Glad the scale is inching down. Hope the massage went well.

Ever have one of those weeks with too much week and not enough grocery money?? LOL

I got a coupon packet from our grocery store today and in it was 2 coupons for free meats.

OMGosh you have never seen a happy dance like the one I did.

Especially since the meat also fits within our WOE.

We may actually make it to the end of the week without "starving".

Free meats?! Score!!! I never get those! We've had weeks like that....always ended up with some weird meals!

Skyped with DS2 and family today....baby Josie slept the whole time, Ruthie danced around the whole time. She's excited for us to go there this weekend...especially because it's Kayli and Uncle Dan...they are more fun than me, apparently! LOL!

Good Morning! Scale is down to a new low! It may even go lower once the last of the retention is gone! I'm cautiously hopeful right now.....I'd love to see some real progress!

It's not a day to be outdoors here....cold, rainy and very windy. I've got a lot to get done here today to be ready to go see Baby Josie tomorrow! We'll be getting to DS's house late so I won't get to meet her till Sat. morning, I'm sure.

Going out to eat tonight with Kayli....we're picking her up and going for stir fry and then to our house for a bit.

I suppose I'll make a few more calls regarding my Mom's stuff, too. I just don't feel like working on any of it! But it needs to be done....

Happy Thursday!!

Glad you got some skype time with the fam. And that you get to go see everyone this weekend.

Speaking of weird meals we're going to try one tomorrow night that I've kind of morphed from other recipes. It'll be chicken livers(really cheap) blended together with ground turkey(on sale) and then molded into "chicken nugget" shapes. I'll dredge them in coconut flour and seasonings before either baking or frying. Haven't decided on that part yet. Then we'll have sweet potato fries on the side. All of it will be AIP/Paleo friendly.

Weird meals keep life interesting.

Scale is up a bit but TOM showed up a couple days early so not totally surprised.

Been really good about my AIP this week and now I'm gradually adding in supplements that I've been reading about. I will try one new supplement every 2wks just to give my body a chance to react or just get used to it before moving on to another one. The first one is Selenium.

I already take probiotics(although I may switch brands), fermented cod liver oil, Vitamin D, and when I remember calcium/magnesium.

I'd like to switch to the magnesium oil you put on your skin. And I probably should start with digestive enzymes since that could be the reason my body doesn't absorb nutrients like it should. Ugh... My hubby bought me selenium so I'll start with that.

Gotta run and do some quick research then hand over the computer so hubby cab work on job applications. Wish us luck!!

Are you going to make your own magnesium oil? I have some that I bought....I want to mix it with coconut oil to make it easier to apply. Apparently it's easy to make and much cheaper, too.

Haven't decided about that yet. I know I want to do the oil but just not sure if I want to buy it or make it myself.

We found out that the selenium hubby got was the wrong kind so he took it back today. We'll have to go to another store this weekend to pick up the right kind. Has to be yeast free.

Good Morning! Lots to do today to get ready for my visit to DS2 and family....laundry, a little cooking, packing and cleaning. Sad that DH isn't going but we'll go again next week for a bit and then we'll be taking Kayli there in June so he'll get baby time soon!

I'm going to make a couple of single serve size "breads" to take along as well as some egg salad for my breakfast since they do cereal for breakfast. DIL knows I eat grain free so I'm sure there will be food I can eat. Will do my best!

I think I read the scale wrong yesterday...drop wasn't as big as I thought. It's a digital scale but the background is gray and the numbers are a shade darker gray...sometimes it's hard to read with these old eyes. It's still down from the other day but just not as much. Looks like most of the retention is gone now so that's good! Now to keep it away while I'm gone!

Happy Friday!!

So happy for you that you're going to get some baby time.

Hope the swelling stays away for you.

Scale is continuing down here. Still not excited yet. Few more pounds before that will happen.

Even though I know TSH isn't the end all and be all of thyroid stuff.. I was still disappointed that it was so dang high. Guess that's what I'll be working on this month and we'll see if what I do helps.

And the Vit D that I'm so bad about remembering... well those numbers were awful and I'm going to have to get better about that.

Have both kids dealing with head colds and one with a sore throat. Really hope they don't pass it along to me.

Happy Weekend!!

Have a safe trip!!

Scale is up today but I'm also not only swollen from TOM but also my joints are inflamed. I'm pretty sure I know why so I will make the adjustments needed. At least I only made the misstep in week 1 and not in say, weeks 3 or 4.

Been doing some more research and studying about how best to support my thyroid. The one thing I keep running up on is that my walking and yoga is fine.

However maybe my kettlebells are too much stress on the body while I'm trying to heal. But I want the muscles as I lose weight not just a smaller flabby body.

It's a conundrum.

We go this weekend to pick up my selenium and possibly check out a different pro-biotic. I may stick with what I have for now simply because money is tight and I don't want to hurt the family by buying too many supplements right away. I'm not sure yet...

Happy Sunday!!

Back down what I was up yesterday. Wish it was more but oh well.

The whole job issue is really starting to get to me. I've tried to hold it together in order to be strong for hubby but find that my armor is starting to break.

As for how it affects my eating. Some days the knot in my stomach is so large that I can't eat anything. Some days my stomach feels like a bottomless pit that I can't fill fast enough.

I keep trying to remind myself that others have been here and gotten through fine. My in-laws included and they are doing great. But it doesn't always release that knot.

Happy Monday!!

And I'm back up the same .4 that keeps going down and up recently.

Time to amp up the walking and yoga. I admit I've been a bit lazy while I dealt with the joints hurting. They still hurt but it's time to get moving more.

Especially if I want to make it into my dress for hubby's ceremony.

Good Morning! We had a great weekend (well, poor DH missed it because of work).....DS1 and Kayli and I had a great weekend! The baby is just adorable....she's calm and content so far....much different from Ruthie! Ruthie was so happy to see Kayli....they sang and danced and played all weekend!

I did fairly well with food....scale is the same...not too much retention. I did cave and have a sandwich yesterday. I really need to find a decent bread replacement that can be made ahead. I tried a recipe on Friday to take along but it was very dry. I used it for a bun replacement Friday night and then for breakfast on Saturday. The recipes that I've liked so far are single serving size and I don't know how they'd hold up if made ahead. Maybe I'll go back to making oopsie rolls to take along. They're easy and somewhat bread-like...

I need to get some groceries.....getting low on a lot of things. DH borrowed DS1's truck while we were gone and we need to return it so we'll stop very groceries on the way home.

Not much to say. Huge jump on the scale and swelling to show for it. It is what it is.....

Hubby starts his medical today so we'll see if that will help any with retirement.

Good Morning! Scale down a smidge.....I'd love to lose at least 5 lbs in the next couple of weeks before my dr. appt. but I don't see it happening. I'm so tired of struggling with this....but I will keep trying.

My book club is Friday and it's a sleepover! Yay! We are all bringing an appetizer to share so I'm making deviled egg dip and bringing some veggies and Nut Thin crackers for dippers. I don't have time to try making a cracker recipe this week so I'll just buy them because they are gluten free. The hostess will provide breakfast....I hope it will be something I can eat. We are leaving for DS2's house when I get home from book club and if breakfast has grains I will puff up on the long drive.

I have a dentist appt. after lunch and then I'll stop at the grocery store on the way home. Need a few things for the week as well as a few things to make to take along this weekend.

Interesting day....dentist appt. was ok...have to see the specialist I saw last year again...there are still some issues with my gums apparently. Interesting that DH has to see him, too.

Went to the grocery store but was too tired to go to the bigger store...went to the small store and got the necessities and hurried home to use the bathroom.....felt like I had the beginning of a UTI...now this puzzles me because I have to take antibiotics before every dentist appt. The pain last for a while...I took some cranberry supplements as well as some probiotics....and drank some ACV water....feeling much better now but will definitely keep an eye on things....if I don't feel completely better tomorrow I'll go get checked.

Now my feet also feel puffy and sore...wonder what's causing that? If it's not one thing it's another and I can't seem to figure out what's going on with me.

Happy Wednesday!!

Hope you don't have a UTI those are no fun. If you search Kresser and UTI you'll find an article he did on D-Mannose. I swear by that stuff. It's also on my blog if you want to read and see links for it there.

Scale is down but not back down in the lower set of 10's. It's like my body absolutely does NOT want me to go any lower.

Oh well... I'm eating healthy and moving so not much else I can do really. Right now my focus is on remembering all my supplements so that we can naturally get my numbers down.

Other than that just trying to get through day by day.

Good Morning! I seem to be fine this morning so far! I'll look up that article tonight...

I have errands this morning....have to drop off some stuff at DS's house, stop by Stepfather to show him baby pictures and maybe stop by MIL to see what's going on with SIL...apparently she is back in the hospital (or at least she was over the weekend). She has some sort of mental illness (I think bi-polar) but MIL won't tell us exactly what's going on most of the time. I think MIL tends to ignore or deny SIL's problems (SIL lives with MIL) and acts like things are not all that bad.....well, things are bad and only going to get worse if nothing is done.

Scale is down another smidge....will just keep plugging along at this snail's pace....

Good Morning! Scale down a bit more...it's just inching down slowly. Better than nothing.

Lots to do today....going for a massage, need to get a few groceries, laundry, cleaning, cooking...it never ends!

I've been awake since a little after 3 a.m. so I'm hoping to get a nap in today.

Happy Thursday!!

Congrats on the scale moving down. Hope you get that nap later.

Had a huge drop on the scale for me. I think the supplementing is working with my thyroid and my thyroid is letting me lose finally.

Just wish I'd done that a lot sooner.

I'm firmly back in the lower set of 10's and continuing lower than I have been in a while. Really hope that it isn't a fluke.

Congrats!! Glad things are finally working for you! What supps are you taking?

I'm up in the middle of the night again. I did get to sleep shortly after I posted....slept for 3 hours! I fell asleep around 10 p.m. and woke about an hour ago....now I will probably be awake for at least another hour before I try to go to bed again.

Guess I'll go pack my stuff for my book club sleepover. Don't want to get too busy doing stuff or I won't be able to get back to sleep. Maybe I'll try to do some reading instead.

Another night of weird sleep hours but, as you saw on FB, we got early morning hot tub time so that was nice. Did a few chores before going back to bed and sleeping till noon! Now I have to hurry up and finish getting ready for my Book Club sleepover. Plus I need to get a few things done for our trip this weekend.

Scale is down a little (less than a lb)....I'm sure after tonight and our trip it will be back up again. No matter what I do this happens when I travel. I had hoped to be down a bit more before my dr. appt. on June 5th but I doubt it. I'm sure he probably thinks I just eat crap all the time and that's why I don't lose. I'm also sure that most everyone I know thinks the same.

Have a great weekend! Will pop in when I can!

Happy Friday!!

Sorry about the weird sleep. I know how NOT fun that can be.

Had a rough day. One of my bad migraines plus flu like symptoms. I'm a smidge better but had to back out of some tentative plans for tonight.

Supplements:
I went from only taking my cranberry with C and E to stop the beginning of a UTI and started using it everyday.
I am eating seaweed when I take Selenium. I don't want to supplement Iodine because of my Hashi's but if you take selenium without enough iodine it can cause issues. I am using a regular supplement for the selenium now but when I can find a source for Brazil nuts I will have one of those a day.
I upped my dose of probiotics and will finish out my bottles I have on hand then I will be switching to a brand that I've heard a lot of good things about.
I also take Fermented Cod Liver Oil everyday.
Oh and B-12 1000 sub-lingual every day.

I did the research and found which vitamins supplement each other, what time of day is best to take them, when to take(i.e. before, during, or after a meal) etc and then scheduled them all out.

Plus I downloaded an app that tells you how long to be in the sun for optimum Vit D levels.

I will be adding supplements as I go only if I can't get them in whole foods. So far, so good. Until this morning anyway. But I'm pretty sure I can pinpoint what happened to make me sick. With how I'm feeling tonight though I'm sure I'll be better tomorrow. Means I'm getting over it fairly quickly. That's a good sign.

Now to just get the Vit D levels up quickly so that my migraines will go away again.

Happy Sunday!!

Slightly down today. Would have been more if I weren't swollen. And yup, last night was fish night again. I'm thinking of having hubby just make mine naked because every time he makes it something he puts on it swells me up.

Lots of work on the garden this weekend but otherwise nothing super special going on.

Hope you enjoy your long weekend.

Happy Sunday Again!!
That's what I get for not double checking my calendar yesterday.

Woke up swollen and the scale was way up yet again. The only thing I can think is that the Epic Bars have too much sodium or I'm not drinking enough water. ugh!!

Hubby is also hovering in the same weight range he's been in for a while. It's not because he's eating a ton but the guys have eaten more off plan food lately when I was sick. I didn't partake but of course hubby took it as a chance to indulge.

He gained a half a pound. I had an on plan bar with too much sodium and I gain 3lbs. So not fair.

I was looking at the pictures I took for his work profile and he looks like a different person. When he goes back to shaving for work on Tuesday I'll take some new photos. Maybe looking younger and less poofy will help.

Happy Monday!!

Didn't eat the Epic Bar and still swollen and up on the scale today. I'm starting to think it's the migraine meds. Both days that I was super swollen I had to take it.

So, I need to get the migraines back to rarely happening. Which means figuring out a way to deal with all the stress. Like that's really going to be easy.

I have 4wks to get into my dress for hubby's ceremony. Although I'm thinking maybe I should have a backup outfit.

I'm starting juicing today with some very basic ingredients:
cucumbers
carrots
celery

I've head some good things about it from friends. Whether it was just starting the day with one or doing a whole cleanse for a few days. They've gotten clearer skin and found thyroid numbers got so much better that they were able to lower their meds. So, I figured what could it hurt. Let's hope it at least clears my skin. I could really use that for pictures at hubby's ceremony.

Off to do my yoga then I'll do my first juicing.

we've been enjoying the time here so much! Nothing like holding a newborn to make you forget your troubles!

Food is going pretty good although my gf crackers are causing some puffiness. Guess I won't be getting them anymore. I did have a small slice of dessert last night.

Time is going too fast and we'll be heading home tomorrow morning....

Happy Tuesday!!

Glad you had such a good time.

Back down on the scale today. I tried to juice all day yesterday but found that I need real food by dinner.

I may try to make it a juice for breakfast, lunch, and snack with lean and green dinner to see how that goes. Right now I'm just playing it by ear and definitely having it for breakfast.

Workouts didn't happen over the weekend(other than yoga) since I was dealing with a migraine most of the time.

Really hoping the juicing will help with that.

I'm also stepping up my yoga. If I have to do it 3x's a day to offset this stress I will. Thankfully my kids are old enough that I can kick them out of the room for a bit when I need to destress.

Now I'm off to get all my online stuff done and then start lessons for the day. If all goes well, we only have 4wks left of school work to do.

Finally home! Had a talk with DH about our eating while traveling and how it needs to change. Today we just didn't care what we ate and my stomach is still feeling not so great. So no more trail mix (I can't stop picking at it and he puts chocolate in it!), no more stopping for burgers because it's easier. I'll make food to bring along and I'll find some sort of snack that's acceptable to him (he can't seem to drive without having something to eat!).

I joined a juicing page on FB a while back...maybe you should take a look at it! I want to get back to shakes for breakfast and a light lunch and then a main meal in the evening. I joined a small lc group on FB...no one from LCF at all on it....the one guy that started the page is having luck with bullet proof coffee in the morning, meat/cheese for lunch for lunch and then a bigger but still lc meal in the evenings....as long as he keeps grains out of his menu he's been losing well. Kind of reminds me of the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet. I had really good success with that back in the day so maybe I'm leaning toward going back to that for a while.

I was going to ask you the other day (but couldn't get the iPad away from DH while at DS's house) about where you get your info about supplements and when to take them and possible interactions...I used to have a site that I checked but lost it when I switched to the laptop from the desktop a few years ago. Do you have a good site for it or do you have to go to several different sites?

WOE: What Ever it Takes!!!!
Start Date: Recommited January 2014
Happy Wednesday!!

I just hop around to different sites as far as researching supplements goes.

Paleo Mama took some short notes on the supplements mentioned on the one thyroid lecture that really interested me.

So, I printed out her list then researched each supplement individually to decide what to put in first. I went with selenium because being low in that is known as a trigger for Hashi's. It can balance/ease both hyper and hypo symptoms.

Then I researched specifically "when" certain supplements should be taken and with what other supplements they should be taken with to get the best absorption.

I don't have to worry about meds that won't mix well with them since I don't currently take anything other than migraine meds when I have to.

Scale is currently continuing down. I'm at a weight that I will hit twice a month before continuing right back up. I'm hoping the juicing will keep me going down.

When I get to the next set of 10's(again) I will have proof that this is working for me.

WOE: general low carb
Good Morning! Paying for my off plan meal yesterday with a bounce on the scale and a rash....tried to head it off with oil of oregano but no luck. I need to shower and get some of my coconut oil/tea tree oil on the rash so it doesn't get worse.

I'm going to dig out a few of my low carb books for reviewing this week. Maybe I should look into the juicing at least for breakfast....I don't know yet. I did some juicing about 12 years ago and gained weight from it so I hesitate to go there again. So maybe it's best for me to skip it. I suppose I should stick with my protein shakes instead....

I need to work on a plan for when we travel to visit DS2.....that's where I have my worst challenges. We used to bring wraps and lc snacks at eat at rest areas....may go back to that again. Just need to find a recipe for gf wraps or decide that eating a lc tortilla only for that is acceptable. It's better than what I've been doing which is eating a burger with the bun.

Feeling sorry for myself this morning. So now I'm off to get a shower and get some chores done.

I'm going for my jiggly massage this afternoon. I need it....
