actually EAT good stuff... how many times are we dreading going out, or doing something fun with the family because it will take us off our diets? Too many for me!!.. Anyway, just wanted to throw out support in any way possible... I understand it all. been there and done that!!

I had read that about the HHCG drops before. They trick our bodies into making our own HCG. What the heck do I know though, I read the internetssssss

Good Luck Gracie and have a marvelous weekend!!!

Thanks Deb! Honestly, if I could find a way to be able to live my life and lose weight I would!! I've been trying to find that combination for like 30 years. My problem seems to be that if I allow myself an inch, I take a mile I started the drops because I felt I was getting out of control and need to reign myself back. I've been hovering between 191-197 for about 3 years now so I think my body has set itself there. If I ever see a 2 in front of my weight I know it's time to get myself back on track. I definitelyl do need to start exercising again - especially lifting weights. I felt so good doing that. I have a gym membership so I just need to bite the bullet and go!!!

Good morning everyone. We had a beautiful weekend at the lake. I got super sunburned yesterday - didn't realize I was getting that much! Today I look like Rudolph the red nose reindeer My eating was okay and I continued to take the drops. My goal for the week is to eat clean and try to exercise a few days. I will weigh on Friday to see where I'm at.

DS has his first high school football scrimmage Saturday! He started camp last Wednesday and he goes today thru the next 2 weeks from 8 am - 5 pm

Hope everyone has a great week!

I'll be a nervous wreck for him! He's the QB and everyone is after him!!! He will start for the JV team and probably not so much play time on Varsity. He will dress though for Friday night lights!

Exercise Once I start it feels great. It's the starting I lack motivation in

Hi Jen! I'm doing great except for the sun burn My nose and forehead are on FIRE! I should know better by now.

Yep, I'm so happy that I get to start over today. Hoping to get back down where I'm comfortable and move forward from there.

Good morning Yesterday went pretty good until about 8 pm. I didn't have dinner and was hungry so I ate some of the meat lasagna that the family had I need to go shopping and get some staples so I don't just grab what's here. My weight is slowly creeping back down. My goal is to be back around 196 by Friday. Then onward and downward So far today I've only had some coffee and water plus my drops. I'm having sauerkraut and maybe fat-free hot dogs for dinner (rogue, I know). I may not weigh until Friday because the scale give me a headache. Plus TOM is on the horizon so the scale numbers will just be big lies

You ladies crack me up! The drops seem fine - I'm not hungry, just fighting sugar cravings right now. So far I've had an apple and some rice cakes. I'm actually trying to find the Omaha plan but it's no longer available on-line unless you pay for it I printed it out once but can't remember where I put it. I'm not really counting calories, just trying to keep it around 1000 or lower per day and lower fat. I need to just get into a good groove and lose 10-15 lbs. to be back where I feel more comfortable. I hate when my clothes are snug I'll keep y'all informed on how the drops are working.

omaha revisions

HERE YA GO

OWL Diet Revisions – 2012

Fat Loading
The original OWL Diet called for participants to eat fat rich foods for 2 days at the start of using Hcg shots or cream. This is no longer necessary. “Fat Loading” is not required to ensure success on The OWL Diet. For some participants it may take 2 preparatory days to read my book “The OWL Diet” and become familiar with the program. During those 2 days you may need to clear some unhealthy foods out of the kitchen and go shopping for the right ones.

Shopping List
Kitchen Items
____ Food scale to weigh 7 ounces of “meat” per day
____ 4 Cup Glass Pyrex dish for measuring vegetables
____ Non-stick cooking pans for stove-top and oven use
____ Re-useable containers for storing meal portions
____ Re-useable lunch bag, cooler for car travel, ice packs

Beverages
____ Drink water for weight loss and make this a permanent good habit. 4 to 8 large glasses of tap water, or filtered water per day (1/2 to 1 gallon per day).
____ Flavored water that is calorie free is allowed. No “Crystal Light”. Enjoy a large range of calorie free beverages, but read the label to confirm “0 Calories per serving” - such as Sobe Zero and Vitamin Water Zero.
____ Caffeine is allowed, but does not count towards your water intake. You may have hot or cold tea, and coffee. No milk or dairy is allowed. No fat free creamers.
____ Diet soda pop is not healthy, but is very addictive. Continue to consume a limited amount of diet soda pop to avoid cravings and withdrawal headaches.

Meats
You are allowed 7 ounces of meat per day – use your food scale to weigh raw meat before cooking. If frozen meat is selected, weigh after thawing and any excess moisture is drained off the meat. You may mix your meat choices in a given day. Eat approximately ½ of the meat at lunch, and ½ at dinner (or at least spread them out over the day). Cook your meats without oil. Use “PAM” non-stick spray in moderation, combined with a non-stick pan, George Foreman grill, bake in the oven, poach in water, or grill outdoors.
____ Beef – lean ground beef (97% or higher) will work and is similar in calorie to white chicken meat
____ Beef steak is limited to twice per week. On days that you choose to eat steak it is best to limit yourself to 5 oz of steak for the entire day. Only the leanest of steaks are allowed (“trim zero” – free of all visible fat) such as filet mignon, strip, sirloin or beef tenderloin.
____ Chicken – breast or tenderloin (“tenders”).
____ White Turkey – same as with chicken, remove the skin and any visible fat before cooking. Ground white turkey meat listed as 99% lean will also work, and makes nice patties.
____ Shrimp (I allow precooked shrimp, which is pink in color, and has been steamed. No calories are added during the cooking process. Weigh it as 7 oz of cooked shrimp).
____ White Fish – tilapia, orange roughy, perch, halibut, cod, catfish, northern pike (or any other white fish). Precooked tuna packed in water will work, but is a bit higher in calorie – so use it only twice per week). Salmon is healthy but not allowed, as it is too high in oil and calories. Enjoy salmon again after you have lost weight.
____white crab meat (canned or fresh, pre-cooked is fine).
____ Bison and Venison – lean cuts only
____ Scallops

Vegetarian Substitute for “Meat”
____ Beans - totaling no more than 300 calories per day, divided into 2 meals. As a rough guide, this amounts to ½ cups per day of navy, kidney or white beans. Read the labels, and keep the fat content to a minimum. Baking your own beans will be the safest way to success.
____ Tofu – 7 oz per day

Vegetables
____ Unlimited amounts of celery, green lettuce (iceberg, romaine, baby leaf, and mixes), spinach and arugula. Eat an appealing salad twice per day, with your meat selection.
____ 4 cups per day (use your 4 cup Pyrex dish)– choose from tomatoes, peppers of any color, radishes, onions, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, squash, snow peas, green beans, asparagus, cabbage, brussel sprouts, onions and mushrooms. Limit on snow peas to no more than ½ cup per day. Out of the 4 cups you will eat some of the veggies raw, add some to your salad to make it interesting, and cook the rest to be eaten at lunch and supper.
____ Dill pickles from “off the shelf” are rated zero calories, and are free. If the pickles are cold packed (kept in the refrigerator even prior to opening), then they will usually be listed as “5 calories per serving”. Dill pickles make a good snack between meals. Caution: If you have high blood pressure (hypertension) or heart failure, then you must limit your salt intake. Pickles are high in salt, and should be used with caution, or not at all.
____ Other preserves such as jalapeno peppers, yellow banana peppers or red cherry peppers are low calorie products that may be added to meals, or used as snacks. Also high in salt.

Fruits
2 Servings per day if you choose to have one approved alcoholic beverage per day.
3 Servings per day if you do not have any alcohol on that day.
Have a serving of fruit for breakfast, and the other fruit in the evening, or as a snack during the day.
One Serving of Fruit is:
____ One medium sized apple, orange, nectarine, peach or pear
____ 2 small clementine oranges (“Cuties”)
____ 1 cup fresh blueberries, raspberries, blackberries or sliced strawberries
____ 1 & ½ cup of diced melon such as honeydew, cantaloupe, watermelon
____ 1 whole grapefruit (Caution: may interact with some prescribed medications)

Bread Products
100 calories per day. Spread the bread products out over the day. Many people will have ½ of the allowance for breakfast (with a fruit serving) and the other ½ in the evening. Choose from:
____ Melba Toast (avoid the rounds, which are too oily. Choose the traditional shape which is rectangular) – choose from classic, wheat, rye and sourdough. 5 pieces of melba toast, contained in a cellophane package, totals 100 calories. Shopping tip: melba toast is often found in the bread aisle.
____ Thomas’ Bagel Thins – the top and bottom totals 110 calories, so divide it between breakfast and evenings.
____ Thin buns, or Sandwich thins from OroWheat and Earthgrains
____ Italian breadsticks – Alessi brand of garlic, plain and sesame – 4 breadsticks the length of the box are allowed per day. If you find the “thin” garlic sticks, they are in a white package within the box. Each white package of thin sticks would be allowed over the course of the day.
____ Ak-Mak crackers (one sheet of 4 crackers is a one day allowance)
____ 100 Calorie Mini-Bags of Microwaveable Popcorn – 94% (or higher) fat free
____ 40 to 45 calorie thin sliced bread (Pepperidge Farms, Sarah Lee) – 2 slices per day allowed.
____ Wasa crackers – read the package and limit yourself to a total of 100 calories per day.

Other Food Items:

____ PAM non-stick cooking spray (1/3 second rated as zero calories). Use in moderation.
____ Smart Balance Spray, or “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” Spray. This is a soy by-product and is rated as zero calories per spray. I would limit yourself to 10 sprays per day to be on the safe side.
____ Walden Farm’s calorie free products - Salad Dressings, BBQ Sauce, Caramel Dip, Chocolate Dip
____ Bragg’s Liquid Aminos (this is zero calorie soy sauce, great for flavoring meat or stir-frying vegetables)
____ Cider vinegar and Rice Wine vinegar are zero calories
____ Other vinegars such as balsamic and Red Wine vinegar are low calorie, and may be used in moderation. Use Worcestershire sauce in moderation.
____ “Southern Style” Hot Sauces (Tabasco, Cholula and others) are calorie free.
____ Regular Mustard is calorie free, but avoid the flavored mustards.
____ Seasonings and Spices, fresh or dried herbs, and curry are fine. Garlic is safe, but use in moderation.
____ Real Lime & Real Lemon are considered calorie free. If you want to use a fresh lemon or lime, then each one is about 10 calories, so use up to 2 per day (2 lemons or 2 limes, or one of each).
____ Beef Stock (fat free) for making soups is only 5 calories per cup.
____ Artificial sweeteners –Splenda, SweetNLow, Equal, Truvia, Stevia and others are all fine.
____ Egg Whites – the white from one medium sized egg is about 18 calories. ¼ cup of Original Egg Beaters is 30 calories. If you choose two egg whites, or ¼ cup of Egg Beaters for breakfast, then I want you to decrease the “Meat” allowance for that day by 1 oz. This can be combined with onions, peppers, tomatos and mushrooms to make a nice omelet, that can be placed over a toasted ½ bagel thin. Season with hot sauce or salt & pepper.

Prevent Constipation:
____ Fiber (sugar free Metamucil, Miralax, Benefiber, FiberPlex capsules)
____ Stool Softeners (docusate 100mg)
____ Laxatives (Senekot, Dulcolax, Magnesium Citrate) as needed and as directed by physician. There are laxative teas (“dieter’s tea”) such as “smooth move tea” that may also be used, as needed.

Yay! Thanks Deb

I have some all white pork chops in the crockpot with sauerkraut. It smells divine. I hope it doesn't totally mess me up. I do have turkey hot dogs, maybe I'll eat those with the sauerkraut to be on the safe side....

I think all white pork chops are just as lean as any burger, and probably even chicken. Up to you though! Isn't sauerkraut just cabbage and vinegar? heck I don't know..

Well, yesterday turned into a total bust I did good once again until around 8 pm and then all heck broke loose I ate some more sauerkraut and a couple dumplings and then I went for the sugar. I had some cookies and ice cream. What is wrong with me? Sugar is so freaking toxic and drug like!!!! I was upset about my DD's friend being mean to her and I think it set off this binge. My body seems to think sugar is going to help? I know sugar reacts in the body the same as some drugs like cocaine and heroin - in the pleasure centers of our brains. Well, I felt like CRAP afterwards. I was mad at myself and my tummy hurt

Oh well, today is a brand new start but I'm tired. Couldn't sleep last night because it was still bothering me how my DD's friend treated her. Why are girls so mean to eachother???? I just don't get it!!!!!
